Re: Random: Ash Ketchum's OG Voice Actor Reflects On "Devastating" Moment She Was Fired

Handy_Man

I have met Veronica at two different conventions, one in 2017, and another in 2023. She somehow remembered my face when I saw her again in 2023, as she was also at a screening of Mewtwo Strikes Back and did a Q&A session at a theater in California, days after I saw her at the 2017 convention. She is very kind and still has a ton of passion for her role as Ash Ketchum. I was born during Pokémania hype, so I always hear Veronica in my head when I think of Ash’s voice. I wish her the best in her future endeavors!

Re: Freedom Planet 2 Locks In An April Release Date On Switch

I can’t believe that it needs to be clarified that a Boss Rush mode will be included at launch instead of through a patch later. Features in a game have gotten to a point where it may come in an update, or not, or be promised and never materialize. The video game industry has created serious trust issues with its consumers. I miss the GameCube and before era where we didn’t have to worry about things like this. Nice to know that a Boss Rush mode will be included regardless.

Re: Pokémon TV App Is Being Discontinued Later This Year

Handy_Man

I wish the Pokémon anime was more accessible, but I’m glad that the Pokémon TV service went on as long as it did. I’m grateful to have ben born just in time for PokéMania, and I’m glad that I got to see Ash’s journey from beginning to end as it happened live. Ash becoming world champion was actually one of the leading motivators for me going on a self-improvement journey in 2023, and his actions will continue to drive my life forward. Hopefully we can get DVD and Blu-Ray box sets of the Ash Ketchum saga. Gotta binge it all!

Re: E3 Has Been Cancelled, Permanently

Handy_Man

I went to E3 2017, 2018, and 2019 when they made those events available for the public. I am very grateful I got to go during its last three years. I wish the best for everyone at ESA who made these events possible.

Re: Sonic Superstars' Sales Were 'Slightly Weaker' Than Sega Had Anticipated

Handy_Man

The game does not really innovate the Sonic franchise too much. Generations already had Classic Sonic gameplay rendered in 3D, and Mania successfully brought Classic Sonic into the modern day with no strings attached. Sonic Superstars simply feels too much like its predecessors to really push the franchise forward, making it a bit too safe. The boss fights are also atrocious, and they significantly bog down the pacing of the game.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give WarioWare: Move It?

Handy_Man

I found the motion controls to be unresponsive sometimes. Most notably, the control method with the IR camera was frustrating every time from my experience. The game barely gives you any time to prepare your hand to face the IR sensor, and the IR sensor itself may not even pick up on what you’re trying to do. It was also sometimes confusing on which direction or angle you were supposed to hold joycons in, as in face up or face down. Overall, Move It has good ideas, but if a veteran WarioWare player like me can get confused, then I don’t really think this should be someone’s first WarioWare game in my opinion. I beat the main story in a few hours and have no desire to keep playing, whereas I would play other installments like Twisted and Touched for longer. I give Move It a 6/10.

Re: ReedPop Will No Longer Organise E3 As ESA Looks To Reinvent Future Shows

Handy_Man

I know E3 was not always at the LA Convention Center, but it really feels like its home base to me. I’m grateful I got to go in 2017, 2018, and 2019. With that said, if it’s no longer in Los Angeles, then I’m not coming back. E3 feels like a corpse with makeup at this point, it’s sad that it has come to this. I do not feel optimistic about E3’s future at all at this point, if it even has a future.

Re: Random: Scripts For Cancelled Pokémon Anime Episodes Recovered By Fans

Handy_Man

I remember being so excited for the Team Rocket vs. Team Plasma two parter during early Black & White, only for the episodes to be cancelled less than a week before airing. Very unfortunate timing with the earthquake that happened around then. I was wondering for over a decade on what went down in these episodes, I’m very grateful that this information has been preserved!

Re: Mini Review: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass Wave 4 - The Brand-New Track Is An All-Time Great

Handy_Man

Does it bother anyone else how anti-gravity is seldom featured in these tracks? The only DLC tracks that have it are Boo Lake, Merry Mountain, Sky High Sundae, Rock Rock Mountain, and 3DS Rainbow Road. Most of the tracks that have it are from wave 3, and no tracks in wave 1 or 4 feature it. I was especially hoping to see Wario Colosseum, as that would be a perfect track to feature anti-gravity, but I feel like Waluigi Stadium stole its spot.

Re: Ash's Pokémon Send-Off Will See The Return Of Brock And Misty

Handy_Man

I was fortune enough to have been born shortly before the Pokémon anime began. Ash feels like a friend I’ve known my whole life. I’m really excited to see how these 11 episodes wrap up his story, and to see his friends one last time.

@FirstEmperor

Misty got a new bike in the Gotta Catch Ya Later episode.

Re: Video: What's It Like Attending The Game Awards In Person?

Handy_Man

This was my fourth year attending The Game Awards in person myself. I previously went to the 2017, 2018, and 2019 shows. The Microsoft Theater is really clean and air conditioned well, I feel safe with the security, and the energy of the crowd is much better in person than through the stream. It’s also an excellent opportunity to network. After the show ended, I went to Yard House for dinner across from the theater, and talked to an indie game developer, who is interested in helping me publish a video game that I want to work on. I had an excellent time overall, I will be back next year!
