Re: Nintendo Apologises For "Error" With Mention Of Switch 2 VRR TV Support

OldGamer999

@Sebcooper72
What gets me the most is Microsoft are mainly a software company unlike Nintendo and Sony and have totally spanked them both with VRR.

Series x does VRR and all its formats on both HDMI 2.0 and HDMI 2.1.
It also has low frame rate compensation hardware built in, taking the VRR rate below the standard 48fps.

How can software Microsoft get it all perfect and good for gamers and Sony and Nintendo the hardware firms balls it up to various degrees. They really don’t deserve the love and sales sometimes gamers and the general public give them.

I don’t think it is lack of knowledge, it’s pure penny pinching.

Re: GameStop To Offer Additional Switch 2 Units In-Store And Online At Launch

OldGamer999

@-wc-
Nice to see someone actually get me on here and what I’m saying and you summed it up with what you said.
Yes the fandom for Nintendo is crazy at times like Nintendo can do no wrong.

I feel Nintendo and Sony are roughly in the same place, they have sold loads of consoles and racking in the cash and have got slack and are both at the top of the tree in their respective areas and cruising it.

This creates smiles for them but also complacency which leads to more cash for us to pay for probably less.

When Sony and Nintendo have good competition and are up against, we really seeing them trying to gain market share back and both really and do great things.

This generation with Sony and Xbox and now Nintendo with switch 2 it’s an up hill struggle with all three of them, jsut dancing their own tune and doing whatever they want without thought for gamers.

Re: GameStop To Offer Additional Switch 2 Units In-Store And Online At Launch

OldGamer999

Most of my family have switch of some sort and enjoy them.
It’s has sold so well, but there is only just me with a preorder for switch 2.
Of course I have mentioned it to them but none are in a rush to buy switch 2.
Most say they are happy with switch and some mention the cost of switch 2.

Outside of us nutty gamers and to reach the highs of Switch, believe me when I say this, Nintendo will have their work cut out.

Re: Zelda Fans Are Concerned About The Free Switch 2 Updates, But Don't Worry

OldGamer999

@jfp
I was excited but once I sat back I thought more it died down a lot. Yes TOTK at 60fps etc sounds great but I have completed almost all of it and hundreds of hours into it. I don’t want to do it again, I want something new.

I think some of it is no Mario 3d game at launch after waiting almost 8 years since the amazing Mario Odyssey, not including Bowsers Fury of course.

As for DKB it’s great the ape is getting his own new 3d game, but I have watched lots of videos on it for the events, I’m still not sure it’s a Nintendo studio classic like Mario Odyssey or TOTK.
DKB may well be Nintendos first in house big AAA sub 90 meta game and I think it will, it won’t click that well. Might be a pretty dam good game but not that Nintendo big click game. You know what I mean.

Re: Zelda Fans Are Concerned About The Free Switch 2 Updates, But Don't Worry

OldGamer999

@jfp
I have had every Nintendo home console day one since the SNES and onwards and been extremely excited about them all even the WII U.
But they just don’t seem the same and my excitement for switch 2 is probably the lowest for any new Nintendo console.
They seem to skimp on simple things. VRR docked for example it’s 2025.
When I heard GameCube was coming and wind waker i thought, brilliant.
But it has no wind screen no better performance and they even have the WII U version to get it from. It’s dam lazy.

Re: Zelda Fans Are Concerned About The Free Switch 2 Updates, But Don't Worry

OldGamer999

@jfp
It’s not just tflops I just expected a bit more from Nintendo after 8 years.
I guess it had panned out how I said about 2 years ago.
The console seems late in arrival.
We won’t get too much from Nintendo big AAA not until 2026.
Yes MKW looks good.
DKB, opinions are a little out on that one.
The rest are little upgrades or add ons to existing games.
The rest of the games are old games from third party studios.

I mean they have had over 8 years to get this ready and now no VRR in docked mode.
High price for what it all is really.

I almost begged for a home console version as well for say about £300 with a switch 2 pro controller. But no.

