Re: Japanese Charts: Master Detective Archives Claims Victory As Zelda: TOTK Takes Third

@UltimateOtaku91 - Well, they already reference Monokuma's laugh in the very first chapter. So it wouldn't surprise me if they indirectly do such cameos if they immediately go for the mascot of the original out the gate like that.

I do agree though, they will likely focus on new detectives going forward, allowing the series to have room Danganronpa didn't. But I am willing to bet they will all be tied to Shinigami in some way or another. Seems like she is lokely going to be the "face" of the series so they can market it further.

@UltimateOtaku91 - Honestly still feels better than Danganronpa to me. Where that series sort of anchored to one partocular school, and the sequels feel tacked on, MDA looks to cement a sense of a broader story structure, each "archive" (sequel) can pull from other areas and be an enclosed story while still tying them all together.

It's like the creator came at this idea with that intent being made possible.

Always a level of Nintendoom when people don't get their Direct fix.

How does a CharCreator mode be big enough to say, "yeah, THIS needs to be in the Direct to really send the message?" It's pretty innocuous, and it isn't the first time Nintendo has done this. Hell, they did it in reverse too, where a video like this came out after the Direct.

Re: Dillon's Rolling Western & Kirby Developer Vanpool Shuts Down

Paraka

@MikeP - Of course Nintendo fans will feel personally dejected by this. The closure, in a way, directly effects if (or when) we get another X game. This can only be seen as having less games in development. That is understandable, especially when Nintendo has massive *catalogues" of unused IPs.

Re: Dillon's Rolling Western & Kirby Co-Developer Vanpool Shuts Down

Paraka

@MikeP - In all honesty, though; Nintendo isn't obligated to help anyone they don't have leverage for a return with.

They are also seeking financial upkeep, and licensing to everyone they ever worked for all the time isn't going to help them.

Which sucks, Dillon's games were awesome for what they were. Hoped for a Switch port long ago.

Re: It Looks Like The Next Mortal Kombat Might Be Revealed This Week

Paraka

@Wheatly - It ran well on Switch, I will agree.

But it didn't look good, but I do not think that was the Switch's fault. The base game just looks like someone punched balls of mud to closely resemble a face and called it a character.

Sort of miss the old "Heavy Metal Movie" style and influence. Felt... Harder for that reason. Just uncanny valley designs now.

Re: Soapbox: If Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Isn’t Switch’s Swan Song, It Really Should Be

Paraka

@OrtadragoonX - I still believe the power race is being sorely under-capitalized. As time moves on, I have been seeing a lot of companies leverage ppwer to essentially sweep their problems under the rug. Optimization seems to be a thing of inconvenience for many of these developers.

I have gotten to the point I am willing to bet money that even the PS4 was sorely under-utilized with the power provided.

"I hope Nintendo, however, calls it a day for publishing and development sooner rather than later, ending once again on a Zelda-themed high note. Switch sales are in decline."

Sorry, this is sich a garbage. Switch isn't in "decline" yet. Their most recent ports are even breaking milestones. If anything it is at a plataeu. Reached a possible pinnacle. But that does not mean we need to abandon the development for the new system now because we have been so conditioned that every 4 years is "enough." We have had this conversation every year since.

But Switch has a massive momentum, and no real contender because their titan rivals struggle to even GET their systems out to the consumer. Why would Nintendo toss their hat in THAT?

Re: Meet The Heroes Of Disgaea 7: Vows Of The Virtueless In New Character Trailer

Paraka

@Ralizah - Selling poorly?

From my understanding it is still outpacing their sales on the PS4/5 with its subsequent releases, along with trending well enough interviews for 7 cite the positive feedback of 6 is what made them decide to continue. Not to mention the last one was almost 2 years ago.

No, I don't think "oversaturation" is a problem, otherwise people would not be demanding for new Mario games. No, it's far more likely their port teams usually made for Disgaea are distracted in helping Falcom with Trails ports.
