A new game in the Colloseum and XD gale of darkness saga. Pokken 2 on the switch successor. Conquest as I've never played it. A game focused on creating and running your own Pokémon gym where you can have other people online play and rate it! The main one however would be for them to build on top of legends acreus. That game was very cool but clearly there was also room for improvement.
The Splatfest will be my main focus this weekend (Team Gear!). Already 20 hours into the game (and an additional 10 for the pre launch fest!). Other than that my usual ring fit adventure. Weathers cooling down a lot recently so I have more energy which is nice. Xeno 3 and Neon White are also coming along nicely, I think Neon especially is coming to an end (most under appreciated game of the year, more people need to talk about it!)
I've fallen for the trap of having too many games on the go at once! Neon White, chapter four I think. I've been platinum running each mission (+gifts) so that's probably taking me longer than it should. Xeno 3 playthrough continues. Nowhere near the end but I don't mind. Might even pick up the pass and get those extra characters as I'm playing it. Splatoon 3. Salmon run for the win! Looking forward to the Splatfest! I missed those! Ringfit. Finally re-found my momentum. God of war (2018). I wanted to see if I'd still like it in 2022 and also to re prep me for Ragnarok. But why did I start this? I've got enough to play!
Thought it was great! Whilst brief, Tears of the Kingdom looked absolutely amazing! (Nice to finally have a name and date too, even if the date doesn’t stick). Pikmin 4 was an awesome surprise! I was worried they where just reminding us bloom existed. Not sure how I feel about fire emblem. Big fan of awakening and three houses but I haven’t played the rest of them so the whole nostalgia grab is lost on me, same with the first Fire emblem warriors. Raincore looks really cool. A new Splatfest is of course welcome. Mario strikers and Xeno got ok updates. Haven’t played Kirby but they look interesting. So overall I thought it was good. (Maybe one or two too many farming games for my tastes 😅)
I've learned to treat directs more open minded and less going in wanting a specific thing.... But that's boring so here's what I want! Breath of the Wild 2 of course. A teaser for a new mainline Fire Emblem game! Silksong! Shadow Drop! Now!!! Shredders Revenge DLC (more of an indie direct thing though?) A new Scarlet and Violet Mon! One that I actually like preferably.... Wind Waker and Twilight Princess! A combo pack or separate whatever! Metroid.... Just more metroid! Skyrim anniversary but only if it's available via a cheap upgrade path (cheap like £5 cheap, of course free would be great but why would I expect that in this world?) And of course a new Nintendo IP that nobody sees coming. So ye none of this is happening!
I really like that the home of Mario and Pokemon and Zelda took a risk on something new and it’s now sitting comfortably next to them in terms of importance. Hopefully they’ll take more risks like this going forward (which I suppose they have with Arms and Ringfit etc.
They are deceivingly one of Nintendo's most important studios by the sound of it. I'm not a game freak hater by no means but I wonder if the Pokémon company could lend monolith for a bit?
My four games on the go now are the newly released Splatoon 3 (It doesn't reinvent the wheel but it's more Splatoon which after 5 years is more than welcome), and my continued playthroughs of Xenoblade 3 (45 hours in and by the looks of it nowhere near the end) and Neon White (under-talked about) And of course my usual Ringfit Adventure. Finally got past one of those annoying 'complete this mission in x amount of steps' that was really killing my motivation with it.
I prefer the switch itself in the Splatoon one but the Pokemon dock is cooler so I voted for the that. But they’re both very cool, if I hadn’t bought a ps5 at the end of last year and I knew for certain a switch successor was at least 2-3 years off I may have caved and got one of these.
Sure I’d play them. Wind waker is one of those games from my childhood I loved but didn’t finish so If a port became available I’d write that wrong. But if they didn’t happen I won’t be losing sleep over it. I’d rather brand new games anyways like BOTW 2 (and they can take their time with that…. Not that they haven’t been 😅)
I didn't realise how stacked this month was. Splatoon 3 is my main pick with Anno, TemTem and BPM being my potential extras.
