Re: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom And Breath Of The Wild Updates Now Live, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

@hashkey
I know it’s a handheld hybrid but I want more power just a personal thing.
When you have a PS5 pro as well, my brain sometimes thinks imagine those amazing big AAA Nintendo games running with that power and graphical fidelity etc.

I’m fine with switch 2 and very happy with the new power and improvements but it also makes me release it’s a generation behind the pure home consoles. So in about 2028 it will be two generations behind.

Being honest switch 2 could have been out in about late 2022 as a switch pro, doing all the things the switch 2 does today.

Like I said I’m very happy and really enjoying but even a little more power say 4 to 5 tflops docked would have given us cyberpunk at 60fps, 40fps runs well on my docked set up but 60fps would have the icing on the cake.

Anyway can’t wait for DKB next month.

TOTK so much better running at 60fps, so much smoother and clear when panning around and general game movement.
The sharper image is also a pleasure to the eyes.
And the load times make the camera a little more immersive, rather than that longer wait when fast traveling etc.

It’s been a long time coming getting Nintendo into the better technology and these improvements, but I guess at least it’s finally here now.
I’m hoping they only leave it about five years this time until switch 3.

Re: Switch 2 Is Nintendo's Biggest UK Console Launch Of All Time

OldGamer999

With the switch 2 and because of the console price point etc.
They are really gonna to have to learn into their big in house AAA games and keep them coming at the usual top quality Nintendo do.

This is more relevant than ever with Xbox having so many studios and then along with the very new big AAA third party games will get nowhere the performance on the switch 2 if the games turn up even.

PS5 will also next year starting kicking into gear with their own big AAA release and with Xbox putting their big ip AAA on Sonys machine, it’s the machine to have PS5 or PS5 pro.

Then there is other handhelds to chose from compared to when the switch launched.

I know a lot of switch owners put off by the switch 2 price and after DKB the lack of new Nintendo in house new big AAA games coming late 2025 and into 2026.

Nintendo will have their work cut out with the switch 2 and really need to bring those in house big AAA games if they want very good success.

I have a switch 2 and pro controller and loving it, but that’s just me.

Re: Digital Foundry Delivers Its Mario Kart World Tech Review - "Nintendo's Artistry Stands Out The Most Here"

OldGamer999

@Suketoudara
I don’t go close to the tv when doing any settings. I always do at my normal viewing distance.

Also I’m not given Nintendo a pass on this, as they get enough sometimes.
But this is there first ever console with ALLM, 120Hz and HDR so they may have more learning to do.

Unlike the Sony and Xbox who’s consoles have it for a few generations.

Re: Digital Foundry Delivers Its Mario Kart World Tech Review - "Nintendo's Artistry Stands Out The Most Here"

OldGamer999

@Suketoudara
The thing with TVs they are all slightly different
As for the colours and hdr points, maybe adjust some tv settings.

I have the switch set to 120hz ALLM on and HDR on.

One question your TV definitely can do 120hz and also in the TV port you are using and the HDMI lead?

I only have two 2:1 ports as I have a Sony A95L 65” QD-OLED so have to pick the right port.

Re: PSA: Got A Switch 2 Pro Controller? This Little Capture Trick Is A Game-Changer

OldGamer999

@Stwert
I play 100% docked on A Sony A95L 65” QD OLED and it’s perfect.
HDR, 120hz, ALLM and for some reason VRR is on which it should not be. But it all works perfectly picture wise.

As for sound what an improvement on the new games and TOTK Upgrade full real 5:1, my rear speakers pick every sound of links sword etc.
and the panning around the sounds go with you front and rear, such improvement in a game.

I’m in aerospace engineering, and a trained engineer, such fun.

Re: Review: Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition (Switch 2) - A Superb Port Of An Incredible RPG

OldGamer999

Think I shall be getting this game.
Will be playing docked on a 120hz TV so 40fps and of course with motion blurr off.

For some weird reason my TV allows VRR mode on when switch is docked, which it should not do if it isn’t getting a VRR signal.
I’m not saying it is actually working but there is something signal wise coming from the switch 2 docked VRR wise.
I left it on and all seems perfect anyway.
HDR is great as well and the 120hz signal is coming through to the TV and as well.
And all is running perfect.

