Re: Feature: The Legacy Of Nintendo 64's Transfer Pak

Handy_Man

With the Switch, it's a shame that products like the Transfer Pak wouldn't exist today. The feeling of unlocking characters in Mario Golf N64 with the GBC game, or using your own Pokémon in Pokémon Stadium rather than rentals, felt so ahead of its time.

Re: Super Mario Maker 2 Invitational Event To Take Place Days Before E3

Handy_Man

I went to the Smash Invitational in person last year, no thanks. I got there by 2:30 AM last year, and got in the theater by 12:00 PM and left around 4:00 PM. I had a blast, but the fact that we had to stand the whole time, both outside in line and inside the theater, really killed my feet. They removed all chairs inside the theater to allow more people inside, so everyone had to stand unless you got a V.I.P. seat. I really hope they accommodate more people's needs this time around, I loved being a part of Ultimate's big reveal but it would be nice if Nintendo treated us consumers more like people and less like props.

Re: Random: That New Smash Bros. Ultimate Trailer Seems To Sync Perfectly With Almost Every Song

Handy_Man

@retro_player_22 Fatalize fits like a glove with that commercial! My only constructive criticism is that the music seems to fade throughout the whole video, as the song gets increasingly quieter. The song is also pretty loud at the start and drowns out the SFX. I would make the volume of the music consistent throughout, and then lower it at the end where he says "More Battles, More Fighters, More Fun".

Re: Nintendo Download: 8th November (North America)

Handy_Man

@brandonbwii I was wondering why it took so long to put up today’s downloads too. I was thinking that they did it because they didn’t want to say YouTube was available today, but it’s not even included in this list. Oh well, better late than never.

Re: Miyamoto Regrets Design Choices Made During Development Of Super Mario Run

Handy_Man

I really enjoyed Mario Run and don't regret buying it. With that said, it's great that Miyamoto is able to analyze his own work and think critically on how he can improve it. I personally didn't have a hard time with the main game, but since the mobile gaming market has less dedicated gamers that are crunched for time, I can see why it would be an issue. I still hope that he gives the Mario series another shot as producer or director sometime, mobile or not.

Re: Adding Fox McCloud To Starlink: Battle For Atlas Was Nintendo's Suggestion

Handy_Man

You guys aren't looking at the bigger picture here. Gaining the opportunity to work on a Nintendo IP is a huge honor for anyone. For developers to not only get the chance to meet Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto, but also find out that he loves what you are doing and would love to collaborate, must be so surreal and fulfilling. I personally do not care about StarLink, but I am very happy for the development team and it's awesome to see that their life-long heroes care about what they are working on so much. Kudos to the StarLink development team, they deserve it.

Just finished playing through this game. I almost never cry while playing games, but this game did it for me. Beautiful message and environments.

Re: Mega Man Composer Addresses Similarity Between Elec Man's Theme And Journey's "Faithfully"

Handy_Man

Here are the quotes so you don't have to watch the video:

(Regarding Elec Man and Journey),
"I have heard this from many people, but when I was composing music at that time, I didn't know any songs by Journey. Even if I did, I wouldn't do such a daring thing (as to copy a song) because it would come out in public."

"Some people have said it's plagiarism and it hurts slightly. But the songs are very similar, and I don't think there's anything I can really do about it now."
