(In the capcom main menu voice) Resident Evil ... 4! I haven't actually played the original version so this'll be a first for me. Played about an hour this morning (I don't usually game in the early hours but I had a crap nights sleep and was up at 3:45! ðŸ˜) so far it's great. It's nice to finally play one of these big budget remasters for a game I haven't played before so I can enjoy it for what it is rather than comparing it to the old version. Outside of that I've finished Metroid Fusion, great game. Surprised people complained about the difficulty in Dreads bosses because I though the later ones in Fusion where much harder! Also about 60-70% of the way through Minish Cap. Its not bad but nowhere near my favourite Zelda game. Good enough to finish I reckon. Unlike Kirby and the Forgotten Lands, everything I've played that I feel less inclined to return. I think I'm close to the point of giving up but I'll have one more shot before calling it a day.
Finally finished Xenoblade Chronicles 3! Been playing it since day one and now It's my second most played switch game behind BOTW and I reckon when I return to it to clear up the remaining side stuff plus the expansion it'll be no.1. great game! Kinda wanna play 2 now.... So I've played all three 😅 I've also gotten into Fitness Boxing which has helped me regain some motivation for exercising. Going back and forth between that and Ringfit helps a lot. I finally tried out Kirby and the Forgotten Lands but after a great first hour or two- the repetition is really starting to sink in. Every time I play it I feel less inclined to return to it. But we'll see, maybe it gets better later. Metroid fusion though is awesome thus far! Despite the lack of exploration it might become my favourite Metroid game!
Pokemon coliseum. It was a really fresh take on the franchise- a darker and more challenging one at that. The opening cinematic with modern visuals would be a sight to behold! And a larger roster and possible expanded story wouldn’t go unwanted. Obviously the other Metroid games would be good contenders, and I’d be all for a resi1 remake considering the original remake is quite aged as it is.
Chapter 7 of Xeno 3 still, but I can't feel the end is nigh! As much as I enjoyed it and wish I'd have done all the side stuff during this playthrough, I'm looking forward to finally starting some other games I've been looking forward too like Kirby and Engage. I've also played the resi4 demo. I somehow haven't played the original (I know... A sin!) So it'll be nice finally going into one of these remakes and not complaining that it doesn't look like the original like Demons Souls or Shadow of The Colossus!
Tried the demo a week ago. My right shoulder still hurts 😅 It was a nice change from ringfit however, but I don't know- after I learnt the punches and how to position myself it feels like the game itself is no longer needed, maybe if I dig a little deeper into it I'd change my mind but as it stands Ringfit feels way more needed as a game for exercise than this.
@Zuljaras I know the feeling. In many cases its like it just opens up and the true 'gaming experience' begins. I can't remember the last time I did what I was suppose to in Skyrim 😅 And with the From Soft games I just end up feeling more confident on the second playthrough, I'll mess about more and see how much faster/better I've become at playing them.
@Duncanballs I've played through the 3ds version of 1 and it's an excellent game too. Not sure which of the two Xenos I've played are better, I think I'd give 3 for gameplay but 1 for story maybe. Haven't started 2 yet though, I think I'll need a break from the series as I've been playing then more or less back to back since June of last year 😅 Also good luck on your goal to 'clear the decks' for Zelda. We got this! Two months to go!
Final chapter of Xenoblade 3! I was going to go for a 100% run but at 125 hours so far I think I've come to the conclusion that if I want to play the games in my backlog like Kirby, Engage and Minish Cap before Zelda I just gotta finish it and leave some of the remaining side stuff behind. Perhaps I'll go back to them when the DLC drops. I've hurt my shoulder so no Ringfit or fitness boxing for me this weekend. Guess I'll do some walks instead for exercise. There's the Big Run event in Splatoon but my usual go to buddy for these events isn't free this weekend for it so I guess I'll just dabble in it this time.