Re: Hardware Review (In Progress): Nintendo Switch 2 - A Faster, Slicker, Sexier Switch

OldGamer999

@electrolite77
I only play docked, but it is proving better than I thought it would be.
It really shines on my Sony A95L 65” and the syncing and settings with the TV really work perfectly picture wise and such a sound improvement my rear speakers are used now properly it’s loads better with true 5:1 sound.
And guess what the TV has VRR turned on which it shouldn’t do as switch 2 doesn’t have VRR when docked
So there is a VRR signal coming out the switch 2 to the TV somewhere.

Also the new pro controller feels a level and great as well.

Re: Site News: We've Got A Switch 2

OldGamer999

This is very interesting the switch 2 release but more so the games.
Mario kart world and donkey king bananza from Nintendo studios.
With just these two games and within a month Nintendo studios can go from developer gaming gods with the likes of TOTK, Mario Odyssey and Mario wonder, with mid to high 90s on metacritic to mid to high 80s with MKW and DKB.

putting them back in the Xbox studio recent releases score zone and not Nintendos studios normal GOD like status.

They have taken big risks with MKW and more so DKB and I hope they have done right and maintain the god like status as that means god like games for us gamers.

Re: Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Footage Shows 60fps Gameplay For Switch 2

OldGamer999

@kmtrain83
I don’t think it’s solving it, it’s having the power to do it.
I mean Doom ages and assassins creed shadows are both very graphical and a good 60fps on PS5 and series x. If we bring the in Pro even better.

I was just hoping those games like cyberpunk and Hogwarts would have got to 60fps on switch 2 but with a base hand held 1.7 tflops it’s asking to much even with graphical cut backs.
I think docked at just over 3tflops and Nividea DLSS I was wishing to much.
If Nintendo had just pushed it docked to about 4.4 tflops we would have got there and with VRR had they not messed that up docked it could have been a lot better.

Re: Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Footage Shows 60fps Gameplay For Switch 2

OldGamer999

It seems the switch 2 will be the little upgrade machine to 60fps and maybe some slight graphical improvements like sharper image over switch.

As soon as it gets to complex like cyber punk and Hogwarts we are back to 30fps.

Maybe DKB will be the game to make the switch really shine at 60fps gaming.

I know it’s almost impossible in a handheld at 1.7 tflops, especially considering battery life and costs.

Re: Retailer Smyths Is Holding A Switch 2 Midnight Launch Across All UK Stores

OldGamer999

All those worried about Smyths Toys and payments.

If it is being delivered, they will take the money once it has been despatched.

If it is click and collect at store, they take the money once you have gone to the store to collect it.

Also remember if you are a click and collect at store they will only hold it for 2 days as of release date 5th of June 2025. After that you lose your click and collect order.

Re: Rumour: A Nintendo Direct May Drop Around The Switch 2's Launch

OldGamer999

@MrGawain
You are in the same state as me.
I have MKW bundle preordered, but I’m not sure if it’s worth it just yet.
MKW looking good, DKB not totally sure and that’s is it for me from Nintendo in house AAA.
I thought they would have something else for the rest of year, if not, it’s not as good as the switch 1 line up.
Yes third party is better, but having the series x and Pro those games mean nothing to me of course and obviously won’t be as good.

It’s a strange release the switch 2 for me, as I have owned day one all the Nintendo consoles since the snes day one and been a lot more excited for them.

Re: Feature: "Game-Key Cards Don't Sit Right With Us" - Lost In Cult Dives Into Its New Physical Games Line

OldGamer999

I’m an old gamer and some fellow old gamers like me grew up with everything physical.
Music, film and gaming, seem to have changed and don’t mind.
I have been all digital with music, film and games probably for a decade now.

We just seem to get on with it and used to changing environments.
Someone mentioned on here it’s more the younger generation and I do know a few that always go physical with film and games.

Maybe it’s a possession thing or collection thing I’m not sure.
