Re: NieR: Automata Confirmed For Switch, Coming This October

MS7000

Man, Squenix are weird when it comes to which games they will port or make cloud versions of.

Regarding Automata itself, I've not managed to convince myself to go back to it despite getting the first ending, It also doesn't help that I know most of the overarching story sadly. I kind of wish that if they went through all the effort for Automata, they they would of put Replicant on the Switch, which is fantastic and I cannot recommend enough.

Re: Nintendo Direct Mini To Air Tomorrow, June 28

MS7000

This is going to be 2020 again isn't it...

Not really expecting much of anything new here. At most, maybe Persona 3-5 being announced for Switch finally due to it now being confirmed for pretty much every other platform, but given this is Atlus, I have no hope.

Guess I am just going to have to wait until September at earliest for any interesting First-party news.

Re: Here's How Sonic 3's New Music In Sonic Origins Stacks Up To The Classics

MS7000

@Drac_Mazoku Ehh, I mean Sonic 1 and 2 have had multiple re-releases, so most Sonic fans who would care about the music will have most likely played these to death, especially since they are available on Switch already. That leaves S3&K and CD as the two games which aren't as widely available. Me personally, CD is meh, I never really enjoyed it despite enjoying the other games; that leaves S3@K. Having compromised music really ruins the experience. I am sure quite a few of us might be still willing to buy it after a hefty sale, but I feel most people who are interested, are in it for nostalgia. Without the music, nostalgia goes out the window.

Re: Pre-Orders For Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Special Edition Open From Tomorrow (US)

MS7000

@tylerryan79 I've played the entirety of Xenoblade 1. Got close to beating on New 3DS, then completely finished it on Switch. Played through Future Connect as well. Honestly, the combat felt quite different between 1 and 2, but I am aware break, topple, daze etc are in the sequel, I just couldn't get as invested.

I remember enjoying the combat for X, but I have not really touched it since my initial playthrough when it launched back in 2015.

Re: Pre-Orders For Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Special Edition Open From Tomorrow (US)

MS7000

@Otoemetry I tried buying some amiibo through them a couple of weeks ago, but the payment portal kept on glitching no matter what I did. They also wiped an order I had with them previously, then a few months after the order was due (April), tried charging my card multiple times for the full order, which my bank stopped, but consequently also ending up freezing my bank for a couple of days whilst the bank confirmed that it was indeed me who had tried to make a purchase originally.

I do remember you having issues with the Loftwing amiibo previously. Good to know you have had a good experience recently at least. =)

Re: Pre-Orders For Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Special Edition Open From Tomorrow (US)

MS7000

Probably will be skipping this special edition purely because it is limited to Nintendo's shop (which is still non-functional for me) and also how they are shipping the items separately. Will be a shame too as I have the special editions for 2 and 1 Def Edition.

Still haven't played 2 to be fair. Got to chapter 3 and gave up because I wasn't enjoying the combat (never really understood it, even after watching videos recommended to me) and the story hadn't grabbed me.

Re: Review: Nintendo Switch Sports - Familiar Fun With Friends, But Little More

MS7000

I'll be honest, when this was announced, I didn't understand why people were interested. The review doesn't surprise me that much. However, I expect this to sell like crazy, if for no other reason that the target demographic is quite broad. Anyone who played Wii Sports years ago who never played games otherwise will probably find this quite appealing.

Re: Where To Pre-Order Xenoblade Chronicles 3 On Switch

MS7000

I really hate the idea of special/limited editions being exclusive on My Nintendo Store. I've had a lot of issues with them ever since they swapped from the Hut Group to whatever they are using, the customer support is terrible, they try multiple times to charge my card for orders which I remember placing, but cannot visibly view in my orders, and the website functionally is a mess.

I sincerely hope that if future limited/special editions are exclusive that they fix their ****.

Re: Talking Point: Is It Ever A Good Idea To Start At 'The Beginning' Of Series Like Zelda Or Dragon Quest?

MS7000

There is a lot in this article that I agree with so very much. I think ultimately, it has to be treated on a case by case basis. Super Mario Bros and Sonic the Hedgehog are good ones to start with as I feel the core gameplay is still present in later games (New Super Mario Bros series and Sonic Mania).