It's great that the top 10 switch games sees some major additions and subtractions as the years go by. Sign of a relevant console/game releases. My current top 10 (because I ain't doing 50!) (Also not counting games I played elsewhere) Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Breath of the Wild Super Smash Bros Ultimate Neon White Fire Emblem Three Houses Legends Arceus Neon White Luigi's Mansion 3 Metroid Dread Splatoon 2 HM - Astral Chain, Skyward Sword HD, Rayman Legends, Ringfit Adventure, Age of Calamity, Splatoon 3, Tropical Freeze, Pikmin 3, Super Meat Boy
Kinda bored with Ringfit so I'm looking for an alternative. I was looking at that fitness boxing game, the one that crossed over with that show I can't remember the name off. I tried the demo and that was fun but the motion controls didn't always hit. Then again the same goes for Ringfit.
Shadows of Mordor. I was playing the game and thought that this game was really- really hard! And I couldn't work out how to do so many of the skills seen in the trailers and such. I finally beat it and began messing around with the open world only to realise.... I had forgotten all about the skill trees! I hadn't put any points into anything outside of the tutorial part! I unlocked everything and then the game was too easy 😅 Another one was recently with Xenoblade 3. I was stuck in the city at a certain part of the story and I couldn't get back out. Had to Google it. I found out then you could fast travel to different regions on the main menu.... About 90 hours of play time I had been travelling to the ends of every map to travel to the next region when I could have just fast travelled directly there. 90 hours .....
Humanity demo on Ps5 (which I enjoyed) and maybe some Minish cap on Switch. Not too much as I haven't been in a gaming mood these past few weeks which I think boils down to having a good few shows to watch and also getting into manga at age 27. That's ontop of just being more busy than usual. Also it feels like gaming wise what I really wanna play is Zelda, Silksong, Armoured Core and Tekken 8. Everything else is just feeling like filler currently.
Very, very excited for this. But I have zero issue with waiting. If it takes another year- it takes another year. It's not like I don't have enough games to play at the moment 😅 Still catching up on last year's games.
Like I imagine plenty of Pikmin fans did I jump one the bandwagon with 3 deluxe and loved it- especially the challenge maps. Hopefully 4 has plenty of those! Got a online voucher ready for this one!
Nier Automata Ending E! I have never experienced an ending quite like that one. More than worth the sort of three play through to get it! Mario Odysseys ending was pretty damn epic and I wouldn’t even consider myself a huge 3d Mario fan. Just pure spectacle and enjoyment. The ending level to the Octo expansion for Splatoon 2 was probably the only single player content in the Splatoon series I actually loved. The twist with how Little Nightmares II ends I thought was chilling. Really helped make that game my GOTY for that year. What Remains of Edith Finch had a real gut puncher- and Citizen Sleepers was quite memorable too.
All I want from Zelda is confirmation of its release date (though too be honest I wouldn't be too mad if it gets delayed- my backlogs big enough). I really don't want to see anymore of it. I'm already sold so anymore would just be spoilers. Pikmin 4 is an interesting one. Though I believe they described this direct as 'early 2023 games' so I think Pikmin will be shown later in the year. Updates for Splatoon 3 would be rad. Third wave of Xenoblade DLC and perhaps a more solid release window for the big expansion maybe. Silksong would be very welcome. Outside of those I'm hoping for nothing. As I said I've got enough to game with, and whilst I'm all for the switch lasting a year or two more- a lot of their Devs are likely focused on the next console now and in the long run that's probably for the better.
My results tell me I need to go back to BOTW for a refresher 😅 (7/16) Can't believe I got question no. 7 right though! Obviously all skill and not luck!
Metal gear rising 2 from platinum games would be one of the few new Metal Gears I'd actually be excited for. I'd settle for a very well done remaster if priced correctly.
