I think I'd be more excited for this if we hadn't had at least two other high profile racing games on S2 already. But I'm sure that won't stop others having fun
Had my eye on this for a while and from these samples, it's not a disappointment. Exciting!
Too close to MP4 release to shadow drop 2 and 3 now. I suspect 2 will make it to NSO in 2026. 3 might have to wait until they get around to releasing Wii games on NSO. Which sounds unlikely before DS games so... 2027 maybe?
Looks good to me gameplay wise and that's more important than character design. Who plays this kind of game for the characters anyway? They look ok to me, better than some of the slop live service games are pushing.
I'm enjoying it overall. I hadn't even thought about the lack of a map so obviously not that big of a deal to me anyway.
I've had precisely one crash and one instance of clipping out of the level. Concerning, but not "broken" and actually kind of weirdly authentic compared to games 20 years ago.
My biggest gripe are the bosses. Boring, damage sponges.
I don't know how Sega could look at the very positive reception for Mania and decide not to do a follow up. Superstars was fine and I commend them for going all in on an all new 2D Sonic, but they should have trusted Whitehead and co to make it, it would have had that extra magic that Mania had.
The dude is a lone developer. He should do whatever he wants and not be hounded for doing so. Making games is hard enough without having to deal with entitled pr*cks on top of that.
I'm surprised this hasn't happened before. Multiple games disappear from Playstation Plus every month. Maybe Nintendo, to their credit, insist on longer term licenses?
40k? Don't get ripped off folks. I'll sell you a switch 2 for half that price. As long as you don't mind waiting until release day. And that it comes shaped like a Switch 1.
Sure, NSO might get shutdown one day, but it will just be replaced with another official way of playing the games on future hardware, so NSO disappearing is highly unlikely to mean these games are gone forever.
Your VC purchases on the other hand are tied to your 3DS, Wii or Wii U. What's going to happen when your hardware dies (and it will die one day)? Gone forever...
It is kind of weird that everywhere does GOTY lists in December and not January when all the games for the previous year and have been released and people have had a chance to play them.
I was looking for a Metroid Prime artbook for Christmas so while this is obviously late for that, it should make a great birthday present next year instead!
That's quite the visual update, even if some of it is a bit jarring.
I'd be interested to hear if it has any QoL features, and if the button layout can be customised. I'm not sure when I'll get this but I've wanted to give the first game in the series another go for ages.
I started the game tonight and I noticed this too! It throws me off. I probably will get used to it but right now it doesn't feel natural, it requires just that little bit too much concentration.
There will definitely be cheaper physical preorders available at some point but if you like digital, it's cheaper than the £49-59 these will be on the eShop.
I hate to say it but... I think we're going to see a bunch of stuff we already saw at Summer Games Fest. 3rd party titles for Switch. Like Lego Horizon.
At the end of the day, there's no getting away from the facts.
Everything breaks eventually. Nothing lasts forever. Joy cons that get used alot, break faster. You can't compare Joy Cons to older Nintendo controllers. It's like comparing a bicycle to a car. There's far more things that can go wrong with a Joy Con than a SNES controller. It also explains the price hikes. Consumers/Developers want more functionality from their controllers. That comes at a price.
I hate to sound like I'm making excuses and I hope Nintendo go even further to test their hardware durability for Switch 2. But trying to sue Nintendo because "stuff breaks" was never going to work.
Looks good but not seeing the Sonic Adventure comparisons. Looks much more like boost era Sonic to me, Generations, Colours and Forces gameplay of running fast on a road. There's Sonic Heroes vibes too. But not so much Adventure in my opinion.
There are many things I loved about TotK, and some things I thought it did better, but overall I think BotW is the better game. Both outstanding though.
I also made a 40 level 8 world "claasic" game in Mario Maker 2. I spent months on it rather than years though. I'm proud of it even if it ain't a "Mario Bros 5".

Re: 48 Switch 1 & 2 Games You Should Check Out In The eShop 'Halloween Sale' (Europe)
Another sale, another NintendoLife list with 13 Sentinels at the top! It's like a tradition at this point.
But seriously, hope everyone finds a cool new game.

My wife loves these games and was looking for more so this is great news for her.
Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Checking Out Switch Online's Virtual Boy Service?
I'm interested in trying it one day but not rushing out to buy an expansion pass and peripherals.
Re: Stardew Valley Creator Announces Version 1.7 Update
Looking forward to trying this out on Playstation Plus. If I like it enough I might get the Switch version for convenience.
I wonder if he financed this latest update with the money he got from licensing this for PS+? I assume that's how these things work.

Re: Nintendo's Switch Online Playtest Program Returns, Includes Switch 2 Support
@LazyDaisy Every game ever made gets playtested. Many times. They're just not normally public events like this one.
Re: Third-Party Launch Games On Switch 2 Reportedly Sold "Very Low Numbers"
The article misses one more important reason: there's only a few million Switch 2's in the world so far.
Were these third parties expecting to sell 10 million on a console with an install base of 3-5 million?
Re: Capcom Spotlight Announced For Next Week, Here's A Teaser Trailer
New Megaman game pretty please?
Re: Stardew Valley Creator Open To Sequel, But Admits Updates Are "Much Easier"
@AstroTheGamosian Those games have a studio of people behind them. Stardew is one guy.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones
50/50 after 1009 votes. I think that's fair as this was a tough one. I went with the US/EU one just because the colours are bit more vibrant.
Re: Three Sega Genesis / Mega Drive Games Have Been Added To Switch Online's Expansion Pack
The Megadrive box arts always bring on a wave of nostalgia. Ahhh.
Re: Where To Pre-Order Nintendo Switch 2
I preordered mine from Amazon UK last week. They've been available from other retailers for days...

Aaaaaand they're sold out already.
Re: Rumour: GameCube Revival Planned For Nintendo Switch Online
A Gamecube controller patent could just be for a new Smash game. Expectation management people!
Hope it's true though.

Re: Poll: Which Pokémon Game Really Deserves A Remake Next?
Pokemon Stadium 3!
I'd take a 2nd gen rerelease of Soul Silver though.

Splendid. I'll take ten.

It sold badly because most have played it already. I suspect that has more to do with it.

Bizarre statement considering the end product. Nothing wrong with Okami in my opinion.
Re: WayForward Is Reviving Its GBA Game 'Sigma Star Saga' For Modern Platforms

Re: Back Page: The Best Cows On The Nintendo Switch

"Well done" Cow says as his friend grins in the background. Thank you cows. I appreciate you, even if Nintendo Life doesn't.
Re: Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster Series For Switch On Sale, 20% Off Every Title & Bundle
Personally, I'm waiting to see if these will be playable on Switch 2. Avoiding digital Switch 1 purchases until we know more.
Re: Don't Expect A Remake Of Final Fantasy 6 Soon, If Ever
They said the same about FF7R
Re: Talking Point: Would You Prefer 'Super Mario Odyssey 2' Or A Totally New 3D Mario?
Unpopular opinion, but I think I'm ready for a new 2D Mario. The last all new one was on the Wii U.
I would however, not like it in the "New" style. I'd like to see a different style, or even the return of something like the Yoshi's Island look.
Of course, I'd take a new 3D game too.

Re: Feature: Rayman Is Back In 'Mario + Rabbids Sparks Of Hope' - So Is He Actually Cool Now?
I always thought Rayman was kind of cool so off you pop NL. There's several Nintendo first parties I'd rather not play over Rayman Origins or Legends.
