Re: Poll: So, How Would You Rate The Nintendo Switch 2 Direct?

OldGamer999

I was dissatisfied as well but I didn’t want to be I really wanted something special.
Yes the mouse thing is weird, I guess we gonna have joycon mouse mats now 🤣 as I don’t play near a desk, silly idea.
As for the games MK World, no mention of the great online like in MK8, just roam the world and take silly photos with friends.
And DK not sure on that game, definitely not on first showing the standard I was wanting, but it may have some good surprises.
But yes underwhelming for me.

Re: Talking Point: What We Expect From The Switch 2 Direct

OldGamer999

Keeping expectations low as this is Nintendo.

Think they will say this is switch 2, this is its special little feature.
Release date and price.
Maybe a show of a couple of big AAA Nintendo games and maybe a date for them.

The rest will be the internet detectives trying to work it all out for us.

Definitely don’t expect if shown the new Mario 3d platform game as it will be nearer to Christmas 2025 release.

Day one release schedule will be full of third party old PS4 games.

I get the feeling in myself even though I have had every Nintendo day one UK and before with imports SNES & N64. But I’m so getting over Nintendo and their behaviour and need to leave now.

Re: Switch 2 Pre-Orders Expected To Sell Out "Day One" Due To Limited Unit Allocation

OldGamer999

@Medic_alert
Never forget when the PS5 preorders went live at Amazon, my son who was doing A levels at school and in class.
Took a toilet break I think at 9am when Amazon preorders went live in the UK and he got one 🤣

As for Switch 2, I shall wait and see the Nintendo big AAA games on release day before I preorder. But I think the one I’m after, new Mario 3d platform game will be October or November 2025 and will not release on Switch 2 launch day if in June or July.

As much as Mario Kart if on launch day will probably be great I will wait until the in house AAA games releases get going.
Not gonna be playing old PS4 games on a Switch 2 no point, I’ve played them.

Re: Switch 2 Pre-Orders Expected To Sell Out "Day One" Due To Limited Unit Allocation

OldGamer999

@JS_Comics
I feel the same and I’m getting old.
I was buzzing about Switch 2 day about 2023 and little in 2024 but as time as gone by the launch and console seem way overdue and technology ie PS5 and now Pro has so moved on and probably will even more in 2 years time.
Switch 2 is about 2 years overdue and it will be the be same old Nintendo, which is great in someways when they release new big AAA in house games like a new 3d Mario game, but they take so dam long and long build ups.

Then in between the big in house Nintendo AAA games it will be old PS4 ports like RDR 2 for example and remakes running at probably 60fps.

If you are a single console gamer just Nintendo then that is great but if you are a multi console owner like me and have been for years then it has a very dull effect as a console.

I was even more excited when the Wii U released, which I had day one.

Re: Poll: So, How Would You Rate The Nintendo Direct For March 2025?

OldGamer999

Totally no use to me for my gaming preferences apart from MP4 of course.

Really hope in house AAA games from Nintendo get release dates for Switch 2 and they really are big bangers and in console release day.

Else for the first time in my Nintendo History I might not order a Switch 2 for release day.
And I even had a Wii U day one.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Switch 2 To Launch In June With 3-Phase Software Plan

OldGamer999

Let’s see what happens, the more this goes on, sorry the more negative I get with switch 2.

The more I hear of Switch 2 the less impressed I am. Remembering I’m a docked gamer with Switch on a 65” TV. With a series x and a PS5 Pro.
Considering FH5 looks spectacular runs console wise on a 12tflop series x and Switch 2 at best when docked is 3tflop. I fined the switch 2 for any series x games a total waste of time.

Switch 2 hopefully will get some amazing Nintendo big AAA games on RELEASE day. But I even doubting that now. And think it will be flooded on release with old Xbox one and PS4 games. Total waste of time.

I so hope I ended up eating my words and I’m totally wrong, but Nintendo do bother me with this switch 2 console release.

Nintendo have had an age to get top quality big in house AAA games ready for day one switch 2. That’s hope it happens.

Re: Rumour: Switch 2 3D Dock Mock-Up Surfaces Online

OldGamer999

Really don’t like the grid on the bottom.
On the switch dock I stick my down with sticky pads so it doesn’t move.
If the grid doesn’t allow this and due to air flow then that’s not great for me.
Let’s hope it’s not the case. Then again console design of late doesn’t always think practically.

Re: Expect To See The Switch Logo Pop Up In Future Xbox Showcases

OldGamer999

I still don’t think they will show what consoles some of the new games are going to be on, when first revealed, because it’s not all day one, like Indy isn’t day one PS5 but Doom is.
I think they will still hold either intentionally or they may not be sure.
So take another game Fable they may well just show Xbox etc on the next trailer, but a few months after release say it’s going to PS5 and at the time of the new trailer did not know that.
Maybe it’s true or maybe a marketing strategy to keep Xbox consoles and GPU ticking over at some sort of profit.

Re: Talking Point: Where Should 'Luigi's Mansion 4' Take Place?

OldGamer999

I’m think more like Mario 64.
The professors large lab could be the hub world with secrets and little rooms of its own.

Then jumping through cosmic portals in certain rooms could take Luigi anyway and have far more variety main location wise.

I think it needs to enlarge overall and add more variety which the above would give the game.

Re: Lexar Is Apparently Releasing A Switch 2 'microSD Express' Card

OldGamer999

Would have been a lot better switch 2 reveal the other day if Nintendo would have done console specs and these potential new features etc, a proper console reveal.

Then in April focus on release date, price, preorders and options and of course the games.
Nintendo really have not been impressive with the way they did that reveal and switch 2.

Re: Analyst States That Switch 2's Price Won't "Really Matter" For Early Adopters

OldGamer999

I tough one this one really in the UK
PS5 discless £380 often has sale at £330
Series S discless £250 to £300

Maybe not a fair comparison as they cannot take physical media, though you can add the disc drive later on the PS5.

But the all powerful PS5 discless at £380 is really at the point where the Switch 2 cannot go over.
Though the switch is handheld as well, tough one this price point.

Re: Talking Point: Did All The Switch 2 Leaks 'Damage' Nintendo Or The Console's Reveal?

OldGamer999

No it’s what I expected anyway.
And let’s be honest I think it was the worst console reveal I can remember.
Just to be told to tune in April 🤣

The games make a console and I bet we don’t get a new 3d Mario platform game on release as I predict on here about two weeks ago.

Thing with Nintendo they are so predicted able nowadays as they are so business common sense run, which I guess they have to be to make money. But it does make them a bit boring nowadays.

Re: Reaction: Nintendo Pins Hopes On Familiar Fun With Switch 2

OldGamer999

I think they had no choice after the super successful Switch. The only main stream hybrid console.
It would have taken a brave person in the board to have moved away from the Switch formula.

I don’t think there will be much else to the switch 2, more powerful the joy con mouse gimmick and that’s it. But I didn’t expect any more than that.

The switch will take some beating sales wise and it’s hard to predict especially if Xbox pull out of the console market and put say Halo etc on switch 2. It could sell even more.

Re: Feature: Everything You Missed In The Switch 2 Mario Kart Reveal - Characters, Features, Easter Eggs

OldGamer999

It will probably have few graphical upgrades and maybe 1440p or 1800p or some sort of upscaling.
The extra power will probably go into the game mechanics and having 24 racers instead of 12 and wider tracks and further draw distance.
That suits me.

One thing though they definitely have to have online racing like it is now with the points system giving us something to aim for.
Will be interesting if that stays at 12 or increases to 24 on line.
MK long game is online racing once the single player is done, so it needs to be there.