I think outside of a Tears of the Kingdom and one more Mario Movie focused direct we won't get a proper one until September! (I can hear the boos!) That direct will include Pikmin 4 which will be overly simplified and turn off a lot of fans, Xenoblade 3 dlc which in true Monolift fashion will be massive and bigger than many other full release games, Star Fox 64 remake (with no release date) and no mention of Metroid Prime 4. God I'm negative today!
I look back on the first two very fondly. They are some of the few spin offs I considered on par with the main series for a time. But if they where to bring it back I'd want a bit of a revamp. Maybe even bring in a new dev (stuff like customizable bases would be cool. And more modern dungeons). But the main spin off I'd like to return would of course be Pokken Tournament. A fighting game I actually felt competent at.
I haven't got around to the game yet but the divine edition is something of a looker! It keeps staring at me from my book shelf but I must remain focused and finish Xenoblade 3 first!
When you take into account how old and cheap these games are I’d go the full 10/10 for both! 3 portable is a bit rough but it’s more than playable.
I don’t think the system needs throwing away just rebalancing. Perhaps have then last a bit longer with the option to repair them. I actually wouldn’t mind them getting rid of rechargeable weapons like the master sword however. It became a bit of a crutch for me once I got it, took the whole ‘scrap together what you can and fight back’ feeling away considerably. But I’m open minded with whatever Nintendo choose to do, like I am with the game as a whole.
Still on chapter five with Xenoblade 3. Chapter five may be my favourite part of the game thus far (minus the controls for certain transportation) which is impressive 95 hours in. I've got the Divine Edition of Engage ready, didn't expect the box to be A4 big 😅 But I'll be sidelining this just for a bit whilst my Xenoblade playthrough slowly concludes. I will likely pick up the Persona 3/4 pack at some point but I think I've got enough too play without two more 100+ hour games to play 😅 And my Ringfit is starting to pick up steam again after a very lazy and un-motivated Xmas period .....
Majora’s Mask. I loved so much about that game…. But it was so damn tedious. Around 16 hours in I had to face facts, I couldn’t continue. I’ve tried numerous times over the years. It frustrates me to this day because as I said there was plenty of things I loved in it…. I keep telling myself I’ll go back one day again though, will I ever learn? The biggest recent frustration though is Scarlett and Violet. How much useless talking does one game need? And why can’t I skip? And why are all the activities so repetitive? I finally managed to beat the three paths, only a bit further to go but I’ve brunt out. I’ll get back to it one day maybe.
I’m guessing I’m in the minority who want Nintendo to just go very Nintendo with their next console. Screw being safe! On the PlayStation and Xbox side of things all their consoles have just blurred together, I want the consoles I get to feel distinctive and memorable, not just what I had before but a bit clearer. This is coming from someone who considers the switch to be his second favourite console of all time.
Played this on game pass. I saw the credits but I didn't 100% it due to legends Arceus and Elden Ring releasing. Really good game, too be expected from the guacamelee team of course. I might pick this up and just backlog it. I could see myself going through this game again someday.
I have the divine edition pre ordered but it isn't arriving until Saturday 😞 I think I will miss the relationship building of previous games and I think I'll likely prefer three houses and awakening to it in tone but I reckon I'll still enjoy this a lot.
Got to chapter 5 in Xenoblade 3 after nearly 90 hours in. Just unlocked a very cool explorable area. Can't believe how big this game is .... Other than that not much. Definitely feels like a quiet time gaming wise for me.
I’m guessing they’ll announce their next console in early 2024 and release it later that same year which I think would be the perfect timing. I feel like the switch has a lot of life in it yet, especially when you look at its lineup, and I’d rather wait for a more meaningful upgrade than just a resolution/frame rate boost. Hell if they want to wait until 2025 go for it as far as I’m concerned.
@cammers1995 I've wanted a fallout 3/New Vegas collection for switch since the beginning or hell even fallout 4. But at this point I'm guessing it ain't happening.