Though saying that I haven't got through to even buying a lot of the games I've wanted in previous month's like Cult of the Lamb, Elechead, Kirby, Card Shark and the Voice of cards games....
Personally I hope we don't get a proper direct until at least late December. Way too many games to keep up with this year and many more coming soon. Seems like wasted effort to do one now.
From worst to best (with my favourite form each cos why not?) Gen 8 - Appletun (Followed by Inteleon and toxicity) Gen 5 - Zoroark (Followed by Volcarona and Hydreigon) Gen 6 - Goodra (Followed by Greninja and Braixen) Gen 2 - Ampharos (Followed by Espeon, Aipom and Crobat) Gen 1 - Eevee (Followed by Blastoise, Nidoqueen/King and Alakazam) Gen 4 - Garchomp (Followed by Torterra, Gliscor, Lucario and Buizel, Electivire) Gen 7 - Mimikyu (Best ever) (Followed by Decidueye, Toucannon, Incinaroar, Alohan Ninetales, Minior) Gen 3 - The three starters (Followed by Requaza, Deoxys, Latios, Gardevoir, Hariyana, Mawile, Wailord, Snorunt, Flygon, Milotic, Duskull and Banette)
Really enjoyed this game. Top 5 this year so far but I think I’ve had my fill on it (didn’t 100% the main game as it was) so I think I’ll pass, at least for now. Might go back to it someday when it’s all feeling fresh however.
@UltimateOtaku91 sunset overdive is a very fun game! Messing about in the open world is just so entertaining! The campaign and stuff is ok, nothing to write home about but it's makes up for it in style
Played and finished Shredders Revenge on Thursday/Friday and now it's Splatfest all day! Team Rock for the win! Tried some Ringfit but I'm on one of those levels you have to finish in a certain amount of steps and I'm stuck on it, really ruined the momentum I've built with it.... Then Sunday I'll likely be back to Xenoblade 3 and maybe play some online with Pokémon Sheild, considering the next mainline game is only a few months away I feel like getting the most out of this one before then.
The Wind Waker back on GameCube, I never finished it but I really enjoyed what I played. Would like to try it again some day. I started to get properly into Zelda on the 3ds however with Majora’s Mask and a link between worlds (which I also didn’t finish) and then the switch is where it became a series I truly loved thanks to BOTW, Links Awakening, Age of Calamity and Skyward Sword HD (all of which I’ve finished!)
Gen 5 was uncharacteristically good in the narrative department. None of the others come close. Second place I'd go sun and moon, way too heavy on the non scipable cutscenes but none the less it was good.
Continuing my adventure in Xenoblade Chronicles 3. Just shy of 30 hours so far and I’m in no rush to finish it, might even go for 100% but we’ll see. Back at ringfit adventure, the heat has stopped me exercising more or less completely (even walks) but it’s cooled down a lot now so I’m looking to get back into it. Already feel like I’ve lost a great deal of my fitness in such a short time…. Not sure what else. Would love to finally give shredders revenge, Neon white or Cult of the lamb a shot but I don’t think I’ll get around to any of them anytime soon.
This is one of those games I really want to play but has slipped through my fingers thanks to the avalanche of other games that have released. I'm sure I'll get to it eventually however.
My favourite is Mimikyu. I like how his design and even special ability tell a story about a Pokemon whose basically attention seeking because his nature stops any form of eye contact or attachment and he just lashes out at poor old popular Pikachu over it (not sure what that says about me? 😅). But ye I like a design that tells me a lot about the monster (double points if it’s moves/abilities do to) and I think none do it better than Mimikyu. It’s shiny (which I’ve never been able to get) is also one of the best. I have so far always called them ‘PIKAPIKA’
My second favourite is also a Alola resident (underrated roster) and that’s decidueye (had too look up the spelling 😅). I really love the three stage evolutions and the final design is the perfect blend of many elements (archer, owl, ghost, even a hoodie etc.) without feeling like too much. He was also my main in Pokken and somehow had an equally cool region variant.
I always called him Oliver (Green Arrow)
I planning on scarlet and the fire starter. But my brother decided he wants scarlet now and Fuecoco…. So I guess I’m stuck with violet and that stupid duck starter….
