Re: Talking Point: When Did 'Good Enough' Become Good Enough For Pokémon?

Nep-Nep-Freak

For me, the Pokémon series has never just been "good enough", I genuinely love all the mainline games that I've played, especially during the Switch generation. Heck, Violet has been my favorite video game of all time since 2023. It may not have the best visuals of all time, but man, it is just so freaking fun to play.

I'm honestly disappointed that the "new Gen every three years" thing is ending. Ever since I really got into Pokémon during the early days of Gen 7, back when I first watched the Indigo League anime and played my mom's copy of Blue on the Game Boy Color. Ever since then, I've always looked forward to the new Gen every three years. Yes, I understand that incorporating better visuals and maker bigger games and all that jazz means longer development time, and based on leaks, Game Freak is definitely going to start making bigger Pokémon games going forward. I'll just miss having a new Gen every three years 😢.

Also, even though Pokémon is my favorite franchise, I do think that there is room for other Pokémon-like games to exist as well. Including Palworld: ever since the Palworld lawsuit began, I've had the belief that it is just dumb and shouldn't have happened in the first place.

Re: Review: Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake (Switch 2) - Rounds Out The Erdrick Trilogy In Style

Nep-Nep-Freak

I love that these remakes for DQ 1 and 2 are good, I will have to pass on them because I'm busy with other games, but I did enjoy DQ 3 Remake and I'm happy for anyone who does get to play this game.

And about potential changes that censor the game, if there are any like what supposedly happened with 3, that's disappointing to say the least 😢, I hate it when stuff like that happens. But still, even with potential stupid changes and though the Switch 2 "physical" is a Game Key Card, I do hope that people find some enjoyment with these games.

Re: EA Staff Are Reportedly Less Than Happy With Their Much-Hyped AI "Helpers"

Nep-Nep-Freak

Why exactly was my comment removed? Also the comment of the person who replied to me, I don't see why that one had to go.

"Unconstructive feedback"?

I was simply stating a different point of view and not belittling anyone in the process. I was not calling anyone a mean name. I was simply stating an opinion that's not popular according to what I see in these comments and then left peacefully. If it's because I was talking about getting clicks, other people have talked about that kind of thing in other articles on this site, and their comments aren't often removed.

I'm not trying to belittle or be mean to anyone, I'm just really curious.

Re: Opinion: One Year On, Every Positive 'Pokémon TCG Pocket' Update Still Comes With A Catch

Nep-Nep-Freak

I gave it an 8/10 and played it for almost a whole year starting on launch day before finally uninstalling earlier this month because I'm busy with other things.

The game did have some pretty painful design decisions (for example, the aforementioned cards from the first anniversary EX pack not corresponding with the same cards from previous sets), but overall, I still had fun with it and may return to it someday several years from now if it still exists, since my Nintendo Account is still connected to it.

Re: Best Pokémon Games Of All Time

Nep-Nep-Freak

I'm surprised to see Z-A at the bottom of the list, especially with how much people complained about Scarlet and Violet a few years back 🤣.

As a massive Pokémon fan, I would rate just about every single game on this list (the Switch ones in particular) a lot higher.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (25th October)

Nep-Nep-Freak

Hello again, y'all! I have an announcement to make. I finally have my PlayStation 4 console (with only one game from my local library so far, but I'll definitely buy and play more over the coming years, assuming the thing doesn't go dead on me like my 2DS did 😢). So going forward, I will specify which platform I play any games on, and if I'm not playing anything on a platform on a specific weekend, below that platform's name, there will be a "Nothing this week" message. Anyway... this weekend I'm playing:

Switch:
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: slightly fewer than 20 spirits to go (all of them but one involve summoning, the other enhancing), so I should have a complete spirit list by the end of the year.
Animal Crossing New Horizons: I convinced myself to temporarily return to this game to check out my new fruit trees I planted several months ago 🤣 and to finish donating to all the Lloids at Harv's island that have been waiting for over two years that my island save has existed. I've already finished donating to... uh... one of them... 🤣. Thankfully, I make a ton of money from selling crops every three days, so it won't take too long.
Super Mario Maker 2: I'll be uploading a new course today, probably somewhat soon after I post this comment.
PS4:
Super Neptunia RPG: I've already played this one for a few hours and am massively enjoying it. All of my party members (Neptune, Noire, Blank) are slightly above Level 10 and I'm currently heading toward the country of Lowee to find an archive of books in search of one of the seven tomes. Current number of trophies: 6
Mobile:

Re: EA Is Diving Headfirst Into Generative AI With New Partnership

Nep-Nep-Freak

As I've said in previous articles about AI in video game development, as long as it's used to just do things like generate ground to make game development cheaper and faster, I don't mind that. If they start using AI for things like character dialogue, I'll probably be concerned, though.

And if a AAA game was ever entirely made out of AI one day, I think that anyone who wants to play it should get to play it (assuming they pay for it), instead of it being obliterated by governments or whatever, because every game deserves a chance unless it's using a copyrighted name.

Obviously, if anyone wants to boycott a game that had AI use in development, go for it.

Re: Donkey Kong Bananza's First DLC In-Game Event Kicks Off Next Week

Nep-Nep-Freak

Uhh... these are limited time? Good grief... I'm really not a fan of games pulling stunts like that (for example, the Kalos starter Mega Stones in Legends Z-A, but at least those are supposedly returning at some point). That's why Splatoon 3 is a "meh" game to me and my least favorite Splatoon game, based on all of the footage of it that I've seen.

I don't really like being a Negative Nancy, but I prefer all of the content in my games to always be available. At least this is something new for DK Bananza players to enjoy 😃.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (18th October)

Nep-Nep-Freak

Apologies for the delay in this comment, I just recently got back from a troup campout that started yesterday afternoon. Anyway, hello again, y'all! This weekend I'm playing:
Dragon Quest XI S Echoes of an Elusive Age Definitive Edition: I moved forward in the story and found out what happens when you arrive at Yggdrasil. I won't spoil anything about what happened, but... I decided to not move forward with the story and grind a few more levels first 🤣, so I reverted to a previous save right before that part of the story and I'm grinding some levels in the First Forest area before moving on.
Super Mario Maker 2: I recently uploaded another new level, and as long as things go as planned, I should be uploading a new level almost every week until the end of December 2025.
Pokémon Violet: to celebrate the upcoming release of Pokémon Legends Z-A, I returned to my favorite game of all time the day before Z-A released. All I did was take a short joyride on Miraidon across a chunk of the Paldea Region and collect some items, but it was fun returning to the game, which I wanted to do briefly since I'm not getting Z-A until next spring. Maybe I'll play it a bit more if I have the time to do so.

Re: Japanese Charts: Little Nightmares III Makes A Respectable Debut

Nep-Nep-Freak

Nice to see Digimon Time Stranger selling pretty well! That one does look interesting, it's unfortunate that I don't have a device that can play it yet (though I am looking into PC gaming a little bit, probably won't really look into it for several years though).

Also... calling it now: Pokémon Legends Z-A in the number 1 spot next week.