@johnedwin switch 2 will likely be out by the time persona 6 launches but this is atlus. Persona 5 was meant to be a PS3 exclusive in 2017.... The PS4 came out in 2013. They've done similar things with other games too. Too me that's not such a bad thing as their games are hardly tech pushers.
My 2023 predictions for Nintendo; -TOTK to have one final delay to September where it will release alongside it's OLED special edition. I believe it's reception will be similar to Majora's Mask or Fallout New Vegas, the general opinion at launch will be that it wasn't as good as the last one but after a few years opinions will flip and will be loved more than BOTW. -I also believe there will be amiibo based on Links new Arm which shall be mine! -Silksong will also miss it's 12 months after Xbox conference mark and release November. -Pikmin 4 will be a early 2024 game (I know.... I foresee a lot of delays!) But I also feel like this game will drastically simplify the game, leaving long time fans conflicted! -Pokemon S/V will get two expansions. Neither of which will bad but neither brilliant. -Xenoblades Story expansion will launch and I will complain I don't have enough time for all this and that I haven't finished the base game yet but I'll get it anyways. -Persona 6 will finally be announced (Not launch) for multiple platforms including Switch! -Nier Replicant port will be announced. -The first big direct will be in April!
@Aurumonado I know the feeling! I just hit chapter five in xenoblade Chronicles 3 after 75 hours.... I'm really doubtful I'll beat it in two weeks. On top of that I have Kirby and Three Hopes I haven't even started yet.
I've got the divine edition pre ordered ready! (Which is a rare thing for me to do). I wasn't sold on this one staright away but the more I've seen the more I think it'll be great.
I'll have to keep my eyes glued to this. Really want some of those amiibos but their current prices I can't justify. The Wolf Link Amiibo will be mine! And maybe a few others too!
Nintendo's 2022 was great. Outside of Eldon ring and Ragnarok all of my gaming was on switch. So many games came out for it there are still a few I haven't even started like Kirby and Three Hopes. I'll get to them when I finish Violet and Xeno 3.
I like the longer console life. I bought the Xbox one X when it came out and thought it was awesome. After 3 years a new one came out. Thanks to that short life cycle it just felt like the console came and went. There wasn't as much attachment to it so I'm glad the switch is going for 7-8 years. Not only that but when they do finally do have an upgrade it will feel more impactful. Or at least that's how I see it. If Nintendo can keep the 1st and 3rd party support I'm all for the switch lasting another few years.
Happy new year! From the Nintendo side of things gaming is looking very promising! Too promising really. Fire Emblem plus Personas in January (wait! It’s January already?), Zelda in May! HollowKnight is hopefully inbound, Pikmin 4 will hopefully stick its landing. A bunch of awesome looking indies. Would say I’m looking forward to it but my backlogs getting out of hand!

Xenoblade Chronicles 3
Breath of the Wild
Super Smash Bros Ultimate
Neon White
Fire Emblem Three Houses
Legends Arceus
Neon White
Luigi's Mansion 3
Metroid Dread
Splatoon 2
HM - Astral Chain, Skyward Sword HD, Rayman Legends, Ringfit Adventure, Age of Calamity, Splatoon 3, Tropical Freeze, Pikmin 3, Super Meat Boy

Re: Pokémon Scarlet & Violet's DLC Will Have "Over 230 Familiar Pokémon"
I know they won't but I'd would have loved it if they pulled another back and white, as in every Pokémon in the game is new. There's only so many times you can see the same ones before they get a bit played out.

I think I will miss the relationship building of previous games and I think I'll likely prefer three houses and awakening to it in tone but I reckon I'll still enjoy this a lot.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (January 14th)
Got to chapter 5 in Xenoblade 3 after nearly 90 hours in. Just unlocked a very cool explorable area. Can't believe how big this game is ....
Other than that not much. Definitely feels like a quiet time gaming wise for me.
Re: Poll: Kazuya & Sephiroth Smash amiibo Now Available, Will You Be Getting Them?
