Good to see SMTV in the charts. I don't actually have a copy yet as I am currently sorting out stuff for cream cracker season, but I will most likely be buying this as a birthday gift to myself in a few weeks time after pay day.
Saw this yesterday. They'll have to forgive me for thinking they are full of it and have not actually done it for noble reasons. Not to mention, if people are truly mounting dislike campaigns against small creators, they will find other ways of harassing, either via comments (if they are not disabled), or via other channels such as Twitter and other forms of social media.
Huh, I didn't realise Decadence released earlier in Japan. I thought it was to be a simultaneous release for some reason. Either way, that's another 20,000 converted to despair... assuming they are new players of course. =)
In terms of 2022, looking forward to Kirby and Advance Wars. Not too bothered about the rest. Even if I was excited for BOTW2, which I am still not sure about, I am not convinced that is coming out next year. Thankfully, WarioWare and Metroid Dread have been great so I don't feel quite as negatively as I did a year ago.
@HamatoYoshi I was going to say a broken clock is right twice a day, but I like your version better. =)
Regarding the rumour, "insiders" have been saying this on and off for a few years now. Maybe Nintendo are developing something, but I feel like it is pointless listening to these people. Sure, they can't control what Nintendo does; that should be more reason not to bother listening to them. It just leads to frustration when things don't happen.
"and I was convinced to send the card to them for an upcoming auction."
I saw that line and just frowned.
Misfortune aside, this is a pretty cool encounter. I am not sure if I would of wanted to sell the card if I were in his shoes but fair play if that is what he wanted to do. I do wonder if Miyamoto still has this guy's card.
@Ryu_Niiyama True, but you don't see them bringing back the Wii Play series now do you? =P
Or on a slightly more serious answer, what about the Wario Land series, that's sold more across all the games than Big Brain Academy? I know the answer is realistically that "Galaxy Brain School" (as I am affectionately going to call it) has more wider appeal due to its casual nature, but in truth, I thought this was a franchise that was going to stay as a relic in the past. It just feels bizarre to me that Nintendo have so many other franchises to pick from and this is what they picked.
I mean, Dread literally states in the beginning that Metroids were named after the Chozo word for "Ultimate Warrior" (and I could be fairly wrong, but I think this is also mentioned in other games?). Samus is not a Metroid, but the Metroid. When that guy on miiverse was asking "Y cant Metroid crawl?", he had already twigged. There is no need to change the series name; as long as Samus is present, the title works.
All that said, I am looking forward to the next game. =)
I am sure people think of this when they say there is always something to play on Switch, but I have to ask; how much of the stuff on the eShop is shovelware? Browsing the eShop for games sucks. I very rarely like looking through the sales page as there is so much junk that is normally on sale for 99p, it bloats the tab.
"While Skyward Sword on the Switch has been successful, it's still unsurprisingly a long way off Breath of the Wild, which has now 24 million sales around the globe."
Whilst I didn't like this port being full-price given the minimal improvements, it makes me sad that such a big gap exists between this and BOTW. As a Zelda fan, I liked BOTW, but I felt it was too different from what made a Zelda game, a Zelda game. It is also kind of why I am not really excited for the sequel because based on the trailers so far, I am not sure if they have addressed any of my problems with BOTW.
I was kind of hoping that sales of this and the Link's Awakening remake were going to be big signs to Nintendo that the older styles of Zelda shouldn't be forgotten when considering new games. They could still be depending on how well BOTW's sequel does, because I am not sure everyone who brought the first will buy the second, but we shall have to wait and see.
I feel like my comment from the other day fits well here:
"...we are no longer in the Wii U era where Nintendo needed to hold on to what customers they had. Not to mention, it wouldn't surprise me if more people joined groups for cheaper subscriptions; Nintendo won't care, they will still make more money.
I have long since accepted that Nintendo will never go back to free online or a VC service where you can buy and keep the games. Nonetheless, I have remained unsubscribed for the past few weeks and honestly? I am not missing the service."
Who knows, maybe this number will drop in the next few months as the expansion pass was only really announced towards the end of this financial period, or maybe the uptake of the expansion pass isn't as high as they like so despite having 32 million subs, they are all paying the lower tier. Maybe Nintendo will change the approach and actually improve the service.
-All 3DS except Pokemon X (but not Y), Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon
-All Wii except Wii Sports Resort, Wii Fit Plus, and Wii Party
-And a few from DS (New Super Mario Bros, Mario Kart DS, Brain Training, and SM64DS)
In terms of actually playing them instead of just owning, I have played all the Wii and Wii U games I own, but 3DS I picked up quite a few as a result of clearance sales (e.g Pokemon and Tomodachi Life). 3DS had a really good library, but I feel the Top 10 doesn't really reflect that. DS also has a similar problem. 3DS is also the one console where I played through a Pokemon game (Y), which is the only one I have played thus far as I don't feel a desire to return to it. At least I have the 3000 years meme.
