Re: PSA: Got A Switch 2 Pro Controller? This Little Capture Trick Is A Game-Changer

OldGamer999

@Stwert
I play 100% docked on A Sony A95L 65” QD OLED and it’s perfect.
HDR, 120hz, ALLM and for some reason VRR is on which it should not be. But it all works perfectly picture wise.

As for sound what an improvement on the new games and TOTK Upgrade full real 5:1, my rear speakers pick every sound of links sword etc.
and the panning around the sounds go with you front and rear, such improvement in a game.

I’m in aerospace engineering, and a trained engineer, such fun.

Re: Review: Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition (Switch 2) - A Superb Port Of An Incredible RPG

OldGamer999

Think I shall be getting this game.
Will be playing docked on a 120hz TV so 40fps and of course with motion blurr off.

For some weird reason my TV allows VRR mode on when switch is docked, which it should not do if it isn’t getting a VRR signal.
I’m not saying it is actually working but there is something signal wise coming from the switch 2 docked VRR wise.
I left it on and all seems perfect anyway.
HDR is great as well and the 120hz signal is coming through to the TV and as well.
And all is running perfect.

Re: Hardware Review (In Progress): Nintendo Switch 2 - A Faster, Slicker, Sexier Switch

OldGamer999

@electrolite77
I only play docked, but it is proving better than I thought it would be.
It really shines on my Sony A95L 65” and the syncing and settings with the TV really work perfectly picture wise and such a sound improvement my rear speakers are used now properly it’s loads better with true 5:1 sound.
And guess what the TV has VRR turned on which it shouldn’t do as switch 2 doesn’t have VRR when docked
So there is a VRR signal coming out the switch 2 to the TV somewhere.

Also the new pro controller feels a level and great as well.

Re: Site News: We've Got A Switch 2

OldGamer999

This is very interesting the switch 2 release but more so the games.
Mario kart world and donkey king bananza from Nintendo studios.
With just these two games and within a month Nintendo studios can go from developer gaming gods with the likes of TOTK, Mario Odyssey and Mario wonder, with mid to high 90s on metacritic to mid to high 80s with MKW and DKB.

putting them back in the Xbox studio recent releases score zone and not Nintendos studios normal GOD like status.

They have taken big risks with MKW and more so DKB and I hope they have done right and maintain the god like status as that means god like games for us gamers.

Re: Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Footage Shows 60fps Gameplay For Switch 2

OldGamer999

@kmtrain83
I don’t think it’s solving it, it’s having the power to do it.
I mean Doom ages and assassins creed shadows are both very graphical and a good 60fps on PS5 and series x. If we bring the in Pro even better.

I was just hoping those games like cyberpunk and Hogwarts would have got to 60fps on switch 2 but with a base hand held 1.7 tflops it’s asking to much even with graphical cut backs.
I think docked at just over 3tflops and Nividea DLSS I was wishing to much.
If Nintendo had just pushed it docked to about 4.4 tflops we would have got there and with VRR had they not messed that up docked it could have been a lot better.

Re: Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Footage Shows 60fps Gameplay For Switch 2

OldGamer999

It seems the switch 2 will be the little upgrade machine to 60fps and maybe some slight graphical improvements like sharper image over switch.

As soon as it gets to complex like cyber punk and Hogwarts we are back to 30fps.

Maybe DKB will be the game to make the switch really shine at 60fps gaming.

I know it’s almost impossible in a handheld at 1.7 tflops, especially considering battery life and costs.

Re: Retailer Smyths Is Holding A Switch 2 Midnight Launch Across All UK Stores

OldGamer999

All those worried about Smyths Toys and payments.

If it is being delivered, they will take the money once it has been despatched.

If it is click and collect at store, they take the money once you have gone to the store to collect it.

Also remember if you are a click and collect at store they will only hold it for 2 days as of release date 5th of June 2025. After that you lose your click and collect order.

Re: Rumour: A Nintendo Direct May Drop Around The Switch 2's Launch

OldGamer999

@MrGawain
You are in the same state as me.
I have MKW bundle preordered, but I’m not sure if it’s worth it just yet.
MKW looking good, DKB not totally sure and that’s is it for me from Nintendo in house AAA.
I thought they would have something else for the rest of year, if not, it’s not as good as the switch 1 line up.
Yes third party is better, but having the series x and Pro those games mean nothing to me of course and obviously won’t be as good.

It’s a strange release the switch 2 for me, as I have owned day one all the Nintendo consoles since the snes day one and been a lot more excited for them.

Re: Feature: "Game-Key Cards Don't Sit Right With Us" - Lost In Cult Dives Into Its New Physical Games Line

OldGamer999

I’m an old gamer and some fellow old gamers like me grew up with everything physical.
Music, film and gaming, seem to have changed and don’t mind.
I have been all digital with music, film and games probably for a decade now.

We just seem to get on with it and used to changing environments.
Someone mentioned on here it’s more the younger generation and I do know a few that always go physical with film and games.

Maybe it’s a possession thing or collection thing I’m not sure.

