@steely_pete The language they use is a pretty blatant clue. They only talk about creating "videos", no movie studio would use that term to describe feature films.
Can't stand American Classic Sonic and his never changing facial expression. Europe has the best game logo, and perhaps the best cover here, but I would say the Japanese PC cover is the coolest.
Not bad scores, save for like 3 negative ones listed on Metacritic. Oh dear, doesn't seem to be the bloodbath that some people were weirdly hoping for.
Even now there's people in denial mode. Fair enough if you just personally don't like 3D Sonic but why are you praying on its downfall lmao.
@Gex Yeah it can go either way. An embrago being a day or two before release isn't always a bad sign. Having the embargo be on the exact day of release is a more troubling sign, which happened with Boom.
@Dizavid >Does Sonic "feel" fun to grind and platform with? Yeah, the controls are fairly snappy and fluid. I've not beaten the game, but it's been enjoyable so far. No masterpiece but a solid game.
I've played it for a few hours on Switch. It's fun, some jank and Ubisoft Game-ness, but overall I've had a good time with it so far.
The Switch version is a little fuzzy and has noticeble pop in, though nothing that out of the ordinary for an open world game on this platform. Frame rate was acceptable enough, didn't drop too much.
This is being misreported. The super game isn't a singular title, but an initiative of multiple high end AAA releases with global simultaneous launches.
@Dizavid It's the mobile games. Sonic Dash alone accounts for 500 million of that number (based on reports from last September, definitely even higher post Sonic 2). Sonic Dash 2 also has at least 100 million downloads based on Google Play alone, plus the mobile version of Forces getting over 50 million on Android - iOS likely doubles those numbers. The ports of Sonic 1, 2, CD, 4 and the other miscellaneous mobile games would add around another 100 million too.
By comparison most FF games on mobile are under 1 million, Brave Exvius an exception at 10 million - XV A New Empire too (somehow), but Square gave that license out so I'm not sure if it counts.
The numbers have been approximately doubled with mostly free to play apps, but they are technically correct I suppose. They earn money from every player, either via adverts or MTX so it's just as valid as a console game purchase in their eyes.
@Kyloctopus SMT and Persona have always been considered separate IP. Atlus West used the SMT branding on the PS2 Persona games in their localisations is all.
Odyssey 2 would be great but I feel that a little too much time has passed, Galaxy 2 wasn't long after 1; 3D Land to 3D World; the NSMB games came out in quick succession, etc.
Something new after all this time would be the best option.
@mezoomozaa To be nice and not throw shade on Helena. It's not professional for a company to get into the weeds of these things, so they go with the political "there were overlapping circumstances that made it difficult for her return".
@Krull Honestly, it's funny because I usually hate pixel smoothing, but for whatever reason I like the implementation here. I suppose it fits the painting look of the key art, and it helps that the HUD isn't affected, unlike when you filter an emulation and everything gets hit with the smoothing brush.
It's so funny to me how some 4chan leak from 2019 that nobody believed spelled out the whole game, right down to each island having a Super Sonic boss fight.
@RupeeClock periodically available, presumably with a new cyberspace themed form for the final boss.
@Aurumonado they do. They did the theme for Team Sonic Racing, they just aren't as prominent as before, but they always used other bands. Can't really say why they aren't featured as much now though, could be scheduling issues. The singer is a member of some other groups too, and they aren't making Sonic games at the same pace so less opportunities.
@Glrd Nintendo have been saying that for the last few years at this point though. We're a few months away from the 6th anniversary of the Switch, definitely not the halfway point. A new console is 3 years away at maximum.
@Aya-chan @Rainbowfire @Shredderlovespizza Not that hard to believe. Hoskins was a middle aged man in the early 90s when gaming was still in a period of relative infancy and was primarily enjoyed by children and teens. To compound this, he's an Englishman. If you were gaming in the UK during that time, it was more likely to be on a microcomputer like the Amiga and if you did have a console it was much more likely to be a Sega system. Mario was not the biggest thing in the world at the time, he was popular for sure, but not to the same degree as in North America and Japan.
@Friendly I'm confident in saying they won't. This is a different Nintendo from those days when Iwata ran the company where they would take risks on such unique hardware. They're going to stick with the hybrid model as long as there's a market for it.
@Slowdive This makes it clear that this guy is a massive wetwipe. Not that Origins doesn't have issues, but he's very dramatic and emotional, blowing things out of proportion.
@Anachronism @twztid13 @Kirby_Girl @Greatluigi @Sakisa it's almost certainly nothing to be concerned with. "In game purchases" is a deliberately vague term, and can mean anything, even if a game doesn't have any actual DLC and just takes you to the eShop to buy other games (Kirby) or a Switch Online sub.

@StarPoint it's fairly standard practice in film.

Re: Review: Resident Evil 2 - Cloud Version - If This Is Your Only Way To Play, It's Not A Bad One
I wonder how much work would be needed for native ports, now that the RE Engine has games on Switch.

@BakaKnight Yeah I downloaded the DLC after the tutorial and still got the cosmetic skin, which was the only thing I wanted anyway.

@Debbiee You'll have to wait for the next game for that.

Re: Jun Senoue Isn't Involved In Composing Music For Sonic Frontiers
@Mauzuri Don't think there's anything to worry about from what we've heard. This is the main theme for the first island.
https://youtu.be/0A46afjporI
Then there's the cyberspace music which sounds as expected from a Sonic game.
Re: Random: You Can Now Walk Down Guildford High Street In No Man's Sky
Looks dead on to the real thing.
Re: Nintendo Announces A Special Direct Presentation For Super Mario Bros. Movie
Looks sick. Can't wait for the trailer. I think people are in for a surprise considering how down people are on it.
Re: Nintendo Launches Official Website For Newly Acquired 'Nintendo Pictures'
@Dev9417 I think some people are just hoping they'll be producing feature films out of a distaste for Illumination.

Re: Random: Switch eShop 'Team Picks' Logo Looks Awfully Familiar
@Slowdive I could also imagine a design where they merge the Switch and Selects emblems. Would look kind of dope.
Re: LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Galactic Edition Announced, Out November 1st
@AstroTheGamosian almost as bad as Skyrim because of 1 re-release.
Re: Video: Digital Foundry's Technical Analysis Of Splatoon 3 On Switch
@TheCrabMan wow I can't believe he personally told you these things.
Re: The Karate Kid TV Series Cobra Kai Is Getting A Second Video Game
Looks to be more ambitious than the first. Higher quality visuals and it's fully 3D rather than a belt scroller.
Re: Get Ready For A Mario + Rabbids Update At Ubisoft Forward Later This Week
@strollin_stu not much, if anything.
Re: Random: GlaDOS Actress Really Wants Valve To Make Portal 3
@HeadPirate I had no idea that she had some level of ownership. Really interesting.

@Aurumonado they do. They did the theme for Team Sonic Racing, they just aren't as prominent as before, but they always used other bands.
