Re: The Switch Version Of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Gets Rated By The ESRB

@Heavyarms55 It's a great story based RPG, where your decisions have consequences. It is kinda like Skyrim, but with much better characters, and more plot driven. Not everybody's cup of tea, but it deserves a lot of the accolades that have been heaped on it.

I'm curious to see how they work the controls...the PC version used a lot of the keyboard...

Re: Deals: This 256GB Micro SD Card Is Dirt Cheap And Perfect For Your Switch

Lone_Beagle

I would not recommend something "cheap" if the quality is bad. If you lose your games & saves, how is that saving money?

Always buy memory from a name you can trust. I had a cheaper SD card go bad and almost lost all my vacation photos one time (to Angkor Wat!). Thankfully, I was able to recover them, but the card was definitely wonky. I've only bought SanDisk ever since.

Re: Nintendo Takes Legal Action On Prolific E3 Leaker Ahead Of Tomorrow's Direct

Lone_Beagle

@apoqalypse If you have info and you haven't signed an NDA, then you can leak all you want (the people who signed the NDA have the real problem). BUT Nintendo can still send you a cease and desist order, and force you to show up in a court (if you don't show, Nintendo will win monetary damages, so you "have" to show up).

So, you have two choices: either shut up (comply with the cease and desist order) or fight it, which would cast a minimum of $10,000, I would estimate. So, yeah...this is big corporate stuff here.

On the other hand, why leak something like this? This is all about us having fun, and wanting to be surprised (and all about them increasing their YouTube views). I view leakers like this as party-poopers (as opposed to legit whistleblowers)>

Re: John Vignocchi Leaves Gearbox And Joins Nintendo Of America

Lone_Beagle

@caljr_8760 @Heavyarms55 At first I was concerned because he came from Gearbox...but if he had to leave Disney because they disbanded their studio, and he went to Gearbox and jumped ship quickly...that is the mark of a smart person. Gearbox, while appearing "normal" on the outside, is a raging dumpster fire internally. He may not have known this before arriving there...Leaving Gearbox shows signs of being smart.

Re: Talking Point: Why Nintendo Is Right To Be Cautious With Mobile

Lone_Beagle

@Magician @magnumc500 You are (unfortunately) correct. While any sane person would want to pay one price, up front, and not have to deal with micro-transactions, the majority of people on mobile like the "freemium" model, and any company that ignores this is going to get the cold-shoulder from these casual players (which is a huge market!).

I think Nintendo should have a couple of games targeted to this market, to make the maximum profit, and then use some of that money for both a) independent, new phone IP, and b) good old-fashioned console and older IP, to keep us hardcore fans going.

It's ironic now...Iwata was concerned about casual gamers getting left behind...flash forward now about 10-15 years, and it is the hardcore gamer who seems to be getting ignored!

Re: Video: Can A Headstrap Really Fix Zelda VR And Labo VR?

Lone_Beagle

So, I love the idea about Zelda VR. In practice, the resolution is low, and (am I the only one with this problem) I can see the pixel grid...so it looks like I'm playing the game and a window screen is between me and the screen. Blah...

Waiting for that more powerful, higher resolution Switch...

Re: Nintendo 'Must Keep Up' With Cloud Tech Advances, But Sees Further Potential In Dedicated Hardware

Lone_Beagle

"while cloud gaming has enormous potential, it relies on a very strong network infrastructure and excellent reception"

For a lot of places, the infrastructure is not yet ready, and won't be anytime in the foreseeable future. We are going to be rocking dedicated hardware for quite some time (although I think companies are going to try to force digital downloads more and more).