Another co-op mode that isn’t salmon run. That’s good and it’s cool that’s it’s returning but being a sequel having a brand new mode would help warm me too it. And I hope I do warm to it because Splatoon 2 is one of my favourite switch games.
A test fire would also be awesome!
I'm hoping for a new co-op mode separate to salmon run (as fun as that is), this game definitely needs something to win me personally over as I already own spaltoon 2. The single player mode doesn't really mean much to me either but I'm not against being won over by it.
@Snatcher the code for both demon's souls and shadow of the Colossus was still there in the remakes. They simple added new assets (character models, textures etc.) And cleaned it up to make it run better and added some QOL improvements. Underneath all that it is the same game, at least that's my understanding of it.
@Snatcher personally I count the demon's souls 'remake' as a remaster as the game was almost identical to the original. Same goes for Shadow of the Colossus. Remakes to me are games that are remade from the ground up like resident evil 2 and 3, final fantasy 7 etc.
I imagine for the foreseeable future my answer will be Xenoblade Chronicles 3. 14 hours in so far and I'm so glad I didn't watch any trailers besides the reveal one, some very cool surprises I didn't see coming. I've also got Neon White and Shredders Revenge ready to go but I haven't started yet. Guess I'll wait until I need a break from xeno (if I need a break).
@CorePrideX a legends expansions in the vein of what monster Hunter does would be awesome! I would have preferred that this year but I'll just have too do with a brand new game instead
I'd like to see how the open world works as that seems to be the coolest part (so far). I'm not fussed on the new Pokémon they've shown so far so I'm hoping they'll show off some more and maybe one or two of them could win me over. Don't want to just use old ones, it's a new game after all, I'd rather if possible use six new ones.
Cult of the lamb and lost in play look great but I'm doubtful I'll be done with Xenoblade anytime soon. I also recently got neon White and turtles that I haven't even touched yet so it's unlikely I'll be buying anything this month (I say this but will I?)
My personal favourite metroidvania and probably a top 10 game ever. That silence is a big part of it. A lot of games have attempted that sort of 'after the end' feeling but I don't know if any caught it like Hollow Knight (and the jump as you said is perfect!) As for the next game I'd like Baba is you. I didn't finish it but what I played was really unique.
Was on a bit of a break from gaming but that now officially over! Got Xenoblade chronicles 3 for my switch! I’ve ordered TMNT as well but that’s running late, don’t know when that’ll be delivered. Also giving WWE 2k22 a shot during its free weekend on Xbox, I didn’t really want the game itself as much as I wanted the GM mode so now seems like the perfect time to jump in and have a go. Played through one 15 week run against my brother (who won but that’s not important right?) and it was pretty fun but it could have been better.
Zero problem with another Splatoon on switch, especially as there’s five years between them (can’t believe it’s been that long!). But after five years peoples expectations would naturally go up and I don’t know if Splatoon 3 is winning over enough people. So far there’s been no mention of a new game mode which is a shame as I think that would have won a lot more over. But we’ll see, no doubt it will get it own direct or overview trailer before launch. Plenty of time to win everyone over.
Getting the console and swapping between handheld and TV mode. It was fun and gave the console a unique identity, something most consoles now can't claim. Me and my brother even used individual joy cons to play Mario kart in handheld mode during the first few weeks (until I wised up and got a pro controller). The first splatfest (which was the pre release version) was really cool. Hadn't played Splatoon 1 so this was new to me. Skyrim in portable form of course. That's something that's just great about handhelds, experiencing a game from a few years ago that was cutting edge now in the palm of your hands! So cool! And finally Pokémon shield/Legends Arceus. I didn't end up getting shield because of the backlash (not that I was mad, just felt I was sick of hearing about it) but in 2021 it felt like everyone I knew finally got a switch and we all got Pokémon and completed the Dex and had tons of battles! Great times. Scarlet will hopefully continue this!
