@jrt87 You don't know the fanbase very well if you think they think any Sonic game, especially mainline 3D ones, are GOTY contenders 😂 They just hope it'll turn out "not bad" or perhaps, even "Good enough".

There's probably a few who get that excited, but the majority know Sonic games often turn out deeply frustrating. But we live in hope that the good will outweigh the bad in each release. Occasionally it happens (Colours, Generations, Mania). But usually not.

A little disappointing, but intrigued to hear the new stuff from Jun.

Not listed here is Shin Megami Tensei V for £33. Don't think that's been in the 33% off sale before. Definitely worth it if you haven't got it already. Big game.

Would like a Dreamcast Mini and a proper GameGear Mini (not those expensive key chain versions).

Then again, in the case of DC games, I already have a fair few that I bought for pennies on Steam so it's not the end if the world.

I'm pleased to see Sonic looking like he has some control over what he's doing. Agree this looks like an overworld. I'm still intrigued for now.

If it was something Four Swords related, I'd expect, y'know, four options. So I'd say Ages/Seasons remakes by the studio that did Links Awakening for Switch. It would make sense for them to move on to the other Gameboy Zeldas next.

The youngest game in my top 10 favourites is nearly 20 years old. I should set myself a challenge to find a top 10 from the last 10 years or something.

@carlos82 This was my point exactly. Surely removing Tails actually makes the Sonic 2 special stages harder! Any rings he finishes with are a bonus and would have been missed otherwise.

I'm not sure you solve your console's chip shortage problems by releasing new, more complicated, more expensive, more chip-hungry hardware. But I don't think that will stop them launching Switch 2 for Christmas 2023.

@gaga64 @moodycat Dimps made Sonic 4 along with Sonic Team. Dimps also made Advance/Rush before that so... take that however you want.

Hoping for discounts on No More Heroes 3, Triangle Strategy or Shin Megami Tensei V. That would be nice.

If it counts, it's Star Fox Adventures. It's not over in a few hours like traditional ones.

Licensing baby! That's why we've not seen these games yet. And why we may never see them and a bunch of others too. Unrealistic expectations.

Tales of Vesperia for that price is a bargain for those who haven't played it before.

@Shredderlovespizza Nothing odd about it. Why put their games on Nintendo's service for a fraction of the price (though licensing to Nintendo) when they can sell them individually on Steam for more.

It won't be Breath of Duality. And the idea that it has to have Breath in the title at all because it's a sequel... remember, the prequel didn't have breath in its title.

"Harmless" was how a friend described the first film. I suspect the same will apply to this sequel. I'll watch it and I'll probably enjoy it.

Oh wow. I'd forgotten about Freedom Planet! It was very good so fingers crossed for the sequel.

Wave 1 in general was very good. If the remaining waves are this good, that price was an absolute bargain.

People have a problem with the baby doll eyes but not the giant, anime eyes which are even more unrealistic?
On the plus side, everyone in this comment section doesn't seem to have a problem with any of this. What a non issue.

There are a lot of cutscenes, but the gameplay is sound. Fire Emblem Three Houses was also full of talking don't forget and I'd argue the writing in Triangle Strategy is better, at least so far.

Everyone took a dump on Legends before even trying it. And loads of people ended up enjoying it. So let's wait and see huh? I think Gen 9 is looking alright and they've got 9 months to finish it. Presumably they've been working on this since Sword and Shield so I'd hardly call it rushed.

I was sceptical but that first year convinced me quite quick. 2017 was a great first year and I honestly wonder if it hadn't been for that (and having THE pandemic game that was Animal Crossing in 2020) I'm not sure if it would have been this successful. Switching (pardon the pun) to one hybrid console and producing all your games for that was a bold move that paid off.

They could perhaps scratch people's racing itch with a new Diddy Kong Racing and F-Zero, then save MK9 for Switch 2? Probably wishful thinking but I'd much prefer that then just another MK on Switch. We have a perfectly great MK on Switch already.

I've been saying this could be a thing for some years.

I should think so yes. It's their biggest game of the year, unless something like Mario Odyssey 2 is in development. BOTW2 be there big Christmas release in November and they'll delay everything else before they let that slip.

Man this list is all over the place! As are all "of all time" lists these days. Too much time has past, too many games, too many different generations, recency bias. They're pretty useless. But still amusing to read.

When I hear "Game Developer", I think of a team rather than individuals. A programmer, an artist, a musician, a writer. They're all part of a game development team, but I'd describe the individual by their expertise rather than lumping them all in as "Game developers".

Beating those games with just his chin? I'd struggle with 3 hands!

November '22 as Nintendo's big Christmas release makes a lot of sense to me. Unless COVID messes up development!

Anyone who calls this a bad year doesn't remember the REAL bad years (Wii U, late GC era). This wasn't their best Switch era year though. Probs a 7 for me.

My playtime nosedived in April when my son was born. I am totally unsurprised.
