Re: Review: Minecraft Dungeons - A Simple Action RPG That Relies Too Heavily On The Minecraft Name

Mamabear

I love this game on Xbox! I guess I understand how you would rate frame rate issues more heavily in a ā€œsimplerā€ game vs something more demanding. Hopefully they get a patch to fix that when they roll out dlc.
While there aren’t many levels per say they do change for each play through and I still get a minimum 25-30 min per level ( usually closer to 40) when I explore the entire map. I do play this as part of Gamepass but I plan to buy the dlc because I enjoy this game enough to want to play it. I also plan on playing through different difficulty tiers also since this game is addictive! I can’t say I completely agree with 6/10 (Unless you are seriously unable to play the game because of performance issues) but I guess to each their own.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (June 6th)

Mamabear

I finished playing Beat Cop this week which was surprisingly fun- I would recommend it to anyone who might find it interesting. I think it’s more of a time management game but it has a lot of humor and I thought the choices made were impactful.

I ended up picking up a digital copy of Clubhouse 51 but I haven’t gotten to play it yet. I’ll be trying that out this weekend.

My copy of Outer Worlds hasn’t arrived yet but that’s probably for the best so I can put some time into Borderlands šŸ™‚

Also been having more fun than I expected playing Minecraft Dungeons on Gamepass!

Re: Review: Borderlands Legendary Collection - A Triple-Helping Of Classic FPS Action

Mamabear

@PlayedNSlayed I suppose it could be true that what I assumed was an update could be part of the first game. Anyone would be able to download that first game if you sold/ traded it in since it’s built into the cartridge.
I’ve had similar experience of that playing a used copy of Spyro- since the games were built into the cartridge/ not a download code I could download and play them all even when someone else had done so before.
I’ve never seen a download code that could be used more than once so I’d assume that using the download code for the other two games would make a resale of those impossible.
It is really disappointing how they’ve released the games this way. Pretty much makes a physical copy pointless imo.

Re: Review: Borderlands Legendary Collection - A Triple-Helping Of Classic FPS Action

Mamabear

@Paraka Not quite true- the first game is on cartridge with the other 2 being download tickets. I did see a sizable update day one though.

Seeing how Borderlands was packaged put me off from buying Bioshock at this point. I buy physical games so I can sell them when I’m done/ don’t like it. Making the other games redeemed by code makes it near impossible to sell these once done.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (May 30th)

Mamabear

I picked up Borderlands and want to start that up but I should finish up Beat Cop first šŸ˜….

I was a little peeved to find that the Borderlands collection includes only the first game on cart and includes download codes for the next 2 games. Maybe I missed this point before? Sucks for people who like to sell their games after. I thought it would be like Spyro where the other games are downloaded automatically ( no code needed). I had planned on buying Bioshock physical but I’m assuming this is the same case so I’ll be holding off for now.
Happy gaming everyone!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (May 23rd)

Mamabear

I’ll be playing Splatfest! Like many others I hadn’t played for awhile and became embarrassingly rusty- Shaking it off though lol!
Started playing Beat Cop so if I get the chance I’ll continue playing that as well.
I’ve also got Ori and the Will of the Wisps going on Xbox... reminds me a lot of the first one.

Re: Paper Mario: The Origami King Pre-Orders Are Now Open For Nintendo Switch

Mamabear

@TheFox I agree with you in that there’s little incentive to preorder Nintendo games. The games hang out at full price for a long while (generally). I haven’t had issues trying to find a physical game when I wanted it either. Nintendo used to offer bonus gold points on digital preorders but I haven’t seen that in the US eshop for a while now. Now I just wait to buy games until a review drops.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (May 16th)

Mamabear

I’ve been playing the Super Mega Baseball 3 demo just to make sure I want to purchase it šŸ™‚ It’s the only thing I’ve been playing on Switch the past few days and I think I’m going to bite. I should continue through my backlog though so maybe I’ll start something else... Hmm Beat Cop or Hotline Miami Collection?

Re: PGA Tour 2K21 Tees Off On Switch This Summer

Mamabear

Despite the grumbles about this isn’t this a big deal? I don’t remember a lot of golf games (except Mario’s) being on Nintendo in general so for this big title to finally be making it’s way is good news.

Re: PGA Tour 2K21 Tees Off On Switch This Summer

Mamabear

@RudyC3 There’s a game called Golf with Your Friends coming to Switch I believe next week that may fit more of what you’re looking for. I’ve been looking forward to it. Also the incredibly unrealistic What the Golf? Coming next week too.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (May 9th)

Mamabear

I gave up on Hob for the moment so now I have to pick a new game to play. The other night I started up Piczle Lines DX again šŸ˜… since I’m still working through the last puzzle pack. It’s just easy to keep coming back to it since it’s not demanding.

Also keep up Rise of the Tomb Raider on Xbox... simply fantastic.

Happy gaming everyone!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (May 2nd)

Mamabear

I’ve started Hob on Switch but I’m finding I don’t care for it as much as I thought. Shame because I thought I had a good handle on it with the demo but I find that I don’t know what I’m supposed to be doing most of the time. I’m going to try to give it another play session before I give up on it.

