@Bobb - I don't doubt that, I understand the reasoning WHY Persona 5 is so popular, just like how Monster Hunter Tri was the gateway that grew MH the same way.
I am just saying with all the coverage, I feel like I already know the plot points and experience when compared to P4 and 3.
I am probably going to get slammed for this because it would be deemed unconstructive, but; I think it's because of all the exposure, I am not as excited for Persona 5 as I am for 4 & 3. Since I don't recall them to be as lauded over, but seeing similar stuff out of them.
I feel like I already played 5 because of all its coverage.
I suspect he'll return to Danganronpa if Raincode doesn't pan out. But the topic if Danganronpa would return to form is another thing. Even he knows it's niche.
Personally, Rain Code looks to be more promising and honestly, more open ended. From even the story bits we know it sounds like a formula they can revisit more often than Monokuma.
@Royalblues - Pretty sure the scope of his musical talent isn't just only energetic as you see on Persona games, which fit the style of the game very Very well.
I bet he has an understanding of how Zelda music works, with the more classical progressive epic styles we've heard for ages. I think it would be a good match. Not the greatest, but I am sure he'd impress.
It's funny, this conversation reminds me of how people usually fan-cast roles of characters in movies with how one LOOKS, and Heath Ledger was "too pretty" for Joker at the time and he nailed the style of Dark Knight amazingly well.
@Riderkicker - I do too, but I understood the change as to why. Still a fun game though, play it in sporadic sessions. Something I can't say about Overwatch after the first year.
I only had three mobile games on my phone, cause most are gacha passive "art collections." I like to be engaged, and encouraged to be engaged, when it comes to gaming.
Now I am left with Brawl Stars and Flash Party.
Here's hoping Nintendo does something new with the IP.
@turntSNACO - Getting proper equipment to play it isn't free though. My PC is just under recommended for OW2. I can theoretically play it on Switch, but OW1 was as unenjoyable as it was, it wouldn't be worth the frustration.
But it still applies on principle. Service games can essentially choose when you're done playing the game. Even if you bought it. Even some single player games require online for this. Don't like it.
It was... Alright. Not the biggest wow factors in the series, but it had some good stuff.
Didn't like the new direction Fire Emblem has taken, looks cheesy. Atelier Ryza looks to wrap up the series well enough. Pikmin 4 is exciting. Was hoping something on F-Zero would come up (that isn't service game friendly).
@Zyph - Depends on the "series." A couple later on got an extention with another game untethered by the main story the trilogies are commonly known for.
Good example is Sophie 2, which was pretty recent.
@JayJ - That was because they focused on PS2 development first cause the market of buyers there over the GCN.
Hell, bet those same games didn't play better on the Xbox at the time either. That's the point.
They could put more focus developing and optimizing the game on the lower hardware, and port it to the more powerful hardware instead of making the excuses again that Tech benchmarks are more important. It's financially silly.
@JayJ - Gunna press X on the parity thing. The PS2 wasn't that close to the other two releases and everyone always focused on the PS2 for development first, and the graphics of their latter ports were pretty reflective of that.
However, that really doesn't justify hopping over the Switch (namely its market) for the sake of tech benchmarks to showcase. As is the way of the current generation of consoles. On a business standpoint, overlooking a Switch port is just silly.
Unless you need that power to hide your lack of optimization efforts, which is also very likely.
Which gets even more hilarious when you consider how far behind the PS5 is compared to the PC, as that gap is increasing as well, but the developers still essentially choose the "weaker" hardware amongst the upper echelon. Simply because it can get ported across more powerful systems easily... But that doesn't count for Switch, cause reasons.
You'd be surprised how often this does happen. Tells me there was some, at some level, a bit of mishandled funds. As it usually is the catalyst on most projects. Always be ready for a flop.
Shame though, regardless. Cause the game looks fun, and the talent looked promising.
Anyone else baffled by the change of ideals for game development since the Xbox 360?
Almost every game was developed for the PS2 first and foremost and then dragged evenly to other consoles with minor improvements. Now it's whatever is the most powerful, but not too powerful to port it to very similar hardware, isolating what is the LARGEST possible market because simply the tech isn't powerful enough.
Hell, people would go through the extra work to get a more powerful game on the PS2. Because that market was JUICY.
Someone hasn't done research of vinyl in a long time.
And has never experienced bit rot. Which, the reader will repeatedly wear down with its light, which generates heat and the film cracks. Once that happens it's hosed permanently.
PS1s and CD formats are notorious in this, for example. PS2 is getting reports periodically.
This only tells me that no matter how much people told me that bike jackets are gross when I was a teen were flat out lying and sabotaged high school for me.
@jcboyer515 - Did you purposely overlook "of old" to make an insult on someone for no reason? Dude, not a good look.
But if you wanted me to elaborate, I mean the game has potential to give a nostalgic action game vibe akin to the original DMC releases. Do I think the quality of the games can do that now? No, hence why I said it has the capacity to do so.
As for reaching modern day DMC, that would require marketing and budgets I don't think South Korean indies have access to very much.
Regardless of all its (obvious) blemishes of the first one, I quite enjoyed it. I actually hope to see it rise to popularity and quality to give DMC of old a run for its money.
Honestly, no matter how much people detail the beard to me, I cannot see the smile. In spite of me never seeing such a protruding smile on anyone else.
Also, fun note; since Ganon reverted back to his OoT model, Steve is the only bearded dude in Smash now.
Didn't someone behind The End is Nigh also want to stress their community out? That didn't go too well for him, either. It's probably not the greatest tactic to work with.
But at least it has more appealing style and The End is Nigh, though.
I think Nintendo isn't intentionally ommiting their gender identity here. It's probably just oversight, knowing Nintendo, and the community at large is looking into it more than what's actually truly there.
I half suspect it to come up confirming the gender in a patch or event update later on.