Street Fighter 2 for the SNES. It was a hand me down from my cousin's for me and my brother to share as they got a PS1 or ps2. Dhalsim was my favourite because he had the long limbs you could use to attack from afar, wasn't good enough to finish arcade mode any other way 😅 (Still my favourite Street Fighter character to this day, love the beard he's rocking nowadays!) Also had mario and Aladdin.
I've played so much video games this year that I'm going to be playing ... Nothing most likely (minus a bit of ringfit). Could use a bit of a break from games before xenoblade Chronicles 3 comes out.
Minit is a good shout. Super Smash Bros is an obvious one. A quick game of turf war in Splatoon 2 works. Donut County is broken up into quick missions and is really good.
I’ve arrived at the final boss of Xenoblade chronicles 3d. I would have never guessed I’d play my second most played 3ds game in 2022. Once I’m done with that I think I’ll return to tunic, really enjoyed what I played of it but it has been a week or two, I hope I won’t have to restart….

Re: New Pokémon For Scarlet And Violet Revealed, And It's A Weird Little Fella
I actually kind of Diglett!
Re: Nintendo Introduces New Fire Emblem Engage Characters
Minus the protagonist the art style isn't putting me off. Even if I prefer three house's take I do like how this one looks visually.
Re: Team Gear Wins Splatoon 3's Deserted Island Splatfest
Take that Big Man!
I'm now two for two in Splatoon 3's splatfests!

Ringfit. Finally re-found my momentum.
God of war (2018). I wanted to see if I'd still like it in 2022 and also to re prep me for Ragnarok. But why did I start this? I've got enough to play!
Re: Lots Of Splatoon amiibo Have Been Restocked To Coincide With Splatoon 3's Launch
Good spot! I really wanted the marina and pearl amiibos but I really didn't want to spend £50. Now I only spent £20 so this is INKredicle!

Wind Waker and Twilight Princess! A combo pack or separate whatever!
Metroid.... Just more metroid!
Skyrim anniversary but only if it's available via a cheap upgrade path (cheap like £5 cheap, of course free would be great but why would I expect that in this world?)
And of course a new Nintendo IP that nobody sees coming.
So ye none of this is happening!

Re: Poll: Do You Actually Want Switch Ports Of Wind Waker And Twilight Princess?
Sure I’d play them. Wind waker is one of those games from my childhood I loved but didn’t finish so If a port became available I’d write that wrong.
But if they didn’t happen I won’t be losing sleep over it. I’d rather brand new games anyways like BOTW 2 (and they can take their time with that…. Not that they haven’t been 😅)

Also giving WWE 2k22 a shot during its free weekend on Xbox, I didn’t really want the game itself as much as I wanted the GM mode so now seems like the perfect time to jump in and have a go. Re: Watch: Is Five Years Between Splatoon Games Too Short A Wait?
Zero problem with another Splatoon on switch, especially as there’s five years between them (can’t believe it’s been that long!). But after five years peoples expectations would naturally go up and I don’t know if Splatoon 3 is winning over enough people. So far there’s been no mention of a new game mode which is a shame as I think that would have won a lot more over. But we’ll see, no doubt it will get it own direct or overview trailer before launch. Plenty of time to win everyone over.
Re: Talking Point: What Are The Nintendo Switch's Defining Moments (So Far)?
Re: Video: What Was Your First Video Game Ever?
Street Fighter 2 for the SNES. It was a hand me down from my cousin's for me and my brother to share as they got a PS1 or ps2. Dhalsim was my favourite because he had the long limbs you could use to attack from afar, wasn't good enough to finish arcade mode any other way 😅 (Still my favourite Street Fighter character to this day, love the beard he's rocking nowadays!) Also had mario and Aladdin.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (July 16th)
I've played so much video games this year that I'm going to be playing ... Nothing most likely (minus a bit of ringfit).
Could use a bit of a break from games before xenoblade Chronicles 3 comes out.
Re: Best Switch Games For Short Play Sessions
Minit is a good shout. Super Smash Bros is an obvious one. A quick game of turf war in Splatoon 2 works. Donut County is broken up into quick missions and is really good.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (July 9th)

Puts my collection to Shame!
