Re: Microid's 'Smurfs - Dreams' Looks To Serve Some "Serious Super Mario Vibes"

JeongersGaming

Heard some surprisingly decent things about these games but have yet to actually try one myself.

@Maubari Some people on this site seem to be trapped in the 90s they're still dogging on Sonic as Nintendo fans even when it's a complete non-sequiter from the subject matter. Bit weird. Like yeah imagine just randomly dragging Banjo-Kazooie in the comments of an article on a Spyro game or something lmao. I have to question the age of these people.

@RareFan completely ridiculous to say that all Sonic fans are furries. Braindead comment that you can flip on any property you don't like.

"People only like Mario games because they wanna sleep with him"

okay???

Re: Sonic's Third Movie "Takes A Lot" From Sonic Adventure 2, Says Producer

JeongersGaming

@LikelySatan @Martijn87 That is what they're doing. The director said Frontiers is their foundation for the next 10 years at least, and it's been recently reported that a direct sequel is coming. I wouldn't be surprised if we hear about it next year, Sega have finally started giving Sonic Team a bigger budget after Frontiers came out and they've apparently hiring a lot of new staff. The other big problem with the series has often been a smaller team with a tight budget being rushed to hit a deadline.

Re: More Sonic Game Rumours Surface Online After 'Sonic Toys Party' Leaks

JeongersGaming

@Not_Soos I do think Heroes has more to offer from a remake than Adventure 1 and 2. They reuse a LOT of level design, a remake could give the different teams their own levels.

SA1 and 2 on the other hand would be fine with a more Crash/Spyro approach, small quality of life tweaks but overall the same content from the originals, just new graphics.

Re: Switch Emulator Yuzu To Pay $2.4 Million To Nintendo & Cease Development

JeongersGaming

Here's the thing, since this always comes up whenever the topic is covered on this site - emulation is completely legal, this has been made clear in prior court cases. Can you use emulation to play pirated games? Yes, of course, but the emulation software itself breaks no laws by itself, this is why Nintendo has largely ignored lawsuits towards emulators despite all of their protests about them and has instead gone after people who hosted websites that allowed you to download ROMs, or the likes of Team Xecuter.

The issue with Yuzu is how it was monetised. If you wanted to run the latest version of the emulator you had to pay the devs via Patreon, and they were making A LOT of money (as much as $30K a month at peak), especially after Tears of the Kingdom leaked before release.

Unless other emulators attempt this same monetisation, I don't believe we'll see other attempts of litigation towards hobbyist emulation as a concept (is it even hobbyist when you're making 5 figures a month?).

Re: Nintendo's 'Play On Sale' Brings Up To 70% Off Select eShop Delights (Europe)

JeongersGaming

Smart thing to do with eShop sales is to prioritise any Nintendo published games you don't own. They get discounted so infrequently and it's always the same 30-33% off (except for a few Square Enix games they handled, I got DQ11 for half price).

With that said, I don't yet have any of the ones listed in the highlights except for Splatoon 3. Might be time for me to get Tropical Freeze.

Re: Three More Of Sega's Classics Are Being Revived, It's Claimed

JeongersGaming

@NinChocolate These would be in house published.

@KingMike @Arminillo there's layers to localisation, yeah some things won't directly translate, so you find a close alternative. The problem people are having with game and anime localisations are that the people working on them will just invent things of their own into the script.

See the character of Esty Erhard in the Atelier series, the localisation team decided to change her name to Esty Dee. Get it? Cause it sounds like STD? Sexually transmitted disease? That's funny right? Are you laughing yet? Please laugh.

Re: GTA 6 On 'Switch 2' Would Be "Very Tricky To Pull Off", Says Digital Foundry

JeongersGaming

@JokerCK Every video is technically made for attention and clicks, but regardless it isn't a "clickbait" video. They're spending approximately 40 minutes responding to a number of questions from their subscribers and giving their input, the Switch 2 question is one of several and isn't mentioned in the title/thumbnail etc. To know they mention the prospect beforehand would only happen by, for example, reading an article like this which focuses on that one specific part. They're not the ones baiting in this case.

Re: EA's FIFA Series Delisted On All Digital Storefronts Including Switch eShop

JeongersGaming

"As highlighted on social media, every FIFA game from 14 to 23 can no longer be purchased."

Besides the obvious fact that them losing the FIFA license means they can no longer legally sell games using the FIFA branding, didn't they already do this for older FIFA games shortly after the latest release came out?

I don't think you could buy any FIFA game before '23 on digital storefronts before this. Maaaaybe '22.

Re: Poll: Do You Prefer Zelda: Wind Waker HD's Bloom Lighting Or The "Flat" OG?

JeongersGaming

The bloom in HD is a little too 2005, back when developers would coat everything in bloom to make their games look more "HD"

Maybe if they tone it down a bit for a Switch version it would look far better, but the style is a complete change from the original intent. Considering how TP and SS had much more faithful remasters, I would like to see that applied to a new port.

Re: Early Tech Analysis Investigates Paper Mario Thousand-Year Door Switch FPS & Resolution

JeongersGaming

It's telling that most people needed this "analysis" to even notice It's a 30fps game. It was obvious to me watching it, as well as the fact that Colour Splash and Origami had the same target.

To say that because the GameCube version ran at 60, that the Switch version should also run at 60 is missing the point a bit. We are talking about a remake, the engine is new, the assets are completely rebuilt, etc. Because it's a remake, the timing based attacks will most likely be adjusted to fit the new target anyway.

Also it's crazy that some people play primarily on a Switch but will decide not to play certain games because the resolution isn't high enough for them.

Re: Takaya Imamura Expresses His Love For F-Zero 99, Awaits 'Revival Of The IP'

JeongersGaming

@GameOtaku I don't see this as being any kind of dead end is what I mean. It's an audience gauger I believe, and it's doing well so far - it's probably already the most played F-Zero game. People tend not to think about the bigger picture. You remember the announcement of Federation Force? All of the despair from fans about how they brought back Metroid after a period of absence to "desecrate" it? Yet as we now know, they had been developing Samus Returns at that same time for release the very next year, and were in the early stages of planning Prime 4 - as shown in FF's ending, followed by the subsequent announcement.

@theModestMouse Try not to be so damn miserable and rude to others all the time and maybe your world won't fall apart.
