Re: Switch 2 Games Cost A Bit More Than You're Probably Expecting

Lone_Beagle

@cra1g0s I recently discovered the Citra and Lime3DS emulators...with these I can put my 3DS library up on a TV to play (while using the touchscreen of a handheld Android or Steam Deck clone). Man, so many of those games are amazing on the big screen...

Coupled with playing my WiiU games on Cemu on a PC, I am getting a bunch of play time with my old libraries.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition?

Lone_Beagle

I started a play through on Cemu before the re-master was announced. It is an amazing game in many respects...I love the scenery and the exploration, but I'm just not a fan of the mixing and matching all the different weapons and skell parts.

It does have a great story along with the scenery...in any event, I would think there could be a wide range of scores, based on how into the game the different reviewers are.

Re: Video: These Monitors Promise Big DS Potential, But Do They Work In Practice?

Lone_Beagle

I have been playing 3DS games on my handheld PC via Lime3DS...I have the main screen up on my 43" TV and the bottom screen on my touch screen on my device (a Loki Max, similar to a Steam Deck).

It really rocks playing Zelda: A Link Between Worlds and Kid Icarus Uprising on a TV screen...not sure I would pay this amount and have to fiddle around, but some of these older games absolutely deserve to have remakes, c'mon Nintendo!

Re: Mini Review: STALKER: Shadow Of Chornobyl (Switch) - Legendary Series Stalks Switch With A Solid Port

Lone_Beagle

Lovin' the game so far. I normally avoid FPS shooters on consoles, but with the gyroscope aiming I had to try this. Definitely need to monkey around in the option settings to find the best "feel."

@Smackosynthesis On the PC side, the consensus was that Call of Pripyat was the best. Shadow of Chornobyl isn't bad, and in some ways serves as a good intro to the series. This review was pretty spot on, if lacking in extra description.

Re: ICYMI: 'Nintendo Music' Has Spoiler Prevention, Here's How To Activate It

Lone_Beagle

@Bizzyb I never thought of it as a spoiler, but just recently I resolved to finish "A Link Between Worlds" (finally!)...liked the music so much I downloaded it, and started listening to it.

But then I realized I didn't want to hear the boss music until I had actually faced them in battle (let alone see the titles, lol).

So...I guess I like Nintendo being considerate and thinking of this.

Re: Feature: 10 Years Ago, Nintendo Launched The Very Best 3DS

Lone_Beagle

Size matters!

I started off with the original regular flame red 3DS, but that was too small and hurt my eyes & my hand.

I then traded that up to a red 3DS XL...still have that and the others I've collected along the way:
2. a Yoshi 3DS XL,
3. A Majora's Mask N3DS XL, and
4 & 5 are my two Ocarina of Time N3DS XL.

I always think I should sell one or two, but I can't bear to part with any of them, lol.

Re: Review: Natsu-Mon: 20th Century Summer Kid (Switch) - A Pleasant Vacation, If You're Patient

Lone_Beagle

@PessitheMystic The reviewer made some (in my opinion) sweeping judgments about the game, when it actuality the issues are more related to the outdated Switch hardware.

The game deserves to be judged on its merits; if there is a hardware issue that should be noted, but not necessarily counted as a negative to the game.

The Switch itself is over 7 years old; the chip and hardware design are even older. Game studios releasing games on PC and other platforms are likely going to find their game's performance hampered on the Switch, and that is just reality.

I have started playing this, so I haven't fully formed an opinion about the game. However, I disagree with listed "cons" :

1) I have no problems maintaing 60fps. Oh wait, I'm playing on my Steam Deck, lol
2) The 3D perspectives and models works great. I find nothing "muddy" about the colors or textures, but that could be because I am playing with a Steam Deck.

I also really like the whole "3D-ness" of the game. My only other game from this company was "Attack of the Friday Monsters" which was charming and very nicely done. I liked that games hand-painted backgrounds, but face it, that was a neat way of overcoming the 3DS hardware limitations.

Again, the Switch may have hardware limitations, but hopefully there will be further optimizations coming. Or, the Switch 2 will have more power. If you have a PC or Steam Deck (or similar), I'd highly recommend it!

Re: Rainbow Island Sequel 'Parasol Stars' Finally Gets Modern Console Release For Bargain Price

Lone_Beagle

I love Parasol Stars! But, when I saw, "bargain price" I thought like, USD$4.99.

10 bucks is a joke, I'm sticking with emulation.

Now, maybe if they put a bunch of the games together, like, Rainbow Islands, Bubble Bobble, Bubble Bobble II, and Parasol Stars, then I'd shell out $10. I'm guessing they are going to dribble them all out, one at a time, for 10 bucks a piece, smh.
