Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (November 11th)

@GregamanX That happened to me a few months back. I've only started reading maga about a year ago and it has eaten into my gaming time for definite. Gotta love Berserk, Chainsaw man and Demon slayer for me, thinking of biting the bullet and starting Vanland Saga as well as the show was excellent.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (November 11th)

My plan of action is Fire Emblem Engage which I've finally gotten to after buying it at launch.
After that I shall return to Mario Wonder. I wasn't fussed on the opening act but I'll keep, games are too expensive to just give up on after a mere two-three hours.
After that I shall return to Armoured Core VI.
And then finally Pikmin 4 which I played the demo off but haven't started the actual game.
Other than that I got Splatfests, 13 Sentinels, TOTK (which I'm taking a quick break from), Phantom Hourglass, Wind Waker (game cube), and Luigi's Mansion 1 on hold, and Xeno 3 DLC to get.
I really need to do something about this backlog 😅

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's Still Making Them, So What amiibo Do You Still Want To See?

Nf157

Eunie would be sweet! That's my most wanted, I'd probably go as far as to buy a xeno 3 pack for it.
More mgs ones would be great, Raiden, Big Boss, Cyborg ninja, psycho mantis, the metal gears themselves etc.
Female Byleth and Robin from fire emblem would be sweet, as would a restock for Joker and Cloud Strife.
Astral Chain would make some sweet amiibo! As would Rayman!
I other words, there's a tone I'd still like them to make!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (October 28th)

Nf157

I finally got the final ending for Nier replicant. That and Humanity was well worth a month of ps+, not something I buy very often.
Now that that's done, I'll messed about a bit in Elden Ring and maybe street fighter VI to further milk the last few days of + I have left.
I got Mario Wonder and Pikmin 4 via online vouchers to fall back on when I'm bored, but this weekend it's all about Splatoween with my new in game pirate hat! #TeamZombie!

Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting Super Mario Bros. Wonder?

Nf157

I wasn't going to buy it but I had two Nintendo online vouchers that where close to expiring so I nabbed it and Pikmin 4.
It does look good, little worried it'll be too easy though, I like my 2d platformers without mercy for me!
I probably won't play them until next month however as I bought a month of ps plus extra and I'm gonna milk it for all it's worth.

Re: Soapbox: Pokémon X & Y - The Series' Greatest Paradoxes

Nf157

Despite their many flaws I look back fondly on that gen.
I had fallen off Pokémon after I was done with the OG Diamond and Pearl and didn't get back into it until I bought a 3ds towards the end of its lifecycle. The whole Pokemon GO phase got me remembering the 'Good old days'.
I really dug the french inspired region, wish they did more with it but I still rate it. Megas where of course something really fresh.
The gang of rivals had potential, probably the biggest miss for me personally, that and a lack of things to do post credits.

Re: Talking Point: Would You Buy A Digital-Only 'Switch 2'?

Nf157

I did go all digital for a while but the price of games in recent years have gotten me back into buying physical copies. Not only can you find them much, much cheaper even at launch, but you can trade them in afterwards/lend them to friends.
Buying a disc version of the ps5 has saved me a lot more money than if I had just bought the digital version.

Re: Soapbox: What Do You Do When Nintendo Ticks Off Your ENTIRE Most-Wanted List?

Nf157

I'm quite open minded about what games get released these days but that's a bit of a boring answer so here we go!
From the beggining of this systems life I asked for Persona, Arkham, Metal Gear and Fallout ports. 3 out of 4 are done (or about to be) so I guess I'll ask for a Fallout 3/New Vegas/4 port.
Pyre is another game I've expected but been shocked it hasn't happened. All of their other games have hit the switch and I wouldn't mind replaying this one provided it runs well this time.
Re-releasing the Gen 3 Pokémon games (Firered/Leafgreen and Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald) as well as conquest, a game that sounds cool but I just can't get my hands on it.
A Splatoon soon off maybe? Surprised they haven't attempted this yet- something like what Luigi's Mansion is too Mario. I think Splatoon is begging for it personally.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (September 16th)

Nf157

I'm going though my usual post splattfest gaming slump where I played too much video games last weekend so now I don't feel like playing anything!
I had Starfield and Sea of Stars on half but I think I've lost motivation with them.
TOTK is still on going, in no rush to finish it.
I also finally got Phantom Hourglass for the DS, I've been hunting that game down for months and I finally got a copy (for free of a friend too which is great!). I will definitely be giving that a whirl once I've gotten over my burnout, same with F-Zero 99, looks very fun.

