Even though NA looks classier, I prefer Europe

NA art ain't bad but I've always liked Phantom Hourglass's EU box art.

I have played this game many years ago I had so much fun, so much fun, so much fun. I will never forget that time. Europe / Japan version. Yess that 1 is better.

Europe / Japan is happy and fitting with the general tone of the game if I remember correctly. A good box art.

I remember as a child I had a dream one night about a Wind Waker sequel before Phantom Hourglass was ever annouced. So holding the European version in my hands when it finally released and looking at the cover which screamed "Wind Waker 2" was literally a dream come true

The EU/JP version is the one I went with, since it has one of the most important gameplay features on the front cover. It's also bright and colorful.

In comparison, the NA version looks generic and dull. Heck, even Link looks a bit bored on that cover! He's got a smile in the EU/JP version, but the NA version gave him a neutral expression.

NA really got done dirty on the box art for both Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks.

Europe all the way! The brown american covers are just awful. Iget the same feeling when I compare the Breath of the Wild
european cover with the american one, the latter looks so generic. (Although I guess since the japanese one is the same one EEUU choose its suppose to be the original)

NA one looks kinda typical and boring, so... PAL/JP one for me this week.

Sounds like a contradiction to me.

The EU cover is like “Nadia: the Secret of Blue Water,” while NA went full-on spooky “Treasure Island.” I like them both, but went with NA - mostly because that’s the one I bought years ago.

Is it me or can you sense a kind of lineage with the NA Zelda covers? I feel like they trend towards the ornate and muted colors since the gold cartridge days.

Europe/Japan it looks cheerful and bright. The North America one is so dully colored.

Both are good but I like the japan / europe more, the blue colour cover design is really great

I will admit I have some nostalgia for the US design because that's what I had, but I ended up voting for JP/EU.

Despite being used to the NA cover, I'm going with Japan/Europe this time. It pops with color and thus a decent background, plus I think it gives perspective players a better idea of what they're getting into. I might've swung the other way if not for NA's bleh sepia tones in comparison. Though I do like Link and Linebeck's dynamic better on the NA cover.

Surprisingly neither of these are any good

The Euro/Japan cover is arguably not a great image for a game cover. The characters are small and the composition is odd. However, it is colorful and conveys a lot about the game. The NA one may have better composition with the characters in the center with the game title underneath, but the background is rather boring. I prefer the Euro/Japan cover.

@Ooyah You have quite a few non-Zelda options nowadays. I haven't gotten around to Tunic yet, but I loved Death's Door.

I dunno, the Europe/Japan is very cliched I feel. NA is more interesting & unique

I like the European/Japanese one more for depicting what the game is like. The North American one isn't bad.

Europe/Japan for me (first time I've ever seen it). I rate this game 4/10. It was quite average & it got very boring after a little while. I forced myself to trudge through it to the end, though. I felt the same about Wind Waker HD on Wii U (only version I've ever played), although WW was a little more fun than PH. I'm willing to give WW another playthrough, though, to see if maybe my view of it will change. I just don't know if I'll ever get around to playing it again. The next Zelda I plan on playing is TOTK, but that may be quite a ways from now since I'm broke.

Europe/Japan for me. Never been a fan of the goldness of the North American covers.

Boxart says it all, captures the game perfectly.

@sdelfin Yeah, I look at the EU/JP cover and I can see the NA team being surprised that Link isn't front-and-center in the layout, which would have fixed a lot of design issues. And yet, I do find myself liking the bright colors and overall look of the EU/JP cover more... but it would've been easy to put Link in the center and still go with this overall idea.

The American one looks like a Zelda game, the Japan one looks like a poster for a TV show.

I only prefer the North American variant because the background color on the box is reminiscent of other Zelda titles. The European variant is more eye catching though.

As a fellow american, I hated when NoA put every zelda boxart with that gold background

At first I thought that NA was classy, but EU shows what the Phantom Hourglass adventure is all about, so that's nice

I had the EU version of spirit tracks and it's far better too.

The title of the game is The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. Only one box art fits that title, and it's the North American box art. The Europe/Japan cover doesn't make any sense until the game is played. Just looking at that cover, I have no idea what that has to do with the title. I love that the states got art that leaned into the narrative and title instead.

While my Nostalgia made me wanna pick the American one I had to give this one to the European/Japanese one it just better summarizes the game as like Wind Waker on the DS. American one doesn’t really hint at that.

I prefer the North American one. The other one screams boring spinoff IMO.
