I was unsure I doubted Nintendo, considered holding off on switch 2 until later. I didn’t, got one day one and now with MKW being better than I thought. And now with this DKB direct I can’t wait, will easy be my GOTY unless Nintendo come up with something else.
It’s great to have both but this not seen as competition chat from Sony is rubbish.
They both sell game consoles and vast amounts of software and subscriptions etc etc. it’s not like one is selling cars 🚗
If Nintendo didn’t exist as of tomorrow Sony would pick up extra sales of all the above. It’s competition and I’m glad it is here. Sony so full of bull lately.
@Ellie-Moo I’m not totally sure but with 120hz to run cyber punk at 40fps I think you need HDMI 2:1. But I maybe wrong. I just use 2:1 as it is the best port to use with higher gigabyte bandwidth and I have peace of mind.
Sony A95L 65” QD-OLED no HGIG Set HDR as per switch 2 Looks perfect. Then again it’s the best TV out there or maybe some Japanese perfect hand shaking.
DKA really needs to hit the AAA Nintendo in house studios hit spot like Mario odyssey and TOTK etc. meta 90 plus. MKW is at 87.
Reason Nintendo for me with in house studios have that quality high scoring perfect game reputation. And if another big AAA dips below the 90s that will 2 in the row. It doesn’t take much to reduce your reputation now a days. I see Nintendo in house as very special, let’s hope they stay that way and don’t start becoming a very good average.
@Ulysses Even the on the PS5 and series x you get it in very heavy graphical games like assassin’s creed shadows etc. reason normally high graphical foliage, a starting low resolution for the upscaler to upscale from. DLSS on the switch 2 and PC is at the moment the best upscaler, then probably PSSR for ps5 pro then FSR3 in AMD chips on ps5 and series x. Though programming counts for a lot.
Also 60fps helps massively.
So far the best example I’ve seen with a game was assassins creeds shadows due to the heavy foliage graphics. Then an update for the PS5 Pro came along using PSSR and it got rid of all the pixel crawl. Such amazing picture quality now on the Pro with the update.
A lot of switch 2 games don’t get it much as Nintendo stay with the bounds of the console power and programme clever and now with 60fps it shouldn’t be to bad.
Totally brilliant I play docked and it looks really good on my QD-OLED 65” then through my sound system. A lot better rear sound quality and usage than the switch. I have not experienced any screen tearing in cyberpunk, MKW, TOTK or splatoon 3 even without VRR which is good.
A lot better frame rates and picture quality.
Overall system is faster and more slick.
Having said all that, this could have been in 2022 and Nintendo are still behind really, but I’m really enjoying and finally after 8 long years a Nintendo console that is more modern.
The main thing now is more console stock into the retailers. I have managed to get one really easy for preorder and I know a few that got on launch day.
But the UK seems totally out of stock now, I haven’t seen a restock yet but Smyths Toys are saying around the 20th of June.
@Ramouz Soz, so did you get the switch 2? I totally have no regrets, great little console and that Nintendo AAA pure gameplay and polish. Got the switch 2 pro controller as well, very good.
@Ramouz Switch 2 is really good for me right now and enjoying has I haven’t played Nintendo for a bout a year and it’s been nice to get back to that Nintendo AAA pure gameplay magic.
I’m a big MK8 deluxe fan especially racing on line for points.
For me MKW beats that, we now have 24 racers online and as well as racing standard with have the knockout tournament. Both where you can gain or lose points. Single player is fun as always, tracks are wider and new weapons and rail grinding etc.
MKW will grow and develop also over time with new open world areas and tracks and cups to race. 10/10 for me.
Sonys best era for me was PS4 by a long mile. After the first 2 years of the PS5 they have limped along in comparison to the PS4 days for me. Obviously corporate decisions etc caused this.
However I think it is far more important for Nintendo with switch 2 to really focus and leverage their in house studio AAA games. I think this generation they will need them more than ever if they wish to keep pace with the original switch sales and amazing success.
@DaniPooo Will be great to see what Nintendo studios produce and release in about 2 years time They normally are the best at getting the most power out of their consoles.
@hashkey I do think cyberpunk on switch is a little miracle for sure and I’m sort of impressed really.
As for PS5 to PS5 pro it’s more smaller things, like assassin creed shadows, the pro patch that uses PSSR creates an extremely clear picture when panning around with no pixel crawl and meshing in the foliage compared to PS5 and series x which is a nice to have, also the ray tracing is improved in 60fps mode. Not a game changer but when you play on a 65” QD-OLED TV you see the difference and appreciate the improvements.
Switch 2 runs very well and perfect on my TV docked with HDR, 120hz and ALLM always on. Even VRR is on for some reason, even though it’s not meant to be there on switch 2 docked. Splatoon 3 looks sublime.
@hashkey I know it’s a handheld hybrid but I want more power just a personal thing. When you have a PS5 pro as well, my brain sometimes thinks imagine those amazing big AAA Nintendo games running with that power and graphical fidelity etc.
I’m fine with switch 2 and very happy with the new power and improvements but it also makes me release it’s a generation behind the pure home consoles. So in about 2028 it will be two generations behind.
Being honest switch 2 could have been out in about late 2022 as a switch pro, doing all the things the switch 2 does today.
Like I said I’m very happy and really enjoying but even a little more power say 4 to 5 tflops docked would have given us cyberpunk at 60fps, 40fps runs well on my docked set up but 60fps would have the icing on the cake.
TOTK so much better running at 60fps, so much smoother and clear when panning around and general game movement. The sharper image is also a pleasure to the eyes. And the load times make the camera a little more immersive, rather than that longer wait when fast traveling etc.
It’s been a long time coming getting Nintendo into the better technology and these improvements, but I guess at least it’s finally here now. I’m hoping they only leave it about five years this time until switch 3.
@Yoshi3 Long term they are really going to need to lean into their big AAA own studio games more than ever to get close to the Switch with switch 2.
It’s an amazing start but this journey will be a lot harder for switch 2 and Nintendos PR and games and amount of them from their studios will be need more than ever.
Really hoping this is a big AAA splatoon single player campaign game around 15 hours long with lots of exploring, thought and game play mechanics put into it. Fingers crossed 🤞
With the switch 2 and because of the console price point etc. They are really gonna to have to learn into their big in house AAA games and keep them coming at the usual top quality Nintendo do.
This is more relevant than ever with Xbox having so many studios and then along with the very new big AAA third party games will get nowhere the performance on the switch 2 if the games turn up even.
PS5 will also next year starting kicking into gear with their own big AAA release and with Xbox putting their big ip AAA on Sonys machine, it’s the machine to have PS5 or PS5 pro.
Then there is other handhelds to chose from compared to when the switch launched.
I know a lot of switch owners put off by the switch 2 price and after DKB the lack of new Nintendo in house new big AAA games coming late 2025 and into 2026.
Nintendo will have their work cut out with the switch 2 and really need to bring those in house big AAA games if they want very good success.
I have a switch 2 and pro controller and loving it, but that’s just me.

