Re: Random: Sega Surprises Sonic The Hedgehog Fans With Official Timeline

Mariotag

Huh. Well, I've yet to get the timeline page translated unfortunately. There are definitely a few things I'd want acknowledged by Sega, even if not canon. I did not know the Rivals games weren't canon, which is interesting.
It'll be interesting to see how some of this fits, as well as what Sonic's world officially ends up being.

Re: Opinion: We'll Never Get A Final Boss As Good As Pokémon Legends: Arceus Again

Mariotag

It's been a bit too long since I finished this one. Backlog awaits though!
There's no chance the next Legends game will have the same theme. But it does bring the series a massive step closer to what I wanted back in 1999.
As for Arceus being God, there's no chance he's displaying his full power. The Arceus you get is a mere fraction of him for one, and for another, the fight with him is more of a trial.

Re: Chrono Trigger To Celebrate 30th Anniversary With "Various Projects"

Mariotag

"Beyond the world of the original game". So uh, another Chrono Cross? A pachinko machine? Another sequel? No telling I guess.
As for remake or port material, yeah, having it available would be neat, DS additions and all. I also liked Radiant Historia, as well as a number of others.
Hopefully it won't be getting the FF7R treatment....

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - River King: Mystic Valley (DS)

Mariotag

This pick is so hilariously lopsided, I'm genuinely tempted to be the troll and vote for the European art. It does at least get the fishing part right!
But nah. The larger roster of characters in the others genuinely intrigues me. If this were like, an enjoyable RPG or something, I'd be tempted to pick it up to find out about the world, as well as who and what those characters are.
Like, is the fox eared person in all three arts a kitsune?

Re: Best Wario Games Of All Time

Mariotag

Huh. This list is an interesting one to have as user voted. Not every day you see one with a VB game on it.

Personally, I liked Wario Land 2 better than 3 because of its unique story based branching paths. Shake It is one I still need to finish. Or perhaps start fresh.
I still want a copy of Wario World, and I'm still furious at myself for thinking I was being asked if I wanted a $70 something VB instead of the roughly $19 it actually was.
I could have played them all by now if not for that.

Re: Poll: 10 Years On, Which Version Of Zelda: Majora's Mask Is Best?

Mariotag

Honestly, imo, the N64 version gets the win on account of both the OG rustic feel, and more importantly, the difference in physics.
It's much harder in the 3ds version to do hops as a Deku, and the Zora swimming is pretty different. For all the significant improvements the 3ds version made, changing that which did not need be changed from the OG absolutely brought the experience down.

Re: Rocksteady Reportedly Working On A New Batman After Suicide Squad Disaster

Mariotag

@DollyrotsFan1 I dunno who Lady Shiva is. Also, worth mentioning is that I'm pretty sure that where Origins sets up Harley Quinn, Asylum is her actual first role as a villain, cause she seemed to be staff immediately before the game, with her taking over security being her big betrayal.
I'd love to see a bigger, better Gotham. But the big name villains aren't particularly there. Maybe a game leading up to Joker's capture at the start of Asylum?
Either way, if Rocksteady is out of it now, then I have little faith.

Re: Nintendo Music Adds Golden Sun Soundtrack, Here's Every Song Included

Mariotag

Alright! Mayhap there be hope for a Golden Sun 4 yet! (Insert deluded fan of a probably dead franchise here)
Yeah, I know Dark Dawn wasn't the best, or best received, but as a game that came late in the DS life cycle, as well as being a sort of experiment... They can absolutely redeem themselves. Bare minimum, a remaster of the existing games.
To leave this series off how they did was just cruel, especially since an interview referred to the first two games as "the prologue to the main event".

Re: Talking Point: Where Should 'Luigi's Mansion 4' Take Place?

Mariotag

@N00BiSH Not even implied. In the first game, the fortuneteller, I think called Madam Clairvoya, explicitly states "Bowser has been defeated", as well as showing signs of shock occasionally with a reaction like he should not be here. This is not possible. meaning the final battle actually does make it look like you're fighting Bowser's corpse.

