I am, honestly, pretty baffled why we have not had more not-NFL American Football games made.
Like, Blitz and Mutant League are the only ones I ever really saw up to now. And even then, they're more arcade inspired than a football game would play.
Man, whatever design choices they made for 11 amd now 1 are just straight muddy and miserable to look at. That and the 100 GB demand for space, the way they handled monetization in MK11. It... Just hurts to be a massive MK fan to watch this era of MK just straight up getting blistered.
I miss the Heavy Metal inspiration and savagery of MKX and back. Feels like it's trying to find a visual identity again.
@Takoda - I usually don't count ports in that, cayse basically Nintendo fans are playing catch up and they deserve that accessibility. Otherwise the comment should hold water on Nintendo and all their Zelda releases on Switch. But no one dares touch that.
I'd say keep looking. LRG, Super Rare and even SEA regions gave all their other releases a physical.
Since I need to show proof; here is a release list of all their games they have on Switch and beyond. Only 2 games they have on Switch not get a physical.
Bitmapsoft is likely a litmus test of what may happen once the industry tries going fully digital. We will likely see many indies pull some retro releases before the industry turns around and runs a similar parallel to what is going on now.
Something about this acquisition (and MS's antics in general) feels sour.
Knowing they're headlining the cloud gaming initiatives, I feel like Gamepass is just a stepping stone to essentially control what you get to play and when.
@UltimateOtaku91 - Well, they already reference Monokuma's laugh in the very first chapter. So it wouldn't surprise me if they indirectly do such cameos if they immediately go for the mascot of the original out the gate like that.
I do agree though, they will likely focus on new detectives going forward, allowing the series to have room Danganronpa didn't. But I am willing to bet they will all be tied to Shinigami in some way or another. Seems like she is lokely going to be the "face" of the series so they can market it further.
@UltimateOtaku91 - Honestly still feels better than Danganronpa to me. Where that series sort of anchored to one partocular school, and the sequels feel tacked on, MDA looks to cement a sense of a broader story structure, each "archive" (sequel) can pull from other areas and be an enclosed story while still tying them all together.
It's like the creator came at this idea with that intent being made possible.
@Arawn93 - Basically the sterotype of the "DeviantArt OC" I also mentioned. Always rubbed me the wrong way, and Cold Steel was the first of the LoH I got into, and Lloyd in contrast felt refreshing due to that.
A friend mentioned him as a "Kirito" because of how perfect he comes off too, which is apt.
@Arawn93 - And I cannot be more thankful for it. Something about... Everything Rean resonates the "DeviantArt OC" vibe. Never understood his hype, honestly.
Weird coming from the company racing Embracer to own all the game comoanies imaginable.
Xbox wanted to shift to games as a service for a long time now. The only reason they didn't pull this stunt sooner is because PS4 stomped on their DRM approach to gaming. This is just their plan B.
@Rayquaza2510 - Honestly, speak for yourself. Cause I still had my fun with it, and I wasn't going to lug around my monster of a PC to have the graphics top notch to play it on.
And people are giving Knight WAYYY too much credit, only reasonable argument is the engine it runs on isn't as flexible, even then, compromises can be made.
Always a level of Nintendoom when people don't get their Direct fix.
How does a CharCreator mode be big enough to say, "yeah, THIS needs to be in the Direct to really send the message?" It's pretty innocuous, and it isn't the first time Nintendo has done this. Hell, they did it in reverse too, where a video like this came out after the Direct.
LA was my jam when I was a child, switching in and out with Kirby's Dream Land 2, so there will always be a spot for the original.
But the remake made many changes that feels so much more streamlined, so much so that you don't spend most of your dungeon visits swapping out items every room.
@MikeP - Of course Nintendo fans will feel personally dejected by this. The closure, in a way, directly effects if (or when) we get another X game. This can only be seen as having less games in development. That is understandable, especially when Nintendo has massive *catalogues" of unused IPs.
@Wheatly - I am talking the looks in general. There is a difference between fidelity of the graphics amd general appeal. Even with the reduced fidelity, the Switch version was competent where it needed to be.
But it didn't look good, but I do not think that was the Switch's fault. The base game just looks like someone punched balls of mud to closely resemble a face and called it a character.
Sort of miss the old "Heavy Metal Movie" style and influence. Felt... Harder for that reason. Just uncanny valley designs now.
@OrtadragoonX - Yeah, and I still believe there still room to go beyond that as well. Heard lot of performance praise for Horizon. Just a testament tp their knowledge, similar to Nintendo and their works.
I am a little bagfled RDR2 is maintaining so strongly after so long. There was some... Rather goofy bugs that would been a detriment to the score if it was any other game.
@OrtadragoonX - I still believe the power race is being sorely under-capitalized. As time moves on, I have been seeing a lot of companies leverage ppwer to essentially sweep their problems under the rug. Optimization seems to be a thing of inconvenience for many of these developers.
I have gotten to the point I am willing to bet money that even the PS4 was sorely under-utilized with the power provided.
"I hope Nintendo, however, calls it a day for publishing and development sooner rather than later, ending once again on a Zelda-themed high note. Switch sales are in decline."
Sorry, this is sich a garbage. Switch isn't in "decline" yet. Their most recent ports are even breaking milestones. If anything it is at a plataeu. Reached a possible pinnacle. But that does not mean we need to abandon the development for the new system now because we have been so conditioned that every 4 years is "enough." We have had this conversation every year since.
But Switch has a massive momentum, and no real contender because their titan rivals struggle to even GET their systems out to the consumer. Why would Nintendo toss their hat in THAT?
Ahhh yes, the game I enjoyed so much that, after years I tried revisiting it on my Wii to discover the console failed. Further solidifying my view on physical media.