Re: '90s-Inspired Platformer Clive 'N' Wrench Will Finally Land On Switch Early 2023
Been itching for more 3D platformer. Got so bad I Kickstarter'd for the first time in over 10 years (just ten bucks but still).
Count me in.

Can't "get" something they won't let you own.
Re: Talking Point: Given The Voice Artist Controversy, Will You Be Boycotting Bayonetta 3?
Dude, she is even attacking Jennifer now because she got tapped for her role.
That's petty, beyond petty. That's not where you go if the grievances are just Nintendo and Platinum. Almost makes me want to double dip, almost.

Re: The Legend Of Heroes: Trails To Azure Releases Next March On Switch
@IronMan30 - The last five years was just a fad, Switch is finally slowing down and the developers are jumping ship. They won't last.
Literally started Zero last night. Wanting to wait til Cold Steel gets its localization so I can play through it entirely.

Honestly didn't even realize they went live. Usually hear about their big releases.
Ironically, been playing Paladins this week.

See, this is what gets a bad taste in my mouth.
Don't have the budget or means for Overwatch 2? Would like to at least have access to play a game you bought perhaps with offline LAN networking?
Activision Blizzard believes you're no longer entitled to Overwatch 1, get two and be glad they even allowed you to have the old skins.

Overall, pretty content with what was shown.
Re: Feature: Rayman Is Back In 'Mario + Rabbids Sparks Of Hope' - So Is He Actually Cool Now?
Rayman 3 hails as one of the better 3D outings he had, I will always champion more of that. Also Hoodlums were still their greatest enemy faction.
And I think the absence of him has made people fonder to the idea. Much like BG&E, where no one really cared, it garnered appreciation over time.

Re: Soapbox: Splatoon 3's Midnight Launch Felt A Bit Different
I used to have three local shops that did midnight releases coupled with tournaments.
Long before the lockdowns, Gamestop bought them all up, and never had a midnight release again outside Starcraft 2.

My favorite game is panned as 5, 6, and 7s constantly.
Re: Random: Ever Wanted To Know What It's Like To Peel A Pokémon And Eat It?

Re: Talking Point: Which Nintendo Series Would Work Best As A Free-To-Play Game?
None.
On the simple premise that you are entirely at the company's will of how long you get to play it on ANY level.
I hate when Paladins adds new content and discover it broke half the good things and then you have to wait for the next major update for those fixes.
"Keeping things fresh" doesn't seem to be a problem with games like Smash Melee, or Toadstool Tour. But apparently it's a necessity to do so nowadays.

Re: Random: Splatoon 3's Big Man Has Some Big Fans Online
I mean, it makes sense. Big Man is the outlier character to the standard expectations of the idols in Splatoon.
The last two games had duo Squid Gals each time, it'd make sense to EXPECT that again. You're not going to blow up over expected.
Remember, Marina also blew up for being an Octoling.
