Re: Nintendo Switch 2025 'Year In Review' Is Available Now

Nep-Nep-Freak

Hello again, y'all! I supposedly played a total of 465 hours this year, but that's not counting the July and August time that my thing seemingly skipped over for no reason. Here are my top 3 and their hours:

1 Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: 87 hours
2 Animal Crossing New Horizons: 83 hours
3 The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom: 80 hours (my Switch profile says 110 hours though, so I have no clue what's up with this)

Most played every month:
January: ACNH
February-April: TotK
May-June: Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake
July: it says SSBU, but it's only counting 2 hours from that month even though I played way more than that. I'm assuming DQ3 was most played this month too.
For some reason, August isn't present even though I did play this month. I'm assuming that it was TotK that won this month, since this was the month I beat the game.
September: SSBU
October: Dragon Quest XI
November-December: ACNH

Still confused as to why hardly any of my July and August time is showing up when my console was fully updated at that time but not during December.

Re: LEGO Pokémon Reveals First Sets, Launches February 2026

Nep-Nep-Freak

Wasn't going to get these anyway since I'm too busy to spend any time with the LEGOs I already have, but damn... those prices are high. Let's put this into a bit of perspective: a Switch 2 without a game is 200 dollars cheaper than the Kanto starters one 😅.

Well, hopefully anyone who buys these enjoys them 😀. They do look pretty cool.

Re: Nintendo's President Remains Coy On Potential Prices Increases

Nep-Nep-Freak

I have already accepted that there will never be a price drop for Switch 2, and have never really complained the price of the system either. Heck, I've actually supported the standard $450 price many times in arguments (not necessarily on NL).

But IF the Switch 2 does get a price INCREASE before I manage to get my hands on one...

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (10th January)

Nep-Nep-Freak

Hello again, y'all! This weekend I'm playing:

Switch:
Animal Crossing New Horizons: a few days ago, I paid off MY FINAL HOME LOAN!!! Now I'm starting to save up for the two more from the new update next week 😅.
Tetris 99: I got the theme from the new Maximus Cup yesterday already, but I might play a few more rounds just for kicks this weekend.

PS4:
Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1+: found a great monster for grinding and have been doing a lot of that before taking on a story boss that I lost to a few times, most of my party member characters are now in their mid 50s in terms of level.

Re: PSA: Switch Game Vouchers Won't Be Sold After January 2026

Nep-Nep-Freak

Kind of disappointed that they're going away, I actually got them twice back when I was going completely digital during the years of 2023 and 2024. But in early 2025, I decided to get a mix of digital and physical going forward, with digital being only for some games that I want digital DLC for.

Re: Larian "Would Have Loved" Baldur's Gate 3 On Switch 2, Will "Certainly Consider" Divinity

Nep-Nep-Freak

@FrenchVaniIIuxe, actually, Nintendo allows a lot of different kinds of content in third party games now in these past few years (with many Japanese fanservice games being an exception on the American and European side of things recently, unfortunately 😡). Heck, Cyberpunk 2077 of all things is on the Switch 2. And freaking GTA is on Switch. Their standards are pretty low compared to how they were back in the 80s-early 2010s.

I am pretty sure that BG3 would've released on Switch 2 in time if not for this new squabble between Hasbro and Larian.

Re: Nintendo Download: 8th January (North America)

Nep-Nep-Freak

At least some Idea Factory games are coming out on Switch (I'm talking about Temirana, which does look pretty interesting actually), but I'm still kinda butthurt about the situation with the Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth games 🙁...

Anyway, nothing for me this week.

Re: Poll: Which Call Of Duty Do You Want To See On Switch 2?

Nep-Nep-Freak

How about any of the older entries that came out before they started censoring swear words in online play (it's a freaking rated mature game, I don't get why they felt the need to do this in the more recent games) and made even story mode require internet (which is just in Black Ops 7, thankfully)? Not my kind of series, but I think it would be awesome if some more popular older games came out on Nintendo platforms 😀.

Re: Nintendo Reveals First New Joy-Con 2 Colours For Switch 2

Nep-Nep-Freak

These look nice, but is it just me or is the Switch 2 controllers in general just really... black? I don't really have any issue with it, it's just kind of confusing why the full red, full blue, full green, full pink, etc. of the Switch 1 generation became just black with small bits of other colors.

Re: Nintendo Switch's Hulu App Will Be Discontinued Next Month

Nep-Nep-Freak

Even though I don't like almost everything about streaming services these days, I still have fond memories of watching cartoons on Hulu as a young child. It's kind of crazy knowing that Hulu will just... no longer exist anymore, as of this year. Another part of my childhood just... gone. Alright, I need to stop doing this before I feel like an old man.

