Following the recent and widely verified reports on the Nintendo NX and its form factor, there's been a growing sense that we now have some firm ideas on Nintendo's approach with its next generation of hardware. Now trade publication MCV has been leveraging its sources and has shared some insights of its own - naturally they're to be treated as rumours at this point.
First of all, MCV cites sources confirming that the aforementioned Eurogamer revelations were "100 percent correct"; that seems to go a bit far, but certainly the odds are high on the bulk of those details being accurate or largely reflective of the NX.
In terms of its own details, MCV reckons that there'll be major Pokémon and Mario titles joining The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on the NX in the first six months of its launch, typically treated as the launch window. The point is made that Game Freak is working on the Pokémon title, so it may not be a spin-off - whether it could be a port of expanded iteration of Pokémon Sun and Moon would be interesting to see. MCV also claims that Sega, Square Enix, Ubisoft, Activision and Warner Bros are all on board in some manner with titles to support the system.
The report pegs the system's power at 'somewhere between a PS3 and PS4', and the publication also quotes an unnamed executive that's been hands on with the system as saying the following:
It's a nice bit of kit, a bit of a novelty, but a good one. It won't appeal to PS4 fans. Nintendo seems set on trying to upgrade smartphone gamers. That's going to be a big job for the marketing department.
What do you think of these comments - do you believe this report could be on the money, and if it is are you happy with the potential game support and power of the system? Speculate away below.

Still waiting for "sources" to claim "Berserk Musou" is a NX launch title from Omega Force...
I am really looking forward to what the Nintendo NX brings to the table in regard to Super Mario.
I have my doubts, but I certainly hope that the Nintendo NX would be 4K (3840 x 2160) when plugged into a TV because I would really like to play Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild in glorious 4K.
Would be interesting (and a little odd!) to see a Pokémon game on NX so soon after Sun & Moon release on 3DS. Although, if it's at the back end of that 6 month launch window, then it'll be almost a full year after, so perhaps that's the intention.
That, or some kind of spin-off. Guess we'll have to wait and see.
@Shiryu please let this be true!
@Raylax I have my doubts, namely with GameFreak and their ambivalence to what console gaming is. But if this isn't a console well we will just have to see.
I think when they reveal the NX they will show loads of big games including, Metroid, FZero, Mario Kart 9, Pikmin 4, all to release within the first year. Nintendo is going to go all in on the NX to give it a good start.
The "it won't appeal to PS4 fans" comment worries me. I don't want the NX to go the same way as the Wii U. Don't get me wrong, I love the Wii U...but the marketing was downright terrible and the same mistake cannot be made again.
There is also a rumour that the Johnny Turbo mascot is being revived for the NX, with a game planned for release in the launch window.
My sources are trusted.
I just wish Nintendo would show something to us as the wait is dragging on and on.
What Reggie and Miyamoto have pointed out is rather worrying. They said not long ago that "an interesting new Mario game could happen in two or three years". Proper Pokemon games take some time, too. Moon and Sun have not been released yet. If we are talking about spin-off games then yes, NX could have some Mario and Pokemon games in the first 6 months, even at launch, but not sure if those games are exactly what we are expecting from Nintendo.
I imagine the Mario game will be Super Mario Maker Definitive Edition. Or if we're talking more than 1 then totally Mario Kart 8 Definitive Edition too. As for Pokemon, a 3rd edition for Sun/Moon (like Yellow, Crystal, Emerald and Platinum) seems relatively realistic.
I really do hope the NX isn't being marketed as a "novelty" console, as that would detract interest from the targeted demographic, and we all know how long novelties last!
"somewhere between a PS3 and PS4"
Oh please, by all means, be more vague.
The Wii U is somewhere between the PS3 and PS4.
'The report pegs the system's power at 'somewhere between a PS3 and PS4'
So, a WiiU in a different shell then yeah?
And there's that' novelty' word again.
The more I hear of this NX (unofficially of course) the more I lose interest. Won't be a day one for me.
I hope the Pokémon rumor isn't true. I'm going to get the NX day one, but I really think each Pokémon generation should stay on 1 handheld. If they suddenly do Pokémon Sun and Moon and then a remake, new title or sequel on a different console, many people won't be able to partake in the entirety of the generation.