Re: Nintendo Apologises For "Error" With Mention Of Switch 2 VRR TV Support

OldGamer999

@Sebcooper72
What gets me the most is Microsoft are mainly a software company unlike Nintendo and Sony and have totally spanked them both with VRR.

Series x does VRR and all its formats on both HDMI 2.0 and HDMI 2.1.
It also has low frame rate compensation hardware built in, taking the VRR rate below the standard 48fps.

How can software Microsoft get it all perfect and good for gamers and Sony and Nintendo the hardware firms balls it up to various degrees. They really don’t deserve the love and sales sometimes gamers and the general public give them.

I don’t think it is lack of knowledge, it’s pure penny pinching.

Re: GameStop To Offer Additional Switch 2 Units In-Store And Online At Launch

OldGamer999

@-wc-
Nice to see someone actually get me on here and what I’m saying and you summed it up with what you said.
Yes the fandom for Nintendo is crazy at times like Nintendo can do no wrong.

I feel Nintendo and Sony are roughly in the same place, they have sold loads of consoles and racking in the cash and have got slack and are both at the top of the tree in their respective areas and cruising it.

This creates smiles for them but also complacency which leads to more cash for us to pay for probably less.

When Sony and Nintendo have good competition and are up against, we really seeing them trying to gain market share back and both really and do great things.

This generation with Sony and Xbox and now Nintendo with switch 2 it’s an up hill struggle with all three of them, jsut dancing their own tune and doing whatever they want without thought for gamers.

Re: GameStop To Offer Additional Switch 2 Units In-Store And Online At Launch

OldGamer999

Most of my family have switch of some sort and enjoy them.
It’s has sold so well, but there is only just me with a preorder for switch 2.
Of course I have mentioned it to them but none are in a rush to buy switch 2.
Most say they are happy with switch and some mention the cost of switch 2.

Outside of us nutty gamers and to reach the highs of Switch, believe me when I say this, Nintendo will have their work cut out.

Re: Zelda Fans Are Concerned About The Free Switch 2 Updates, But Don't Worry

OldGamer999

@jfp
I was excited but once I sat back I thought more it died down a lot. Yes TOTK at 60fps etc sounds great but I have completed almost all of it and hundreds of hours into it. I don’t want to do it again, I want something new.

I think some of it is no Mario 3d game at launch after waiting almost 8 years since the amazing Mario Odyssey, not including Bowsers Fury of course.

As for DKB it’s great the ape is getting his own new 3d game, but I have watched lots of videos on it for the events, I’m still not sure it’s a Nintendo studio classic like Mario Odyssey or TOTK.
DKB may well be Nintendos first in house big AAA sub 90 meta game and I think it will, it won’t click that well. Might be a pretty dam good game but not that Nintendo big click game. You know what I mean.

Re: Zelda Fans Are Concerned About The Free Switch 2 Updates, But Don't Worry

OldGamer999

@jfp
I have had every Nintendo home console day one since the SNES and onwards and been extremely excited about them all even the WII U.
But they just don’t seem the same and my excitement for switch 2 is probably the lowest for any new Nintendo console.
They seem to skimp on simple things. VRR docked for example it’s 2025.
When I heard GameCube was coming and wind waker i thought, brilliant.
But it has no wind screen no better performance and they even have the WII U version to get it from. It’s dam lazy.

Re: Zelda Fans Are Concerned About The Free Switch 2 Updates, But Don't Worry

OldGamer999

@jfp
It’s not just tflops I just expected a bit more from Nintendo after 8 years.
I guess it had panned out how I said about 2 years ago.
The console seems late in arrival.
We won’t get too much from Nintendo big AAA not until 2026.
Yes MKW looks good.
DKB, opinions are a little out on that one.
The rest are little upgrades or add ons to existing games.
The rest of the games are old games from third party studios.

I mean they have had over 8 years to get this ready and now no VRR in docked mode.
High price for what it all is really.

I almost begged for a home console version as well for say about £300 with a switch 2 pro controller. But no.

And £75 for a switch 2 pro controller that has zero functionality compared to a dualsense controller that is £70.

Nintendo as great as they can be are starting to mug us gamers off.

Re: Zelda Fans Are Concerned About The Free Switch 2 Updates, But Don't Worry

OldGamer999

Why don’t Nintendo just tell us rather than assumptions and guess work.

Good forbid Nintendo just tell us something.
Well at least we know they won’t have VRR in Docked mode, that’s one thing Nintendo did tell us, lame.

Along with the not that great launch line up from Nintendo’s own studios and more news about key cards, No VRR in docked mode and no it won’t be updated it’s impossible due to connections used.

My preorder may get surrendered any moment now.
£400 for a 3tflop console is not looking good now.

Re: Nintendo Apologises For "Error" With Mention Of Switch 2 VRR TV Support

OldGamer999

I really wish Samsung or some company in South Korea would step up into the gaming console industry, just like they did in the TV and car market and teach both Sony and Nintendo about corporate greed and pure complacency and give them stiff competition.

Sony and Nintendo have no real competition in the console market and you can see this in both their do less make more profit attitudes.
