The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster may be full now, but that won't stop us from dreaming about what could have been thanks to a particularly awesome fan-made trailer.
Animation YouTube channel King Bob (the creator behind the awesome Waluigi Smash reveal trailer from a few years back) has returned with another Ultimate roster addition that never was and we are, once again, blown away by the creativity on display.
Just in case the headline or above trailer wasn't enough of a giveaway, the latest reveal trailer puts Skull Kid in the spotlight, and it really is a beauty. Taking place across a surprisingly emotional four minutes, the trailer sees Mario and co. attempt to take on the Majora's Mask baddy while a giant smiling moon comes crashing down to Earth. There are ace shots like the Star Fox crew coming across the moon while airborne, Mario reaching a sticky end, and a surprisingly touching moment between Isabelle and Bowser.

Oh, and we really can't stress this enough, there is a surprise at the end of the video that you will not want to miss. If you thought Skull Kid was the main attraction here, think again.
Of course, Sora capped off the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate character reveals back in 2021, so the likes of Skull Kid and Waluigi will have to wait for whatever comes next in the series. While we have no idea what a new Smash Bros. title would even look like, series creator Masahiro Sakurai announced last week that he is working on another game — there's no guarantee that's Smash, mind you.
What do you make of this fan trailer? Would you play Skull Kid in Smash Ultimate? Let us know in the comments.

Well done… simply amazing.
Great fan-made trailer (didn't expect the Tingle reveal at the end), kudos to King Bob!
I somehow guessed the Tingle reveal from the rupee...played too much Tingle's Rosey Rupee Land growing up I guess lol
Anyway, that was some excellent animation and the moments between Mario and Luigi + Bowser and Isabelle were surprisingly emotional.
It's cool. It doesn't feel like a Smash Reveal trailer, but it's cool
I don't particularly care for this fan made thing, but every since I chased him in the lost woods in ocarina he has been my favourite video charactor,
"You've met with a terrible fate, haven't you?"
Aside from the slightly (understandably) lacklustre Smash battle footage and the over-animation of Link and Zelda's hair, that was pretty stonking.
This is what technology should be used for: less of that dystopian megacorp destruction of society and drone warfare; more Smash fighters.
This would be sooo cool, as DLC.
Good effort, enjoyed it!
The atmosphere in Majora's Mask is one of the greatest things ever created in a videogame.
I really hope the Ocarina Of Time Remake rumours are true, because it will make a Majora's Mask Remake that little bit more likely.
We need another dark Zelda game. It's been too long. We've had a good fill on cutesy Zelda - come on Nintendo... let's go back to Termina.
Amazing, he'd be an amazing addition!!!
I was expecting doom slayer at the end
That's not Octoling. . .or Tails. . .or Rayman. . .
A peculiar choice of character to add, but then again, after Piranha Plant got in...😄
İt was awesome. Well made. İn the beginning you hear Song of healing. Like in the game everyone was sad the moon will crush to the land. Everone will be dead. Why is Tinkle here? Haha, well done. İ always hated Tinkle in the game. Tinkle was annoying.
There is a weird uncanny valley aura with Tingle's model that KB seemed to have been able to crank up a few notches.
I am not sure whether to be impressed, or scared.
I dunno if @JimNorman found this on his own or if it because I sent it in to them, but I will assume the latter so that I can say, "Hey look, my news tip was used! "
Wow, at least I only had to invest about 4 minutes. Wonder how much time THEY wasted xD
Bahahaha, "Sticky end." Good one 😂
Very well made! Would be great if he is added to the roster of future entries!
Nice fan-made trailer.
I immediately guessed it was Tingle at the end when the rupee showed up.
The creator use to tie their fan trailers with existing, or his very own, mod projects.
I had to look on why the Skull Kid trailer lacks one and it turns out that he's retiring Smash modding.
I have to say, it's very disappointing but uplifting at the same time.
What's disappointing is that nothing is produced for anyone to play, especially when the trailer is trying to mock as a Smash Ultimate mod trailer.
The upside is that better and more deserving Zelda characters can be focused on, now that this little roster speculation clout video is out of the way.
I'm just waiting for the day I get to see the following taglines in a Smash game:
"RAYMAN Throws Hands!"
"CRASH BANDICOOT Crashes The Party!"
"SPYRO Charges In!"
Bowser and isabelle had me crying 😭❤️
Skullkid is my number 1 request for Smash.
And also that extra character? Hell yeah that would be the best update ever!
Seeing Clock Town at the night of the final day brings back the feels... Majora's Mask was such a tragic game but sooooo good.
Super cool. Love his channel
It was fun and nicely rendered. Some of the animation a little floaty but really pretty good on the whole. I think I’d mostly just change the pacing, it’s not really a reveal if the new character is the first thing you see. Well that and all the characters acting like they know they’re about to die, that felt out of place. Like, they’ve all faced Sephiroth turning up with more optimism and courage.
I think if it had started with the Mushroom Kindom going about their lives, then the shadow creeps over as characters start to notice and look up. Then we get the cool shot of Fox and crew flying in and we get a hint of the face reflected in the screen before cutting. Peach is overlooking with Zelda and the moon’s face is fully revealed in the sky, at which point Young Link, the only one who knows what’s up, steps in, the other Links not far behind. Then Skull Kid shows up for the reveal and name card. Mario and Luigi brace for a fight, Mario gets turned then Luigi runs off scared. Skull Kid turns a bunch of people into trees, we get some footage and a less morose version of Isabelle and Bowser’s scene and then yeah the final ending was perfect don’t change that at all.
King Bob has been making amazing Smash Bros/Nintendo trailers for a while now. I highly suggest you guys give his YouTube channel and look. His Banjo-Kazooie trailer in particular is extremely well done (someone seriously needs to hire him)
Very cool!!
Kudos to whoever made this, well done!!!
@mlt
Since Melee, I couldn’t agree more! Maybe on the next one, but his relevance is fading… At least they Finally (semi) fixed Ganny!
