Re: Video: We've Played SteamWorld Build - Is It Any Good?

Paraka

@StefanN - To be fair, there is notable design choices for SteamWorld as a franchise to stand out, moreso than most Fire Emblem design choices.

Not knocking FE, but a good example of this is all the stages in Smash. None of them stand out as "Fire Emblem world" when in stark contrast of series like Kirby and especially Mario.

SteamWorld, in that regard, has something. It just needs to find that hook. Which I am willing to bet they will eventually find.

Re: Video: We've Played SteamWorld Build - Is It Any Good?

Paraka

@HeroponRiki - Well, they have had a few interviews over the course of time stating they want to expand on the universe of SteamWorld over characters. Paraphrased, of course, but jumping different genres assists in doing this.

And in case some want to challenge that, here is a link to one of them before Dig 2's release;

https://sourcegaming.info/2017/08/30/straight-from-the-source-image-form-games-steamworld-dig-2/

Of course, he is discussing why Heist was a focus at the time, but likely this has been applied ever since. Of course, this may not be enough for some people out there, there is plenty of other interviews in the same timeframe from others on the team echoing the sentiment. Just... Not gunna spam them all here.

Re: Life Is Strange 2 Brings More Magical Realism To Switch Next Month

@EVIL-C - What is with you and personal attacks? Even at the get-go you kept taking personal swipes as a way to deject the statement. Even when I pointed out it was used to mock Square's track record of malarky. What bowl of cheerios did I whizz in that you took to direct insults as the proper course of debate?

When I pointed out Square's track record, you immediately strawman it as entirely inconsequential, cause it's... Not this game specifically? And how many trailers have we all seen, even with Square, that the final product was not that presented in-trailer? Now it's absolute, come on, now. This was bizarrely aggressive from your part, cause I believe we had a good laugh on Capcom's track recprd of codes in boxes in a similar vein.

So for your latter; It's finally confirmed and I concede.

Or is that not enough and you need to do more personal digs at me from your high horse attitude? Cause I commented elsewhere too, surely you got some agression and you're not finished with me.

Re: Life Is Strange 2 Brings More Magical Realism To Switch Next Month

Paraka

@CherriCola - Are we just including Square's lifetime catalogue or other companies in that comparison?

Realistically, Square is 1.4-ish to 1 when it comes their underhanded tactics on Switch. From online checks to digitally physical, to weird code in boxes, and their current love; Cloud gaming.

Hence my mockery of them.

Re: Life Is Strange 2 Brings More Magical Realism To Switch Next Month

Paraka

@EVIL-C - So is it out? Can we confirm this is true? How is this game going to be immune to Square's antics simply because it's LIS2?

If you cite the trailer; Why is this trailer the defacto evidence? Why is this trailer different?

As of right now, it's not out, neither one of us can be confirmed. We are in Schrodinger's cloud. At least Square has a record to suggest my expectation is closer to reality.

Re: Life Is Strange 2 Brings More Magical Realism To Switch Next Month

Paraka

@EVIL-C - I was citing all the actions that Square does, which is a record that should be considered they have the capacity to pull this before. Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers, last minute shift of the digital version of the rythm KH game. Or do these not count cause they're not on Switch?

Or are you stating that LIS2 has to be the only specific evidence exclusively cause all others don't count? Cause that first comment was bashing Square's practice more than the game itself.

You need a nap, constantly trying to turn this into a personal argument. Stop that.

@IceClimbers - Guardians of the Galaxy, when moved to GamePass, went "pseudo-cloud" as some described it. Cause you still can mess with the lobby, but playing the game required access to be pretty connected. And that's before the Switch ports. First example.

Same with the Avengers, last minute shift to all the gameplay to be online.

Re: Life Is Strange 2 Brings More Magical Realism To Switch Next Month

Paraka

@EVIL-C - Have... Have you came from a dimension where Square is either benevolent, or hid their release record really well?

Last minute Cloud-ification of some ports of other Square games, lack of clarity till post release of both required downloads AND online "check" requirements for multiple releases, even outside Switch ports. Low physical print followed by code in the box practices.

All of which forgoes on some trailer of represented games, which you're using as gospel? A trailer...

Dude, seriously, forgive me for not praising the game simply by existing on Square's behalf. Cause clearly that consistent track record is clearly a long string of coincidences.

Re: Random: Masahiro Sakurai Says He Prefers To Buy Video Games Digitally

Paraka

Just wait till "digital" also means "streamed." Which can be cut out and placed exclusively on a new platform each time. You are essentially at a mercy of if or when a company decides your purchase has reached it's limit.

Digital itself isn't the fundamental flaw,. It's the general control of the purchase, the right to access and play, being moved from your hands to theirs, slowly. Basically it's like renting games from your neighbor's house and he eventually decides to move.

Sure, some physical media costs a fortune, but it is still available. There is games I won't be able to play because the digital environment changed so great over even the last decade that I can no longer re-download games.

Re: Inti Creates Brings Classic Castlevania-Inspired 'Grim Guardians' To Switch Next February

Paraka

@SonOfDracula - Alright, before we get into ridiculous assumptions of what I am saying, let's back up a bit.

First; this is deflection from the question I asked. Cause the stance you're showing is any company should be able to port old stuff and be enough for anything. You simply don't get the same feeling over and over and over again. I've played Mega Man 3 so much I can practically speed run it. The enjoyment is never as much as that first time, so people are likely going to look for new things if the main creators won't.

Which was the point I originally made when you asked why Inti-Creates even exists. The whole comment was to make it clear they've had a record of "filling a gap" for the desire of new Castlevania or Mega Man or possibly other stuff.

Instead, you respond as if to degrade anyone who would argue that Inti-Creates is doing anything good because you can simply replay old stuff and should suffice. Going so far as to twist words of mine into some form a "gotcha" argument. I won't play that forum game, dude, that's for GameFAQs.

Eat some humble pie, bro, it'll do you well.

Re: Inti Creates Brings Classic Castlevania-Inspired 'Grim Guardians' To Switch Next February

Paraka

@SonOfDracula - You can only replay those so many times in short succession before you crave new. That was my main point.

"Keep pumping them out" is a pretty big stretch, Konami hasn't made a new Castlevania in nearly a decade. Capcom took almost 15 and a massively inflated crowdfunded project before they considered to make 11.

So basically, your stance is saying Nintendo doesn't need to make any new Mario games for the same reason, which is ridiculous stance to take.

Re: Stardew Valley Creator's Next Game, Haunted Chocolatier, Is "Still Gonna Be A While"

Paraka

Now, I know I may get dogpiled on for this, but; I didn't really care for Stardew Valley. Something about it felt like is was a few paces behind Harvest Moon 64. Just enough that I cannot enjoy it like I used to. I still find more fun in Rune Factory.

That being said, this game shows some promise, a different approach to that similar formula. I will see to it when it releases.

Re: Atlus Shares More Details On Persona 3 And Persona 4 For Switch

Paraka

@TheSilverShroud - If I am paying physical prices, I expect physical product.

And that entails flexibility of access, I need my games consistently playable even if I decide to play the game after the Switch is dead.

Imagine having the Gamecube all-digital and you wanted to play it again because of some rare game like Lost Kingdoms you never got to. You're only way of accessing that is finding a GCN with it installed.