"As for Nintendo, it'll probably be bemoaning the decisions to a) phone in its N64 emulation and b) release the pack a week before the Animal Crossing DLC. Without those errors, perhaps the current online chatter would have a slightly different tone."
I can't speak for others, but my reaction would certainly not be any different. If it is a good deal for you, then good, Nintendo have done the job. People might be annoyed you are supporting it, but I doubt anyone is going to hate you for it.
@Rayquaza2510 Bingo... but Nintendo have been running this "service" for 3 years now. I would of thought if any money was being invested, we would see the benefits by now.
@johnvboy It's cool if you got your money's worth out of it, but I can't say I had great experiences with the online. All I remember is disconnecting in Splatoon 2 and Smash Ultimate. Funnily enough, I remember doing the same in Splatoon 1 and Smash 4 on Wii U. Ar least I didn't pay for it on Wii U.
This is also a personal problem, but the AC DLC doesn't interest me either as New Horizons did not hold my attention. It does not seem as good a deal if you don't have New Horizons or like it, not to mention that like everything else, you don't keep it once it expires (although I do hear that items can be kept if on your own island).
@johnvboy Having reread your comments, my comments were regarding monthly as Clyde was saying monthly was the same as a cup of coffee.
Regarding weekly for family, it would be £1.15. Sure it is cheap. I don't feel comfortable paying it though. Even at 62p a week for individual, I still don't feel comfortable paying it. It is not about money; I would happily waste money on VC games if I knew I could keep them forever. But I don't see the point in constantly paying for something I won't use all the time, especially with the online being as terrible as it was when it was free.
@johnvboy With Clyde's original comment, I thought it was referring to an individual sub for the coffee comparison. Regarding the family sub, that is great, but then you have to go find a few other people to join your group, and arrange getting payments from the members of the group and it sounds like a lot of hassle for too little reward.
Nice, but unfortunately, we are no longer in the Wii U era where Nintendo needed to hold on to what customers they had.
I am not missing the service.
@Clyde_Radcliffe I mean, I would personally be questioning why you are buying such an expensive coffee anyway, but there you go.
Gave it a try though I don't have wired internet, but reasonably stable Wi-Fi, just for s***s and giggles. It felt like graphically, I was playing a Switch game with a sub 30fps. Control response was all over the place.
It may have looked worse than other consoles, but I feel at least it would of been worth playing if they did it properly.
@geox30 Probably my biggest gripe with all of this. I would love VC on Switch but realistically, it will never happen. But I hate the fact that we are expected to pay for online when the experience is as shoddy now as it was when it was still free.
I mean, to be fair, I would of been happy with Kazuya being the last character. He was the only character in the second pass who I actually liked and that is bearing in mind I have only ever played Tekken Tag Tournament 2 (other encounters were Street Fighter X Tekken and Project X Zone 2).
Not a fan of Sora myself, and definitely not of how he plays; he feels very floaty to me, but good job to everyone involved for making it work.
@BloodNinja Yeah, I have been waiting for it to hit one hour. It wouldn't surprise me if Terminal Montage did an animation once the new faster times start slowing down.
@BloodNinja Not sure if it is the current record, but I saw Dread with approx 82 mins.
Edit: Have been searching to see if I could find the video, but am struggling to find so I might of imagined it. Approx 87 mins seems to be the current record.
I think I have mentioned this before, but Other M was actually my first Metroid game. I remember liking the gameplay, even if it felt a bit clunky. The story was very... shrug. My favourite character in Other M was K.G Misawa with his two voice lines "Yes sir!" and "Got it!". Well, in all seriousness, Anthony was probably my favourite character in the game simply because he left the most impression. I liked Adam, but so many of his decisions are questionable in Other M. I remember seeing the Ridley cutscene and being very confused because I was fairly sure he was a series regular as I had heard of Metroid before; so seeing Samus' reaction kind of baffled me.
I then played Super Metroid, followed by Prime 3 Corruption. Playing both of those, I felt like those games did better on atmosphere and general exploration; not to mention the story felt more robust and interesting. Other M is probably my least favourite of the series, but I wouldn't mind playing through again if for no other reason than to laugh at the characters,
@Luigisghost669 I mean, I agree with what you say in principal, but Smash Bros Ultimate was a complete game when it launched. This isn't like Street Fighter X Tekken where content was on the disc. All the DLC you can buy (with the exception of a couple of Mii costumes) is brand new, and does not feature characters who were in previous games.
I brought both passes as I wanted all the content regardless, especially the music. I feel like I could of theoretically only just brought the first one as the only character I cared for of the second pass was Kazuya. Regarding Sora, I have no affinity with Disney, or affinity with Final Fantasy, so the last reveal was the equivalent of a cricket chirping to me. Squenix representation was very present in Ultimate. That said, no regrets getting both passes.

Already said this over at PushSquare, but no problems if they did port this over, as long as mainline Persona starts coming to Switch

@Ryu_Niiyama That's okay, I didn't think you were being snarky, and I apologise if my comment also came off as such. =)
