Re: Talking Point: What Does Your Favourite Pokémon Say About You?

Nf157

My favourite is Mimikyu. I like how his design and even special ability tell a story about a Pokemon whose basically attention seeking because his nature stops any form of eye contact or attachment and he just lashes out at poor old popular Pikachu over it (not sure what that says about me? 😅). But ye I like a design that tells me a lot about the monster (double points if it’s moves/abilities do to) and I think none do it better than Mimikyu. It’s shiny (which I’ve never been able to get) is also one of the best. I have so far always called them ‘PIKAPIKA’
My second favourite is also a Alola resident (underrated roster) and that’s decidueye (had too look up the spelling 😅). I really love the three stage evolutions and the final design is the perfect blend of many elements (archer, owl, ghost, even a hoodie etc.) without feeling like too much. He was also my main in Pokken and somehow had an equally cool region variant.
I always called him Oliver (Green Arrow)

Re: Nintendo Direct For Splatoon 3 Confirmed For This Week

Nf157

I'm hoping for a new co-op mode separate to salmon run (as fun as that is), this game definitely needs something to win me personally over as I already own spaltoon 2. The single player mode doesn't really mean much to me either but I'm not against being won over by it.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (August 6th)

Nf157

I imagine for the foreseeable future my answer will be Xenoblade Chronicles 3. 14 hours in so far and I'm so glad I didn't watch any trailers besides the reveal one, some very cool surprises I didn't see coming.
I've also got Neon White and Shredders Revenge ready to go but I haven't started yet. Guess I'll wait until I need a break from xeno (if I need a break).

Re: Poll: What Are You Hoping To See From This Week's 'Pokémon Presents'?

Nf157

I'd like to see how the open world works as that seems to be the coolest part (so far).
I'm not fussed on the new Pokémon they've shown so far so I'm hoping they'll show off some more and maybe one or two of them could win me over. Don't want to just use old ones, it's a new game after all, I'd rather if possible use six new ones.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (July 30th)

Nf157

Was on a bit of a break from gaming but that now officially over! Got Xenoblade chronicles 3 for my switch! I’ve ordered TMNT as well but that’s running late, don’t know when that’ll be delivered.
Also giving WWE 2k22 a shot during its free weekend on Xbox, I didn’t really want the game itself as much as I wanted the GM mode so now seems like the perfect time to jump in and have a go. Played through one 15 week run against my brother (who won but that’s not important right?) and it was pretty fun but it could have been better.

Re: Watch: Is Five Years Between Splatoon Games Too Short A Wait?

Nf157

Zero problem with another Splatoon on switch, especially as there’s five years between them (can’t believe it’s been that long!). But after five years peoples expectations would naturally go up and I don’t know if Splatoon 3 is winning over enough people. So far there’s been no mention of a new game mode which is a shame as I think that would have won a lot more over. But we’ll see, no doubt it will get it own direct or overview trailer before launch. Plenty of time to win everyone over.

Re: Talking Point: What Are The Nintendo Switch's Defining Moments (So Far)?

Nf157

Getting the console and swapping between handheld and TV mode. It was fun and gave the console a unique identity, something most consoles now can't claim. Me and my brother even used individual joy cons to play Mario kart in handheld mode during the first few weeks (until I wised up and got a pro controller).
The first splatfest (which was the pre release version) was really cool. Hadn't played Splatoon 1 so this was new to me.
Skyrim in portable form of course. That's something that's just great about handhelds, experiencing a game from a few years ago that was cutting edge now in the palm of your hands! So cool!
And finally Pokémon shield/Legends Arceus. I didn't end up getting shield because of the backlash (not that I was mad, just felt I was sick of hearing about it) but in 2021 it felt like everyone I knew finally got a switch and we all got Pokémon and completed the Dex and had tons of battles! Great times. Scarlet will hopefully continue this!

Re: Video: What Was Your First Video Game Ever?

Nf157

Street Fighter 2 for the SNES. It was a hand me down from my cousin's for me and my brother to share as they got a PS1 or ps2. Dhalsim was my favourite because he had the long limbs you could use to attack from afar, wasn't good enough to finish arcade mode any other way 😅 (Still my favourite Street Fighter character to this day, love the beard he's rocking nowadays!) Also had mario and Aladdin.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (July 9th)

Nf157

I’ve arrived at the final boss of Xenoblade chronicles 3d. I would have never guessed I’d play my second most played 3ds game in 2022.
Once I’m done with that I think I’ll return to tunic, really enjoyed what I played of it but it has been a week or two, I hope I won’t have to restart….

Re: Poll: What's Your Game Of The Year 2022 So Far?