Re: Talking Point: Where Should 'Luigi's Mansion 4' Take Place?

Mariotag

Huh. Reading this is a bit weird tbh. Aside from the way LM1 established it's set in an era where Bowser has already been defeated, it is worth mentioning that the atmosphere actually has the original up above both sequels imo. In 2 and 3, you don't really get the vibe that the first game gives you. Only a couple floors in 3 managed that.
Having said that, an abandoned Bowser's Castle would be neat. Cruise ship for the isolation, village removed from society.
LM1 did well in part cause Nintendo wasn't afraid to really push it.

Re: Opinion: Miiverse Was Fine, But Does Anybody Really Want It Back In 2025?

Mariotag

"These days it's hard to see anything but two choices: stick your head in the sand, blanking and blocking anything negative in the name of self-preservation (and at the risk of appearing frivolous or ignorant); alternatively, get involved in the daily discourse, which inevitably devolves into knee-jerk snark, ill-informed takes, accusations and awfulness."
Yup. Sounds about right. Increased media and chatter has also reduced ppl's ability to interact about it civilly imo.

As for Miiverse itself, I enjoyed the first few years of my time there. Yes, artists were a big deal. But there were also chatrooms, and more importantly, you could always ask a question about a game and get a proper answer, or just post a funny. I actually ended up making the start of a sort of fanfic out of grinding Smash.
As for that pic, uhh, Pika doesn't look hot from that angle. If It were like, Charizard, or Incineroar though, I could see it.

Re: Opinion: We Need More Couch Co-op RPGs

Mariotag

Huh. Neat! Honestly though, Tales games weren't my go-to for multiplayer. The fact multiplayer only occurs in battle was a detriment.
As for Arise, I hear it was originally intended to be a different IP, so multiplayer Tales could easily return.

Re: PlatinumGames Wipes Several Games From Its Website's Portfolio

Mariotag

Huh. I got SF Zero relatively recently. It's been in my Wii U for a bit now, waiting for me to start. But have been swamped with games, so it might be a bit longer.
Interestingly enough, I'm just a couple chapters into Revengeance as well.

I remember seeing MadWorld around. I can't figure on why they'd remove these games.

Anyway, for me, another reminder of the tragedy that was Wii U not having enough marketing effort put behind it for it to gain as much traction as it should have. (Among other things)

Re: Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble Update Adds Among Us DLC

Mariotag

Having said that, as a completionist sort of gamer. Uhh. The adventure missions... They kinda reach the point where they, if not the normal ones, then absolutely the expert ones, reek of I need a guide type of bs. Kinda like the stages themselves could get in Super Monkey Ball 2... (Remember that one with all the switches? Iirc, 6-something or another. I've been curious for a while now how a vet like ProtonJon might pull that level off without a guide...)

Re: Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble Update Adds Among Us DLC

Mariotag

@mlt
Uh. So, in Euros, the game DLC basically costs the same as it does in dollars?

Anyway, having been playing the game, I respectfully disagree with the notion the battle minigames are bad.
I don't know about all multiplayer. Never played multi adventure. At the same time, as of yet, I do not know if you can pick a minigame when playing with friends/family.
But the minigames themselves? They don't have as much variety as in older games, but, I can clearly tell the reason is because they didn't want to leave anyone waiting. Every minigame is action focused. That doesn't make it bad.

Re: PSA: Trading Is Finally Live In Pokémon TCG Pocket, But It's A Real Headache

Mariotag

Oh jeez. This is messed up. Though I do appreciate the fact you don't have to go out to collect cards, or pay a hefty sum. It's a shame, I keep getting the special arts for some cards I want the normal variants for, and normal for ones I want special art for. In excess. Was hoping to be able to trade some of my extra EX cards and the like for what I'm missing.

Also, did not know about the PoGo to PoHome issue. Makes me glad I never got super into that. Though I may someday try to get my gen 6 teams to modern gen, if possible.
