Re: Poll: What Did You Think Of Tricolor Turf War In Splatoon 3?

Mamabear

I wish the “defending” team was random instead of only the leading team at halftime. I played later in the night (team paper) and defending/ attacking team wins were pretty balanced. I wish there was more instruction in the 3-way battles… I still don’t know what I was doing.

Re: Talking Point: Should We Still Be Pre-Ordering Games?

Mamabear

I only preorder Nintendo games I know I’ll be playing- Zelda, Kirby, Splatoon, etc. If I’m unsure about it I’ll wait. Generally speaking Nintendo games seem to resist steep sales and/or take a long while to get a steep sale. I thought about preordering Guardians of the Galaxy ( Xbox) but decided to wait until Black Friday. I did end up buying 1/2 price then only a few months after release.

Re: Mini Review: Twelve Minutes - A Tedious Time Loop That Squanders Its Potential

Mamabear

Agreed. Probably my least favorite game I played this past year which for me was very disappointing since I really thought the concept was exciting. My complaints are: controls felt clunky, a lot of actions/ reactions didn’t seem to be the most logical or felt unimportant in the grand scheme of things, many times I felt incredibly rushed to perform actions/ dialogue that may change the story in meaningful ways ( this may or may not be a direct result of clunky controls). Once the “twist” was revealed it was a major cringe for me and I thought it severely limited the scope of the story. This made the second half of the story tedious to get through. Then the ending… it was just a bad ending that cheapened the entire experience and I’m not sure what the point was. This could have been so cool. Now every time I think of this game I get mad all over again. I played this game via Gamepass so I’m glad I only invested time and not additional money but it’s still time I could’ve played something else.

Re: Nintendo Switch Transfer - How To Transfer All Saves, Games, Profiles, And User Data To Another Switch (OLED, Lite, Regular)

Mamabear

@riChchestM are you trying to share games between Switches? If you are Make your old switch ( the one your daughter is using) your primary switch. Then add your Nintendo account to your new switch. If you set it up like this you can share the games that YOUR account has purchased and both play them simultaneously. The caveat is that you have to be online to play any digital game on the Switch you will be using ( not the primary).

Re: Get Up To 70% Off On Select Bethesda Titles During QuakeCon 2021 (North America)

Mamabear

@PizzaCat No. It’s actually a pretty good game IMO. I don’t know if you played other titles in the series but the levels/areas are less diverse than the other 2 main games mostly because the story takes place on a much smaller setting. Makes for a lot of traversing through the same areas which can be unfortunate. I did like the “ leveling up” aspect and skills that were introduced. I think $5 is a steal if you’ve been interested in the game. I mostly played by myself( with AI) and can attest that sometimes they’re dumb but I always had more problems playing online with random people.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (May 1st)

Mamabear

I’ve been trying to find a groove in Horace.. There are things that I like- the platforming is okay but the story is kinda bogging my experience down. I’ll stick it out maybe a bit more but with so many other game choices I’m not sure how much more I’ll put into it.

On another note I’ll be picking up my copy of Pokémon Snap which I’m actually pretty excited about!

Also playing Journey to the Savage Planet still on Xbox- game is pretty fun but I’m having a hard time getting all these collectibles.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (April 16th)

Mamabear

So the wife and I have played Cat Mario enough that the only levels we have left are in crown world- the Star level and Champions Road. After playing over an hour and a half trying to get somewhere in those levels we’re at an impasse... just can’t seem to to beat them! I think at this point we’ll be shelving the main campaign. I have yet to play Bowser’s Fury so maybe I’ll finally start that.
I did end up starting Horace the other day which is okay so far- I’m in the beginning and there’s a lot of story. I wish there was a speed read option but there doesn’t seem to be.
Otherwise I’ll be playing Halo 3 on my Series X 😀
Have a great weekend everyone!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (March 27th)

Mamabear

Still playing Cat Mario! Working on getting the last stamps. We’ve got most of the character completions just need the harder/unlocked levels. Also we tried out Champion’s Road and I’m not sure how we’re going to get through that 😂 let alone multiple times... Any tips?
Also working on Journey to the Savage Planet before it leaves GP on Xbox.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Re: New 4K Switch Model Could Launch For $399, Analysts Suggest

Mamabear

@Giancarlothomaz I paid $349 + taxes for my Deluxe Wii U on release so I would say that $399 would be in line with what they would ask for... Whether or not we think it’s worth the purchase/ upgrade is another matter but it would still sell like hot cakes.