Nf157

On Switch it would be Legends Arceus. Whilst I’m not one of the people fed up with the more traditional formula of the series this legends game was a nice refresh. The focus on completing the dex and simple catching Pokemon was a great change, I’d even go as far as too wish they stripped the story out and doubled down on a player driven experience (and maybe spice up the dex challenges instead of just ‘catch x amount of them’ and so on). None the less a really cool game.
Kind of saddened there’s likely no dlc for it but it is what it is.
My actual game of the year however is Elden Ring but that ain’t on switch.
Runners up would be Nobody Saves the World, Citizen Sleeper, Trek to Yomi and possible Tunic but I’m still on that one.
I’m still yet to play the likes of TMNT, Neon White, Kirby, Three Hopes and Card Shark, all of which look really good.

Re: Talking Point: So, What Did You Think Of Nintendo's June Mini-Direct?

Nf157

Way better than I thought. Portal collection was great news (and super cheap which is a nice change).
Nier would have been a huge surprise if the leak hadn't spoilt it. None the less a cool addition that I think I'll skip for the time being as I have enough to play.
Persona was good news... Unfortunately I haven't long bought Royal on ps after years of saying I'll wait for the switch version, great timing 😭

Re: Round Up: Every Game And Trailer From The Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase June 2022

Nf157

Way better than I thought. Portal collection was a good one, really cheap too. £14 for the two of them. I was willing to pay up to around £25 for the collection so that awesome.
Nier is a great one, in my top 10 games of last gen easily. Not sure if i’ll pick it up on switch as I already own it but maybe once it’s on sale and runs well.
I think you can all thank me for the persona 5 royal announcement. All these years I told myself I’m not buying royal on PlayStation because I already got 5 and it’s too expensive for what it is. I’ll wait until it goes to switch, won’t feel too bad buying the whole game then. So for years I waited and eventually I just figured it wasn’t coming so I bought it recently on sale. It has since been announced for switch and game pass so Ye… I jinxed it.

Re: Poll: What Are You Hoping To See In The Nintendo Direct Mini?

Nf157

I just got a silksong trailer…. But now I want another!
Other than that I’m open minded. A dream port pick would be a fallout 3/New Vegas collection but Im not hold my breath.
A Batman collection that included origins (the only one I haven’t played) would be cool, provided they ran well. Double good if I could buy Origins separate.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (June 25th)

Nf157

Well I've had COVID this week so plenty of time to blast through some games and TV shows.
Switch wise I've been making the most of my online membership so Splatoon 2, Mario Strikers (bit of a dissapointment...) and dabbling in Super Metroid.
I'm continuing my playthroughs of Xenoblade Chronicles 3d and Horizon Forbidden West (Both about 20 hours in so far).
But my proudest accomplishment for the week would be how many game pass games I've beaten. Trek to Yomi, Citizen Sleeper, Donut County, Disc room and currently on Tunic.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (May 21st)

Nf157

Still Elden Ring. 95 hours in since launch... Long game and for once I'm not complaining about that! Just got to the Malenia fight .... God help me....
Ringfit adventure as usual. Trying to keep at it! Hit day 101! (Not in a row or even close to it unfortunately but still!)
I've began buying games for the 3ds, gonna try and buy what I can before the opportunity goes forever, started with Shin Megami Tensai IV. Didn't really know anything about this game going in, I knew persona was a spin off of it and that it was Pokémon esque, and I'm glad I didn't know much because a lot of its world building took me by syrprise. I'm enjoying it enough so far. Kid Icarus and Luigi's Mansion next on my purchase list!

Re: Feature: Games That Got Us Through Tough Times

Nf157

Hard to say if a game has helped me when I’m feeling really down (usually don’t have the energy to play a game when I’m like that), but I think perhaps the closest story I got was back in my late teens I ended up playing the persona games on vita (3 portable and 4 golden) on a whim (the vita didn’t have much else to play) and they really got me thinking with its social links and everything the protagonist was doing in their down time whether or not I could be doing better with my life and whether or not I wasted it so far (absolutely did).
I’m still not nearly where I should be ten years later (so far from it….) but I think that experience with that game did help, made me want to hang out with my friends more and actually do stuff with them. At the very least I regret my late teen years just a little less thanks to those games.

Re: Feature: 11 Switch Games To Play During Mental Health Awareness Month

Nf157

I never really got into Minecraft but recently visited my nephew's and played a few games with them including Minecraft and I found it was surprisingly relaxing, maybe even extremely so.
I can imagine me after work just booting it up and just building something in creative mode... Therapeutic is a fitting word I think 👍 chills me right out!

Re: Rumour: Could Switch Get Zelda: Wind Waker And Twilight Princess This Year?