Re: Talking Point: What Do You Want From A 'Splatoon 4'?

Nf157

A Destiny 2 Gambit style mode would be awesome, or just a brand new mode all together would be ideal.
Smaller hub area.
Return to two hosts. (Not fussed on the idea of 4 way Splatfest, at least keep it at 3)
Wouldn't mind vehicles but I don't mind if they keep the core gameplay mostly the same, so long as there's new guns, maps and specials
My brother came up with a good idea that sounds fun, a light punishment for losing Splatfests- where the losers would have to wear a shirt or something with the winners pick (e.g. #TeamShiver) on it for a week.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (September 9th)

Nf157

I bought Game Pass for a £1 last month purely for the crunchy roll perk (75 days, pretty good deal!) But I forgot to cancel so now I've accidentally bought another month of GP.
So if I'm paying for a month- then in gonna milk it dry!
Started with Sea of Stars. Ten hours in it's pretty good but it's starting to get a little samey. They did open the world up a lot recently which helps.
StarField. I'm not feeling it so far. I like some of its RPG perks (I'm a chief whose addicted to jumping, my brother's a wanted man with number one fan who stalks him, it actually feels like a RPG unlike 99% of most games that say they are) but the space travel is pretty underwhelming, especially in a post No Man's Sky/Outer Wilds world. But then I'm only about 3 hours in so maybe it'll start clicking with me soon.
Hi Fi Rush I played for about an hour but I think I'll give up on that.
I shall be jumping into the Splatfest. I could hardly abandon Shiver after all those Splatfest she's won me.
Zelda is on break for GP, though I'm already missing it.
Armoured Core VI I've surprisingly not played a lot of. I enjoyed what I played but I don't think I've touched it in about 6 days or more. Kinda wish it was on Switch, the small missions would lend itself to that I think.

Re: Talking Point: Which Nintendo IP Should 'Switch 2' Launch With?

Nf157

I think making Metroid the poster child of the switch 2 launch would be a mistake, it's not a big enough brand to pull of something like that.
A new 3D Mario/Mario Kart would be the obvious choices, especially after the movie.
I imagine the launch year would have something Zelda related but I think it won't be Wind Waker. Instead I think it'll be a Links awakening style remake of either a Link to the Past or A Link between worlds- though I'd be much more excited for a new 2D entry.
Personally I'd love to see a Pokémon Legends 2 but I'm doubtful to say the least.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (July 29th)

Nf157

I've picked up my first Atelier game recently (Ryza 1). I didn't really know anything about them but I thought I'd give it a go on a whim.
I was under the impression the game would be overly simple which in some ways it is- but the alchemy side of things appears a lot more in depth that I predicted which is cool. The characters are slowly growing on me and it's actually nice to play a game where the premise is just very ordinary (or low stakes maybe?)
We'll see how it goes but so far I find it quite relaxing- perfect for this week as works been a pain in the back (literally 😭).
My playthrough of TOTK continues. Still haven't done a story mission 😅 but I'm enjoying it. Not rush to finish this one.
The new Gameboy Zelda's looked intriguing. Might give those a go but after Tears is done.

