Re: The Nintendo Switch Power Debate is Back - Report Suggests It Won't Quite Match PS4

ErrantEmbers

People are obsessing over graphics and power...who cares? 3DS is incredibly outdated even for a handheld and yet we are still playing it and it still sells very well, almost 6 years later. Wii's power was severly lacking in 2006 (and moreso during its entire lifespan) but it is one of the highest selling consoles of all time. I honestly would not be surprised if Switch was less powerful than PS4. It's a handheld, PS4 is a big computer tower basically.

Re: A Special Kirby 25th Anniversary Broadcast Will Air Tomorrow in Japan

ErrantEmbers

My favorite Kirby game is Kirby's Epic Yarn. I just simply love the art style, the soundtrack and the charm they put into this gem. I don't care if you can't "die" in the game, all Kirby games are generally easy. But the game just has so much personality and it's a ton of fun, I'd love a Kirby's Epic Yarn 2, or at least another yarn game in the same vein like Yoshi's Woolly World. I've always been a big fan of Kirby games, ever since the original on Game Boy.

Re: NES Classic Mini Demand "Greater Than We Anticipated," Admits Reggie Fils-Aime

ErrantEmbers

I can't possibly see how Nintendo really thought the NES Classic wouldn't be in demand. There's only 2 options here: 1) They truly underestimated the demand but in turn means they suck at doing research and make them look like a bunch of bumbling fools who have no clue what their customers want, or 2) They're creating shortage on purpose which makes them look like a bunch of liars and manipulative corporate BS artists. Either way it makes them look bad. So next time, Nintendo, just produce more so everyone wins (except the scalpers, because, well, screw them).

Re: Rumour: GameCube Virtual Console Coming To Nintendo Switch

ErrantEmbers

GameCube VC games is not a big draw for me since I have almost all the Gamecube games I want, but I would download some of my favorites just so I don't have to hook the actual Cube up. Also... Animal Crossing!!! I'd download that one in a SECOND, since the original AC has been a favorite of mine (New Leaf is great but lacks the charm of the original) and plus I'd be able to take it with me on the go!

Re: Review: Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS (3DS)

ErrantEmbers

@YellowFighter I completely agree. I was super excited about Mario Maker when it was first shown off, but I don't know what it is about it, I just don't find it fun. I hate making levels, I can never come up with anything good, and playing other peoples' levels is usually a chore - either they're super simple, super hard or on autopilot. Once in a blue moon I'll find one that really impresses me.

Re: Poll: The Wii U is Four Years Old, But What Is Its Legacy?

ErrantEmbers

I found it disappointing even with a handful of really great games. Overall it's my 2nd least favorite Nintendo console after Wii. It will probably be remembered as a failure in general with a very niche crowd fondly remembering how great it was. My biggest issue was really just not enough games.

Re: Check Out This Fan Concept of an SNES Mini's Packaging

ErrantEmbers

As cool as the NES mini is, the SNES mini is where it's at for me. SNES is amazing and would have so many great titles on it. N64 mini would be great too but RareWare titles would be left off which would take a serious chunk out of the library. I can't see them doing anything past N64 as far the mini consoles go.

Re: Rumour: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Won't Be Ready by March

ErrantEmbers

Okay in the long run waiting a few more months doesn't really matter. But on the other hand... what the hell has been happening with Nintendo lately? First the amiibo drought, then the New 3DS XL Majora's Mask debacle, then Star Fox was delayed, then Zelda was delayed, then the NES Classic shortage, and now Zelda delayed again? Seriously Nintendo get your act together! We, as your fans, are thrilled to throw our money at you but you need to give us the products for us to buy! Like I said, I can wait "a few more months" for Zelda, not the end of the world, but I'm really starting to distrust and to a certain extent even dislike Nintendo's practices. Constantly delaying things, and constant product shortages will tire us out after a while. If the Switch isn't everything that we've been waiting for all this time, then I might as well just keep my money in the bank and accept that Nintendo just isn't what they used to be.

Re: Nintendo Celebrates the NES Classic Edition by Going Retro With The 'Power Line'

ErrantEmbers

@Xaessya I love that pic. When I was younger I wanted to BE that kid. I remember the NES pretty well, actually just bought a top loader NES and played it a bunch the last couple of days. I may skip out on the NES Mini because, while it's a cool collectible, there are more than those 30 games that I want on the NES. Small selection if you ask me. But yeah being born in 83 I was old enough to experience the NES the first time around.

Re: Talking Point: The Nintendo Switch May Divide Opinion, But It's Made a Splash

ErrantEmbers

People who don't think the Switch is awesome is just a negative nancy. It appeals to just about everyone - children, teens, adults, portable gamers, console gamers, multiplayer, single player, I don't get any hate for this system. Who cares if the specs aren't cutting edge (we don't know but let's be honest, they won't be). If specs are all that matters get a PC. I cannot tell you how impressed and excited I was with the reveal and the console. Finally it feels like Nintendo's marketing is spot on and I couldn't be happier with the direction they seem to be taking it in.

