Splatoon 2, Skyward Sword HD, Astral Chain, Three Houses, Skyrim, Hollow Knight, Tetris Effect, Transistor, Final Fantasy VII/IX remasters are my picks.
I considered Super smash Bros ultimate but that seemed like cheating considering it has every other games music.
Persona strikers, Mario odyssey and Country freeze are my other runners up
Fun idea! For me I'd go; 2017 Splatoon 2 2018 Hollow Knight 2019 Fire Emblem... Luigi's Mansion 3... Shield.... Astral Chain... Good year, don't know.... Fire Emblem! I'll go Fire Emblem! (I think?) 2020 Age of Calamity 2021 Skyward Sword HD (sorry Dread, extremely close second though) 2022 I'm thinking it'll end up being Arceus (Zelda/Silksong would be it's main rivals IF they launch)
Haven't finished arceus yet (not because I haven't enjoyed it, just taking my time) so I'm probably not as hyped as I would usually would be. Still the open world aspect and locations seem really cool, the Pokémon models look much more detailed (not a fan of the people though). I don't know how similar to arceus this will be but I'm open minded either way, looking forward to seeing more.
@Mattock1987 no it was available outside of Japan, it was a follow up to colloseum. Wish they continued that part of the universe or at least ported them to switch
@BlubberWhale no problem, and yes yellow is gen 1 and the let's go games on switch (whilst in their own right fun) changed and simplified the games considerably.
@BlubberWhale the older gameboy games are very easy to get into and have held up very well. Not too bloated an experience either, should be a more than playable game even if you don’t have lots of time. Crystal is considered one of the better ones though personally I think gen 1 (Red and blue) was better (as well as their fire red and leaf green remakes)
@Mattock1987 they actually did that before with the 2 GameCube games (colosseum and Gale of darkness), very underrated games in my opinion and worth a shot if you can get hold of them.
I played this on the 3ds and I really, really wanted to like this. The story, atmosphere, the three day cycle (sometimes), the side quests, masks, music etc. we're all so great but it was also seriously tedious. Unfortunately it killed the game for me at about 16 hours if I recall (I needed to get those 4 fish I think for the aquarium). But I still got some worthwhile memories from playing this game so it was still worth experiencing.
Pokémon Sun was the no.1 most played for me, following Y and then omega Ruby (4th spot would have been fire emblem Awakening, thought I'd mention it for the sake of variety, but then Pokémon Gold follows that so that doesn't help...) I think if I had the 3ds at launch instead of the vita (I ended up getting one about a year before the switch launched) I may have appreciated the system more, seems like it has a lot more to give than what I ended up getting out of it. Still got xenoblade, samus returns and Luigi's mansion 2 to play though, I should make time for those.
Better get to it with buying 3ds games then. I got one very late in its life cycle so I ended up missing a bunch of games. Definitely need to buy the two Luigi's mansions, not sure what else yet, wish metroid fusion was available, bit of a blind spot for me
Day one for me. Was thinking of getting the limited edition but after seeing the price I figured the extra money can go towards another game seems as it's looking very stacked this year.
This game looks awesome but I will wait until there's proof the online isn't of poor quality like some other Nintendo games, but if it all checks out I'll probably get this with a voucher alongside one of the other many new games coming out
Where does one pre order this edition? Can't find it anywhere. Also a bit of a lightbulb moment for me, with the release of this game will Nintendo also release a female Byleth amiibo?
Really, really good. It's a good thing I don't have other expensive hobbies or I'd be broke 😅 Three hopes I really didn't expect so that's the highlight for me.
Way more than I expected! Was hoping for a new mainline fire emblem but I'll gladly take three hopes, age of calamity was great so high hopes for that one. Strikers looks really fun as does Kirby (or Herbie!) and triangle strategy. Still have to play the xenoblade games, got the first one on 3ds, one of those 'I swear I'll get to it one day' games. Chrono cross is interesting, always wanted to play trigger but it's never been available on the consoles I've own, do I need to have played that for the second? Live a live looks cool, never heard of it before but I like the concept of playing different characters from efferent eras. Whether or not I'll actually play it remains to be seen. Also no Splatoon 3 release date? That was one of my more certain predictions.
Kirby, advanced wars and Triangle strategy seem like a given (but you never know). Splatoon 3 release date in June I'm going with. They'll mention the breath of the wild sequel, simple saying you'll hear more about it later this year. Nothing metroid 😔 I think something fire emblem feels overdue, so I'm going with a new game not a remake. I was thinking something xenoblade too but that seems like too much for one direct? Maybe save either that or fire emblem for E3, but I'm predicting one of the two here.
That looked awesome. Great choices for influences too, two modern classics in my eyes but it’s also got its own feel and vibe. Could be something special.
Kirby is a very strong possibility for me, triangle strategy is somewhat likely depending on the reviews, chocobo gp looks fun but I'll wait for a sale on that one. Of course it all depends on when I finish arceus and elden ring, I'll try my hardest this year to actually finish my games before buying new ones (minus elden ring because it's elden ring)
I'm thinking the Outer Wilds on Xbox and New Pokémon Snap on Switch. Just finished Superluminal which was a good indie puzzler I'd recommend. Inception meets portal with the main mechanic being that you can alter the size and shape of objects depending on how you look at them. I was also playing Alan Wake for the first time but I'm really struggling to get into that one. Hopefully I won't give up on it but it's not looking promising.
Fallout 3 or New Vegas would be awesome, though I wouldn't be upset with 4. Pyre, that way every supergiant game can be on switch. Not sure what else I'd like. The want for a persona game on switch has come and gone for me, I guess the same could be said about all ports at this point, just bring on the new Indies/first party games.
@SupDan personally I kind of hope it is far more open and player driven than the last few games, the idea of 'heres the main hub, here's a few pokeballs, your starter and your goal to complete the first Pokédex, ok go!' sounds awesome too me. I think the last few got way to bogged down with cinematics and story, and I don't mind the open world being empty of landmarks and towns provided the Pokémon themselves are interesting to see and find, but that's just me.
Well I’m excited. Not expecting a masterpiece but I’ve always enjoyed this series even when it’s just doing the same old. It’s just a easy to enjoy formula. At the same time I’m not against it trying a few new things like this one. Love the focus on filling out the Pokédex, that was always my favourite part.
Recently starting playing tails of iron and so far its really won me over. Medieval mice fighting frogs in a hand drawn, challenging, 2d action rpg narrated by Geralt of Rivia.
Wanted to play Blue Fire but never got around to it, hopefully I will at some point though because it looks like something I’d enjoy a lot.
I’ll be saving the is video for a later date, looks like a fun watch. My favourites would be the Blastoise line, Eevee/Vaporeon, Ninetales (though I’ve come to love the alolan form more), Arcanine, bulbasaur/Ivysaur, Nidoking, Nidoqueen, Alakazam and the Butterfree line.
@OldManHermit if you liked the first little nightmares then the second one is a must buy (as is the dlc for the first game of you haven’t played them already). Some really creative imagery and gameplay mechanics that I won’t spoil but well worth the full price (I think it’s on sale at the moment too)
When I played a good amount of new games on the system and there are still a sizeable handful I wanted but never got, I’ll consider that a very good year.
277 hours overall, up by 16 hours in 2020…. Pokemon shield took no.1 most played with 113, skyward sword no.2 with 47.
Doesn’t sound too bad, until I start adding time played on other consoles then I look like the no life that I really am.
I know I got 50+ hours on sekiro and Dragon Age Origins, 30+ on pillars of eternity and halo infinite, 20+ on Deaths door, Pyschonauts 1 + 2, Forza horizon 5 and Resident Evil 8, and of course a bunch of other shorter games like little nightmares 1 + 2 and Metroid dread… maybe 2022 I’ll get a life if Arceus, Elden ring, Splatoon, god of war, Silksong, nobody saves the world, starfield and Zelda all suffer major delays to 23 but something tells me they won’t.
@Exciter89 I’ve been waiting for pyre to hit switch for ages. One of my most requested ports (provided it runs well, the PS4 version at launch was a bit iffy)

