Maybe not with Imamura, but here's hoping that perhaps such a Zelda materialises in the near future.
Interestingly enough, across all models, the Switch is just shy of 30 million. In fact, if everyone who brought FFXVI went and got a Switch, it would cross 30 million. Looks like it will happen sometime in the next month.
A month at the top for a Nintendo game is pretty decent in the UK. I image TOTK will hang around for a while yet, and who knows, it might even go back to number 1. I am curious how well Diablo IV will hold on.
Also, some people seem to have overactive imaginations.
Those Street Fighter 6 number looks low... might have to compare them later to see if that is normal for Japan.
Looking at the Switch numbers, assuming they maintain current pace, should be crossing 30 million sometime in the next 7 weeks, though I am expecting it to slow down, so will probably take a little longer than that.
The only real thing I noticed in my changed approach compared to BOTW, is that there was a good period of time where I came across shrines, activated the fast-travel point, then promptly ignored them for a few hours. In a similar fashion, I have also ignored the Koroks which need transporting, as I wanted to continue what I was doing at the time. Otherwise, I did stuff as I came across it, just like in BOTW.
Regardless of Covid, I am fairly sure Nintendo had no direct when there is no E3, as I feel they only did the showcase oit of obligation. Now that E3 is dead, I am not expecting anything until September.
Never played the original, as I never saw the appeal. I still don't see the appeal with this sequel either, but if people get some fun out of it... cool?
According to the parental control app, which I use as an activity log because Nintendo won't bake one into the Switch OS, I have spent 72 hours in the game so far. I can guarantee that a good 10 hours of those will have been me falling asleep randomly and leaving the game until sleep mode kicks in or I wake up and continue playing.
I have done the "dungeons", about 60 something shrines done with fully upgraded stamina, gotten the tears/"memories" whatever, and ready to fight Ganon. Only thing I am holding off for is the Master Sword (I cannot track down that stupid Light Dragon).
Got them all already, thankfully. Although, I am tempted to get another OOT Link Amiibo so I can leave it boxed (my personal favourite design of Link).
@Olliemar28 It makes sense since as you said, they could just remove it afterwards, but (and bearing in mind I am still early-ish in TOTK so I could be wrong), Hylian Shield is probably the best shield in the game, so I just found it funny that they would pick that shield out of all of them.
Not really what I want to hear in regards to Zelda. I guess this means I have to wait another 10-15 years for Nintendo to get tired of this "new" format and hope they return to the old formula. Heck, I would at least like a new 2D Zelda if nothing else.
@Slowdive You beat me to it. I would happily play through Replicant again on Switch. I could also do with Chrono Trigger getting ported/remade (not that it will ever happen).
@HeadPirate I agree with this. I feel the outliers are also more insightful when you have games getting practically perfect reviews since they might have noticed something not covered elsewhere. Although the risk I suppose is you do have some who do it purely for attention.
Some interesting figures on here. I do wonder what the true numbers are for some of the older entries, but perhaps we may get an update in the future.
I am keeping an eye on the sales of Engage against Three Houses as I am curious how it performs. I've still yet to pick up Engage myself.
I would like Metroid to keep improving especially the Prime remaster, but relative to other games on the list, I feel it hasn't done too badly. I just hope there is enough to convince Nintendo to keep making them.
Still don't like the concept of a Wii U port being the best-seller, with or without the expansion. I do wish the top 10 had a bit more variety but eh.
This reiterates what I said following the previous Nintendo Direct about Nintendo themselves having so little announced. I am also just gonna paste my comment from the last investor Q&A:
"Furukawa (Nintendo) is hardly going to admit that they have nothing. Perhaps they do have something, but until they say something, easier to assume nothing. As much as I enjoyed the recent direct; all of Nintendo's stuff were games and DLC announced previously with one new announcement of an admittedly decent remaster. Perhaps they are waiting for Zelda to pass, perhaps they are preparing a new console, perhaps they have dropped the ball; it's all irrelevant anyway; we still going to have to wait until they finally decide to say something."
@Jalex__64 Those numbers for Metroid Prime Remastered are disappointing, but to be fair, I feel like with the shadow drop and minimal marketing, it is not too bad.
I feel like Metroid never catches a break. I am just hoping it doesn't become the next F-Zero.
22329pts. I was very far away with my first answer, but got 3 perfects and 4955 on the last image. To be fair, I feel like the images I got were easy, for example, one of them was the lost woods entrance and another was the heartbreak pond.
I've been needing a 1TB Micro SD for ages, but keep putting it off because of the price. Don't think I would be getting this particular card over the competition either.
I remember when they announced the framework, they actually showed off some gameplay as a tech demo, a couple of months before they confirmed it as a full new game. I was always curious if someone would actually do this at some point.
