Re: The First Switch OLED Comparison Video Has Surfaced

JeongersGaming

@Edwirichuu I think it comes down to an individual level. I got my Switch about two years ago, but I'm perfectly happy to get this model for the screen upgrade. Since my current one is still in pretty good condition, I can make back most of the money spent.

For me, sometimes playing in handheld can be annoying due to certain text and UI in some games being a bit hard to see. The bigger size will alleviate that. Plus I have very fond memories of the PS Vita and it's screen, so getting that enhanced contrast ratio and colour gamut back (and probably better considering how old the Vita is now) in my portable gaming sounds brilliant to me.

For other people I understand wanting to wait and see what the next Switch brings though, it's natural to want to make your purchases last as long as possible.

I can imagine people who started with the Lite will be much more tempted to upgrade.

Re: Uh-Oh, Nintendo Switch Online's N64 Games Might Be 50Hz In Europe

JeongersGaming

@russell-marlow I think the reasoning is because of the support for languages that aren't English, so for certain games you have to have the 50Hz version so French people can play in French and so on.

But just having the ability to swap between different regional versions like you suggest would be a more elegant solution for sure.

Re: Uh-Oh, Nintendo Switch Online's N64 Games Might Be 50Hz In Europe

JeongersGaming

@CharlieGirl In this case, the N64 games are the main feature. You pay an extra fee for them. But it's not much of an issue, just log in to the US eShop and download that version of the app. Though I suppose not everyone would know you can even do that, which can be a problem.

@Markiemania95 you're correct in both of your responses. It doesn't matter if you download the other region versions with an account that isn't subscribed to NSO, because the console checks which account you use when starting them up.

Re: The Super Mario Movie's Release Date And Cast Are Revealed

JeongersGaming

@CharlieGirl No it wasn't a gotcha.
You made claims, I asked you for proof of them since I've never heard of him saying anything negative about those groups of people. Maybe from your perspective it was a gotcha because you just made up those claims and knew you couldn't back them up when prompted, so you ask me to do the work myself so you can wipe your hands of it all? Maybe, maybe not. But I couldn't find that proof on my own after Google searching, so that's unfortunately not a good sign.

I did find this however.

https://www.insider.com/chris-pratt-defends-zoe-church-ellen-page-anti-lgbtq-2019-2

Nothing about him saying things like: "I can't stand gay... people..." or "man I really hate black people"

Instead it's "everyone is entitled to love who they want"

Again, I would like to see some proof of his alleged bigotry. Maybe I was missing something on my attempts to find out, but you were confident in your comments of what he's like, so you must have better info than I, so please show me.

Re: Random: This Lucky Switch Fan Received A Physical Copy Of Sonic Colors Ultimate One Week Early

JeongersGaming

@liveswired Sonic Colours Ultimate is also visually improved over the original to a degree not seen with Skyward Sword's remaster. SS is mostly the same, with some AI enhanced textures here and there and a new UI but it sticks pretty close to the original graphics, and I think it even uses the same engine. Colours Ultimate is on a new engine (original used some proprietary Nintendo stuff, ruling out it's use for a multiplatform release) and features new textures throughout, a modern lighting engine, some improved models, etc. I'd say the improvements put it almost on par with the graphics of Sonic Forces, which had a pretty half baked Switch port - 720p graphics that are worse than the PC's lowest settings, and it still couldn't do 60fps.

Ultimate however looks virtually the same as on PS4 from what I've seen, aside from the framerate, and there's no guarantee reducing the graphics would have achieved 60fps either.

Re: Fatal Frame: Maiden Of Black Water Adds New Character Costumes On Switch

JeongersGaming

@TheFrenchiestFry @Jackpaza0508 No, those costumes aren't in this version. The Japanese website says
*Yuri ‘Swimsuit’ and Fukaba ‘Gravure Swimsuit’ from the Wii U version are not included in this game.

https://www.gamecity.ne.jp/zero/maiden/

It's in Japanese but you can Google translate it, it's near the bottom of the page inbetween the two cero d ratings.

Re: WayForward's BloodRayne Betrayal: Fresh Bites Sinks Its Teeth Into Switch Next Month

JeongersGaming

@LillianC14 For the vast majority of games on PlayStation you get both versions.

For why it says both PS4 and PS5, but just Xbox on the press release, it's probably a platform holder thing, where Microsoft considers Xbox to be a family of systems, so it's not necessary to list your game as releasing on the One or Series, whereas Sony treats the PS5 as more of a separate console.

Re: Takashi Iizuka Admits The Sonic 2022 Reveal Was Probably A Bit Too Early

JeongersGaming

@TheFrenchiestFry And people still think they throw all of their franchises under the bus in favour of Sonic. But they've been giving Sonic budget games for a whole decade now, while other franchises like Yakuza, Persona, the western/PC studios have been getting bigger and bigger. It's not like the 2000s where we got 2-3 Sonic titles a year either, we barely get 1 a year these days.

Re: Takashi Iizuka Admits The Sonic 2022 Reveal Was Probably A Bit Too Early

JeongersGaming

@Alpha008 Though it's a double edged sword, since some of them are already expecting a disaster because it was a CG teaser with no gameplay, despite that being the norm for Sonic regardless of the quality. I think Mania and the 3 Boom games are the only ones that were announced alongside gameplay.

Some of the hardcore fans and "sonictubers" are a combination of impatient and nervous/pessimistic, not entirely their fault but they jump the gun too much imo.

But overall, yeah it would've been way worse if they didn't show anything.

Re: Random: The Internet Is Dunking On Space Jam 2's Game Boy Cameo

JeongersGaming

"But in our interpretation of the scene, the kid is saying that his dad got him a Game Boy Color, and therefore LeBron can have his old, crappy, non-color one. That's still rather generous, but not the egregious error that it first seems."

It's not generous at all, that's literally what happens. The assumption that they mistook a DMG for a colour makes no sense, why would the kid give LeBron his new Game Boy? Why would LeBron throw it in the trash if it literally isn't his? It's so obvious.

Re: Nintendo Switch OLED Screen: Why Is OLED Better Than LCD?

JeongersGaming

It's also worth stating that screen burn in is not as much of a problem as it used to be. Even then, my OLED Vita, which uses one of those earlier screens, never had burn in after many years. Same thing with my newest phone, no burn in after a year, and that is with a newer panel. I wouldn't stress too much about it, especially on a handheld display - you won't be having the screen on for as much as you would on a TV.

@rjejr Oh-led is the common way to say it as far as I know, the other way is just a bit too clunky you know?

Re: Sonic The Hedgehog's Voice Actor Reassures Fans He's Here To Stay

JeongersGaming

@SwitchVogel His contract was about to expire and the new Netflix series is going to have it's own original cast. It doesn't take much effort to come to the conclusion that the cast thought their time was up (it wasn't just Roger) - look at what happened with Sonic X. They likely decided to announce they were stepping back rather than let themselves get fired, but later behind the scenes things got worked out and the old cast was able to reaudition and get new contracts signed.