Re: Suika Game Planet Now Available On US eShop For Switch 1 & 2

Nep-Nep-Freak

@MisterStu, to answer your question about why the Switch 2 version needs to exist, it's because the Switch 1 version can't support Gameshare. If you pay the extra 75 cents, you get Gameshare. And if you don't want Gameshare, you can just get the Switch 1 version on the Switch 2, thanks to backwards compatibility.

It's actually very nice. If you want Gameshare, you pay just a bit more. For anyone who doesn't need Gameshare, there is a cheaper option.

Re: Suika Game Planet Now Available On US eShop For Switch 1 & 2

Nep-Nep-Freak

Looks pretty interesting! Been kind of interested in trying out the original sometime, but I'm already busy with other games so I haven't yet. Nor have I purchased it. And maybe I never will. But still, hopefully anyone who plays this one enjoys it! Cool that it supports Gameshare too. Maybe I'll just buy this one, sometime after I get my Switch 2, so some of my members could play it with me through Gameshare 🥰. Definititely something to think about.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (3rd January)

Nep-Nep-Freak

Hello again, y'all! This weekend I'm playing:

Switch:
Animal Crossing New Horizons: just selling more crops to obtain bells to pay for house storage upgrades.
PS4:
Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1+: I'm already on Chapter 3 in the game, and the main character, Neptune, has been poisoned by a bad guy and is out of action right now, but a different goddess character named Vert has taken her place, and I'm searching a new dungeon called Marabuco Forest to defeat a specific monster with an antidote that will help cure Neptune. All of my party members are now in their late 20s in terms of level.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (27th December)

Nep-Nep-Freak

Hello again, y'all! This weekend I'm playing:

Switch:
Animal Crossing New Horizons: I'm halfway there to being able to afford the (currently) final house storage upgrade. Will also participate in the New Year's countdown just like the last two years.
PS4:
Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1+: got this game as a Christmas present two days ago, and have been playing it and loving it. Most of my party members are around Level 10 and I already have access to two of the cities: Planeptune and Lastation.

Re: Mailbox: 'Greedy' Nintendo, New Horizons Vs. New Leaf, Boney M. - Nintendo Life Letters (Holiday Edition)

Nep-Nep-Freak

Thanks for the great letters like usual, y'all!

As for my answer to @beltmenot 's letter, I personally think New Horizons is the best Animal Crossing. Just so much fun there. I actually liked being able to craft, as well as buy, items (and when multi-crafting will be available starting next month, it will be even better). I actually liked that I could put the game on hiatus for several months without major consequences, since I like enjoying other games too. Maybe I'm a bit biased since ACNH is my first Animal Crossing, but it really is my favorite in the series.

Re: Switch Online App On Switch And Switch 2 Adds "Happy Holidays" Theme

Nep-Nep-Freak

@CaleBoi25,

Just update paranoia that has been slowly getting worse for a while now because of situations like Nintendo changing the icon for physical cartridges and I'm not used to it, and the Samsung Galaxy One UI 7 update that my phone got a few months ago that changed up the look of a lot of things when it was completely fine and familiar before, and I wish I had the option to go back. So even updates that I know are just for bug fixes, I never intentionally update anymore just because of update paranoia.

At least I won't have to deal with it for long hopefully, since once I get my Switch 2 (hopefully early next year) I can transfer everything over to there and factory reset my original Switch and turn it into a completely offline console without any update prompts. And then maybe mod my Switch a little bit so I can lower the system version to before 20.0.0, so all of the 2025 features that I'm still not used to seeing on my Switch 1 can disappear and everything new can just be on the new console instead.

This is all a part of my "Louisiana Purchase: Nintendo Edition", which involved me spending months of constantly thinking about what to do with whether I'm getting a Switch 2 or not, and how much I want to continue supporting Nintendo when they are doing things like canceling third party Japanese game releases that I'm interested in (which makes me not want to give Nintendo of America a ton of money at the moment). I decided that I would only get a Switch 2 if I factory reset my Switch 1 afterward, so that I would have at least one console that is not reliant on the Nintendo Account system, just in case. It's all a part of my plan for the Switch 2 life cycle.

I know that not downloading one bug fix update won't really help make modding the system version lower any easier, but again, my update paranoia does come into play too.

My apologies for the wall of text 😅.

Re: Talking Point: Does It Bother You That Big Games Companies Are Using GenAI?

Nep-Nep-Freak

I don't mind AI a whole lot (it's definitely not my favorite thing in the world, nor my least favorite thing either), but I know there are some people that do, in everything from games to web browsers. Thankfully, as long as things that use AI and things that don't use AI both continue to exist, then there will be plenty of different options for everyone to choose from and everyone should be happy. Right?

Right?
