Some positions well held by the big N.
Will be interesting to see how MKW does if the bundle deal with the console stops as per rumours.

I hope I’m wrong but I don’t have a big N in house major franchise AAA feeling that is not a switch 2 upgrade or remaster for 2026.

My hopes are pinned on LM4 as I think it will be 6 years since LM3.

I think for me it might be a disappointing switch 2 year, remembering I have the other consoles as well. So old games mean nothing to me.

Totally agree, let’s see if publishing works for them.
They will need to make amazing games to go up against the best third party games and of course Nintendo’s and Sonys best games.

Else they will just get low games sales and fail as a publisher.

That is a dodgy one for Nintendo, they live and breath exclusives on the their consoles.
That’s why I have a switch 2. For games like DKB etc. I play docked only.
If all of a sudden DKB showed up say 6 months later or even day one on my PS5 Pro I probably would just have the PS5 Pro.

I think this model only suits Xbox who are really mainly going to be a publisher now especially more in 2026.

However I would love a console that plays all games no matter who makes them.
One console to buy one eco system, one device in my set up. All games day one.

So far SWO is my port of the Switch 2.

I don’t mind paying or a bit of greed as long as I get those big N top AAA.
Which I’m hoping for some 2026, but none really announced from their own studios.

They need to follow MKW and DKB with some more.

There’s only one NEW switch 2 game worth it and of course Swtich 2 GOTY

And looking at next year’s line up from Nintendo for switch 2 only so far it could be still the best in 2026.

I’ve taken all upgrades from switch 1 to switch 2 out and all old games ports like star wars outlaws that are superior on other consoles.

Bethesda are way past thier best, Starfield saw to that.
So don’t expect anything special from them.

I really would not bother, was one of the biggest disappointments of the owning a series x.

Star Wars outlaws without any doubt.
Cyberpunk didn’t do it that much for me graphics and overall smoothness wise even at 40fps. Something not right there, compared to SWO.
SWO just does it in all areas and sometimes I have to think is this really a switch 2 and it’s the only game so far that has done that.

For me Nintendo themselves need to step up next year for switch 2 graphics wise and beat SWO.
But I don’t think they will beat SWO as they will stick to 60fps and I hope they do stick to 60fps.

I think gaming in general console wise has taken a bit of a dive.
Prices, rinse and repeat, generally folk not having as much money and keeping their old consoles for longer.

In the UK people used to keep cars about 8 years, recently that has gone up to 12 years average.

It’s not just the gaming world.

SWO is the best example of how switch 2 ports should be, anything less for me now is classed as sub par in my eyes and not a good port.

Goes to show what can be done.

Well Metroid isn’t in same league purchasing power wise as the MK and DK
Also the game hardly got the big Nintendo AAA reviews and score.
I’m enjoying it though.

This part of the industry as much as other parts is getting worse and worse.
Patches after release, yes it better have them late than never.
But come on games industry stop being such terrible providers of products and sort these issues out before releasing the games.

It’s like gaming is becoming so more money grabbing for and inferior quality of product.

The gaming industry has all 3 and it sucks.

Mmmmmm MKW beating Sonic Crossworlds.
I have both games, it is a tough one.

MKW has the nostalgia and characters and worlds a bit more for me and the karts seem more connected to the road.

However SCW is so more exciting and sort of what is coming up next and more graphical and faster. Also the DLC keeps coming with new tracks and characters, we get Pac-Man in January and new track.

I think MKW is the plodder in this case and SCW is the flash go getter which adds better mystery and fun and DLC.

I will give it to Sonic crossworlds if I had to choose, it seems newer and fresh instead of an enjoyable romp plod which MKW seems now.

I will be honest I’m not that overly impressed with the N last year of switch and now the switch 2. If it wasn’t for DKB it be very average in big N switch 2 world.

Please remember I own all consoles so third party is hard to please on my swtich 2.

Looking forward to the movie next year.

But what a stage to show the most desperately needed for me anyway a new Mario 3d platform game for switch 2 only.
9 years in October 2026 and counting.

Out of interest this 9 years the biggest gap between new Mario 3d platform game releases.
I know SMG 1 and 2 was 3 years. The golden age of game development.
SMG2 to Mario Odyssey 7 years.

It is so dam crazy.