@Teksetter I know the feeling. The last few years I’ve tried to keep only 2 games on the go at a time but I’ve slipped these last few months. Got halo, forza, Eastward, tails of iron and pillars of eternity on the go, and I got dragons dogma, dragon quest 11, Pikmin 3 and it takes two ready to go right after. And the games like the gunk, Legends Arceus, Elden ring, nobody saves the world, silksong (I assume) in the near future. There’s no way I’m getting though all this 😭 good problem to have I suppose
@Teksetter I tried the game whilst it was still on Xbox game pass. I didn’t quite finish it but it was really good (and I almost always dislike rogue likes). Very difficult, especially the first few hours when your learning the ropes but worth a play no doubt. Ah memories 😭 but I don’t really have any interest in replaying these games. I still look back on this trilogy fondly though, Ezio is one of the greats and it’s worth a play if you’re a fan of the series.
It really doesn’t feel like legends Arceus is only a month away… and it really really doesn’t feel like Elden ring is about two months away. Good gaming days ahead!
For me (worst to best); X and y, gold and silver (I know, I know), sword and shield, black and white, diamond and Pearl, sun and moon, red and blue, ruby and sapphire. I do like all the games though, one of my favourite gaming franchises, can’t wait for Arceus

I think a game is 'beaten' when the credits roll.
Took me 75 hours to beat botw, did that twice, never 100%ed it though.

@Teksetter I tried the game whilst it was still on Xbox game pass. I didn’t quite finish it but it was really good (and I almost always dislike rogue likes). Very difficult, especially the first few hours when your learning the ropes but worth a play no doubt.
I think I’ll probably buy the game eventually to go back and finish it (I had one run where I almost got to the end and failed…. It was too traumatic to continue)

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (November 13th)
Guardians on ps5, started to warm up to it more in the second half (story wise anyways, gameplay is satisfactory I guess).
Forza horizon 5 too. The setting of Mexico is awesome.