@AlliMeadow Nope - just buy the new console, as you would moving from DS to 3DS!
I doubt we'll see a main series Pokemon game so close to Sun and Moon. Unless the NX is compatible with 3DS games
This 'somewhere between a PS3 and PS4' doesn't fill me with great hope.Which one will it be closer to or is it somewhere in the middle?I'm not expecting a powerhouse but if it's not a noticeable bump over Wii U then I'll be extremely disappointed.I'm not a handheld gamer so it being the most powerful handheld ever doesn't mean much to me,I want to see the difference on my TV screen.Regardless,I'll still buy it anyway like always and no doubt will love it.But come on Nintendo,I want to be impressed.
@VanillaLake I don't know,they both seem to contradict themselves.A couple of years ago Miyamoto said he wants Mario to "usher in the next era." and "I think that maybe when we release the next hardware system, you can look forward to seeing Mario take on a new role or in a new game,"
That was at the end of 2014 he said that and it's been 3 years since 3D World came out.I think we'll be seeing the next one within the launch window.
@BLPs If the rumours are true, then the NX is more of a handheld than anything else. Pokémon on the NX only makes sense.
GF is allways working on a new pokemon game. Alola region was hinted in XY so I bet they work on 3rd iteration or 8th generation now. They may not know how to optimize their games, but they do know how to produce those games in never ending stream.
Anyway, it's better if system has game support. Mario, Pokemon and other exlusives will surely help selling NX.
If Nintendo don't think they can, or don't want to, compete with Sony and MS, that's fine.
But they're delusional beyond words if they think they can get people to switch from their phone to a dedicated gaming system.
People using their phones are not interested in games, they want 5 mins to kill. They couldn't care less if the game they're playing is Pokemon go, candy crush, snake or solitaire.
Leave those people alone Nintendo, they're not interested.
"Nintendo seems set on trying to upgrade smartphone gamers."
That is an impossible mission. If this new strategy fails, I'm sure Nintendo will make "hardcore" (traditional) games again but without gimmicks and exclusive hardware, becoming one of the best third parties in the world.
Considering that this is a rumor wouldn't it make sense to tag this as a rumor since at the moment it is classified as news when you see this article pop up on the main page.
Also another NX rumor. Another mention of Casuals/smartphone users. How swell.
Rhetorical question: What does this guy think a PS4 fan is? Everyone who reads that comment will have a different answer. The "it won't appeal to PS4 fans" comment is so vague and open to interpretation it becomes almost meaningless. For the record I enjoy my PS4 and can't wait for NX.
I would hope we get a great lineup in the first 6 months of the NX's life. Pokemon, Mario, and I'll add Monster Hunter to my list of priorities if I was organising the launch lineup.
Another day, another rumor. Greatly looking for to that Mario game, though.
@A01 @VanillaLake Yup, that's what worries me as well. It's an impossible mission, unless the games are virtually free and the NX allows for more than just play games, and we all know that's not going to happen. Mobile games are succesful because they are on mobile, not because they're particulary good.
I don't like the word ''novelty'' either. Some sort of gimmick that looks neat at first, but impossible to sell to a large market.
This is gonna suck so bad 😢 I have a feeling the NX is gonna make the Wii U seem like a home run.
@Alundra-1998 Doubt that it will even hit 1080p with THESE specs. Maybe 1366x768?
I suuuree hope the new Mario game has Daisy in it! I've been eyeing a 3DS so I can play Daisy Golf, Daisy Kart 7 (4?) and Daisy Party Star Rush.
@Octane Yeah I know that's the case. But that's all they are, rumours. And it was sold by Nintendo as the next home console. Those two words make GameFreak run away fast
Nintendo's getting the launch line-up right this time around?
Step one to success has been taken.
So history is repeating itself.
The Wii was a slightly upgraded version of the Gamecube with a novalty novalty feature to appeal to casuals when the Gamecube was aimed at a traditional gamer. Now the NX appears to be pulling the same trick as the Wii. I disliked the Wii quite a lot and only kept it for six months.
Todays news weighs down heavy on my heart.
@A01 WII U less powerful than PS3 !!
