Re: Video: Check Out Red Dead Redemption's Switch 2 Improvements In This Side-By-Side Comparison

Flashlink99

@Blast16 On Switch 1 is a bit better since the last patch 2 years ago, the Classic Lightning really improves the look. However, the resolution is still crap and the fps hovers mostly around 25 fps.
My advice (if you really want to play the GTA Trilogy on Nintendo) is to run it on Switch 2, as it solves most of the issues: maxing the resolution at 720p and constant 30fps (I do wish they would patch it for higher res and 60 fps tho!)

Re: Here's Another Look At Elden Ring Running On Switch 2

Flashlink99

@Dang_69 I know what you mean! My wife has no issues replaying Witcher 3 on Switch Lite.
Meanwhile, I feel like, especially after the latest update, the Switch version is jankier and much more prone to stutters and crashes. It may be like that because I’ve been spoiled by Cyberpunk on Switch 2, which is great and not that big of a compromise as Switcher was compared to PS4/Xbox One. What is crazy is that I had no problem beating the game for the first time on Switch about 2 years ago, and now I find it nigh unplayable on that platform! 😅
I still hope for a Switch 2 version of Witcher 3…

Re: Here's Another Look At Elden Ring Running On Switch 2

Flashlink99

@Max_the_German Keep in mind that these footages are usually recorded by random people who don’t have much idea about showing footage of the game with the accuracy that more tech-savyy people would expect. There also exist people that can’t tell the difference between 30 or 60 fps (not joking)

Re: Surprise! Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition Is Available Now On Switch & Switch 2

Flashlink99

@nhSnork um, where to start:
1. The game is crossgen, not gen 7, and it had different builds for PS3 and PS4
2. The Switch 1 version (30 GB-ish) is already almost TRIPLE the size of the PC port, which is 11 GB and still looks miles ahead of the new versions by Aspyr. The Switch 2 port has only 200mbs over the S1 version!! Only for bigger res & fps and janky mouse controls.
The Switch 2 version is gimped by being literally the S1 port with minimal changes, end of story. I’ll stick with the Steam release

Re: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Is Nintendo's Cheapest Switch 2 Edition Yet

Flashlink99

@BTB20 Funny. Honestly, even with a 16K res, it wouldn’t have made a difference to such simple graphics, as it’s the sluggish performance that doesn’t make sense and ruins the excitement.
It’s stupid that an open-world game like Tears of The Kingdom, with plenty of physics, can run at 4K 60fps on Switch 2 without breaking itself apart, while the juggernaut that is Animal Crossing: New Horizons doesn’t. This is even more frustrating when you think about AC on GameCube and City Folk on Wii running at 60fps.
What gives?

Re: Bluey Is Going On A New Quest And It's Coming To Switch And Switch 2 In 2026

Flashlink99

@NintendoWife Not a Bluey fan, but Halfbrick always kicked butt when it came to mobile gaming. This Bluey game reminds me of Age Of Zombies on iPhone, used to play it all the time (at least before they butchered all their games with a “subscription” service, which basically forces you to rent their games even though you bought them years ago!)

Anyway, the console versions should be fine

Re: Team Ninja Founder And Industry Veteran Tomonobu Itagaki Has Passed Away

Flashlink99

He sure was an infamous personality in the gaming industry. However, if it weren’t for him, Ninja Gaiden would have remained stuck in the NES era and the contributions he made to develop the Xbox brand globally during the OG and 360 days would have never happened. Also, let’s not forget the Dead Or Alive series!
Rest in peace, Japanese Tommy Wiseau! 😔

Re: Digital Foundry Breaks Down Super Mario Galaxy 1 + 2 On Switch 1 & 2

Flashlink99

@rgbobs I wouldn’t sell my 3D All-Stars copy if I were you. Even though All-Stars’ Mario Galaxy 1 version is not that much different from the current one (on Switch 1), I would miss having the Shindou Mario 64 (with rumble support and upscaled textures+hud) and full HD widescreen Mario Sunshine, something that will surely not be available on the Nintendo Online app.

Re: "I Have No Words" - Silksong Fans Are Losing Their Minds Over One Bench

Flashlink99

I felt something was funny when I saw the regular bench sign but made from twigs instead of the usual one. I sat on it anyways, as I had full health and I couldn’t die if something happened, then out of reflex I went left ways and found the lever to de-activate that trap. Team Cherry is evil for hiding such a nasty prank, while the entire environment is hellbent on killing you…

Re: Talking Point: Is Hollow Knight: Silksong Too Difficult?

Flashlink99

I wouldn’t say difficult, as there were annoying bosses which you could cheese easily (looking at you, Moorwing!).
But it is very punishing! Idk if the original HK was this awful, but here you can get pummeled by a regular enemy and benches are not that regular! I also dislike the fact that I have to pay absurd sums of rosaries for something that should become accessible after exploring or solving a puzzle. There aren’t many enemies that drop rosaries, and when they do, they drop little.
Silksong definitely needs some balancing because right now, Team Cherry pulled a sadistic prank on us.