I've ordered them both! Can't wait. Should be with me later today.
Re: Talking Point: So, When Will Nintendo Announce Its Next Console?
I’m guessing they’ll announce their next console in early 2024 and release it later that same year which I think would be the perfect timing.
I feel like the switch has a lot of life in it yet, especially when you look at its lineup, and I’d rather wait for a more meaningful upgrade than just a resolution/frame rate boost. Hell if they want to wait until 2025 go for it as far as I’m concerned.
Re: Nintendo Provides A Look At Switch's Games Line-Up For 2023
Ye.... I want too many of these and more 😅
Zelda and Silksong though ... Those are the 'I'm ill and can't go to work' games!
Re: Feature: Our Gaming Predictions For 2023
@cammers1995 I've wanted a fallout 3/New Vegas collection for switch since the beginning or hell even fallout 4. But at this point I'm guessing it ain't happening.
Re: Feature: Our Gaming Predictions For 2023
@johnedwin switch 2 will likely be out by the time persona 6 launches but this is atlus. Persona 5 was meant to be a PS3 exclusive in 2017.... The PS4 came out in 2013. They've done similar things with other games too.
Too me that's not such a bad thing as their games are hardly tech pushers.
Re: Feature: Our Gaming Predictions For 2023
My 2023 predictions for Nintendo;
-TOTK to have one final delay to September where it will release alongside it's OLED special edition.
Re: Hands On: Fire Emblem Engage Is Surprisingly Fast-Paced And Delightfully Deep
@Aurumonado I know the feeling! I just hit chapter five in xenoblade Chronicles 3 after 75 hours.... I'm really doubtful I'll beat it in two weeks.
On top of that I have Kirby and Three Hopes I haven't even started yet.
Re: Hands On: Fire Emblem Engage Is Surprisingly Fast-Paced And Delightfully Deep
I've got the divine edition pre ordered ready! (Which is a rare thing for me to do).
I wasn't sold on this one staright away but the more I've seen the more I think it'll be great.
Re: Atlus Reveals Most Popular Persona 5 Royal Character In Official Poll
"Way to go Joker!"
Re: Zelda amiibo Listings Surface Online Ahead Of Tears Of The Kingdom Release
I'll have to keep my eyes glued to this. Really want some of those amiibos but their current prices I can't justify. The Wolf Link Amiibo will be mine! And maybe a few others too!
Re: Poll: The Year Of Luigi Was A Decade Ago, So Whose Turn Is It Now?
Zelda would be cool, might finally get a Sheik game!
But the year of Luigi 2 would be pretty damn good. The year of Yoshi would also be appreciated.
Re: Soapbox: If You Thought Last Year Was "Sad" For Switch, 2023 Might Be Hard To Handle
Nintendo's 2022 was great. Outside of Eldon ring and Ragnarok all of my gaming was on switch.
So many games came out for it there are still a few I haven't even started like Kirby and Three Hopes. I'll get to them when I finish Violet and Xeno 3.
Re: Soapbox: If You Thought Last Year Was "Sad" For Switch, 2023 Might Be Hard To Handle
Re: Talking Point: What Game Do You Replay Every Year?
I don't know if I have games I definitely return to every year, but I got a list of games I return to every 2-3 years or more.
The first four gens of Pokémon are childhood favourites... And I always try to build new teams to make it fresh!
Journey is perfect to replay with its 1 hour long playthrough. As is Smash Bros, mario kart, tetris and Splatoon 2/3 with their pick up and play feel.
Mass effect trilogy of course. Dragon age 1 and 2. Batman Arkham games. The og Gow games. Dead Space 1.
I usually jump into BOTW for a little bit most years.
Re: Editorial: Happy New Year From All Of Us At Nintendo Life
Happy new year!
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (December 31st)
@GrailUK Switch 2..... Now let's see you try and "slap around my chops"! 😜