@readyletsgo Yeah and this "Nintendo seems set on trying to upgrade smartphone gamers".... the more i read about the NX the more i loose interest as well :S
@BLPs I don't think they've said anything like that. It was more about how it's not a successor to either the Wii U or 3DS and that it was a dedicated gaming platform. At least that was the general message.
Very interesting rumors. I'm really curious what the Pokemon title could be, if such a game is really being made for NX. If it's a 'mainline' game, I can't help but feel that it would be something kinda dumb like another gen 1 remake but in HD or something to appeal to the Go players. I mean, yeah that would be kinda neat, but at the same time kinda lame. Don't know what to think about a new Mario game. Not interested in another NSMB, and honestly I don't think anyone else is either, especially after Mario Maker. Not going for the PS4 market is a predictable Nintendo move but still disappointing. I'm really eager to see the reveal already.
@MarvinTheMartian I read that in Marvins voice. All i need now is an earth shattering kaboom.
But yeah the idea of a hybrid console is a neat one, but at the same time everything else about it just rubs me the wrong way. Again though, trusted sources aren't trusted by me, so bollocks to this until Nintendo speaks.
I'm not expecting the NX to be a powerhouse but if it's too underpowered, then it's just gonna fail like the Wii U! Nintendo 1st party games are great, but that's not gonna be a system seller. It needs good third party suppprt as well. However, if it is a hybrid, then the power wouldn't matter as much... but then if it's not powerful enough for a home console as well then Ninty might as well just make it handheld-only.
@Octane Not a successor to the Wii U is a big pile of crap and we know it. That thing was DoA as much as I love its library.
At this point, I keep winding up concerned. If they sell this as a handheld with TV-Out, then it is a kick ass handheld, decently powerful with some solid games already lined up. If they sell it as a home console, which is what the Eurogamer article kept saying with it being a console with a portable element, then its the Wii U but even further back.
If these comments are true, it sounds like Wii U 2. The Wii U was going to get loads of support, blah blah blah, when it launched. Fool me once, Nintendo...
I'm going to reiterate what I say all the time. We know virtually nothing about the NX. These are all rumours. Until Nintendo come out and say nothing is true. No matter how credible the media outlet is. The following is all we know of the NX
-Powerful enough to run Breath of the Wild (Wii U+ performance)
-Sonic 2017 is confirmed for it. (Due to being on the PS4 and XBO it could mean platform porting is easier this time round.)
-Just Dance is confirmed for it. (So it is likely to have Wiimote support or some form of motion capturing tech)
-Amiibo will be supported (Breath of the Wild)
Now being honest, it probably is a portable device. And that's a good thing. Even if it not as powerful as a PS4, a PS3/Wii U powered handheld is big news. But at this time I keep my expectations in check as it could be something completely different.
Glad they're not competing with PS4 directly. That looked like foregone conclusion. They do need to get that smartphone market engaged.
I'm up for this if it's a kick-ass handheld that you can also play on the TV. Means that the 3DS is dead but also that devs can target just one machine which should/could mean a better flow of new titles.
@Grandpa_Pixel
The Vita wasn't big news.
@A01 To be fair, that console suffered a severe lack of popular games. I have one and I have barely used it despite it having Persona 4 Golden.
EDIT: And Sony forgetting about it. A LOT.
MCV, I take them seriously. I need to obviously see more and the NX reveal should lay all the cards on the table but I'm not convinced this is a good route for Nintendo to be taking.
So for the Pokémon game, I have a crazy idea but it probably won't happen. It would be cool if they made and HD 'compilation' type game that wove the 3D regions (Hoenn, Kalos and Alola) into one narrative, and followed your trainer taking on the leagues/rite of passage from each. Part of me thinks that Kalos might be a part of Sun and Moon anyway (why else would Zygarde be there?) but hey, it's just a wacky idea that I had.
@Alundra-1998 That is not going to happen. 4K gaming on consoles is years away still. Seeing that you still need to spend at least 500-600 bucks on GFX card alone on PC to get acceptable framerates at 4K resolution.
That is more expensive than an entire gaming console and just for the GPU!
So if rumors are true that the performance of the NX is to be expected to be between PS3 and PS4, then 1080p is all there is to it for the NX. As it will be barely more powerful than the current WiiU.
@Grandpa_Pixel
Still, a PS3/Wii U power level handheld has already failed miserably.
