Even having PS4-quality on the palm of my hands is impressive, as I already have a base PS5 and don’t feel like it’s such a huge leap forward (graphically at least). I still hope most of my S1 library will benefit from the power boost tho, hopefully the devs are hard at work on this one…
They could feel like velvet to the touch for all I care, I hope that I won’t get the drift a few months into use…
I am lucky that I have been using the Skyward Sword joycons ever since July 2021 and they never drifted. Before that I went through 3 pairs in just 2 years!
I got used to this stuff when buying many third-party games on Switch (with the worst offenders being LA Noire and MGS Master Collection). I don’t get why people get so upset now when this has been the norm for 8 years. It’s not like you don’t have the option to move the downloaded data to an SD card or SSD/HDD before the servers would inevitably shut down. That’s what I did with my games 👍🏻
Although I was eligible, I didn't receive one. Nintendo probably doesn't bother with "filthy peasants" from Eastern Europe. Anyway, I managed to preorder one by sheer luck from a small local store (at the time of writing, the ONLY place in my country that takes preorders) as early as April 3rd, so I am secured. Hopefully it will arrive on launch day!
Isn’t this supposed to be the big DK platformer that was in development for Switch for over 5 years, with rumors circulating left and right and then suddenly fizzled out? It is obvious this has Odyssey’s DNA all over it
@Spider-Kev CDPR said something about optional language packs that can be downloaded for free, kinda like the Polish pack for Witcher 3. I remember buying TW3 for Switch right around the time of release and being impressed that it didn't have a day-one patch, although I wish they had one, as the game looked like my Switch/TV was smeared with grease (there were no graphics toggles) and the neat touchscreen functionality was missing in the initial version.
@Jamie64326 same here, the only device that I own and has a 120hz display is an iPhone 15 Pro. As for TV, I don’t even own a 4K TV yet so everything related to Switch 2 is gravy to me
Honestly I am not fond of Miis that much and I always felt like Tomodachi Life is just a weird and cringey “game”, barely a life-sim as some Stans tend to call it. But if there are people excited for this, then who am I to judge? Nintendo has games for everyone!
I just noticed, I rewatched the Direct trailer on Switch (via News section) just now and it was capped at 30fps, while on Youtube and Nintendo Today! App it was 60fps. Could this be a hint at the performance differences between OG Switch and NS2?
I kinda thought yesterday that it looked a bit too good for it to maintain 60fps on Switch 1, looking a bit even more graphically complex than MP1 Remastered
Why is everyone hoping this will be a cross-gen release? It’s more realistic to be a Switch 1 release that it will have some kind of enhancements when played on Switch 2. Kinda like Smart Delivery or FPS Boost on Xbox Series. Why would Nintendo bother releasing 2 different versions??
I have recently replayed the game on Mac and it's one of my favorite adventure games of all time, right next to LucasArts' best works! The game perfectly encapsulates the dread and philosophy of the novel it's based on, not to mention Harlan Ellison's VA for AM that enhances the horror vibes. This game is not for the faint of heart however, it is very easy to screw up something minor in any scenario and lead you to one of its many bad endings. Nightdive sure pulled a sneaky one re-releasing this gem in such distressing times that more and more resemble the plot of the novel/game!
I am curious how well will it be adapted to Switch (as it never had a console release, it almost had a PS1 port back in the day) and I pray that the touch controls from the iOS version will make a comeback...
This is the most beautiful and soul-reaching article I have read ever since I started browsing NintendoLife for news and opinions! I think many of us here who have joined the Switch family early on have gone through many experiences, good or bad, in the last 8 years. No matter what, the Switch was there for us, and I hope the successor will continue the legacy Nintendo is known for.
Chapeaux to you and I hope everything is alright in your life!
@Vivianeat I would have never thought Balatro would become the indie equivalent of Fortnite.
Now I’m waiting for the Skibidi Toilet and Among Us decks to appear in the next updates.
Jokes aside, the best crossovers for me are still in the PC release of Super Meat Boy
@Ogbert I know what you mean. However if this game doesn’t actually use AI and it’s entirely human-made, they should fire whoever is involved with the graphics, because those cats are really off-putting. I am a cat lover and I hate to see something so soulless, as it’s supposed to be a cat sim, not a gremlin game.
@KingMike I agree that Rockstar has its sizeable share of fault. If they cared so much about the classic GTAs, those games should have been given to a more skilled staff, in terms of size and experience, from the very beginning, as well as enough time to get the games ready. Still, it doesn’t give an excuse to anyone involved in this disaster.
Seeing GSG gave me flashbacks of playing the mobile GTAs over the last decade and seeing the disaster that was San Andreas HD on PS3 (which basically was the mobile version but printed on a disc, with horrible performance and bugs). I had my doubts from the beginning, but when I saw the Trilogy on release I thought to myself that this was worse than the mobile ports which they used as a base for the “Definitive” Editions.