Job well done Nintendo.
Re: Donkey Kong Bananza Direct: Every Announcement - How Would You Rate It?
I think they need to get more switch 2 in stock in UK. There are people wanting them now, let alone when DKB releases.

So glad I have a switch 2.
I was reserved about DKB, but for me a massive 3d Nintendo platform fan.
Easy 10/10 after this direct.
Can’t wait for July.

@Ellie-Moo
Well I have it plugged in HDMI 4 as it is hdmi 2:1.
I have my TV HDR setting to how I like firstly.
Have HDR set to automatic on switch 2 and TV.
ALLM and 120hz turned on switch 2.
Then just did the set up HDR on switch 2 like the instructions.
All seems fine and OK.

All you with screen protectors.
Any particular make or brand to buy for the best one to use?
Re: Poll: Has Your Switch 2's Screen Got Any Nasty Scratches Yet?
Mines very happy being docked only, so still perfect screen wise.

Re: UK Charts: Yes, Two Mario Kart Games Are In The Top Ten
I can see original switch still selling for a long while.
Especially at Christmas if they do the switch MK8 bundle at £250.
For some family’s that is a lot different to switch 2 at £400 then £75 for MKW.

My TV has VRR on, which only comes on normally when I get the VRR signal so what’s going on there is anyone’s guess.
Of course running in ALLM, 120hz and HDR all on.

Re: Video: Here's How Splatoon 3 On Switch 2 Improves Visuals And Performance
So nice to play Nintendo studio AAA games with a lot clearer image and 60fps.
Then added HDR.
Splatoon 3 which I’ve just played feels more 2025 rather than stuck back a good few years ago.
Being honest though, could have been years ago say 2022 with switch one pro.

Re: Digital Foundry Delivers Its Mario Kart World Tech Review - "Nintendo's Artistry Stands Out The Most Here"
@Suketoudara
The thing with TVs they are all slightly different
As for the colours and hdr points, maybe adjust some tv settings.
I have the switch set to 120hz ALLM on and HDR on.
One question your TV definitely can do 120hz and also in the TV port you are using and the HDMI lead?
I only have two 2:1 ports as I have a Sony A95L 65” QD-OLED so have to pick the right port.
Re: Review: The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - The Best Way To Play, But 'Zelda Notes' Sucks
The better resolution is good but the 60fps is the icing on the cake so smooth and not much blur now when panning around.
It is a nice upgrade.
I hope all Nintendo in house games will have 60fps on Swtich 2.
Re: Review: The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - The Best Way To Play, But 'Zelda Notes' Sucks
@Jeronan
Yeah I did think that’s was really bad of Nintendo not letting the original switch pro controller wake up the switch 2.
Some of their greed lately you could really scream and shout at them, not that we get the chance.
I was daft enough to get the new switch 2 pro controller, but it is very good in hand and really nice to have.