For me to justify an upgrade it would have to have a better display, battery, better WiFi connection, Bluetooth audio capabilities. That would probably get me..

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (March 20th)

Still playing Cat Mario.. the wife and I gave finally unlocked Crown World. This game just keeps giving 😅. We tried New Super Mario Bros Deluxe after playing Cat Mario so much and it’s incredible how different it feels - so sluggish! I still haven’t tried Bowser’s Fury because the main game is just great. Probably one of my favorite Mario entries.

I just finished Max: The curse of Brotherhood via Gamepass which was a great gem and barely started Journey to the Savage Planet- giving it a go before it leaves (GP) seeing as it’s been in my wishlist for awhile.
Happy gaming everyone!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (March 13th)

Mamabear

Still playing Cat Mario- got the the flower world and realized I have to get all stars/stamps AND flags for the next rocket. On top of the levels just getting harder... I’ll also give Apex a try on Switch since I told my nephew I’d try it out.
On the Xbox front I’m playing Okami and Max Curse of the Brotherhood- good times!
Have a great weekend everyone and happy gaming!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (March 6th)

Mamabear

I’m still going strong in Cat Mario- I’ve been playing with my wife on her profile which I noticed is drastically further than my own so I might have to remedy that this weekend. I also barely started Cattails this past week which is... I mean I get to be a cat lol.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Re: Video: Here's What Apex Legends Looks Like On Nintendo Switch

Mamabear

@superderper Fortnite does it too- they usually include a skin set and a seasons worth of in game currency I believe. I imagine Apex will be like that too.

I’m not sure why anyone would expect the game on a cartridge since it’s a free download. I also don’t know why anyone would pay $30 to have a free game on cartridge when they could use that money on a decent memory card.

Re: Talking Point: What We're Hoping To See In Today's Nintendo Direct

Mamabear

I should like to see:
Metroid Prime trilogy (I’ve never played)
Any news on BotW2- I doubt it’s ready but I’d take a bone
I would love to see a Zelda collection including the games others have listed: Skyward, Twilight, Windwaker.. seriously I would preorder that in a hot second.

Seriously though I’m happy to hear just about anything- it’s been so long!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (Christmas Special)

Mamabear

I just started playing A Short Hike last night- I’m not sure about it. I made it to the top of the mountain which I’m assuming was the point of the game? I did a few things around the island for other characters and explored a bit but am feeling a little underwhelmed with the game. I’m going to boot it up again tonight and explore some more but I’m thinking I won’t be putting much more time into it. I think I played for maybe 2 hours so far- does that seem about right time wise?

I noticed that there’s quite a few of my wishlist games on sale right now so I’ll be picking up a few games. I’m thinking of picking up Hades as well since it seems to be such a pleaser and I like the look of it.. I’m just apprehensive about the rogue lite aspect.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (November 21st)

Mamabear

Just finished The Messenger- fun little game!

I finished playing Pikmin 3 deluxe- I never played it on Wii U and found it to be meh. The Pikmin were cute and it was a decent idea but the story/characters were underwhelming for me and nothing was engaging enough. I thought I would like it more and I’m glad I rented it rather than spend $60.
I finally got around to Hyrule Warriors demo and it was very nice looking but I don’t like that style of fighting- it makes me want to play a proper entry with the dungeon and puzzle elements more than anything.
So I suppose I may give Pokémon Shield another shot or finally try Mario Sunshine in the next week.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (November 14th)

Mamabear

I’ve been sitting on Pikmin 3 for the last week without playing so I’m going to try to play some this weekend. The problem has been all my gaming hours have been spent playing The Messenger ( also on Switch!) and it’s addictive. The platforming is tight and the writing is entertaining. Definitely recommend if anyone is interested in platforming games... it gives me Celeste vibes.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (October 31st)

Mamabear

I’ll be playing Splatfest #teamTreat !

If I get tired of that I plan to play the demo of Hyrule Warriors- I didn’t enjoy the first one but maybe this will be better for me..
Otherwise I’ll continue playing The Avengers on Xbox until my copy of Pikmin 3 arrives from GameFly.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Re: Control: Ultimate Edition Is Available Now On Switch, But There's A Catch

Mamabear

This was a huge surprise for me! I’m glad that people get the chance to play this game on Switch because it’s fantastic.
I’m not sure why some people would want a downgraded version of this game on a cart though... it would be bad. I doubt a “Switch Pro” would do this game justice either. I had performance issues on my One S.
I think streaming this game is the best bet here and if it proves successful we may see some other big titles coming to Nintendo via streaming.
