Re: Fortnite Devs Hit With Unfair Labour Practice Filing Following AI Darth Vader Fiasco

Mariotag

Honestly? I'm unsure who to side with here.
AI is a scummy practice the way it's prominently used now.
VAs deserve their jobs...mostly. There are a few VAs who've been scummy too. In that sense, this lawsuit winning would be something of a win for VAs in general. Plus, it'd help cement Fortnite getting what they were legit on their hands and knees begging for by introducing that to public audiences, notably including immature kids.
On the other side of the coin though, if the late great OG Vader himself signed this, especially if to benefit his family, it seems like a rare legit case of AI usage being okay. Plus it'd be utterly hilarious to experience Vader in Fortnite. I hear he actually calls players by their IRL names if you rile him up enough?

Re: GameStop To Offer Additional Switch 2 Units In-Store And Online At Launch

Mariotag

Nice of them to offer.
Not so nice that their site will probably be randomly cancelling orders again because of a total crash.
I lost out on a massive deal because the order was randomly cancelled by the presumably overloaded database, and I was told I put in wrong information, in spite of it being the same as other successful orders, and customer service was not even allowed to parrot the info I provided that was "wrong" back to me. Because apparently, the employees do not have enough freedom to do their jobs.

Re: Nintendo Predicted To Become "Primary Partner For Third-Party Game Publishers"

Mariotag

Eh. I'm still unsure how Nintendo's next gen will play out.
They've tossed caution to the wind, and heavily cut down the "accessibility" part of the holy trinity to success.
On top of this, to combat piracy, they threw caution to the winds there with the new terms of service here. Imagining the kids when they excitedly put a game their parents bought second hand into their system, only for it to turn out to be a bootleg, breaking the ToS, and bricking their system... Honestly, that'll probably just turn more ppl to the dark side than anything else.

Re: Fortnite Turns To The Dark Side With AI Darth Vader Voice, And Of Course It's Been Swearing

Mariotag

Welp, you reap what you sow, Epic and Disney. This is so fittingly hilarious because imo, they deserve this kind of reaction for making such a move to begin with.

@Jhena Yes. Though, uh, I would fear for the multiverse's safety if that were to actually happen. Fan of Digimon. Just gotta finish Xros Wars final season, X-Evolution, and any non Adventure movies. Then Beatbreak comes out later this year.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Mario Party 3

Mariotag

Japan's was like, here's everything from the others and more.

Also, yes Waluigi, but no, there is misinformation in there. Part of what drew me into Mario Party to begin with was the "Single player campaign" in the very first game. Mini game island. Sadly, said campaigns were dropped after 7.

Re: Best Super Monkey Ball Games Of All Time

Mariotag

@MirrorFate2
Very late reply, but seeing as the one I'm playing most recently is the HD remake, and the stage I'm stuck on is 10-5...
Uh. How do I put this? The idea of boss fights in Monkey Ball...is a disaster imo.

On another couple notes, I did start with 2, loved it in spite of blatantly unfair stage design. (Someone get ProtonJon/Claire to try Switch Inferno with no help at all. They'll rage so hard.)
Rumble's multiplayer is hated, but I did notice the minigames were picked specifically to be ones that're all action with no turn taking. That's probably the reason. And I've not the faintest idea why Monkey Target is a fan fave.

Re: PSA: Redownloading Switch eShop Games Has Now Changed With Latest Update

Mariotag

Welp, roughly a day into the new update, I've already found a Nintendo-breaking loophole.

Of the games I've purchased off the eshop, there was one I successfully got refunded. And it's sitting there waiting to be redownloaded. Clearly, these companies all suck at DRM.
Gonna call them when I get up. No way it's anything other than an oversight. After all, Super Mario 35 ain't on the list, but I have it downloaded.

Re: Grant Kirkhope Apparently Got A Bananas Reason For His Missing Mario Movie Credit

Mariotag

@Suketoudara
Am impression I got based on how they progressed. Naturally, Wii U lost support. Online was shut down.
The games that were popular, and not something like Smash, where each game is unique, made the jump as Deluxe editions for full price. Absolutely nothing to tide over loyal customers who'd be buying everything again, where they had previously had campaigns for things like that. (3ds Ambassador program)
The big deal additions Wii U had were explicitly gone. Voice chat went from built in, to a convoluted mess of cables system and smartphone. Video chat was nowhere. Adding friends by username was actually reverted to friend codes.
To me, it was a major sleight. One they seem to be repeating an aspect of here with "Switch 2 Edition" games.

Re: Talking Point: Which Nintendo Series Are You Most Excited To See Return On Switch 2?

Mariotag

Looking at the list, the obvious choices are there. Mario Kart, Party, RPG, Metroid, Fire Emblem, Pokemon... The list of existing franchises goes on.

Personally, I want to reach outside the box.
I voted Wario Platformer, buuut...
As someone said prior, Golden Sun. F-Zero would be a neat return, but it really should start to use elements from Captain Falcon's career as a bounty hunter. There's your spark Nintendo!
Starfox would be welcome too.

Although I'd still get it, I'm not a fan of the direction Zelda is going in. While to the contrary, following Legends Arceus, Pokemon has started to improve again.

Re: Talking Point: Where Should 'Luigi's Mansion 4' Take Place?

Mariotag

Imo, Isle Delfino, with a cruise ship opening area would be good.
As would a Bowser's Castle scenario.
Space would be great as well, but I'm unsure how that would work, considering it would be the space of Mario's world.
Village is also enticing.

Ultimately, Luigi's Mansion, for me, was at its best with atmospheric isolation and a sense of dread. The first entry nailed it far better than either successor, though 3 came close with some floors.
So I don't want it too cheesy. But cheese itself can still play a role.
But I've my doubts Nintendo would do something so wonderful again.

Re: Community: 38 Switch Games We Missed, As Recommended By You

Mariotag

@Princess_Lilly
I enjoy it a decent bit. I watched Inuyasha, greatly enjoying it. Then Touhou, and eventually became obsessed with kitsune.
Seeing there being a fox person playable, and a mention of folklore is almost enough to make me go get it on the spot. Alas, not enough funds for everything.

Re: Every Nintendo Switch 2 Game-Key Card Release

Mariotag

@premko1
That aspect is good, yes. But the premise is essentially just Sony/Microsoft physical.
You get your disc from the store, put it in, and the console spends lord only knows how long installing the game from disc, then downloading every bit of the data from the console's online store. For me, it can take days to download.
It's scummy practice that Nintendo just decided to open up to devs on their end as well.

Re: Feature: 27 GameCube Games We'd Love To See On Nintendo Switch 2 NSO

Mariotag

Honestly, there are far too many musts here to simply pick three.
So I went with the two obvious multiplayer games, (Melee cause of the degree to which it is excellent, and Four Sword Adventures, cause really, who had four GBAs with link cables to match?) and Kirby Air Ride cause it's getting a sequel.
Otherwise, there are so, soooo many I'd pick. The classy, the classics, and the too expensive, with honorable mentions to the few online games the console had.
