I want to pick up a few of those actually- La Mulana 1&2, Murder by Numbers, and Good Job. Eventually when I play some of my backlog I will pick up some lol.
I’ve managed to complete Transistor this past week- I will probably remember the ending for a good while. I haven’t been so irritated about a game in awhile. I also started Child of Light and finished half of it before realizing I don’t care much for it. I’ll be checking out some of the other titles in my backlog now- maybe South Park Stick of Truth, Hob, or Torchlight 2. Hmm.. I’ve been refraining from purchasing more games since I’m trying to work on my backlog a bit before I drop some coin on all the games I want in May/ June. It’s so hard though... I want to check out that spring sale on Eshop!
On the Xbox front I’ve started playing Fe ( EA Access- great deal if there’s some games you’re interested in!) I’m also thinking about my next adventure with Miss Lara Craft! I’ve got RotTR installed now!
That’s a bit later than I was hoping for but I’m glad that it’s on cartridge! 6 GB update? Psh.. I think Smash Bros has had close to that that’s not bad. With this, Ninjala, 51 Games, Borderlands, and Bioshock that’s a very hectic week of releases for me.
@patbacknitro18 I agree this would have been a cool game to have as part of their online service!
This was a highlight for me with the local and online coop I think this will be a lot of fun. I thought the price was a little high but I think there’s a lot of value to be had here.
Awesome! I’ll be picking up that workplace game for sure! Also Borderlands and maybe Bioshock when they come out! Also really excited for that game collection! Yeah we got some remakes but I think there’s some good things in here. Definitely a nice surprise today!
These masks are gold right now. My wife would love a box for work. It’s a shame we can’t seem to get enough of these to where they need to go- hopefully that will change soon.
Hmm.. I’ve been thinking about giving this a try. It sounds interesting. I thought Hollow Knight was hard and had to pull up a guide to get me started but the difficulty didn’t keep me from playing because I found the world intriguing. I thought Cuphead was hard but I couldn’t bring myself to keep up the torture once I realized I didn’t much care about the characters or the world. So I suppose the real question- does the story/ character/ world justify the difficulty?
@GregamanX I also preordered Moving Out After that demo. My wife and I were laughing pretty hard! I wish that there was an online multiplayer like Overcooked 2 but overall I liked it!
This list sounds like work.. I hate work and video games in the same sentence. I buy the games that catch my fancy when they’re on sale. Usually that leaves me with a backlog. I’ve started implementing trying a game for an hour and if I don’t care for it then delete it. Sometimes I keep playing the same game but as long as I’m happily playing I don’t mind the backlog.
Last week when I was deciding what Switch game to play I made the mistake of booting up Fortnite again... Alas I’ve been sucked back into it! I did pick up Mario Party today on sale so I can play with the kid. On the Xbox front I’ve been continuing my adventure in Control- I’m stuck trying to beat the fridge boss. I can’t seem to get it! I’ve moved on to continue the story but I’m still thinking about it. Happy gaming all and stay safe!
@SwitchForce Clearly you’ve had some horrible Amazon experiences. Maybe other people have as well. Seriously though any time I’ve made a return ( even if it’s not defective) I have gotten the entire amount that I paid for the item. Every time. Even when I return to Kohl’s or anywhere. I’m not sure how familiar you are with returns through them but you can actually pay the shipping yourself so you don’t get charged their quoted Shipping price- if this is something you have to do then that is usually an option. Or like you said you can have the shipping taken out of your refund. Again this is normally when you buy from a third party seller. I think most people don’t realize that returns may be different when you buy from Amazon, Amazon Warehouse, or other third party sellers. They have their own unique rules and some may be subject to restocking fee unless defected ( Amazon warehouse and 3rd party sellers). I’m not grasping at straws. I’ve been a customer for many years and have not had few bad experiences which were taken care of when customer service was contacted.
I think this conversation is showing light on an actual issue which is that it is risky to make large purchases on Amazon- video game consoles, large or expensive electronics, or even furniture. Since many people don’t bother to take the time to discover the actual seller of the item and any rules they may have regarding returns it is often surprising when you get hit with these charges you weren’t expecting. I myself had planned to buy an Xbox One on Amazon since it was so much cheaper than going to Target or GameStop. However when I looked at the recent reviews it seemed likely that I may not be getting the NEW console I wanted. That made me look at seller policies - I ended up buying at a trusted store because the seller with the best price On Amazon would charge a restocking fee If returned and I thought that was a gamble. Morale of the story- be a thoughtful consumer.