Re: Analysts Weigh In On The Nintendo Switch Debate

ErrantEmbers

The message isn't clear? Did they even watch the trailer? The message is the fact that this one machine can be played ANYwhere. At home, on the go, alone or with others. They are giving people options. For once I feel they are hitting their target. Is the niche there? I hope so. I know I am within the target niche. I think the key to selling this thing is to prove to non-believers that you don't HAVE to use it as a portable. A few people I work with and my best friend all said "it looks cool but I don't want a handheld." I'm like, "well it's NOT a handhed if you don't want it to be. You can still use it a home console." Just because an option is avaialble doesn't mean you HAVE to use it and I hope Nintendo drives THAT point home. As for me, Switch is EXACTLY what I wanted and I really couldn't be happier.

Re: King Boo in Mario Kart '8' and New Splatoon Goodness - Breaking Down the Nintendo Switch Reveal

ErrantEmbers

Splatoon possibly an updated port, I'm gonna guess. And Mario Kart looks like a new game, not Mario kart 8. If you think about it, Mario Kart 9 makes the most sense, since new Mario Karts typically come every 3-5 years. SMK - 1992, MK64 - 1997, MKSC - 2001, MKDD - 2003, MKDS - 2005, MKWii - 2008, MK7 - 2011, MK8 - 2014, MK9 - 2017? So releasing a new MK in 2017 would make perfect sense rather than a port of MK8 with new characters and such.

Re: No Strategy Briefing Planned for Nintendo's Q2 Financials - NX, 3DS and Mobile Updates Still Expected

ErrantEmbers

It has gotten ridiculous, the way they keep pushing the NX announcement off. We literally know NOTHING about this system, Nintendo is giving Wii U owners NOTHING to play and distract ourselves with until March when NX supposedly launches. I mean it;'s going to be November very soon and March will be 4 months away. FOUR months. They're really upsetting fans and as for me, I'm going to stop caring altogether very soon. They claim they haven't revealed it because they don't want other companies to steal their ideas, but at this point I'm starting to think they are BSing their way through the whole thing because they have no plan or NX is not what they wanted it to be. This worries me greatly. It makes me feel like something down at Nintendo HQ has gone haywire and they have no idea how to handle it, as opposed to them sitting on something gold and waiting for the opportune moment to reveal it and wow everyone.

Re: Random: Nintendo NX Rumours From French Media and an Analyst Report, While Zelda Williams Fends Off Anxious Fans

ErrantEmbers

@rjejr I agree and it's only this painful because they've given us almost nothing to play in the meantime. Since they announced NX last year what Wii U games have we gotten? Splatoon, Pokken , Star Fox, Paper Mario, a half-assed Mario Tennis, and a pointless Animal Crossing spin off? It was 6 months between Star Fox and Paper Mario. Huge void they did not fill. And it's 5 months between now and March and there is nothing to fill that void but Pokemon Sun & Moon. So really this year has always been "when is NX coming" because"can't wait to see what Wii U games are coming" because there aren't any more.

Re: Review: Paper Mario: Color Splash (Wii U)

ErrantEmbers

I'm not super impressed nor do I hate it. I've been pretty indifferent to this game ever since they announced it, but I still am going to buy it and play it just in hopes that I do enjoy it. No, it;s not PM64 or TTYD, and yes I would love a true sequel to those games, but as long as this game is enjoyable I don't mind.

Re: Editorial: Rediscovering the Gems of the Wii U Library

ErrantEmbers

Wii U is my second least favorite Nintendo console. The library just didn't grab me, the gamepad was a hassle to use having to feel like I had to keep it plugged in , major titles were left out (Metroid, F-Zero, an exclusive Zelda, a true 3D Mario, etc). What's there is admittedly good, sometimes amazing even, but it's just not enough for me.

Pikmin 3 was Fantastic though, as was Mario Kart 8, Yoshi's Woolly World, Toads Treasure Tracker and the biggest surprise of all - Splatoon. They definitely hit home runs with those games.

But the system was also very disappointing to me. Mario 3D World was good but forgettable (as was NSMBU). Hyrule Warriors and 2 HD ports of old Zelda games was not a good replacement for an actual Zelda title. Metroid had no representation. Kirby and the Rainbow Curse was cute but finished it in a day and never touched it again. Star Fox Zero was hugely disappointing to me, also finished in a night or two and probably will never touch again. Xenoblade X I was actually excited about but was bored to death after the first 10 hours. Mario Tennis ultra Smash was severely bland and felt lazy. Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival is almost an insult to all of us that wanted a real AC game. Wonderful 101 seemed cool at first but it just didn't hook me. And forget Bayonetta 2. I tried it only because everyone said it was Wii I'd best game but it honestly be my least favorite game of the last decade. I thought it was absolutely terrible.

But anyway.. I'm glad Wii U found some fans, it wasn't terrible, and when Nintendo hit a home run it REALLY hit a home run. But a few spectacular games just didn't fill me up.
