Re: "That's Some Real Coward S***" - Hideki Kamiya Discusses The Fallout From The Bayonetta 3 Voiceover Controversy

Mariotag

@Fyrus92
Honestly agreed.
I find it disturbing.

No hate to the new guy, but Charles Martinet had stated he would voice the character until he no longer could.

Idk if he really couldn't anymore, or if he really just decided to give someone new a chance in the spotlight, or, my own suspicion, Nintendo just axed him cause of some stupid reason to do with them "as a business".

I genuinely hate the evolution that happened after Iwata stopped pressing B.

Re: Talking Point: One Month On, How Did Nintendo's Switch 2 Launch Go?

Mariotag

Honestly don't feel like my impression is represented in the voting thing.

Nintendo was prideful enough to go greed.
This whole launch reeked of Nintendo not especially considering their consumers, and solely being a business that wants to make as much as possible.

I cannot say much, if anything better about the others of the big 3. If anything, they need a wake up call.

This launch was a mess. I understand some of their more decent motives, ala scalpers, hackers, and leakers, but those ppl are largely just part of the world, impossible to stop entirely.

Also, I gather the switch 2 dock makes the system overheat, is poorly designed in regards to ventilation, and even worse if you use an ethernet cable?

Re: PSA: Pokémon YouTube Channel Uploads The First Movie For A "Limited-Time"

Mariotag

@Arawn93
It's funny. I remember way back when, while I was terrified of the first movie, I saw the second one twice, and the third once. (In theaters ofc) I missed out on theater releases of 4 and 5, only finding out about them in Nintendo Power too late.

There was a gag Team Rocket kiss in the first Sabrina episode as technically Ash's first, but Melody (I think that was her name) gave the first romantic kiss. To be followed later by Latias.

I'm honestly still upset that nothing came of Misty, as apparently, aside from the obvious, there were ads in Japan suggesting the first movie was to be the end, showing an adult Ash and Misty together.

Also, the first movie has different implications in the Japanese version, as Mew is notably more antagonistic to Mewtwo, while Mewtwo has less expressly evil motives.

Re: Mario's Voice Actor Says It's "Unbelievable" To Hear His Voice In Mario Kart World

Mariotag

@N00BiSH
Honestly, fair. I still remember the insanity from when the dub cast for the Pokemon anime was replaced, though that wasn't the aspect I grasped at the time.
Back then, it was a greedy, unfair move, replacing talented voices with people who genuinely grated on my nerves, even if they became the definitive voices, and deserved recognition for it, and the original soundtrack was replaced with stock sounds, with the show itself moved from free TV to paid only.
The OG VAs were not kept in the loop, nor were they asked.

Kevin Afghani's Mario voice is nowhere near as atrocious as the dubbing jobs on that era of Pokemon, which, even now, I struggle to sit through an episode of B&W. But it is worth recognizing that it is different while trying to be the same.

I'll give him his due respect, but it'll be Charles Martinet up there as a definitive Mario, alongside Lou Albano, and idk if there was anyone else.

Re: Best Rune Factory Games Of All Time

Meanwhile, I just know it as that life sim series that caught my intrigue cause I saw a character with kitsune ears advertised at some point. No idea which game, or if I'd like any of them.

Re: Random: It Turns Out That AI Isn't Very Good At Pokémon Red

Mariotag

This is genuinely hilarious.
As a little kid, playing Yellow version, with the one starter that can effectively do next to nothing against Brock, (Tackle exists) I still found a way past him. Dunno if it took 80 hours either.
I do recall being confused by some ingame textures too...

Either way, "smartest new AI around"? Don't make me laugh!
Even if hard, it is simple as a game!

Re: Feature: Farewell, Nintendo Switch - It's Finally Time To Bid Our Old Friend 'Adieu'

Mariotag

Alana Hagues, I had the opposite issue of yours.

I was enjoying my Wii U, but was so angry about how Nintendo was moving forward. Nice new system, but it ditched so many of the bells and whistles that Wii U had, while trying to steal its lineup as the OG Switch launch lineup.
I'd figured it was prideful Nintendo wanting absolutely nothing to do with Wii U itself, to the extreme of not only erasing its existence, and ripping off fans of the console, but also to the point of sabotaging the new gen.
Part of it was my lack of funds too...

I ultimately got mine a bit later that year.

Re: Fortnite Devs Hit With Unfair Labour Practice Filing Following AI Darth Vader Fiasco

Mariotag

Honestly? I'm unsure who to side with here.
AI is a scummy practice the way it's prominently used now.
VAs deserve their jobs...mostly. There are a few VAs who've been scummy too. In that sense, this lawsuit winning would be something of a win for VAs in general. Plus, it'd help cement Fortnite getting what they were legit on their hands and knees begging for by introducing that to public audiences, notably including immature kids.
On the other side of the coin though, if the late great OG Vader himself signed this, especially if to benefit his family, it seems like a rare legit case of AI usage being okay. Plus it'd be utterly hilarious to experience Vader in Fortnite. I hear he actually calls players by their IRL names if you rile him up enough?

Re: GameStop To Offer Additional Switch 2 Units In-Store And Online At Launch

Mariotag

Nice of them to offer.
Not so nice that their site will probably be randomly cancelling orders again because of a total crash.
I lost out on a massive deal because the order was randomly cancelled by the presumably overloaded database, and I was told I put in wrong information, in spite of it being the same as other successful orders, and customer service was not even allowed to parrot the info I provided that was "wrong" back to me. Because apparently, the employees do not have enough freedom to do their jobs.

Re: Nintendo Predicted To Become "Primary Partner For Third-Party Game Publishers"

Mariotag

Eh. I'm still unsure how Nintendo's next gen will play out.
They've tossed caution to the wind, and heavily cut down the "accessibility" part of the holy trinity to success.
On top of this, to combat piracy, they threw caution to the winds there with the new terms of service here. Imagining the kids when they excitedly put a game their parents bought second hand into their system, only for it to turn out to be a bootleg, breaking the ToS, and bricking their system... Honestly, that'll probably just turn more ppl to the dark side than anything else.