It’s just what I would like and a preference.
Especially with wind waker after the Wii u port which was wide screen and 1080p and some quality of life improvements.

I did try it on switch 2 GameCube and even changed the controls, but it didn’t click for me.

Anyway back to MP4.

Well so far I’m 96 hours on the PlayStation that released yesterday.

PS will be third again in 2025 as they were in 2024.
They used to be first in the first two years of PS5 release but it’s all gone quiet in PS world since then.

So top will be very close between Xbox and Nintendo as was 2024.

Just a shame really.

I have the right membership to access these but I never do.
If they stopped being lazy and gave a little widescreen love and maybe 1080p to the GameCube games then I would probably play them.
I would rather have less and better quality than many lazy addictions.

Lots of businesses and big boys getting very rich out of all this.
As the manufacturing cost won’t be more expensive just the price due to demand.

Basically whoever pays the highest price gets the chips. It can almost lead to an auction type situation, which really should not be allowed, but it makes businesses and shareholders very wealthy.

I’m playing and enjoying the game switch 2.
But will be interesting to see next week.
It could drop out the top ten easily.

I think this is the first week DKB has dropped out the top ten.

They will get there just like they did when they patched SWO a few times and created an amazing game on switch 2.

Have done 2 main areas so maybe a bit early to judge.
So far being honest as I have a switch 2 and series x
It reminds of a good 8/10 Xbox studio game like Outerworlds 2 in terms of quality and overall experience.
Pretty dam good but not the old MP quality it should have been.
It’s definitely not that top AAA Nintendo I’m used to like DKB, now that’s real AAA Big N game.

After the amazing switch 2 SWO port I’m a bit surprised.
Then again SWO was patched a few times after release to get it run as amazing as it does now.

I will wait for patches and when I run out of games to play ACS.

Metroid Prime 4 maybe some Star Wars outlaws.

Actually Star Wars outlaws is a minor miracle on Switch 2, amazing port.

For me Nintendo keep things to close, they could announce if they have them, their big AAA games for next year and give us something to look forward to.

The other two big companies have and it’s not like Nintendo have much competition really.

My money is on Luigi Mansion 4 in 2026
LM3 was 7 years ago in October 2026.
Surly that is enough time.

Enjoy, what games have you gone for.

The switch 2 console itself absolutely fantastic.
Slick and faster and spot on and what I expected.
Maybe a little bit more juice in docked mode would have been nice.

As for the games, well here we go.
MKW it’s good but and 8
DKB GOTY 10
Metroid Prime 4 so far an 8

If it was not for back ward compatibility and the upgrades overall the score would be lower on the software front.

Next year concerns me more, so far tennis and a Yoshi game that I’m not even sure has any enemies to fight and looks like a plant exploration type thing.

I hope it’s not just those and we get a couple of big massive AAA from Nintendo studios, which are bigger than ever in numbers now.

DKB for me is of course the Switch 2 game of the year. Amazing game.

Prime one and of course the remaster are still easy my favourite.
Shall see tomorrow how Prime 4 does.
PS. It’s all cool, I do exploded sometimes about companies and they could do better.

It’s not the Metroid I had hoped for, I have been on the fence, then watched a live stream of gameplay whilst limiting my viewing.
Yep my brain definitely has some issue with this game, the back and forth in the open area, having to go back to Miles to upgrade things and the bad end game.
It really has been drawn out to add time to the game.
That 10 hours as a first run through is not 10 hours in good ole Metroid game play but a few hours back and forth and dessert traveling.
The game so needs some main fast travel points.
Why am I moaning, I’m just so disappointed that they made this game this way and spoilt an amazing franchise for me.

I wish some sites would stop saying 4K crispness switch 2 quality at 60fps.
Even this site ran the DF analysis.
Which states on the switch 2 quality mode 60fps.
The thin outline of the visor is the only thing that is 4K. The world is actually rendering at 1440p.
I actually think this is very miss leading by Nintendo as well.

Even Japan have issues with MP4.
It’s a low level for Nintendo.
The remaster of MP1 getting 94.
Then MP4 getting 81.
That is a not a good down hill slope, at least when I was at school anyway.
No matter how the N faithful try to fudge it.

I’m on the fence now with this, still thinking about it.