I will always have the GSG logo on my Switch case of the Trilogy, to remind me of who was originally responsible for developing this mess tho, so Williamson doesn’t have to worry that his company is cancelled (unless Rockstar decides to print new copies without their team on the back)
How entitled can this CEO ***** be after he accepted to take over such a massive project with a small and untalented team that managed to botch the classic GTA games over the last decade on mobile and PS360 and did the same thing with DE, but a whole lot worse! Their previous patches managed to fix one thing and break a few more, and they treated the Switch version the worst!
The latest patch is the merit of Brendan McNamara’s company, not of Dog ***** Games. They should have never laid their hands on such beloved games
@Serpenterror they are janky, I agree, but compared to many horror games made today it has the heart in the right place. It’s definitely worth a try, although I’d recommend waiting for a sale first as I don’t think it’s worth 40 euros or so 👍🏻
@Serpenterror Slitterhead is the brainchild of the original Silent Hill’s director and creator of the Siren franchise on PlayStation. The game has a neat concept and nice atmosphere, I really dig its 1980s Hong Kong setting and the fact that any person you meet could be a monster
Although I have access on both PS5 and Switch, I’m not gonna bother replaying on PS5 as I already got the Platinum on all three games over 2 years ago.
The current gen, in my view, wasn’t in such a dire need of a huge patch. I always wanted the Switch version to be patched as it has the most visual glitches of all versions and uneven fps. We have to pressure Rockstar a lot so they will remember that a lot of Switch owners bought this mess and want it FIXED
Edit: the update has just released, GTA 3 and Vice City look and play like they should have been back in 2021! Can’t wait to delve deeper into San Andreas, as everything that plagued the Switch release has seemingly been ironed out: the visual glitches in the weapon/radio wheel, the unstable fps, the blurriness when played on TV and the weird audio mixing in the intro videos!
@BrintaPap I don’t agree with any form of aggression and I do know that the Japanese also have some traits that are not positive.
I’m only afraid that when I’ll go to Japan, I would suddenly find myself in a discriminating position as someone from the West, just because some idiots made an ass of themselves and broke the rules. I’m referring to extra surveillance or being held for extra checks
@BrintaPap what does the segregation have to do with anything?…
I was simply saying how they follow the rules as enacted. Another example would be if you entered a Japanese Apple Store. You wouldn’t find the test devices tied to anything as Japanese people wouldn’t steal them en masse or mess up the stores like in the West, mainly referring here to the whole SNES controller debacle. They actually have the sense of responsibility and shame unlike here.
This says a lot about how Nintendo is extremely naive when it comes to how people outside of Japan think. Japanese people are raised to be more respectful and obey the rules, while we always look to break those rules.
Nintendo did it to themselves really, same goes for their “playtest program”. Should have allowed photography on-site (at least with a tax as many museums do if they feel they would lose money somehow)
@IceEarthGuard I know, but it’s incredibly expensive to get my hands on an LRG game due to custom taxes and it takes AGES for anything to come from the States. It doesn’t help that my country, even though it’s in EU, is not fully integrated into Schengen, so goods tend to come a bit harder here than in the rest of the Union…
And in the eventuality that some game stores get to sell some LRG games, they come stupidly expensive (standard editions going for almost 100 euros or over)
All that said, F LRG!!!
I remember when I was trashed a few years ago here on NL for speaking the truth about how LRG’s business is toxic. I hate them mainly for releasing their games ONLY in the US, which is basically saying FU to European gamers like myself.
The definition of the rotten apple on gaming
I don’t know what to say…
I managed to finish the game (pretty close to getting the Platinum) on PS5 and it’s a really cute and good game! Not only that, I also snatched a physical copy mainly for those art cards, which are really nice to own!
I loved it so much that when I got myself a MacBook Pro M3, the first game I tested was Stray. It has a few small hiccups when moving the camera too fast but it scales pretty well to Apple’s Silicon chips, even on 8 gigs of RAM (medium graphical settings, unlocked 40-60 fps)
However, I’m not too sure that Stray would be a good fit on Switch, seeing the trailer during the Direct. I have to see actual gameplay before deciding to triple-dip.
Great, I’ll just wait for Silksong to be reannounced in 2034 as a launch title for Sega’s new console, Uranus.
It will surely be a hit with the feral kids in the post-war wasteland

Besides Persona, I got the Doom 1+2 combo on Switch and might I say that this is the definitive way to play these classics (they still missed Final Doom from being totally complete). The new soundtrack is even more badass than the tracks from the 3DO port, so hopefully we can finally rest easy and say that port is 100% crap now
I wish Nintendo of Europe would extend into Central and Eastern Europe… it would be easier to get special edition games and controllers from MyNintendo as well
