Re: Review: Astral Chain - Platinum's Best Game Ever? You'd Better Believe It

Mamabear

I’m going to pass on this. I can’t say I enjoyed other games from PlatinumGames I’ve tried. This looks complicated and I can’t see anything that would be redeeming in my eyes. The great thing about the Switch right now is that we’re getting such a good variety in game releases that I don’t feel compelled to get games that I have little interest in just because there’s not much else (*cough Wii U).

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (August 24th)

I’m happily continuing Wolfenstein Youngblood- sadly I think I’m getting to the end since I only have a few more missions left.

I tried the DQ demo yesterday and like the look of it and I’m finding the story to be okay but the voices are a huge turn off (English). It was more pleasant without my headphones. I’m finding that I dislike turn based combat in general so I doubt I’ll finish the demo and won’t be purchasing. I wanted to like it more since it’s a series everyone seems to rave about.

If I finish WY I may dive back into Celeste and/or MM2.

@Tasuki I think you can play in on Xbox game pass actually and I’ve seen it for around $17 used even at GameStop. This is definitely a game you can get cheaper on another system.

I for one will be getting this on Switch. I have plans of getting an Xbox at some point ( Black Friday)but it’s just so much easier to get gaming time on my Switch since I don’t have to share the TV with my littles. This is going to be a game that takes a lot of hours it would probably take me years to finish if I were constrained to only playing on my TV.

Re: Poll: Have You Ever Had Problems With Nintendo Hardware?

Mamabear

The Switch is the ONLY Nintendo console I’ve had issues with and I’ve had them all at one point or another. I’ve got cracks in my Switch shell- I’m thinking heat. Also 3 separate joy con issues: drift ( fixed), broken R3( fixed), and the latest buttons not responding as the should/ not mapped correctly ( I’m afraid it’s really dead unless I send it in and fork over $40 for the fix).
Overall I’d say Nintendo still makes good products despite my issues with Switch.

2 of the 3 Microsoft ( xbox 360 and Xbox one) consoles I’ve owned have had issues with the disc drive. My 360 I had for around 4 years and the Xbox one I bought a used original model ( need I say more). I’m more wary about Xbox but it’s not going to stop me from trying a new Xbone s when I get the chance to buy it.

I’ll be playing in the Splatfest of course but may continue my climb up Celeste Mountain when I get the chance. I have to say I thought I was doing very good snagging strawberries until I got to the end of the chapter and saw I only found half of them. I also found my first b-side in the hotel... this is shaping up to be quite the challenge. As for deaths... Well I suppose I’m learning a lot 😂

Re: Poll: Have Your Joy-Con Been Drifting?

Mamabear

So far I’ve only had one issue of drifting ( crosses finger) since I was within warranty I got it fixed free. They’re too expensive for this to be such a problem and when Nintendo charges almost the cost of a new joycon to fix a drifting one that’s a huge problem.

Re: Deals: Grab A Bargain With These Nintendo Switch Goodies On Prime Day 2019

@dougphisig you use a computer and save the current memory card folder and then you copy it to the new memory card. Normally all your save data/ screenshots etc are saved to system memory so you don’t have to worry about that. I’ve had to do it before and had no issues.

I did take advantage of that 400 gb card. Was going to get the 256 but I sprung for the larger so I should be good for awhile.

I was honestly hoping for a good Xbox one deal. I’ve been on the fence for a bit.

Re: The World Next Door

Mamabear

Nothing?! Well here’s my take..

This game is quite short (about 4 hours) but it’s very good. The characters are developed well, the dialogue/ story is entertaining, the gameplay is fun and is an excellent take on a puzzle format ( match the colors) that feels fresh and satisfying. The biggest complaint is how the ending is left. I guess there was an update that allowed for a BASIC tie up in the credits in the form of a few screens and text but I think that’s lazy. Major story lines/ events are left with no resolution. I don’t know if they were rushed to get this game out or ran out of money to finish it properly. This game easily could have scored a 10 for me if it had felt like a finished product.

I’ll be playing some levels on MM2- I haven’t even touched story mode yet just been playing other people’s creations. Some are seriously fantastic. I finally go around to making my own but I’ve got some more practice in. I enjoy MM2 more than the original personally and I’m probably the one person who’s not terribly sad the Wii U gamepad isn’t around this time.
Otherwise I’ll be playing some Guacamelee I just started the other day. So far it’s pretty good.

@Dm9982 I tried out Paw Patrol for my 4 year old and ended up trading it in. She liked the animations but The levels looked very similar to one another and she was losing interest. My biggest complaint is that it’s only 1 player so I couldn’t play with her and help her. I ended up getting New Super Mario Bros Deluxe instead which is more challenging but she likes to play with me. She also likes Smash Bros and MK8- I don’t know if you’ve tried those with your kid.

Re: Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered Will Be A GameStop Exclusive In The United States

Mamabear

@BacklogBlues That’s one of the reasons I dislike GameStop. Especially if you’re selling a console the trade in value is ridiculous compared what you could get selling it yourself ( usually) on eBay or some other platform. You end up paying for that convenience with a quick trip to GameStop. I also find that they’re not competitive with other retailers- they rarely have sales that are meaningful.