I wouldn't recommend Metroid 1 as a starting point due to how little the game tells you. I feel like Super Metroid would probably be a better starting point purely because there are lots of secrets to discover, but there is a map should you lose your way to at least guide you through the game.

Re: The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2 Delayed To Spring 2023

MS7000

Normally, I would of been crushed when a Zelda game is delayed, but not that bothered about BOTW2. Until I see proper dungeons (not divine beasts) and a more fleshed out story, not that interested.

I am interested what they are planning on filling that gap with, but to be fair, this is Nintendo, so probably a wave of MK8 DLC...

Re: Feature: 29 Best 3DS eShop Games You Should Get Before They're Gone Forever

MS7000

I feel like all the 3D Classics are good picks because of them being unique versions of the games, but if you don't care about the 3D, probably not the best picks. I feel like the Ace Attorney games will be rereleased sooner or later. The Guild01 and Guild02 are good picks.

I still need to pick up the Pushmos. Too many good games to pick from.

Re: Feature: Our Nintendo 3DS And Wii U Memories, In Infographic Form

MS7000

I already went over my figures in the forums but will repost here.

3DS:

Total Play Time: 2633 hours
Titles Played: 279
Most Played:
1) Fire Emblem Awakening - 264 hours
2) The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D - 180 hours
3) Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate - 154 hours
Favourite Genres: RPG, followed by Action and Adventure, with a hint towards strategy

Wii U:

Total Play Time: 1760 hours
Titles Played: 153
Most Played:
1) Hyrule Warriors - 219 hours
2) Super Smash Bros. for Wii U - 128 hours
3) Xenoblade Chronicles X - 97 hours
Favourite Genres: Action, with everything else being fairly balanced.

I have no doubt my total play times will increase. I know for a fact these figures don't include internet purely because if we include internet, my Wii U usage would go up by another 5000 hours (no joke, 5131 hours and 10 minutes according to my Wii U Activity log).

Comparing some of these figures to my Switch is interesting:

Splatoon 1 vs Splatoon 2: 60 hours vs 290 hours. Definitely a difference when I owned two from the start as opposed to the first 1 year in.

Hyrule Warriors Wii u vs Switch: 219 hours vs 325 hours. Add on Legends from 3DS (147 hours) and you get 691 across all three. This is versus 55 hours for Age of Calamity.

Fire Emblem Awakening vs Three Houses: 264 hours vs 275 hours, with me still needing to do the fourth route.

Re: Fire Emblem Fates: Revelation And DLCs Will Also Disappear From The 3DS eShop

MS7000

@ThomasBW84 Amazon still sell new copies of Awakening for £40 usually; looking right now, it even has a slight discount at £37.

I only know this because I finally got a physical copy a few months ago after getting a digital copy for free as part of a promotion back in 2013 (Buy 3 of these 8 games, get a 4th for free as a download code). Nintendo doesn't do offers like those anymore...

Edit: Funnily enough, Echoes: Shadows of Valentia is £20 right now on Amazon as well.

Re: Soapbox: NSO Isn't Game Pass, But Nintendo Is Learning The Benefits Of Subscription Models

MS7000

@Astral-Grain You have options as a consumer, but you also need to take into account giving you what you're asking for is a bad business move for Nintendo.

It's a bad business move generally to do what I ask. =)

As you say, it is ultimately consumer will that decides the success of this model, but I just wish people would stop thinking it (subscriptions, digital, paid online) is inevitable.

Re: Soapbox: NSO Isn't Game Pass, But Nintendo Is Learning The Benefits Of Subscription Models

MS7000

@Astral-Grain Nintendo is no different than Disney here.

True. But referencing my earlier comments, NSO is but one example. I am aware Disney and other companies are no better, but that doesn't make it okay. I also mentioned earlier that this is great for the companies, but what does that do for us as consumers? And this goes back into what I was asking about why are we (not the companies, we) okay with this lack of choice?

I disagree that such alternatives are available legally. (Edit: This comment was surprisingly well timed given the situation with the Wii U and 3DS eShops... ****)
