Re: Danganronpa Creator Hasn't Ruled Out Returning To The Series

Paraka

I suspect he'll return to Danganronpa if Raincode doesn't pan out. But the topic if Danganronpa would return to form is another thing. Even he knows it's niche.

Personally, Rain Code looks to be more promising and honestly, more open ended. From even the story bits we know it sounds like a formula they can revisit more often than Monokuma.

Re: Random: Persona Composer Would 'Love' To Write Music For The Legend Of Zelda

Paraka

@Royalblues - Pretty sure the scope of his musical talent isn't just only energetic as you see on Persona games, which fit the style of the game very Very well.

I bet he has an understanding of how Zelda music works, with the more classical progressive epic styles we've heard for ages. I think it would be a good match. Not the greatest, but I am sure he'd impress.

It's funny, this conversation reminds me of how people usually fan-cast roles of characters in movies with how one LOOKS, and Heath Ledger was "too pretty" for Joker at the time and he nailed the style of Dark Knight amazingly well.

Re: The "Last Day" To Play The Original Overwatch Will Be Early Next Month

Paraka

@turntSNACO - Getting proper equipment to play it isn't free though. My PC is just under recommended for OW2. I can theoretically play it on Switch, but OW1 was as unenjoyable as it was, it wouldn't be worth the frustration.

But it still applies on principle. Service games can essentially choose when you're done playing the game. Even if you bought it. Even some single player games require online for this. Don't like it.

OW2 being free doesn't eliminate that truth.

Re: The "Last Day" To Play The Original Overwatch Will Be Early Next Month

Paraka

See, this is what gets a bad taste in my mouth.

Don't have the budget or means for Overwatch 2? Would like to at least have access to play a game you bought perhaps with offline LAN networking?

Activision Blizzard believes you're no longer entitled to Overwatch 1, get two and be glad they even allowed you to have the old skins.

Re: Talking Point: What Did You Think Of The Latest Nintendo Direct?

Paraka

It was... Alright. Not the biggest wow factors in the series, but it had some good stuff.

Didn't like the new direction Fire Emblem has taken, looks cheesy. Atelier Ryza looks to wrap up the series well enough. Pikmin 4 is exciting. Was hoping something on F-Zero would come up (that isn't service game friendly).

Overall, pretty content with what was shown.

Re: SNK Rules Out New KoF Games For Switch Due To System's "Technical Limitations"

Paraka

@JayJ - That was because they focused on PS2 development first cause the market of buyers there over the GCN.

Hell, bet those same games didn't play better on the Xbox at the time either. That's the point.

They could put more focus developing and optimizing the game on the lower hardware, and port it to the more powerful hardware instead of making the excuses again that Tech benchmarks are more important. It's financially silly.

Re: SNK Rules Out New KoF Games For Switch Due To System's "Technical Limitations"

Paraka

@JayJ - Gunna press X on the parity thing. The PS2 wasn't that close to the other two releases and everyone always focused on the PS2 for development first, and the graphics of their latter ports were pretty reflective of that.

However, that really doesn't justify hopping over the Switch (namely its market) for the sake of tech benchmarks to showcase. As is the way of the current generation of consoles. On a business standpoint, overlooking a Switch port is just silly.

Unless you need that power to hide your lack of optimization efforts, which is also very likely.

Which gets even more hilarious when you consider how far behind the PS5 is compared to the PC, as that gap is increasing as well, but the developers still essentially choose the "weaker" hardware amongst the upper echelon. Simply because it can get ported across more powerful systems easily... But that doesn't count for Switch, cause reasons.

Re: SNK Rules Out New KoF Games For Switch Due To System's "Technical Limitations"

Paraka

Anyone else baffled by the change of ideals for game development since the Xbox 360?

Almost every game was developed for the PS2 first and foremost and then dragged evenly to other consoles with minor improvements. Now it's whatever is the most powerful, but not too powerful to port it to very similar hardware, isolating what is the LARGEST possible market because simply the tech isn't powerful enough.

Hell, people would go through the extra work to get a more powerful game on the PS2. Because that market was JUICY.

Re: Nintendo Switch Is More Profitable Than Vinyl, CDs, And DVDs In The UK

Paraka

@Xiovanni - "wear down each time you use them."

Someone hasn't done research of vinyl in a long time.

And has never experienced bit rot. Which, the reader will repeatedly wear down with its light, which generates heat and the film cracks. Once that happens it's hosed permanently.

PS1s and CD formats are notorious in this, for example. PS2 is getting reports periodically.

Re: Review: Dusk Diver 2 - An Anime Hack 'N' Slash That Misses The Mark

Paraka

@jcboyer515 - Did you purposely overlook "of old" to make an insult on someone for no reason? Dude, not a good look.

But if you wanted me to elaborate, I mean the game has potential to give a nostalgic action game vibe akin to the original DMC releases. Do I think the quality of the games can do that now? No, hence why I said it has the capacity to do so.

As for reaching modern day DMC, that would require marketing and budgets I don't think South Korean indies have access to very much.

Re: Talking Point: Which Nintendo Series Would Work Best As A Free-To-Play Game?

Paraka

None.

On the simple premise that you are entirely at the company's will of how long you get to play it on ANY level.

I hate when Paladins adds new content and discover it broke half the good things and then you have to wait for the next major update for those fixes.

"Keeping things fresh" doesn't seem to be a problem with games like Smash Melee, or Toadstool Tour. But apparently it's a necessity to do so nowadays.

Re: Random: Splatoon 3's Big Man Has Some Big Fans Online

Paraka

I mean, it makes sense. Big Man is the outlier character to the standard expectations of the idols in Splatoon.

The last two games had duo Squid Gals each time, it'd make sense to EXPECT that again. You're not going to blow up over expected.

Remember, Marina also blew up for being an Octoling.
