Re: Anniversary: Pokémon Stadium 2 Launched 20 Years Ago Today In Japan

Handy_Man

It makes me sad that newer Pokémon fans don’t have a game like Pokémon Stadium 1 or 2 today. It was a great way for me to learn about Pokémon battling, as I was too young to understand the text in the RPG adventures at the time. The first main series Pokémon game I finished was Ruby and Sapphire. I still play Pokémon Stadium 1 and 2 with friends to this day, it’s just a great way to set up Pokémon battles without the need for a main series game. The rental Pokémon selection offering for multiplayer is very generous, including every Pokémon at the time in both games except for Mewtwo, Mew, Lugia, Ho-Oh, and Celebi. Even so, there’s always a certain charm with using the transfer pack and seeing your GB Pokémon come to life in 3D. In Stadium 2, the transfer pack even allows you to use more held items than what Stadium 2 allows by default if you have the item in your Gen II game, like Leftovers and the Berserk Gene. Overall, I love the Pokémon Stadium games, and it’s great to see that they are remembered so fondly. I credit the Pokémon Stadium games for being my proper introduction to Pokémon battling.

Re: Random: Did You Know Mario Kart DS Loads Differently Depending On Your Chosen Console?

I was surprised to see this as an article, but I guess there are people today who were not born yet when Mario Kart DS originally released. I always thought that this was a cool gimmick, and I remember discovering it for myself when I got both the DS and DS Lite when they were new. It’s cool to see that some people are learning about this for the first time through this article regardless.

Re: Grant Kirkhope's Goal Is To Compose For Illumination's Super Mario Movie

I think Grant Kirkhope would be a great choice for composing the music in the Mario movie. His tunes are very whimsical and fun, which would fit the world of Mario. Working on Mario + Rabbids also helps a lot, but aside from that, he’s probably grown up playing Mario games as well throughout his life if he realizes that Nintendo sees Mario as this sacred, legendary, “do not destroy” kind of property. Considering he composed for Banjo-Kazooie and Donkey Kong 64, he probably played at least Super Mario 64 in order to see how it is compared to the other N64 3D platformers.

Although, Koji Kondo composing the Mario movie would be epic...

Re: Poll: It's Been One Year Since Mario Kart Tour Was Released, Are You Still Playing It?

I had fun with it for the first two months of release. After seeing how unforgiving the game was with its micro-transactions, plus the fact that you always needed the brand new stuff to even get good scores, I abandoned ship and never looked back. Stuff like Dixie Kong and the SNES racers made it slightly tempting to go back, but it still didn’t make me want to open the app. Basically, I like the game at its core, as it plays like a mobile Mario Kart game. But with how you constantly need rubies to get anywhere in the game, it starts to become a waste of time and money. There’s many other Nintendo games to be entertained by that don’t require that sort of predatory mindset.
