Re: Poll: What Are Your Favourite Mini NES Games?

ErrantEmbers

Super Mario Bros 2, Super Mario Bros 3, Donkey Kong Jr. SMB2 and SMB3 are fantastic games and hugely nostalgic for me as much as just being classics. Donkey Kong Jr holds a special place in my heart for reasons unknown, I just always liked it, much better than the original Donkey Kong too. I almost picked Punch Out but that game frustrates me because it gets too damn hard later on.

Re: Review: Metroid Prime: Federation Force (3DS)

ErrantEmbers

I am a Metroid fan though admittedly not a huge one, and while I don't hate MPFF and never wished it didn't exist, it simply does not interest me in the slightest. Maybe it's a fun game, I don't know. I tried the Blast Ball demo and the trial mission in the demo, and found myself incredibly bored after about 10 minutes. The controls just feel too cramped to work well on a handheld. And the whole package feels incredbly generic. I'm not bitter about Samus not being in the game. I just care a game being fun. But to me, from what I've seen and what I've tried in the demo, this game does not seem like it would provide me much fun. I said the exact same thing about TriForce Heroes and I ended up buying that and I was right about that one too. Fun for about 10 minutes. I will pass on this game but I hope it finds an audience.

Re: Gallery: Let This Awesome Nintendo NX Mock-Up Excite You

I find myself oddly intrigued and cautiously optimistic about this. If this is what NX is going for, I think it could be really interesting. My one area of concern is ergonomics. My hands cramp after playing 3DS for more than an hour at a time. I don't do well with flat controllers. Even using a SNES controller which is pretty poor in ergonomics, my hands hurt after 2 or 3 hours. Other than that, I think NX could be something cool if it follows these concepts.

Re: Talking Point: The Viral Reaction to Pokémon GO is a Surprise Gift for Nintendo

Personally I don't care for the app. It's itneresting and had I been 10 years younger with much more free time I'd probably really into it too. But as an adult with 2 jobs I see very little use for it, personally. BUT I am very glad it's catching it and I'm very glad Nintendo is in the limelight again. Even if I don't care about the things they bring out I want them to succeed. If this app helps them make a better NX or just better operations at HQ, so be it. I just hope Nintendo doesn't ditch console gaming completely and focus on mobile games.

Re: Gaming Analyst Thinks Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Will Sell 10 Million Nintendo NX Consoles "Pretty Quickly"

Nintendo really has no excuse for the NX not to be great. Clearly they realized Wii U wasn't doing well pretty early on, and as such they sacrificed working harder on it to make a better NX. Many unannounced titles were supposedly pushed to NX which were originally going to be on Wii U. So all these release droughts on Wii U should mean that NX is going to be awesome right out of the gate, whether or not Zelda is a big part of the reason. NX will do better than Wii U. I mean it has to. But how much better is my question.

Re: Hardware Classics: Nintendo 64

Even after all these years N64 is still my #1 system. My most played, my most loved, I even love the controller. Conker's Bad Fur Day, Super Mario 64, Diddy Kong Racing, Banjo-Kazooie, Paper Mario, Ocarina of Time... all defining games for me and some of my absolute favorites of all time. Can'tbelieve it's been 20 years!

Re: Editorial: Nintendo Did A Solid Job at E3 2016, But That Didn't Ease Long-Term Concerns

ErrantEmbers

I went into E3 with extraordinarily low expectations for Nintendo, but they managed to provide some excitement at least. Zelda looked awesome, as I expected it would, but aside from the expected Zelda Nintendo did a decent job of keeping my interest for 2 days. So they did better than expected they would but again I went in with piss poor expectations. I think they did better than last year though at the very least. But it does concern me too that we know NOTHING about NX and we're less than a year away. When NX was first mentioned I was somewhat confident that Nintendo have learned from their lessons with Wii U but the closer we get to NX's supposed release date and STILL knowing nothing about it, the more worried I get that NX will be nothing more than Wii U 2.0. Chances are I'll be buying it at some point regardless of what it is and how it does. But the cooler I think it is, the more groundbreaking it is, the more support it has, the sooner I will buy it.
