I don’t think so.
People go on about PS5 vs Xbox, but xbox as a console is almost dead now especially Phil Spencer’s comments today.

To me the biggest console rivalry is Sony and Nintendo. They are the two companies that need to sell consoles and use that as a business model.

Switch 2 way overdue. And know I’ve almost lost interest in Switch 2 and Nintendo.

My gamer 2022 and 2023 game time hours stats.
Switch first place, me spending lots of money on Switch games and eco system.
Series x and PS5 sharing second and third.

My 2024 stats.
PS5 first
Series x second
Switch third, spent zero on Switch games or eco system 2024.

They really are a whole year late with the Switch 2 console and the technology will be even further out of date Switch 2 wise, when it’s released.

On going on what we know we will get a bit of upgrade but general same Nintendo graphics and also getting to the point of same cut and paste.
3 Mario Party games, same type of Yoshi games.
Can’t go anywhere with Mario kart really.
8 years since a new Mario 3d platform game.
Only 1 new 2d Mario platform game.

They have sold millions of Switch consoles but us gamers deserved more AAA Nintendo studio games and a new console a year ago.

And there is no way Switch 2 will come close to some lucky circumstances sales of the Switch.
Times have moved on and more options hand held wise are available.

Sorry Nintendo but you gonna tumble down a bit with Switch 2.

I think they have missed judge this, especially as some say it has been ready for a while.
Which like you said the tech will be older than it should be on release.

It will sell to start with, but I am very sure the longevity and sales like the Switch has had will definitely not happen with Switch 2.
There are more options now and better powered machines around.
I mean Switch 2 will get a raft of third party games but all old ones that were the PS4 era and I don’t want to play them again.

Unless they have some amazing AAA new formula first party games I may even give Switch 2 a miss, Nintendo have repeated a lot with Switch and I bet it will just be a repeat process with Switch 2.
It was ok for Switch repeating things but do it two generations back to back and it starts to get stale.

Of course they will wait to next year.
They are a business and want to sell as many Switch consoles and games over the busy Christmas period and New Year sale.

Anyone that thought other wise, was thinking from the heart and not the business brain.

Out of all three big companies, Nintendo are the most shrewdest.

I still think they should sold Switch 2 early this year 2024. The company have not had one penny out of this year.
They have gone from most played and spent on in 2023 to last place in 2024 for me.
They have been a whole year late.

It’s definitely time for Switch 2.
My Switch thinks I’ve abandoned it for the whole year.
My Switch was my most played console going on the end of year stats above series x and PS5 in 2023, by a lot of hours.

2024 the Switch will be in last place.
Lack of top new AAA games from Nintendo own studios, third party games no support for the new games.

More remakes.
Can’t we just have a new Rayman game.

Looks nice for those that like this sort of game.

I won’t buying another single Nintendo game until Switch 2 finally makes an appearance and as long as we get that big AAA 3d Mario or DK platform game on Switch 2 release or an upgraded Metroid 4 for Switch 2.

Will be interesting if my 1 game token I have left will move over to Switch 2 and I can use it on a new Switch 2 game. Time will tell.

That white OLED with Mario Wonder and 12 months online is a really good deal.

I’m the UK for the second month running they are actually third behind the series consoles.
I’m not surprised it’s nearly 8 years old and still does very well.

I still think they should have gone Switch 2 may this year latest November this year.

It’s starting show though the old man, only managed one new 3d and 2d outing on the Switch in 8 years of the console being alive.

They need to reveal very soon before the whole thing just leaks and also possibly some games as well.

Just like the new PS5 Pro model and specs all leaked and none of it was a surprise.

Apart from the shocking price.

This always happens with big games.
Had to stay away with Astro Bot and now Zelda until I get it play the game.

It’s the internet and the moving forward of technology, things don’t just sit on a hard drive anymore, they are across the company or business on intranet or even in cloud.
So they are easier to get hold of and steal.

They should have done for this Christmas.
It would have been great for fans and given us an amazing 3d Mario game to play on switch.
Even though a remake.
Better than nothing new, Mario 3d wise.

Nintendo just make a new Mario 3d game for switch.
Will be 7 years this October, that is too long a gap.
And also not even a new 2d Donkey Kong for Switch. Absolutely ridiculous.

I wish that had happened in the Europe/UK might get Sony to think twice about their prices.

Odyssey is amazing but after waiting probably 7 years and 6 months when Switch 2 releases it best the best ever Mario 3d platform game.

It’s ridiculous how long we had to wait and not even a new 2d Donkey Kong platform game either for Switch.

I know Nintendo’s studios are amazing and have astonishing achievements but it’s taking the biscuit a bit really.

Funny you say that, my son never gelled with Mario Odyssey but really enjoyed Mario 3d world games and also Astro Bot.

Well Nintendo should have got off their butts and made another new 3d Mario game for the switch.

One new 3d Mario game Odyssey from Nintendo in 8 years is piss poor.

Did you know there was only 3 years between Mario Galaxy 1 and 2.
And the Switch is that much of an advancement to develop for time wise.

Let’s just chill and enjoy the wonderful gaming moments of Mario and Astro Bot.

Waiting, what will be a minimum of 7 years and 7 month’s for a new Mario 3d platform is so painful and ridiculous really. Especially on a console that has lived nearly 8 years in 2025.

How about a new Mario 3d platform game from Nintendo studios.
If and when we get the next one after the amazing Mario Odyssey it will be about 8 years since or near to it.