Re: "The Most Impressive Switch 2 Port To Date" - Digital Foundry Examines Star Wars Outlaws

Flashlink99

@ozwally I believe it will improve as well! I saw a preview from PAX West 2 days ago and the build present there was much more improved than the one from Gamescom last month. It wasn’t perfect and had a few fps drops, but it’s much more stable and it looks really good for Switch 2 (I’d say on par with PS4).

Re: The Best Nintendo Switch 2 Games

Flashlink99

I really like the game so far, but the exagerrated praise for Silksong is slowly turning it into Simpsong…
I don’t think it deserves the first place, but it sits in the current top 10 for sure.

Re: First Impressions: Same But Different? - Our Initial Hours With Hollow Knight: Silksong

Flashlink99

Ever since I bought my OG Switch in early 2019, I have been seldom following news about Silksong. Even though I have never played or even see much gameplay of the first Hollow Knight, I am impressed so far with the game and I would have never imagined I’d finally play it at 120fps on Switch’s successor all those years ago! Silksong so far has the makings of a modern metroidvania classic: the beautiful graphics, the gorgeous music and easy-to-pick-up gameplay that invites you to master it.
I’ll definitely go backwards and play the first game after Silksong, hopefully it won’t affect the enjoyment this way

Re: FC 26 On Switch 2 "On Parity, Basically" With PS5, According To EA Sports Dev

Flashlink99

@sixrings Nothing gets a significant discount anymore, in fact we live in a crappy age where everything gets more expensive as time goes on. Moreover, it’s ridiculous to expect a 450$ tablet to rival or surpass Series S, something that may be accomplished by a PC handheld with a price closer to an actual PC rig and way more expensive than any home console.
Again, we’ll have to wait and try the games for ourselves after release so we can have more accurate comparisons with how those same games perform on other current platforms.

Re: FC 26 On Switch 2 "On Parity, Basically" With PS5, According To EA Sports Dev

Flashlink99

Normally I would chime in and say that EA has treated Nintendo like filth ever since the Wii era, but after the embarrassing and hyperbolic negative articles about third-party games on Switch 2 from the expos last month, I am heavily in doubt of games journaling and the overall exaggerated hate for Switch 2.
No one here expects the exact same performance as on PS5/XSX, but spewing crap with no footage as proof, only to be followed with actual game footage from randos of said games looking and running ok (Star Wars Outlaws to be more specific), really makes a disservice to all of us fans, potential adopters of the new console and other devs who may be misled into not developing for Switch 2.

Guess we’ll have to wait and see for ourselves…

Re: Review: Chibi-Robo (GameCube) - A Charming Game About An Altruistic Robot Or A Shambolic Scavenger Hunt?

Flashlink99

@AdolBannings-Laylee I know what you mean. It’s a quirky game for quirky people so that is why it got a cult status, kinda like Earthbound. I don’t hate it, it has a simplistic gameplay which sure is fitting for small-bite gaming, but no one should expect this game to be one of the GOATs.
If there is one thing I don’t like about Chibi-Robo, that would be the gibberish voiceovers, they get annoying over time (especially Telly, he’s ALWAYS “talking”, or shall I say that he’s “dubba-gwimbly”-ing) and you can’t skip the dialogue. No wonder it didn’t sell well in the West, thus the exorbitant asking prices online

Re: Indiana Jones And The Great Circle Will Launch On Switch 2 In 2026

Flashlink99

@IronMan30 the spot had to be cleared for Chillin’ By The Fire 🤫
Although I probably it has to do with Geoff Keighley really, hoarding the best announcements for his crappy show.

As for the physical/digital debate, people here clearly didn’t read anything about the recent titles Microsoft released on both Xbox and PS5, none of them is full on disc

Re: Bubsy In: The Purrfect Collection Slinks Onto Switch This September

Flashlink99

@jojobar They also remastered Plumbers Don’t Wear Ties for all modern platforms. We live in an age where people would sell their kidneys just to “legitimately” play/own what would otherwise be totally forgettable garbage.
As for me, I got a complete copy of Bubsy 3D for 3 euros (PAL release doesn’t even support memory cards for some reason, password saves only) and I still feel robbed. Thus, I feel like there’s no need to check the rest of the franchise really 🥲

Re: Review: Chillin' By The Fire (Switch 2) - Novel Camera Integration, But Won't Set Your World Alight

Flashlink99

@SalvorHardin You are right, this clearly feels like Nintendo taking a bit from Microsoft’s playbook during the Kinect-era, as it was pointed out earlier.
I can hardly imagine anyone truly excited for what essentially is a webcam gimmick, as fleshed out as the webcam games I used to play on Cartoon Network’s website 15-16 years ago, only with people online this time around…
