Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (14th March)

Nep-Nep-Freak

Hello again, y'all! This weekend I'm playing:

Switch:
Pokémon LeafGreen: ever since I arrived at Vermilion City a few days ago, I've been doing nothing but grinding levels for my Pokémon party on Route 11 and Diglett's Cave, and as such, several of my Pokémon have evolved. Pretty soon, I will hop aboard the S.S. Anne.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: I was playing this a bit recently, both by myself and with a sibling, to celebrate Mario Day. Perhaps I'll play a bit more?

Re: Best Super Mario Games Of All Time

The list of games on this list that I like a lot:

Odyssey
Wonder

Galaxy and Galaxy 2 (specifically the Switch rereleases that add in assist mode) are probably awesome as well, but I haven't played them yet, only watched a playthrough of the first one on YouTube years ago, same with 3D World + Bowser's Fury.

I gotta play more Mario sometime.

Re: Yoshi And The Mysterious Book Lands Switch 2 Release Date

Nep-Nep-Freak

I'm almost certainly passing on it. Not because I think it looks bad or anything, but because I don't have a Switch 2 quite yet, I have other priorities, and I'm still giving NOA less of my money lately because of... reasons (something to do with Neptunia).

Still, hopefully anyone who does play this game enjoys it.

Re: Nintendo "Cagey" About Letting Games On Switch 2, Wants To Avoid "Slop Fest"

Nep-Nep-Freak

The thing is, taking out what a lot of people call "garbage" will only lead to disappointing people who like that "garbage". I bet there are some people out there who get a kick out of "slop", just like I get a kick out of the Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth Trilogy, which had its American Switch release canceled by NOA itself.

I am not against introducing more filters and individual on/off publisher blocking for the eShop though.

@Rykdrew,

"I wanna buy Donkey Kong Returns and Mario Maker 2 today. I need opinions! Thanks!"

I haven't played and don't own Donkey Kong Country Returns, but I will say that Super Mario Maker 2 is definitely worth the price of admission (I've put in a bit more than 100 hours) and there is still a thriving online community, if you're getting it for the online course world.

Hello again, y'all! This weekend I'm playing:

Switch:
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: my uncle came over for a family member's birthday party this Saturday, and as usual, we played some Smash last night and will be playing more this weekend. A few things to note:
1. Yesterday was my first time logging into Smash all year 😅 Not much to do when your spirit collection is complete
2. As of yesterday, I have officially reached 250 hours in Smash
Animal Crossing New Horizons: as of this week, I have finally paid off the final house storage upgrade from the new update and also obtained all of the Lego collaboration items. Not much else that I want to do in this game at the moment, so I will put it on hiatus for a few months. My sisters will probably still play on their slumber islands some though.
Pokémon LeafGreen: I'm currently at Cerulean City with one badge in my possession, but I'm grinding some levels on Route 4 before challenging the next gym leader.

Re: Talking Point: After 30 Years, Is It Time To Reset The Pokédex?

Nep-Nep-Freak

I think I would be fine with the occasional generation here and there that saves all returning Pokémon for the post game (probably not likely to happen at this point though, because of the Black and White controversy and each new game now having 400+ Pokémon), though I would rather not experience a completely reset Pokédex. That would just confuse me, a long time Pokémon fan who has, like, all the Pokémon memorized, just not in exact order for a lot of them.

Re: Review: Pokémon FireRed & LeafGreen (Switch) - Red-Hot Nostalgia In A So-So Wrapper

Nep-Nep-Freak

I'm actually really glad that they hardly changed anything. I wanted to play a classic, unedited Pokémon game on my Switch for $20, which is why the addition of the word filter is a massive disappointment (I wouldn't have pre-ordered it if they were upfront about its addition). Though I am glad that the Mystery Gift Mythicals are built in.

Not a 10/10 because of the word filter, but I have been enjoying the gameplay when I'm not thinking about the word filter, so I give it an 8/10 score.

Re: Gallery: Here's A Look At Pokémon Winds & Waves On Switch 2

Nep-Nep-Freak

@AussieMcBucket, it was my first ever openworld game, and having all that exploration freedom for the first time was mind blowing. I also really liked the story and the characters, some of which I felt like I really related to (like Penny, who has a very introverted personality like myself). Also the ending was incredible, and I liked a fair amount of the new Pokémon designs, like Quaquaval and Ceruledge.

As for what I didn't like about it, there wasn't much. One of the gym challenges was a bit tough for me and I had to look up the answer, and the Tera Raids were a bit glitch at times, but other then that, I actually had no other problems with the game.

As for which game surpassed it recently, that would be Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1 (I became a really big Hyperdimension Neptunia fan last year, and it's currently my second favorite franchise after Pokémon, hence my name on this site).

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (28th February)

Nep-Nep-Freak

Hello again, y'all. I don't know what I want to play this weekend anymore. Now that I know the Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen ports add that stupid word filter when they are supposed to be true to the originals, my will to play LeafGreen has taken a massive nosedive. Maybe I'll play Pokémon LeafGreen Version, if I can begrudgingly will myself to play a censored game. Maybe I'll grind some more levels in Dragon Quest XI S. Maybe I'll play some more Super Neptunia RPG. I just don't know, and right now I don't give a crap because I'm really upset. I'll at least play a bit of this:

Animal Crossing New Horizons: I think I'm maybe a week away from affording the final house storage upgrade.

Re: Poll: What's Your Favourite 3DS Model?

Nep-Nep-Freak

When I had a used regular 2DS from the Summer of 2023 to the Summer of 2024 (it broke on me even though I took good care of it 😭), I enjoyed it quite a bit, so I voted for the original 2DS. I'm not the greatest fan of that Nintendo generation though 🤔.

Re: Fans Are Asking Nintendo To Refund Xenoblade Chronicles X's Switch 2 Upgrade

@Debo626,

I'm disappointed about both, since I like experiencing original, unedited versions of media. I'm not a fan of any censored media, I really love original versions, especially when it comes to Japanese media, no matter how weird it is, because I love genuine Japanese media the way it was originally made.

"this is supposed to be a kids' game"

It's actually rated T for Teen (which is ages 13 and up), so technically the audience for the game are still "kids" or "minors", but even in the United States, it is culturally acceptable for teens to play games that have suggestive content or more scanty outfits in it (though any game that has complete n*dity or explicit s*x gets an immediate mature rating). So none of the censored content would change the age rating of the game at all if it was included.

I'm just weird because I really enjoy Japanese media the way it is 😉.