Ocarina of Time design for me, though probably biased. His Smash Ultimate design is slightly cleaner OOT, but I still prefer the original. A very close second would be his design from Hyrule Warriors with his L'Oréal hair.
Yeah, seen this on twitter over the past few days about this appearing in the film. But regarding the lack of credit, I think that sucks to be honest and I am somewhat surprised they never thought to properly credit Grant for it. Hoping that they amend the credits for the digital/Blu-ray release.
Still looks like Japan might reach the 30 mil mark for Switch around Oct 2023 at this current rate, maybe even late September, though this doesn't factor in TOTK.
Interesting to see similar numbers for the PS4 and 5 when it comes to Resi 4.
@Varkster "Also it's again that paradox in what you're saying: if the people on this website are allowed to express their opinions despite how benign they may be, then I am allowed to trash their opinions in an open comment. As long as it doesn't attack or offend anybody personally."
And that is fine. Heck, if anything I encourage you to continue giving your opinions. I am certainly not going to stop you. But you seem so certain that "90% of the comments" have nothing of value to say, so why engage with them?
I also feel like a lot of people are happy to write off other opinions if they don't align with their own; they're allowed to do that, but nothing ever changes if no ones willing to talk about it. Probably why hot takes get so much engagement is because it gets people talking.
On a more general note for everyone specifically regarding TOTK; if you like what you see so far; then that is great; don't let others get you down. Even with my misgivings, I have no doubt that it will be a good game.
@Varkster How's this for a hot take: have you considered that perhaps you're in the wrong website? If people's opinions on a game, whether positive or negative bother you so much, are you sure the user base here is the problem and not yourself?
Most of the people on this site are here because Nintendo has been a significant part of their life, whether they started back around the beginning of Nintendo's history, or if they are new followers because of the Switch; naturally, everyones going to have opinions on Nintendo's output, regardless of how successful it is. If these opinions upset you, then that is unfortunate, but I don't see why people should leave just because you view the comments as hot takes. Heck, if you don't want to leave, start muting/blocking people. It reduces what you can get out of the site, but if it helps, then go for it.
@Bolt_Strike Couldn't agree more with this comment. It also doesn't help that the biggest selling point of BOTW is the exploration.
Asset reuse is not a bad thing, and I am not sure why this is the only thing people seem to have extrapolated from criticism of what we have seen of TOTK so far. Again, I point to the Yakuza/Like a Dragon series, which recyles Kamurocho in every game, yet at the same time, manages to feel fresh, though it also helps that the characters and story they introduce in each title are so interesting. Each game in that series stands as its own game.
Even in the Zelda series, A Link Between Worlds, while reusing the same map, feels fresh with new characters like Yuga and Hilda and new dungeons built entirely around the wall merge mechanic. But I have yet to see any of that in TOTK yet. Sure, I could be judging the game too harshly based on miniscule footage, but then perhaps Nintendo should actually show off more. BOTW "dungeons" felt very basic, so I can't put blind faith that TOTK will do better.
I know people don't want to be "spoiled", but I still am seeing so little from these trailers. I wish they would stop being so secretive about what makes this game "special".
Looking at my watch list on the 3DS eShop alone left me feeling sad; still a lot of stuff I am missing, though not for a lack of trying. I think I might try and buy Star Fox Guard, The 3DS Lourve Guide and maybe one or two more VC games before it closes in a few hours time.
@nhSnork If we are talking purely on an individual level from me, then they would actually see money from me buying Splatoon 3, and Mario Kart DLC, as opposed to no money at all from neither paying for the online or for the content I just mentioned. On a wider level, sure, perhaps they don't have incentive; I can't speak for everyone else when it comes to subscribing/not subscribing. It's certainly not for a better service than when it was free as it is still just as inconsistent.
Man, I thought I was a negative, miserable b*****d, but seeing the comments on this article, I feel like perhaps I am more positive than I thought. Sure, this might not amount to much in the grand scheme of things, but nice to see a legit attempt made at getting everything. I respect it.

Re: Poll: Super Mario All-Stars Is 30 Years Old - Do You Prefer The NES Or SNES Versions Of The Classics?
SNES versions are the best. I am definitely not biased despite being my first way to play.
Re: Square Enix's Dragon Quest Series Has Now Sold Over 88 Million Units Worldwide
Own a few of them. I have beaten:
11 (original and 11 S), Builders, Builders 2
I have played, but not beaten:
1 (Switch port), 7 (3DS port), 8, (3DS port), Heroes 1
I own, but not played:
Heroes 2, Wars
Currently playing:
Treasures
Looking forward to exploring more of the series.