Also to anyone saying just sell you game on eBay- that may or may not be the best decision. eBay charges you selling fees , sometimes listing fees, PayPal fees, plus you have to accept returns if the customer says the item is not in stated condition. I’ve found that more often than not, after all the fees, that GameStop trade value is fairly comparable- I’ve even found instances where I’ll get more at GameStop especially if I trade towards an upcoming game. I’ve also had several instances where the game I’m looking for is cheaper at GameStop than eBay especially used and when you take shipping in account.
I have mixed feelings about GameStop but I do think they’ve been trying to turn things around. I’ve noticed lower prices on used games, more sales, and that cool $5 off coupon you get for being a pro member once a month. It’s not by any means fixed but it’s a start. I used to buy my new games exclusively from Amazon with that 20% preorder discount but since they’ve done away with that I have cut back dramatically on buying new releases in general. If I’m buying a used game it’s from GameStop- with that 7 day return policy it’s just the best choice for me. Now if GameStop started matching prices...
@SwitchForce I’ve never paid to return to Amazon. I have had an instance that I had to pay return shipping on an item that I bought through a small seller of Amazon. In fact I can take my item unboxed/ packed and take it to the UPS store or Kohl’s and they box it and print the label and I get a receipt for return. As for returning an opened new game- that’s never been allowed anywhere.
I just started Lichtspear on Xbox since it’s leaving gamepass... it’s interesting to say the least. I was giving Rainbow 6 a try since it’s a free trial this weekend but I promptly ended up deleting it. I’ll continue chipping away at Control..
I haven’t picked up Pokémon Mystery Dungeons yet but all these comments about it are really making me rethink my decision to wait! Also strongly thinking about downloading Murder by Numbers on eshop. I did finish Glass Masquerade on Switch this week but I haven’t picked out the next game to play yet. Continue with the backlog or get Murder by Numbers? Hmm..
I’m on the fence with this game. I liked the demo okay and find myself wondering about the end- I never played the original. The art was cute. I wonder though if it’s just going to become a boring grindfest though... Ugh I hate buying games at full price and disliking them. I don’t necessarily think spinoffs are bad. I would support a new PokePark game ... My wife and I loved the original on Wii.
I’m seriously considering Pokémon Mystery Dungeon.. Thinking about Animal Crossing and the La Mulana games.. I do have Moving Out preordered for Xbox one since it was $10 cheaper than Switch version.
I know there’s going to be more released ( there has to be) a nice juicy direct would do wonders to alleviate the seriously underwhelming outlook. On the bright side I suppose if this is a crap year for new releases I do have a bountiful backlog to tide me over.
I’ve been going through my games on Switch since I have so many in my backlog- gave Slayaway Butchers Camp ( too gory), Push Pipe Paradise ( hard!), Letter Quest Remastered ( meh), and Think of the Children all a fair go. Surprisingly Think of the Children was my favorite of the lot. I played by myself but it would be even better as a multiplayer experience. Some of the levels are fairly difficult but the chaos is fun and I found myself laughing at the idiot children. I managed to pass all the levels but the last 2 myself- the difficulty there really ramps up. Also finally managed the Pokémon dungeon demo and find myself liking it enough to contemplate buying it. I don’t want a big grinding experience though- any thoughts to those who’ve played the originals? I enjoyed Pokémon Let’s Go because catching Pokémon didn’t take forever and it felt more streamlined. I don’t care much for Pokémon Shield because it takes forever to do anything and the story isn’t compelling me enough to get through it. Also continue on with Control on Xbox- simply engrossing.
I’ll be continuing Control on Xbox... I have to play it in short bursts cause it creeps me out.
I said I was going to start a new game on Switch last week but I started playing Piczle Lines DX again 😅I have the dinosaur puzzle pack left ( all of them are 120x120 so they’re much more challenging). So I haven’t really decided yet What game I’m going to play.. I have a backlog that doesn’t seem to have an end in sight. Maybe I’ll finally get to that Pokémon Dungeon demo.
I am more excited about this game after the direct to be fair. I’m glad at least save transfers were mentioned. Nothing about the in game purchases that have been brought up. I can’t say I’m super excited about changing the island but I suppose I don’t have to. I would like to know more about local coop- this leader/follower thing. Are the followers literally stuck following the leader (ie can they move independently) ? Are the followers able to do anything? I thought this could be neat to play with a kid but not if there’s no autonomy for the following player.
