Is it True that the game doesn’t load without a WiFi connection so if you try to play this in a flight you ate screwed

If there is one area Switch can beat Steam Deck it’ll be games like this. In Steam Deck you need internet to boot the game, same for games like Battlefront 2 even if playing single player.

So being able to play this, Madden etc portable on things like planes without needing internet will be great. I am worried Switch 2 games by EA will force the ‘Always Connected’ aspect on us

I feel like the golden era of gaming has come to an end. It was a long era, but I feel now we are in the era of Free to Play clones, that use the social media model to make money.

I miss the days of different consoles having different versions of a WWE game.

I feel they had an opportunity to do something unique with the Switch 2 version. Maybe embrace the arcade style of old like No Mercy or Smackdown but still have the main 2k series on Xbox, Steam PS etc

Would love Splinter Cell Blacklist - tried it for Steam Deck but the online requirement meant I refunded it

@Nintoz A full reveal isn’t far away now. The real question will it be Nintendo or someone on the manufacturing floor to reveal it?

Oh one thing to avoid that makes Steam Deck a pain to travel with, ensure games can play played offline without the need to be online.

I’m sure Switch 2 will do solid numbers but Nintendo seem to be dropping the ball with the announcement.

However they’ve obviously decided to let Switch have a last Xmas before announcing the new system so they’ve put themselves in a tight spot

If think Nintendo wants to get one more Xmas out the way to boost sales before announcing the system, which I get, but at this rate they’ll announce it to little to no excitement as we have already seen it through so many leaks

They are in danger of losing control of the narrative, as rumours etc get harder to shoot down the closer they are to the truth

I don’t think a Switch reveal hurts sales that much.

I actually expect a small bump in Switch sales as discounts for the console role in. My family and others were not well off as kids so I didn’t get a NES until the SNES was out because the cost came down

Interesting that the recent leak of the Switch 2 has the top USB-C that this will plug into, I assume.

So, that will mean we can expect a Mario or Wii Sports type game on launch and possibly packaged with the Switch 2 to sell the conept

Not sure. My first thought was a new mini console, made Dreamcast.
Then I thought could they release an updated Sega Game Gear? I don’t mean next gen, it would come installed with classic games, but just updated screen etc

@Vexx234 I feel like I’m a lot of those situations they delayed the game, but not as much as they would have liked and were still pressure to release an unfinished product

@AZYotes5013 I got the PS3 HD Collection on the Deck and runs like a charm.

If I had to pick, I would probably pick getting it for the deck just for the frame rate

It depends. I think there needs to be regulation in place to ensure that if you purchase a game, it is yours and can access it forever. No game should require internet to work (Steam Deck is great, but single player games needing an internet connection to play is absurd)
If those conditions are met, I am fine with it. If they aren’t then I will try and remain physical as much as possible

Phew… I am traveling in November and almost deleted this from my Steam Deck to create space

Like, are they moving on from this to focus on a new Mario Kart for a new console

However being a remaster rather than a port hopefully work has been done

@WhiteUmbrella Yeah, this is quite common. Take self checkouts at supermarkets replacing jobs, or machines in car factories.
It seems like when it is low paying jobs at risk nobody cares, it is modernization.
When it is rich or wealthy jobs suddenly it is the worst thing ever.

Looks alright. I might get it as a DC fan who would love either a remaster of the PS2 Justice League game or any Superman game.

Just odd that they had it almost complete and they just didn’t finish it. I do not believe there was not a deal to be made there that could have benefitted everyone

@Doomcrow I disagree. Yes, there will be the people who dip back in and out, but the game has a dedicated following who still mod and play it today and for those the ability to play online and on the go will be something special.
I still play through the game regularly, granted with modern control, and enjoy it every time.

However, I do get your point that there will be many who have not played this in 20+ years and will be in for a shock - which also ain’t helped by the lack of custom control options for the Switch apps

I am lucky enough to have got hold of the remaster that leaked, which is great.

I downloaded this for the Switch and just wish you could customize the controls on the N64 app to make the controls more like said remaster

Surprised they couldn’t figure a way to finish and release the leaked version for both consoles and allow multiplayer cross play as it is a fantastic update of you have managed to play it

You can’t win with portable FIFA at the moment. The Switch gets shafted with a copy and paste job and the Steam Deck has the issue that if you don’t have Wifi it doesn’t boot.
I get that games want anti-cheat software, but you should, heck it should almost be law, that single player, offline is playable without the need to connect.
I wish I had a list of every EA employee so I could treat them how they treat their customers. If one came in for a coffee, I would serve them an old one I warmed up - and if they tried to set at a table I would require them to show me two forms of ID and proof of address

For me, getting a Steam Deck is all about emulation of the games I grew up with and being able to play them on the go.
I feel like it should not be illegal if someone, let’s say, wanted to play WWF No Mercy, but weren’t born when it came out, so now just just can’t?
It’ll be like a movie that came out on VHS, but twenty years later it hasn’t been put on a streaming service and so if you don’t own a VHS player and the cassette you can’t watch.

But how would they release it? Like wouldn’t Nintendo still need to allow it to be on their store? So, I would assume, if they ignored the copyright, that it would still be banned for same reason as Advanced Wars

Like the sport or not, but I find it sad that Switch owners never got a Madden, Axis Football or even some other ‘Sim Style’ NFL game on the system.

This, so far, has gone in order of the reveal in the Nintendo Direct. That means either Goldeneye comes out after the remaining games or is getting some kind of special release date different from normal schedule

@LikelySatan If I were to guess I would say that is the point he is making that they live vicariously rather than through experience.

Well… that is a shame. EA games always feel a certain way, and not in a good way.
It is hard to explain, as Game uses animations, but EA games just feel like I am playing QuickTime events. Even Fallen Order it feels restricted when other games don’t.
They have a stiffness to them.

Crazy to think that there are some kids playing games today, who will be shocked to learn that there was once a time EA actually put effort in, like they actually tried.