Nf157

I think IF we get them on switch it will be during the switch's twilight (😅) year. That sort of awkward year where Nintendo doesn't want to invest to much in switch first party games because its successor is the following year, kind of like Twilight Princess on Wii u a little before the switch. Or maybe we just won't get them at all not the end of the world (as nice as it would be).
I also really don't think they'd drop it this year, most people I imagine take a little while to finish a Zelda game and there's two here with botw sequel sometime next year, they wouldn't want people burning out on Zelda or still playing them by the time the new one comes out. My take anyways.

Re: Upcoming Nintendo Switch Games And Accessories For May And June 2022

Nf157

Three Hopes and Strikers (provided the online is to standard anyways) for me. Then Splatoon 3 and Scarlet later in the year. I'm going to be giving Xenoblade 3ds another go, if I enjoy it I may also treat myself to 3 (judging by this comment I'll be treating myself a lot this year 😅). And of course if Silksong will grace us with its presence I'll be getting that too.... And I'm still yet to buy Kirby ...

Re: 85 Must-Have Games You Should Pick Up In The Switch eShop Sale (Europe)

Nf157

Outside of telltales games from years ago and dangonrompa 2 I haven't played any visual novels. I think I should change that. Help me interest, which one on sale should I buy? I was thinking phoenix wright or ai but I'm open to suggestions.
Other than that there's doesn't seem to be a while load for for me. I was thinking mystery dungeon but it's still a bit expensive (and knowing my luck Nintendo would afterwards announce the Gameboy expansion with the gam win it...). Was hoping for xenoblades or cadence of hyrule but they're a no show.

Re: Nintendo To Launch Huge 'Spring Into Action' eShop Sale This Thursday (Europe)

Nf157

Hopefully some 3ds sales in Europe, I'm holding off buying the remaining games I want on that system in case of a sale.
Other than that I'm not sure what I'd like. I've been contemplating playing xenoblade chronicles, I have it on 3ds but I imagine it would play batter on switch.
I'd probably go Mario maker 2 if it went on a deep sale not just the usual 30% off. Shin Megami tensai V or 3, mystery dungeon, hyrule warriors (1st one) or Cross code. I'll probably end up getting nothing and wait until Mario strikers and three hopes 😅

Re: Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Writer Reflects On The IP's Strengths And Appeal

Nf157

I loved the first one growing up, considered it on par with the mainline games. I only played a bit of the second one though (went through a call of duty faze at the time and left Pokémon alone for some years), would like to have a switch port to give it a go considering it's meant to be the best one (or better yet a new one altogether)

Re: Video: What Legend Of Zelda Games Can We Expect To Fill The Gap In 2022?

Nf157

I only got properly into the series with switch. I had played wind waker on the GameCube when I was younger but didn't finish it and I played a few on the 3ds but didn't finish them either. But I've beaten every Zelda game on switch and I'm ready for more.
If they are going to release a filler game this year I'd rather it be something a bit less expected than wind waker or Twilight Princess (I'd still play those though), like perhaps remaking Minish cap which looks great, or oracle of season. Perhaps another indie calab for the series.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (April 9th)

Nf157

Going for the extra content in pikmin 3 (olimars missions and challenges) which I'm preferring to the main campaign. I just like having the small replayable levels to try and get the platinum badges for.
Also finally started Splatoon 2's Octo Expansion and that's off to a good start. This might be my favourite game on switch and that was definitely not because of the campaign. This feels like a decent step up so far though. Hopefully 3's campaign follow this trajectory.
And of course my weekend ringfit adventure sessions. Would love more content like when they added the Zelda and Splatoon courses.

Re: Feature: 10 3DS Retail Games That Might Be Cheaper To Buy Digitally While You Can

Nf157

I plan on spending a good bit before the store closes for good. Going to wait a until last minute however in case they do a sale.
So far I know I’m getting luigi’s mansion 1 + 2, fire emblem birthright/revelations and shin megami tensei iv + apocalypse.
I’m also considering kid icarus (looks cool but I’m not sure how comfortable that’ll be with the new 3ds xl), ever oasis (got the demo ready) and monster Hunter stories (enjoyed the demo)

Re: Feature: 6 Things We Pokémon Vets Want To See In Pokémon Scarlet And Violet

Nf157

If we're talking dream ideas, then I want them to go the nemesis system route with the rivals. Have some of them spring up randomly with a team designed to counter yours and keep track of your win/loss record against them, the one that beat you the most can be the final league battle. Personally I would love that even though it will not happen.
More grounded desires would a bigger focus on new Pokémon than old ones (probably not based on the trailer and recent games) and a decent endgame that isn't a legendary hunt (was cool the first few times).
Speaking of legendaries, I'd like them to feel more special this time, move them out of the main campaign and make it a bit of a quest to actually find them.
