Re: Ubisoft's Disastrous 2024 May Lead To The Company Going Private

@ottoecamn - I think one of the biggest flaws using Yasuke was the fact he is a actual figure in history.

AC has had an entire franchise setting the stage that assassins were always the background agents of history. We as those agents would be essentially forgotten. Being a historic character sort of break the idea Assassin's Creed sort of built with decades of lore building.

Then what proceeded actions after that shown it would have been better if Ubi kept to that original formula. So many tone deaf decisions on Ubisoft's part just made the criticism feel more justified. Which is a stark contrast to a lot of the other AC iterations, even including the more disliked releases like Odyssey.

@Not_Soos - My issue with third parties is how much more red tape each one comes with bringing them back with their kit. With first party characters, it's basically so much easier to expect them to return, even if they don't do so each new release.

I don't greatly oppose third parties, I myself have my own dream characters. You do, however, run into the risk of trusting compabies will stick around. For instance; If Capcom goes belly up tomorrow, highly likely getting Mega Man in again will be a greater chore than it is now. The more third parties enter, the chance of them never returning increases.

I am open to more stages unaccociated, as well. Little Nightmares has a few good ideas, I agree. Even Mappy Land if we want to be classic too. That being said, Nintendo also has many viable options too. RingFit and Labo would have a few good ideas too.

I do NOT agree with ridding spirits, it has fundamental more engagement than trophies. As much as I love collecting them, once you are done, there is no more collecting. Collecting more has no further rewards. Spirits had fights, so there is a variety of more experiences to be had by adding more. I have seen ideas to bolster more unique fights across the internet, too. Maybe add a scenario mode to allow you to make and share displays.

But I woukd be accepting of disposing World of Light for a more replayaple arcade mode. Even Subspace lacked replayability.

@Not_Soos - Part of me is banking on a premium version of Smash Ultimate. As it took Ultimate over 7 years of development to reach its completion. In order to have one ready early in the next generation, they would have had been developing the next one before Fighter Pass 2 was announced. And that ignores any conversations they still may need for agreements... Like Disney.

So I am betting on an Ultimate DX as it were. Rebooted visuals where needed, refreshed characters where expected, and a new mode or two. Ultimately the same however.

Re: Rumour: New Leaked Codenames Suggest Turok, Tomb Raider, DOOM & More Are Inbound

@russell-marlow - They put it in the game, not an actual message, so everyone is clear reading both our comments here.

That being said, we are not sure if they're just being cheeky. We have records of many companies denying requests about a game or release of something, and later still make it. Hell Nintendo of all people does this often when we are talking consoles. So it may be them trying to divert, but also not able to announce anything on a project they may be doing.

I mean, there is a reason Turok fans clamor for Rage Wars over MP in Turok 2. Many favor it as the defacto multiplayer experience.

It's why I bet on it, regardless if others feel different. But they can also go straight to Evolution and totally ruin all the goodwill they made. But no one is asking for that release.

Re: Soapbox: Nintendo Needs More Characters Like Paper Mario's Vivian

Paraka

@LadyCharlie - Isn't that a little too hyperbolic, tho? I am aware you are attempting to be inciting emotions with that comment, but there are people who have this thought in ernest.

If a team genuinely wants to create a game that is a survival game with one actual character, then they would be essentially one option for the sake of representation; a Gay Trans Disabled Person of Color. If someone WANTS to make that specific person, by all means. But requiring the representation may just get some half-assed makeshift that everyone either forgets, or uses as a bludgeon as to why the industry is broken (in both "camps").

I think there is still more to people then some checkbox representation, a lot of which corporations leverage to invoke emotion to buy crappy products because they simply acknowledged you. I mean, I am legally blind in one eye, but the community believes that a pirate represents me when we are talking representations like this. That's not how it works, but people are eager to accept whatever is offered, cause many teams don't care to offer deeper meaning behind a rainbow painted character.

Re: Corn Kidz 64 Brings N64-Inspired 3D Platforming To Switch This April

Paraka

Cavern of Dreams and Kiwi 64 feel like they just simply took the aesthetic of the N64 graphics to pitch their ideas that didn't feel flushed out enough.

This one though felt like it was an N64 game, like lost media type of feeling. Finished in modern era, but kept its original intended media feel.

This game felt a lot like Tonic Trouble, if that helps anyone.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give 'Princess Peach: Showtime!'?

Paraka

A solid 6 easily. In fact, that is why I score it as such; Game is just straightforwardly easy. No options for extra challenge or anything like Kirby and Mario proper.

I mean, it is perfect for that young aspiring gamer to have an easy mellow game that is not tied to some hashed-up license. And it plays solidly to boot.

It's simply just too easy.
