Re: Feature: The Tightest, Briskest Mario & Luigi Game Turns 20 Today And Deserves More Love

Mariotag

Didn't know there were softlocks.

Anyway, I really appreciate this game.

I sorta feel Broship s a different enough style to be its own thing, and that both 3ds games went the collectible/perfectionist route, so this is still in the top three for me.
The darker tone was impressive. The whole Yoob chapter, coupled with an article gave me an impression on Yoshis that I won't soon forget.

Re: Site News: Nintendo Life Turns 20 Today!

Hmm. Interesting. So I wasn't here from near the start after all?

I thought the origin point was "Virtual Console Reviews" from back in Wii era.
I would use it to help determine which VC games to get, and see what was coming up.

Re: Talking Point: Smashing Switch 2 Numbers Prove Nintendo's Strategy Is Super Effective

Mariotag

I'm kinda still surprised but not completely.

They actually made a whole thing of this, in an uno reverse of Wii U. Nintendo is a brand, and switch is a brand in particular that has potentially multiple units per household. Goes without saying that not everyone will know the controversy, and consoles and games will be snapped up.

But by paying for success with the trust of others, in a sense, how will the momentum fare I wonder?

Re: Feature: The Art I 'Stole' From Nintendo

Mariotag

These are genuinely amazing! Granted, I came in a couple years late to the gaming fold, but, never actually got to send anything in...nor am I an artist.

I'm impressed anybody knew about FE Genealogy back then. The Chrono Trigger pieces are amazing, as per the game itself.
The Mario and Yoshi art could have inspired stories of their own!

Re: Sakurai Has No Plans For Kirby Air Riders DLC: "Everything Is Here"

Mariotag

@LazyDaisy
This is a massive agree. I like Smash, though the dlc has ironically taken some shine off it.. But Uprising was peak. And I find myself wondering if Sakurai did the OG Air Riders, cause if he didn't, that might explain it having not lived up to ppl's expectations.

On another note, I am glad this is a complete package. I'll not get it at launch though.
Am curious where else Sakurai could go.

Re: Sonic Team's Boss Wants To Put More Sonic Characters In The Spotlight

Mariotag

I'm hopeful they could bring back a bunch of the rarer sighted characters too.

Been kinda hyped after seeing a couple SatAM revival projects, but that would not work with main universe.

Also can't help but note, 2d era had 4 main playable characters, the aforementioned Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and eventually Amy.

GBA games had an era where Cream was a fifth, but Superstars filled her long missing role with someone else.

Wonder if they could get a spotlight?

Re: Feature: From Z To A — Honouring My Favourite Pokémon, One Letter At A Time

Mariotag

Wow. This list is so relatable in so many places.

While we have our differences (I was never sociable enough back then to actually have playground talk, but heard of Pikablu all the same), I actually have a bunch of these on my list as Pokemon I like/appreciate, notable differences being that I always picked fire (not the Japanese name for Moltres, but the starter), and that I could never afford the Switch Pokemon DLC.

Re: Nintendo Of America Reportedly Cuts Loose Customer Service Contractors As It Looks To Outsource

Mariotag

Greedy greedy greedy, it's the name of the show.
Greedy greedy greedy, they've got wallets y'know?

Yeah. Just feels like another prideful and greedy step to mirror some of the other stuff they've done lately.

Last betrayal of this nature I remember though, was when the Pokemon anime was taken from 4kids, prob for good reason, and they decided they wouldn't spend a cent more than they had to for the dub.. I didn't notice it at the time, but the OG VAs weren't the only ones shafted...

Hope the contractors find good work.