Re: Talking Point: Will You Pay $50 For Red Dead Redemption On Switch?
@DaftSkunk - They are the publisher, regardless. They have the ultimate say, and greenlit that collection in that condition.
Re: Talking Point: Will You Pay $50 For Red Dead Redemption On Switch?
@Astral-Grain - Not just L.A. Noire, either.
GTA Collection also did that. I am not too hopeful, mind you. It's quite literally the only ultimatum for my purchase.
2K really loves being able to decide how long their physicals are good for to resell it to you later again.
Re: Talking Point: Will You Pay $50 For Red Dead Redemption On Switch?
If the physical is all on-cart. Yes.
I am that person.

Re: Dark Magics Are Afoot As Trine 5 Gets A Switch Release Date
@roy130390 - Nine Parchments was as close to Gauntlet I can get in this modern era. I will gladly take it.
Re: Dark Magics Are Afoot As Trine 5 Gets A Switch Release Date
@rjejr - Yeah, 3 was deemed the biggest failure, but they promptly made a 4th a while after.
I am all about more Trine, but more in for another Nine Parchments.

Definitely a proper evolution of their Danganronpa efforts.

Re: Random: Mortal Kombat Co-Creator Knows Who He'd Add To Smash Bros., If Nintendo Was To Ask
Nintendo won't be able to shake MK's identity, no matter how mild they'd make Scorpion or anyone else.
Nintendo simply has much better options, and plenty of them, without even having to consider brutalities and fatalities.

Re: Soapbox: It's The Port I've Dreamed Of, But Can Switch Deliver The Batman We Need?
@Rika_Yoshitake - Right, a lot seem to think the genre of open world games are new and the Switch cannot simply make them work.
They're all 10 years old ultimately. Other than sheer laziness, what could stop the team from optimizing that code even a little bit?
Re: Batman Arkham Trilogy For Switch Only Includes One Title On The Game Cartridge
@IceClimbersMain - Yeah, because COD and GoW and MK11 are entirely on discs and not totally 300mb keycode with a mandatory download.
Cause that would be way too true!

@ModdedInkling - I mean, they WOULD have less competition.
Re: Embracer Group To Make Severe Cutbacks After Absurd Spending Spree
@shgamer - The lead artist DID just tease the game with a Lillith art in May. That one may not get axed if it's close enough for teasing.
Also, surprised the "BILLINZ DOLLAHS" company would overspend. You know, after spending too damn much for studios.

The Switch one, easy.
LA was my jam when I was a child, switching in and out with Kirby's Dream Land 2, so there will always be a spot for the original.

Re: Dillon's Rolling Western & Kirby Co-Developer Vanpool Shuts Down
@MikeP - In all honesty, though; Nintendo isn't obligated to help anyone they don't have leverage for a return with.
They are also seeking financial upkeep, and licensing to everyone they ever worked for all the time isn't going to help them.
Which sucks, Dillon's games were awesome for what they were. Hoped for a Switch port long ago.
Re: Mortal Kombat 1 "Gameplay Premiere" Scheduled For 8th June
@Ade117 - If you think that's steep, people are reporting the size is going to be about 100 GB in size.
That's another 50 bucks on the cheaper end for and SD card just to play it (assuming one won't sacrifice all other games they play to the fire).
Re: Samba De Amigo: Party Central Shakes Its Way Onto Switch This August
@TheBigBlue - Perfect time for Nintendo to chip in and get some good music from Switch games, honestly.

Now... Where is Vyse?

Yeah, they're not done.
Re: Rumour: 'Mortal Kombat 1' Is Supposedly Coming To Switch
@awaltzforvenus - It's just such a shame the Komplete Edition wasn't complete on cart. Just a code.
But on topic; a reboot means I get to ignore the terrible Scorpion storyline of 10/11!
That's an ultimate victory for me.