Playing Moving Out on Gamepass.. I thought it would be the next game my wife and I play ( we just got all Overcooked 2 achievements) but she doesn’t care for it as much. I think it’s hilarious but it can definitely be challenging. I was worried because the demo was easy but it’s proving to be harder than that- especially considering the optional objectives .

Will also continue my adventure in Rise of the Tomb Raider- Game is so fantastic! I think I’m getting close to the end of it but I’m going to buy the season pass and keep that glorious wheel spinning.

Happy gaming everyone and stay safe!

Re: A Nintendo Direct In June Is Beginning To Seem Less And Less Likely

Mamabear

I suppose even if there’s no direct in June maybe there’ll be something a little later on? Honestly just any info on something coming soon even if it’s delayed is better than nothing. I’ve got Borderlands preordered, The Outer Worlds, and 51 Games but after that it’s void. I’ll be continuing my backlog and those games I end up buying but if Xbox and PlayStation can be open about their plans I see no reason Nintendo won’t ( except I guess the over 2 year wait for Metroid 4 we’ve already had- maybe trying to avoid more of that..)

Re: Review: Moving Out - Good, Old-Fashioned Fun That Just Falls Short Of Greatness

Mamabear

I’ve preordered this already! I liked the demo but I worry about the difficulty- hopefully it ramps up a bit since the demo levels were a bit tame. I hope this has online multiplayer also or that they can add it down the line because that was a major improvement in the second Overcooked. Overall I’m looking forward to it’s arrival this week!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (April 18th)

Mamabear

Still working on my backlog and I’ve held off buying more games ( so far!). I was thinking about Call of Juarez since it’s on sale but I’m really trying to hold off buying new games.

I just finished South Park Stick Of Truth- overall fantastic game. There were a couple sections that made me squirm but it was a blast and the combat is surprisingly good. I hope they make a new South Park game as I’ve really enjoyed SoT and FbW.

I was thinking about starting up Hob or Hotline Miami Collection next!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (April 18th)

Mamabear

@Akropolon I have yet to finish Wolfenstein The New Order on Xbox.. I’m probably going to have to buy it since it’s leaving gamepass soon and it’s a great game. I played Youngblood and New Colossus on Switch- but I’m curious how they stack up on Xbox. I find it takes me less time to complete games on my Switch.

Re: Review: Totally Reliable Delivery Service - Return To Sender

Mamabear

I tried this on gamepass and played for about an hour before I was too frustrated to continue. The controls are just weird and you have to be so precise on top of it- just makes it frustrating. Also some of the physics elements were too touchy which was also frustrating- think a round item on a forklift while trying to go on an incline. It was easier to drag the item at a snail’s pace than struggle with the forklift they provided. The idea was good and the game looked okay for what it is but ultimately it needs some tweaking to make the controls more playable. I would be upset if I paid money for this in its current state.

Re: Review: Overcooked 2: Gourmet Edition - The Perfect Recipe For Multiplayer Fun

Mamabear

I would agree with the review con- dlcs didn’t push the envelope enough or special things not being utilized enough. That being said there are some truly great things happening in the dlc. The horde levels are great. The new mechanisms for cooking/chopping/washing are fun and add to the experience. Overall this game is a must purchase for me. It’s great to play multiplayer ( with similar skilled/ competitive player's ). It’s still fun to play solo though once you get the hang of it. Ultimately the question is whether or not the dlc is great enough to justify the added cost- since the base game is $25 on eshop. I personally think it is. While each dlc world adds roughly 12 levels they are great and you will play them over and over.

Re: Review: Overcooked 2: Gourmet Edition - The Perfect Recipe For Multiplayer Fun

Mamabear

@jarvismp I agree with the other person who commented to you. It takes some practice and you’ll want to have your inactive person chopping or washing while your active person is doing something. I mostly played multiplayer with my wife but there were several levels we couldn’t get through together so I ended up doing them myself. It’s worth noting that when you are playing multiplayer the Point threshold for stars is also higher.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (April 11th)

Mamabear

I’ll be continuing my backlog adventure with South Park Stick of Truth. I’m thinking Hob after that but who knows..
I was hoping Stretchers would be on sale in US eshop but it’s notšŸ˜“ I’ve had my eye on that one for awhile.
Also played the Super Mega Baseball 2 demo and am actually excited for the new one releasing ( hopefully still this month!). I’m thinking of picking that one up on release- I love when games support cross play!
Playing Rise if the Tomb Raider and as always Overcooked 2 on Xbox . Those last few achievements on Overcooked are elusive!

Re: Overcooked 2 Has Just Received A New 'Gourmet Edition' Release On Switch

Mamabear

That’s a good deal considering all the dlc prices-$25 base game, $20 season pass, $6 beach levels, and $4 Extra chef pack. The problem is that this should have been available initially as a deluxe edition. Maybe if they included the original? Great game that I myself have spent well over 65 hours playing so I think the value is good.