And £75 for a switch 2 pro controller that has zero functionality compared to a dualsense controller that is £70.

Nintendo as great as they can be are starting to mug us gamers off.

Re: Zelda Fans Are Concerned About The Free Switch 2 Updates, But Don't Worry

OldGamer999

Why don’t Nintendo just tell us rather than assumptions and guess work.

Good forbid Nintendo just tell us something.
Well at least we know they won’t have VRR in Docked mode, that’s one thing Nintendo did tell us, lame.

Along with the not that great launch line up from Nintendo’s own studios and more news about key cards, No VRR in docked mode and no it won’t be updated it’s impossible due to connections used.

My preorder may get surrendered any moment now.
£400 for a 3tflop console is not looking good now.

Re: Nintendo Apologises For "Error" With Mention Of Switch 2 VRR TV Support

OldGamer999

I really wish Samsung or some company in South Korea would step up into the gaming console industry, just like they did in the TV and car market and teach both Sony and Nintendo about corporate greed and pure complacency and give them stiff competition.

Sony and Nintendo have no real competition in the console market and you can see this in both their do less make more profit attitudes.

Re: Nintendo Switch 2 Final Tech Specs Have Been Confirmed

OldGamer999

Not sure why they bothered with game chat.
They seem to think they will bring the world together.
In reality it will be a little niche thing that some try for a bit and a very small minority will use more regular.

Got it now, Nintendo want to sell us a camera for £50, silly me it’s all about the money and sales.

Surely if a game is not using game chat then the developers should be able to get that extra power back.
Sometimes I think these consoles designers and engineers make some crap decisions or the suits high up do.

Re: Nintendo Defends Switch 2's Perceived Lack Of Innovation

OldGamer999

The switch 2 is ok ish but I have gone off the product overall since I preordered.

£400 for 3tflops max docked is poor performance for even old games.

The in house AAA releases so far for 2025 are not great, but not the same original Switch excitement especially with no BOTW and Mario Odyssey.

It’s the same Nintendo fair really and maybe it’s because I’m now 8 years old since the original Switch.
For me it’s been far too long from the original switch to switch 2 and the upgrade and console innovation and games. This should have been maximum 5 years after original switch not just over 8 years.

It’s too little to late and the thought of playing last generation games at 30fps let alone new generation games is horrible.

Will probably surrender my preorder and this will be first time ever I have not owned a new Nintendo console day one since the SNES, N64, Wii, Wii U and Switch days.
That tells ya something about switch 2 and Nintendo in 2025.
That is after 5 Nintendo generation consoles I probably won’t own a switch 2 day one.

Re: Nintendo Shares More Footage Of Zelda: Wind Waker On Switch 2

OldGamer999

@StewdaMegaManNerd
I get what you mean but really felt it towards the last year or so of the switch and now with the Switch 2.
I have a switch 2 and pro controller preordered, but after some thoughts game wise might surrender it and might pick one up later down the line.
MKW looks pretty dam good.
DKB no one is sure on that one.
The rest are old games that run a lot worse than on current generation consoles that I have.
The omission of a new 3d Mario platformer which since Odyssey has been missing has sort of made release day and games a bit underwhelming.
Then in August we Kirby again with an extra bit, what have they been doing at Nintendo HQ all these years.

Re: Nintendo Shares More Footage Of Zelda: Wind Waker On Switch 2

OldGamer999

@dskatter
Totally agree but Ssshhhhh the Nintendo gang on here gonna duff you up know. 🤣

Because how dare we don’t let Nintendo mug us off, with a game in 2025 a lot worse than the Wii U 16:9 widescreen HD with quality of life improvements.
Especially as they could have put some effort in to make it widescreen, not like they haven’t got the money now a days as well.

Used it think Nintendo where amazing in the Wii days and even the Wii U days and the start of the Switch era.
Now they just corporate money bags 💰

Re: Talking Point: With Prices Rising, Are Your Gaming Habits Changing?