I've no doubt Nintendo would have better luck with a similar handheld. But it's not exactly going to be big news.
Sega - Project Sonic 2017, already confirmed
Square Enix - Dragon Quest XI, already confirmed
Just Dance 2017 - Ubisoft, already confirmed
Seems like MCV could have fleshed out their rumour reporting with the few actual facts we have about NX lol
@A01 The Vita was definitely not PS3 power levels. PS2 yeh. But not PS3 level. I have a few ports of games on that handheld and they look naught like their PS3 levels. Maybe PS2.5?
Doesn't bother me mind you as the Vita is lovely
@Jeronan Awwww Sony and Microsoft are practically already there with the Sony PS4 Neo and Xbox One S.
@dorkeybubblehead I thought Dragon Quest was only a possibility?
The MCV article actually reports that "game graphics" will be somewhere between PS3 and PS4. Can I ask if that's the same thing as general processing power in this context?
@A01
No handheld has ever been PS3/Wii U level.
Vita was midway between a PS2 and PS3, and the reason it failed is because of the $100 memory cards and lack of system sellers. The top 2 games on the system were PS2 remakes.
Point being, there is no correlation between a high powered handheld and failure. Vita did not fail because it was powerful, so it's pointless to say "we already had a handheld that powerful and it failed, therefore this one will fail too".
Totally unrelated factors
In six weeks all questions will be quenched, we will be NXtasy!
@Alundra-1998 Ehh no. Those will not support 4K gaming either! Just 4K video streaming. Big difference.
It needs to be launch day
@mechamen8 glad I'm not the only Nintendo fan who is seeing through the Bull 'casual gamers' 'blur ocean' 'novelty' 'gimmick' stuff now.
They'll have a tough 2017 if this is the road they are going to go down, again, sadly.
Mario (and Pokémon) in the first 6 months??
What about at launch!? Are we going to have a Wii U start?
This could work heavily in Nintendo's favour, IF they market this correctly. By unifying the home console and handheld divisions, they will ensure that the NX will at least get a steady stream of first party games (when the 3DS had games, the Wii U suffered a drought, and vise versa).
Personally, I'm thrilled. The idea of playing Breath of the Wild on the go is incredible, and we might finally get the beautiful looking core Pokemon game we've always wanted. I have faith in Nintendo, they won't repeat their failure with the Wii U.
Sources suggest it will play games at 60 fps
@Alundra-1998 Ha, dream on!
(wouldn't we all love that?)
I really don't like the quote in the middle of the article. I'm now at an age where I don't need to buy anymore consoles. I'll buy a PS4 someday, when the time is right.
I do not want touchscreen gaming. I'm a little worried but also glad I got a good run out of them. What the heck is this machine they have come up with?
Glad to hear they want to use core franchises to entice the casuals rather than Wii Party crap. That's good. Can't convert gamers if you don't get them playing the good stuff. That's why Wii retention rates were atrocious. Shovelware turned everyone off and drowned out the good stuff, lost in a sea of dollar store releases.
@Koniec
???
Zelda at launch. That's the biggest game of the generation that will be there day one, and there will be other games as well.
Don't take "Mario and Pokemon in first 6 months" as "these are the only games coming in first six months and you'll have nothing else". We already know it won't be a Wii U launch by virtue of Zelda and (presumably) Pikmin 4. Besides, Wii U problem wasn't so much the launch as it was the 9 months after waiting for Pikmin 3. We need games in that 6 months following.
@Raylax unless they are doing Pokémon Z for the NX... that would be weird
@JaxonH And maybe not even 6 months. We need Nintendo to stun us in the first 3 months
That's literally no different than saying it's 'somewhere between an Atari 2600 and a PS99'.
'Please be excited'.
@Alundra-1998 I just can't see point in 4k.Not many have them compared to Full 1080p.I'd rather have 60TF at 1080p to 4k at 30TF.Even the reported PS4 Neo is reported not to do true 4k except for Xbox scorpio.Maybe in 2 or 3 years time at least.
I can only imagine at this point that the 'novelty' referred to in this article is the 2-player portable play feature, which if that's the case suggests Nintendo will continue try to push the social interaction aspect of gaming, having kids play together at the bus stop etc.
Rumors, rumors, rumors. Just give me some official info Nintendo!!!!!