Re: Random: Fans Share Their Most Memorable Failed Experiments From Zelda: TOTK

Nf157

During one of the shrines early one where I was still learning how all these new mechanics worked- I simple needed to place a fan on a square stone and activate it to cross the lava...
I overcomplicated it majorly 😅
I made a ship that went very- very slow and was front heavy....
At around the half way mark it began to sink and I had to climb to the top of it and pray it would remain afloat until I reached the other side. I could practically hear the Pirates of the Carribbean music playing!
I was nearing the other side but the lava had almost reached my feet.
I had one shot to jump- I should be able to make it!
I didn't 😂

Re: Top 100 Best Nintendo Games Of All Time

Nf157

Interesting list. And seems as others gave their top 10's I guess that gives me an excuse to give mine 👍
10. Xenoblade Chronicles 3D
9. Super Mario World
8. Fire Emblem Awakening
7. Super Smash Bros Ultimate
6. Mario Kart Double Dash
5. Xenoblade Chronicles 3
4. Splatoon 2
3. Ruby/Sapphire
2. BOTW
1. Fire Red/Lead Green

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (July 15th)

Nf157

SPLATFEST time (#TeamVanilla!)
I've also put a smidge of of time into Zelda as always and hopefully a bit more over the weekend. Maybe some more Mario Kart if the new maps actually show up online 😅
And with that I'm all set 👍 Might go buy one of those Atelier games on sale. They keep popping up and they've got my curiosity so if there's one cheap enough I might go for that too.

Re: Talking Point: What Makes A Good Sidequest, Anyway?

Nf157

I think what makes a side quest good is determined by how well it adds to the game's artistic goal.
For example if a game is all about exploration, then if the sidequests get me to explore then they're a success. Likewise if a game is very script based and a sidequest offers more story that the main quest couldn't then thumbs up.
I'd even argue fetch quests have their place (often misused though), if you think about grind heavy loot based games or a combat focused game, they offer an easy, quick quest that'll give you more of what you want (exp, loot, an excuse to try out a new combo etc.)
My favourite side quests (that I can think about on the top of my head) would include Mordins loyalty quest in ME2, Tarrey Town in BOTW, and pretty much most quests from Fallout 3/New Vegas

Re: Poll: What's Your Game Of The Year Of 2023 So Far?

Nf157

My answer is a boring one: Tears of the Kingdom 😅
But I have played other games too! Sort of.
I hadn't played resi4 before (an embarrassing black spot in my gaming life) so playing through the remake was a treat. It was so good I'll probably have another run with it at a later date.
Street Fighter VI is great though I haven't had time to play any of its single player content, just been playing it online whenever my brother is around. Very good, haven't played a 2D fighter in a few years so I was looking forward to it.
I've also bought Engage and Prime remaster. The former I STILL haven't gotten around to but I have every intention off and unfortunately I couldn't get into the latter despite loving the 2-d entries. I do think I'll give it another shot one day though.
Still got to get the Xeno 3 DLC, Raincode and FFXVI but I think Zelda is a lock in for my GOTY.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (July 1st)

Nf157

I'm not even really out of the central area in Tears of the Kingdom yet so I'll continue chipping through that. What a friggen game!
My weekend session of Fitness Boxing/Ringfit is already done (until tomorrow anyways)
I'll probably get a game or two of Mario Kart 8/Street Fighter VI if some friends or my brother's up for it.
I've also got a new tablet, the Samsung ultra, huge screen on it. I'm not one for gaming on tablets and phones but I wanna see what this bad boy can do so I'm gonna download a few and give them a whirl too.
There's also the Pikmin 4 demo but I don't know... I was excited for it after playing 3 deluxe but what I loved about that game sounds like it's been downplayed in this one a bit, kind of more interested in trying out the older two at the moment.
And finally I'm considering getting Rain Code and Fight forever, both look cool but the reviews appear mixed so I'm not sure. Maybe I'll just wait for a sale or something.

Re: Rumour: Metal Gear Solid 4, 5, and Peace Walker May Be Included In Vol. 2 Collection

Nf157

It would have been cool if they had vol 1 be the Solid Snake arc (Metal gear 1+2, MGS 1, 2 and 4) and have Vol 2 be the Big Boss arc (Mgs 3, Portable, Peace Walker, Ground Zero and 5)
And then a vol 3 containing everything else (revengeance, Acid 1+2 etc, maybe Twin Snake and perhaps for a good laugh Survive 🤣)
I don't know if I'd call this a complaint per say but just something I was thinking.