OldGamer999

Yep I keep looking at the price of new games and my series x and my game pass ultimate subscription which runs until March 2027 at the old £11.99 per month rate fully paid for.

Then I look at the GPU better release schedule since late 2025 and 2026 and think it is so much cheaper and amazing value.

Games since late 2025 I have played on GPU on series x and coming this year so far:

Stalker
Indy Jones
COD BO
AVOWED
ATOM Fall
South of Midnight
Oblivion remaster
COD Modern warefare 2022
Doom
Gears of war reloaded
Outer World 2
COD 2025
And probably some unannounced games to come this year and that is only the games I have played not including the great expedition 33 on game pass ultimate day one.
Just add that up in money.

My subscription £148 for the year.
That’s about two full price games or two MKW full price on release day.

Re: Switch 2 Joy-Con 'HD Rumble' Won't Be As Loud As It Was On Switch

OldGamer999

Does the switch pro controller have this feature. As never noticed it in a single game, all the Nintendo AAA.

When compared to a Sony dualsense which is £5 cheaper than a switch 2 pro controller you get more controller action and activity, any one that has played Astro Bot will tell you this.
Sound, haptics, trigger resistance etc.

Re: Video: Nintendo Shares More Footage Of Zelda: Wind Waker For Switch Online

OldGamer999

@jfp
F zero is wide screen, but was also originally.
It’s a shame a little bit of effort of wasn’t put on to make wind waker wide screen.
It’s is 2025.

It’s not like they haven’t got the WII U version for this also with the quality of life improvements as well.

Hang on forgot, coming soon wind waker HD remake with widescreen and charge for switch 2, more money.

Re: Nintendo Of America President On Timing Of Switch 2's Release Date

OldGamer999

@nusco
Wow you went to the switch 2 event, thanks for the report, have seen some of it in videos.

Yes MKW does look good.
Silly me forgot about MP4, that’s game is looking very good.
Will be interesting to see how DKB turns out on release, there is a little bit of not sure about it going around with those that have tried it.

I don’t think Nintendo where ever gonna beat the Switch with BOTW then Mario Odyssey hype for me. Two utterly amazing big AAA games that took hundreds of hours of my life 🤣

I wouldn’t say I’m disappointed just a bit, seems ok, if you own PS5 Pro like I do anything third party on Switch or Switch 2 as I only play docked is never gonna get anywhere near that level.

Re: Nintendo Of America President On Timing Of Switch 2's Release Date

OldGamer999

@nusco
I sort of get what the other person said.
Take out the upgraded games and third party old games if you are a multi console owner like myself, including switch day one.
Then you are not left with that much.

I definitely don’t feel the buzz of Switch 2 over Switch. Switch had far more buzz for me.
BOTW and knowing Mario Odyssey was also out 7 months later gave the Switch launch a lot more buzz for me.

Yes MKW is what it is but it’s tracks and racing, ok at its best for a kart racer.
DKB a new ip really with some unknown edges to it.
Remember it’s been over 8 years, I was expecting more from release of switch 2 games wise.

I do still have my Switch 2 preorder MKW bundle and Switch 2 Pro controller, but I’m on the fence being honest.

Re: Major French Retailer Says Switch 2 Pre-Orders At "Historic Level"

OldGamer999

@Magician
I know I go against the grain.
But I fancied a switch 2 home only version as well, they have the switch 2 pro controller and could have done switch 2 home console with switch 2 pro controller for £300.
Would have been more appealing to me and I know some would have taken this on release as a second home console for the Nintendo in house AAA games.

@Magician
It’s definitely gonna sell on release day and very well at Christmas 2025.
I think it’s needs a steady stream of Nintendo in house AAA to keep the momentum going moving forward after that.
It’s not a cheap console anymore and not the cheapest, I think the series s is. Then also you have Microsoft and Sony getting ready to release hand held consoles as well.

I don’t think Switch 2 will have it all its own way as the Switch did due to price, competition and a slightly different environment going forward into 2026 and of course we never want another Covid, that pushed Switch sales.