This is going to be like an Ouya and 3DS in one!
@TruenoGT Actually looking at day 1 alone, they were off to a great start
The more launch titles, the better. It definitely needs more than The Legend of Zelder Scrolls V: Skyloft to get me anywhere near excited.
@Grumblevolcano They said it won't appeal to PS4 fans so that should mean that we won't get 100 next gen ports.
@MadAdam81 No next gen ports of the same game but better graphics? But what will I do with all my spare money?
@PleaseUnderstan all of these rumours are NXS
Shouldn't this be ''rumour'' instead of ''news''?
@Alundra-1998 The S can only handle 4K video and the Neo is barely strong enough to have 1800p capped at 25FPS. no way you'll get the graphic fidelity of PS4 games in full native 4K. maybe 30FPS max via upscaling.
won't attract PS4 gamers? wtf This just seems like a stereotypical PS4 gamers are ''mature'' and are to ''mature'' to be playing nintendo games I love my PS4 but i'll be getting an NX asap some people smh....
I think the NX should be a fully operarional smartphone, putting people in the situation where they had to choose between this, an android and an iphone. Now that would be a game changer.
If Nintendo's marketing pitch is going to attempt to target smartphone users, then this console is going to have issues. I can't imagine any marketing pitch that would make a smartphone user (someone who already has a device that handles games, emails, texts, apps, alerts, etc.) want an entirely separate $250-$300 rectangle specifically for games.
I feel like people are bring overly pessimistic about the us of the day word "novelty". Were the Wii, Nintendo DS, and Nintendo 3DS not also considered novelties?
Pokemon NX needs new pokemon, plain and simple. And not Sun and Moon's: new pokemon of its own. The console pokemon were always second-fiddle to the handheld games for that reason.
Probably just New Super Mario Bros 5 and another Pokemon Spinoff.
@peeks That's not actually the case, Wii U is slightly more powerful than PS3.
Enough with the rumours!
I wouldve bet that a Pokemon game would be released early in the NX's release. Too bad I didn't. Lol. It will definitely tie in/work with Sun/Moon
@NewAdvent Sorry pal, the Hype Train stops for no-one.
Whether it's actually started yet though is up for debate
"Upgrade smartphone gamers?" Well, they're bound to figure out that their smartphone games are garbage sooner or later, anyway.
@Octane For me it's like Nintendo hasn't learnt a thing. Things are not looking good for NX at all.
So Nintendo's big games will be on their next console. What a surprise...
I'm glad i'm not a smartphone gamer. I refuse to play that even from well known third party developer. Smartphones are not suppose to play games. Never ever.
Just keep praying for Nintendo. Be Optimistic !
At this point I would be shocked if NX turned out to be significantly different from what the current rumors are describing. There are just too many different outlets all claiming that this info is correct for it to be someone's uniformed speculation. There are lots of people who have seen the NX already so Nintendo was being delusional if they thought that they could keep it secret until mid-September. They should have just shown it at E3.
As for the games, it makes sense for there to be a Mario title in the first six months. The last major 3D Mario game was Super Mario 3D World so they have had lots of time to get a game together. I would expect the Pokémon game to be a remake of an older Pokémon title. I also think that the rumors of an HD remake of Smash Bros Wii U will turn out to be true as well. Mario, Zelda, Pokemon and Smash Bros all in the first year. That is how you launch a new console!
It's a handheld. It is what Nintendo does best. It will sell well and the fact that it will plug into your TV will help make it a viable companion console for gamers that don't like handhelds.
Whether it will appeal to me is another question.
Not fussed about the power, gameplay always more important to me.
Having an early Pokemon game (and maybe animal crossing?) would get people using the system a lot even if there's a gap in other releases.
@Shiryu omg i want that to happen
btw the new 2016 anime sucks
so many "sources" so much "reporting , sigh
@RatKing64 Don't discount the possibility that this current line of Rumours could be based on fake leaks from Nintendo, designed to deceive/tease etc.
Doesn't matter who the sources are or how 'trusted' they might be, if they have an agenda to mask the truth, or what they've been fed is false, then what they say counts for nothing.
Hopefully Mario is AT launch!
