Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Sonic Frontiers

Not bad scores, save for like 3 negative ones listed on Metacritic. Oh dear, doesn't seem to be the bloodbath that some people were weirdly hoping for.

Even now there's people in denial mode. Fair enough if you just personally don't like 3D Sonic but why are you praying on its downfall lmao.

I've played it for a few hours on Switch. It's fun, some jank and Ubisoft Game-ness, but overall I've had a good time with it so far.

The Switch version is a little fuzzy and has noticeble pop in, though nothing that out of the ordinary for an open world game on this platform. Frame rate was acceptable enough, didn't drop too much.

Re: Sonic The Hedgehog's Lifetime Sales Speed Past 1.5 Billion Units

JeongersGaming

@Dizavid It's the mobile games.
Sonic Dash alone accounts for 500 million of that number (based on reports from last September, definitely even higher post Sonic 2). Sonic Dash 2 also has at least 100 million downloads based on Google Play alone, plus the mobile version of Forces getting over 50 million on Android - iOS likely doubles those numbers. The ports of Sonic 1, 2, CD, 4 and the other miscellaneous mobile games would add around another 100 million too.

By comparison most FF games on mobile are under 1 million, Brave Exvius an exception at 10 million - XV A New Empire too (somehow), but Square gave that license out so I'm not sure if it counts.

The numbers have been approximately doubled with mostly free to play apps, but they are technically correct I suppose. They earn money from every player, either via adverts or MTX so it's just as valid as a console game purchase in their eyes.

Re: Sonic Frontiers Reveals Ending Theme Song 'Vandalize' By One Ok Rock

Man I love One Ok Rock

@Aurumonado they do. They did the theme for Team Sonic Racing, they just aren't as prominent as before, but they always used other bands. Can't really say why they aren't featured as much now though, could be scheduling issues. The singer is a member of some other groups too, and they aren't making Sonic games at the same pace so less opportunities.

Re: Random: Bob Hoskins Didn't Know Super Mario Bros. Movie Was Based On A Game

@Aya-chan @Rainbowfire @Shredderlovespizza Not that hard to believe. Hoskins was a middle aged man in the early 90s when gaming was still in a period of relative infancy and was primarily enjoyed by children and teens. To compound this, he's an Englishman. If you were gaming in the UK during that time, it was more likely to be on a microcomputer like the Amiga and if you did have a console it was much more likely to be a Sega system. Mario was not the biggest thing in the world at the time, he was popular for sure, but not to the same degree as in North America and Japan.