With all the confusion regarding cloud saves, system transfers, and in game purchases that have been written about on this site alone a direct about this game is smart. Hope they clear up some of this.
So I haven’t played the NES or SNES games and I probably won’t- the games I’ve wanted to play I already have from those systems. There’s too many fantastic New games being released to make me want to play these games for a 3rd time ( or more). I buy online service for cloud saves but with Pokémon and Animal Crossing (and others) not supporting cloud saves it’s incredibly disappointing. I just want to continue my Pokémon game on the Switch lite so my wife can play Ring Fit on my original switch.. I don’t think that’s unreasonable want. Tetris 99 is a surprising bonus to the online service but that’s one thing trying to keep a sinking ship afloat. It’s especially irritating to know that there are limited game trials being offered to a fraction of the online subscribers. The cost is good but I feel like I get better value with my Xbox service. When my new Xbox broke and they gave me a new one ALL my saves were ready for me once I logged onto my new console. Personally I like that the games they offer as freebies are things I haven’t tried/ don’t normally buy- keeps my gaming fresh. I love Nintendo and I was very hopeful when they first started talking about NSO but overall it’s a big meh.
This would be great other places too.. it’s a shame Nintendo is only doing this in Japan. Any offers/perks to make a paid mediocre online service better should be across the board. Just sounds like good business.
I’ll be playing Control for Xbox and I haven’t decided what Switch game I’ll be playing. I’ve decided to put Pokémon Shield to rest for awhile, after 3 gym badges and about 18 hours I’m just having a really hard time wanting to play it. I just picked up Sparklite, Phoenix Wright trilogy, and Glass Masquerade On sale this week so I may pick one of those to dip into. My backlogs are getting out of control so I’m going to have do some serious work and hold off on more purchases 😅. While I’m excited about a possible direct coming, I simply have so much to play as is on Switch and Xbox!
@Paraka I think I understand your point now. Like companies who require “updates” on the game that just released. Mistakes or changes made when a game is distributed makes me think that the game wasn’t fully tested before release. I can understand that frustration.
@Paraka I’m not sure what the complaint is.. I thought this was an update so if you have the physical cartridge then you would just do an update right?
Anyways I’m glad I held off until now. For those looking for physical in the US GameStop has it listed for $14.99 new. It wasn’t available online last I checked but if you live next to a store that has it. Also Target, Best Buy, and I believe Walmart will price match GameStop if they have it.
I’ll be finishing up What Remains of Edith Finch and hopefully Wolfenstein the New Order before starting Control on Xbox. If I get some Switch time I’ll try out that Pokémon Dungeon demo or Pokémon Shield.
I find this disappointing... I have the original Switch and things like this and games not Supporting cloud saves will 100% prevent me from upgrading to a new Switch down the line. I don’t want to cheat or whatever it is they fear.. I just want the option of getting a new Switch with a better battery and know I don’t have to start over again.
I was trying to finish Tomb Raider before it left gamepass but it didn’t happen... Obviously I had to buy it since I’m almost done and have to see the ending. I’ll also be trying to round up 3 stars in Overcooked 2 the Carnival of Chaos- usually With a bit of practice 3 stars is manageable but there are a few in this level set that are incredibly challenging. My wife says playing this game should be a prerequisite for marriage lol. Hopefully I’ll put some time into Pokémon Shield too and try out that Pokémon Dungeon demo.

I would agree with this review it was simply fantastic and I still think of this game fondly even when I played it around it’s launch way back when.

Anyways I’m glad I held off until now. For those looking for physical in the US GameStop has it listed for $14.99 new. It wasn’t available online last I checked but if you live next to a store that has it. Also Target, Best Buy, and I believe Walmart will price match GameStop if they have it.
Re: Random: What On Earth Is This GIF Doing In Pokémon Home?
That’s how it is when I play just dance 😂 Move children!
Re: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Might Contain In-Game Purchases
I’ll have to wait and see what ends up happening with this game- between DLC and cloud saves I see myself postponing this purchase until I know more.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (February 8th)
I’ll be finishing up What Remains of Edith Finch and hopefully Wolfenstein the New Order before starting Control on Xbox. If I get some Switch time I’ll try out that Pokémon Dungeon demo or Pokémon Shield.
Re: Rumour: You Might Not Be Able To Transfer Animal Crossing: New Horizons Save Data To Another Switch
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (February 1st)