I hope there are more games within a closer timeframe to the NX's launch. Don't get me wrong, new Mario and Pokemon games are exciting but i'm a die hard will likely buy the system eventually. There needs to be more than Zelda at launch IMO so I hope Nintendo goes all out for the NX's reveal. I really want them to be successful commercial this time, not critically like Reggie likes to fall back on when reporters corner him about Wii U.
The rumours have been crazy on this system for over a year now. I wonder when they will finally reveal everything. I'm thinking a Nintendo Direct sometime in September or early October. Predictions?
Well if the point is to NOT appeal to brainwashed graphic wh0res and toxic FPS/football communities, then I can already say that I appreciate the NX.
I'll buy anything that has the next Metroid Prime or Pikmin in it. Even if it's underpowered and with no 3rd party support
@Grumblevolcano "Super Mario Maker Definitive Edition"
I don't think you need to be so cynical about a Mario game on NX to site SMM, has any Ntineod console ever launched w/o a Mario game? We haven't had a 3D Mario since SM3DW, which will be a few years old next summer, and though SMM is a 2D Mario, it isn't a true NSMB game, so that will be 5 years out. Saying NX will launch w/ a Mario game for me isn't a rumour, that's a sure bet. Pokemon will probably be either Shuffle or Rumble, whichever one plays best on a touchscreen. They said this piece of "kit" - so a Brit said that - is to attract the causlas, and you attract the casuals w/ "Touch" games. I'd joke about a Mario endless runner but I know a NSMB game must be coming, and jumping isn't a touchscreens strong point.
I think they'll hold off on overloading the remasters for a bit. SSB will be the first, b/c they still haven't shown the Cloud, Bayonetta or Corrin amiibo, so they are probably waiting to tie them into the NX port reveal. Only question is how much of that over $100 of DLC will be included in the base price game, none, all or half?
So, do you think we should just give up on Ntindo Direct's at this point? E3 didn't even have one, and they can't seriously show off a new console in a Direct. I don't think the casuals care about NDs, and apparently that's who this console is for. Unless they want to surprise us w/ the MK8 DLC and another "Mario Mini" game for the holidays. Color Splash doens't need 1, and Pokemon doesn't need 1 ever, that's a non-stop reveal all year long.
NSMBX and Pokemon Touch. Though an AR "Snap!" would be great timing if the tablet has a camera on the back. Not Go though, no data, it needs to be all in game.
saying a pokemon and mario game will arrive soon at launch for a nintendo console is more assumption than major news item, imo.
@Raylax If this is true, I would expect the Pokemon game on NX would be the "third version" of Sun & Moon. I doubt they would move on to Gen 8 in the series so quickly. But hey I could be wrong.
@AndyWARbear He's probably referring to hardcore PS4 fans. Those that love their shooters and ultra hd graphics. I think is ok if Nintendo stop caring for those and make fun games for people who enjoy gameplay over graphics.
@rjejr Wii didn't get any Mario until a year after launch.
@hieveryone The new anime does not offend despite me knowing exactly what will happen story-wise. In fact I'm super happy "Berserk" is becoming relevant again.
That bit about the system's power (being) 'somewhere between a PS3 and PS4' is outstandingly vague. It could be at Wii U level, a tiny bit above PS3 performance or just short of the PS4 which plays a lot of remastered PS3 games at 1080p60fps.
Either way, a handheld at that power level is comfortably the most powerful the industry has seen. If it can play Nintendo games on the TV at 1080p/900p and-the important bit-60fps those games will look great.
Saying the NX is between "PS3 and PS4" in power is about as vague as you can get. Both the Wii U and Xbox One fall under that category. The Eurogamer rumors were actually more specific, pegging the NX's power levels at between the Wii U and Xbox One. So it would be PS3<Wii U<<NX<<Xbox One<PS4 in terms of power.
While the thought of Nintendo catering the smartphone gamers may piss some people off, it's not a bad idea nor is it impossible. We have documented proof that the release of Pokémon Go has caused a surge in 3DS software (more specifically, Pokémon software) and hardware sales across various countries. If Pokémon Go can help the 5 year old, technologically ancient 3DS can draw in some smartphone gamers, so can the brand new, modern NX.