I mean even if they had chucked out Mario Galaxy 2 remake for this Christmas, it would have been a little something.

I find it so hard to believe after BOTW in 2017 then TOTK and now echo’s.

That no other developers or the other big two haven’t copied or sort of replicated these 3 games mechanics in some way or the ideas of.

Nintendo in their own way seem so ahead of the times in game development.

With Zelda echo and Astro bot hopefully we can finally have some top quality new AAA gaming for 2024.
The utter dribble that has been released as AAA gaming this year with bad optimisation, poor quality, bugs and game play, the latest being sw outlaws, it has not been a great year.

All being well these two should set the record straight.

Not taking anything away from these amazing developers, but it’s how I wish the rest of console world was.
Development for one console.
You will then lean all the best techniques and the consoles strengths in the best way possible.

Sony are similar but have disappeared for 2024 almost.
Xbox makes for a number of devices.

This is why Nintendo’s AAA first party studios are second to nobody.

This dam switch 2 best release with some top end Nintendo studio AAA games.
I mean there is cooking the dam thing and then there is incinerating it.

I think I will buy nothing and save it all for Switch 2, when the big new AAA games turn up.

Will have to be N64 and it seemed a great era for me game wise as well, especially with the 3d revolution and MARIO 64 and Wave Racer to name two.

I think we get them during the Switch 2 life span as it’s meant to be backwards compatible.
This might be three years after Switch 2 release.
It depends on business strategy cost reward etc.

Keeping simple in between doing things outdoors as weather is nice.

After 7 years this October mario deserves a new 3d platform outing, but we won’t be getting that at least until sometime in 2025 maybe even 8 years after Mario Odyssey.

You would have never of thought Mario Galaxy 1 and Mario Galaxy 2 had 2 years and 7 months between releases.

I was ready late 2023 and early 2024.
To me they have left it a bit late and I think from a product life span and sales point of few they should have gone March 2024, sales number from Jan 2024 show us this. But may also be slightly due to no really new massive big AAA this year.

Financially product life span, I can’t comment on the pros and cons but from a console sales point of few they definitely should have had Switch 2 out by latest March 2024.

So glad LM3 did well and now LM2 HD.
Means we stand a very good chance we will get a LM4 on Switch 2.
Also it shouldn’t be that far off with NLG working on it.

Yes the game does look better at 1080p.
It’s more what the Sony TV is doing with its masterful process power to bring the best out in the Switch console.

Luigi mansion 2 HD
Just recently connected my Switch to my new Sony x95l 65” tv.
After adjusting settings I have never seen the Switch look so good. Mainly focusing on panning around so clear and smooth movement, no rubbish bluring and looking messy when rotating the camera in TOTK, amazing TV.
I’ve had an LG C3 and Samsung S90D but they can’t touch that Sony motion processing when set up correctly.

Really could have done with these when the switch released. Like when the PS5 released Sony released the sweet of products to go with it like the official charging dock.

Unless Switch 2 can use these then no thanks Nintendo a bit late in the day like the release of the switch 2 console in my opinion.

Great achievement and great game.

But god knows how Nintendo move MK forward with this game, it has so many tracks and so much diversity for a racing game.

The online is still so strong as well and I’ve racked up about 8000 racing points and still enjoy now and again.

I’m not sure how I would take the MK series forward if it was my decision.

Switch is my joint favourite Nintendo console along with the Wii, had both since day one.

But come on get on with it and give us the well over due Switch 2.

The only thing that will stop if the big AAA Nintendo software is not there day one, but I’m sure it will be as they have taken a long time getting Switch 2 out and the games ready so they say.

We shouldn’t worry to much time Switch 2 gets here you can order the console on line and it materialise into your front room through teleportation.

I still believe Switch 2 should have been here last November 2023 or latest March 2024.
Going by the latest UK sales even the Xbox consoles outsold original Switch and that has never happened. And PS5 outsold both combined.

All I can hope for now is March 2025 at the very earliest. Don’t get me wrong had some fabulous times with Switch but it seems so strung out now way beyond it’s time.

Even though I would never recommend Game in store due to the prices compared to say Smyths Toys deals or Currys.
I have purchased all my consoles and that’s all the consoles day one from Game through pre-order or being there at midnight like for the Nintendo GameCube and return home with Luigi’s Mansion as well. And getting 3 points for speeding 🤣.

They are good for console day one pre-orders so god knows what I will do day one for Switch 2.

It’s needs to show why it’s an upgrade and different from the Switch.
I know PlayStation seems to do it with little upgrades each generation and PS4 Pro to PS5 has been the worst so far, but the Switch sells millions to family’s and times are hard currently.

If they deliver on the games and show a gap over the Switch it could sell just as well. But I have that feeling and I know some disagree on here that Switch 2 will not produce a game looking anything near Horizon Forbidden West on PS4 or PS4 pro or Forza Horizon 5 on series s and of course lacking on the new third party games as well.

Some say the Switch 2 will have enough power to produce those graphics etc of HFW but even if it does Nintendo’s in house studios won’t produce those graphics, environments etc etc.
It may help with new third party games though.

You can have the most powerful hardware in the world but if you developed say the 80s game space invaders it would probably be quicker than it was back in the 80s because of development tools and lessons learnt since the 80s.
More powerful hardware doesn’t mean longer development times unless you wish to use that extra power.
