Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (October 5th)

Mamabear

@Francema I got about 17-18 hours out of Link’s Awakening. I’ve never played the original ( played other Zelda titles so familiar with general layout). I think I was missing 9 seashells and I didn’t play much of Dampe’s dungeon builder but it was well executed. Overall I was not upset about the value of the game.

Re: Video: 16 Exciting New Games Coming To Nintendo Switch In October

Mamabear

I’ve already preordered Witcher and Luigi’s Mansion. RingFit and Overwatch are definitely on my list too but I may wait to pick them up- especially since I’ve preordered Mario/ Sonic, Just Dance, and Pokémon for November. Big maybes are A Hat in Time and Little Town Hero but I’d like to see some reviews.

Re: Uh-Oh, We've Got Our First Reported Case Of Drift On The Switch Lite

Mamabear

Joy con drift would be my main reason for not buying a Switch lite. It was one thing to send in my joycon for repair and I was still able to play but being without my system would be hard. That being said it does seem to be a tad early for an issue but who knows. I experienced drift within a few months of owning mine but I didn’t send it in until it got too unbearable to play with it.

Re: Review: Untitled Goose Game - Short But Most Definitely Sweet

Mamabear

@SuperCharlie78 I was looking at Sayonara Wild until I saw it was part of Apple Arcade- kind of turned me off from buying it on Switch. I think everyone just has different opinions on what’s a good value to them. I would rather pay for video games than go to the movie theater personally. As much as I love a good burger I’d take some tacos and margaritas for the same price.

Re: Review: Untitled Goose Game - Short But Most Definitely Sweet

Mamabear

So it looks like based on the reviews I can expect around 4-5 hours with everything the game has to offer ( I believe it the review said a couple hours for the story and then further on it said another few hours completing the challenges). So I think with a launch price of $15 for 4 hours is not too bad ( $3.75/ hour). Ideally I like around $2/hour but I’ve had plenty of games that cost a little more and are worth it IMO ( South Park since I didn’t buy it on sale cost more but was a lot of fun). I’ll pick this up and hopefully have a good time- based on the review I think I will.

Re: Say Goodbye To Celeste With The Free Farewell Update Now Available On Switch

Mamabear

@bro2dragons 873 deaths?! That’s it?! 😅 I’m well over 4000 now...

Celeste infuriates me. The platforming is tough as nails. But... but I’m still playing it despite the constant deaths and curses. The story is great and there is something pretty fantastic about getting the stupid strawberry that I died 118 times for ( you may think I’m exaggerating). The news of 100 more ridiculous levels is not “Yay!” But rather “Ugh!” Since I’ll feel compelled to try them out and once I try them I’ll be sucked into this infinite hellhole of “ one more try!” Celeste to me is the epitome of Love/ Hate experience.. sitting right next to Hollow Knight..

Re: GameStop Set To Close 180 - 200 "Underperforming" Stores This Fiscal Year

Mamabear

@graysoncharles haha! All of them? I’ve got like over 20 of these thing within 15 miles of me. There are more GameStops in my location than Starbucks.

Maybe without so many brick and mortar stores to operate they can concentrate their efforts on being competitive with prices. It’s a shame though. I was pretty sad when Toys R Us did this and then ended up going under but they actually made some effort of staying competitive what with decent sales and price matches.

Re: Review: Daemon X Machina - Solid Mech Mayhem That Gets A Tad Repetitive

Mamabear

I played the demo recently and was surprised about how easy the controls were and the battles were fun and satisfying. The look was good too. That being said I will not be partaking in this game simply because I think that I’ll play for a bit and then in will sit gathering dust. Especially with all these big games I’ve got coming to be in the next few months.

Re: Microsoft Focused On Launching Ori Sequel Exclusively On Xbox One And PC

Mamabear

@BlueOcean Thanks for clarifying that! That sounds much more feasible for Switch.

I’ll probably end up getting an Xbox around Black Friday since there’s bound to be some great deals and there’s just some games I’m itching to get into. I can’t be too mad about the second Ori being an exclusive - Nintendo has great exclusives.

Re: Microsoft Focused On Launching Ori Sequel Exclusively On Xbox One And PC

Mamabear

@BlueOcean I’m a big advocate for game pass coming to Switch but the more I get to thinking about it is it possible? Some of those games- Gears, Wolfenstein, etc are huge downloads. Wouldn’t there be a lot of work to make them run on Switch? If we do get game pass would it just be a limited version of it? I think without streaming games it may not be a full experience.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (September 7th)

Mamabear

Since I’ve finally finished Youngblood ( I got ~45 hours), I’ve gotten back into playing Celeste. This game is simply frustratingly addictive. I’m on chapter 7 now! I’m not sure if I’ll go back for all the strawberries/ b- sides yet since some of them are so hard to find/ get. I also did end up picking up Hellblade during a sale so I’ll be starting that soon. Maybe I’ll get in on some of that SNES action too. Try to tie up some loose ends before Zelda later this month.

Re: Switch's NES And SNES Games Will No Longer Be Added Monthly

Mamabear

There are still worthwhile NES games to add?!!! I’ll be upset when a new obscure NES game is added. I don’t mind them spacing the games out more. I’m sure they’re looking at the precedent this is setting and realizing that people are going to be expecting N64 games next year.

Re: Round Up: Everything Announced In The September 2019 Nintendo Direct

Mamabear

I thought there was a lot of stuff in the direct. I’ll admit I was hoping for a Mario but there’s such a good variety I can’t be upset. The more I see about Animal Crossing the more excited I am! I preordered Pokémon Shield awhile ago but I have to say that every time I see more info about the game I question that decision.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (August 31st)

Mamabear

Still putting some time into Youngblood- another mission opens up when I’ve finished another. I’ve gotten a little over 40 hours into this game which is much more than I expected due to the price point and all the negative reviews. I simply don’t agree with all the negativity surrounding this game.
Thinking of picking up Hellblade on Switch since it’s on sale and I’ve been waiting for a sale but I’m really undecided on whether I’ll Like it.
I also redownloaded DQ demo on Switch- I felt that the hour and a half I put in probably wasn’t enough to base judgement on. Now I’m wondering if I’m trying to like it more than I actually do cause I’ve been wanting to try it. 😅 I still hate listening to the game though.