Of course, price will play a big role. A $300 NX won't draw in any mobile gamers. A $200 NX will. A previous MCV rumor suggested that the NX would be "cheaper than expected", and seeing how no Nintendo handheld has ever been above $250 (and the 3DS didn't stay at $250 for long), I'm inclined to believe that the NX will be $200, which should be an appealing price for what this device supposedly is (a relatively powerful handheld with a TV-out).
@Dezzy
That quote shows just how tricky a position Nintendo are in. I agree with you that there's not much point going after PS4 players but I also agree with others that going after smartphone players is a dead end too. I hope there's a big enough niche somewhere.
To those of you worrying about power consider this, the PS Vita was essentially a portable PS3 and that system was released like 4-5 years ago. Don't underestimate the advancement of mobile/handheld tech. With the the current advancements in mind especially with the Tegra X2 its shouldn't be too hard for them to put out a handheld that is around PS4/X1 level at a relatively affordable price
@A01 That's what I was going to say... In between PS3 and PS4? The NX is basically a Wii U to go if that's the case.
Can't wait until Gamescom, since it's probably going to be revealed then (Nintendo won't be attending Tokyo Game Show in September, so chances are it will happen on August 17th!)
@Desy64 No question that I'm getting it.... But I'd like to see it more powerful so that it will at least be attractive to 3rd party developers.
So hyped for Mario Galaxy 3! I liked Mario 3D world a lot especially for it's multiplayer, but it never had the same thrill of challenge as Galaxy. Also I haven't always been the biggest Pokemon fan, but I would be exciting to try out or see a new game on NX. Also, I think that another series of old will have a game or remake come out alongside Botw, such as F Zero NX, or Golden Sun Exile. One can only hope
Going the way of the Wii U. Calling it now.
People can't think that a "new" Pokemon game can hit the NX...
Guess what; the new Pokemon game might be the remake of Gen IV, since the GBA game freak made it a trend, release a new gen then remake a previous gen within the year that new gen came out.
As for the between the PS3 and PS4 power, the WiiU already fills that category, the NX at least has the PS4 power.
Finally that comment that was made, is this person saying that the PS4 players are graphic junkies? That they only care about photo realistic games with lots of blood?
I really don't understand what this person meant by that.
@Grumblevolcano You mean "Wii Sports"? I think 30-40 million of those 100mil sold only ever played Wii Sports, Wii Fit, and Just Dance. I'd guess higher but MKWii sold over 35mil itself. And as much as I think they are going to try and get those people to upgrade, since nobody ever did upgrade to Wii U since Wii keeps getting Just Dance, still, I do think they'll try harder to get casuals and Mario fans, like they'll try to get handheld and home fans. Maybe they could call it "Nintendo Wii Make Mario Games Too". Then just call it "Nintendo Wii 2" for short.
Anyway, I know I'm still waiting for SMG3. SM3DW was nice, but it was too linear, nothing like SMG. But... I'll probably be disappointed again and it will be NSMBX. Oh, it dons't have to be SMG3, I just want a big 3D Mario game, similar to 64 or Sunshine is fine as well.
Well, this will be great news if it's true, and if it's proper games in the series rather than some rubbish spin-offs like Pokemon Rumble or whatever.
@The_Ninja I don't think it'll be revealed at Gamescom and Nintendo's lineup just being 2014-2016 Wii U and 3DS games as well as a limited Zelda demo.. Sure Nintendo aren't at TGS though I would not be surprised at all if Nintendo reveals the NX on a random day in September or October in Direct form.
And I'm kinda shocked how worries everyone is about this console, Wii U had a different interesting idea but a lot more than just led to it's downfall. The Wii U had
No good Launch Titles
3rd Party support for a year
Amiibo as a gimmick which didn't save it
Games didn't ultilize the game pad enough
And the Wii U failed, but look at what the NX has already
The winner game of E3 a new Zelda
Ubisoft, Warner Bros, and Square Enix already love it
Not sure about a gimmick yet
Seems to utilize portability being able to play anywhere especially multiplayer anywhere on any tv
So the NX is already being set up for success when the Wii u was not. But with that being said, it's crucial that NX can play the big 2017 games, Battlefront 2, the next Madden, and FF7 Remake. If so, the NX is a grand slam.
@Grumblevolcano The thing is Nintendo revealed the Gamecube at the same event in the same month. It could very well be possible that they do a Nintendo Direct in September, but I think Gamescom would make more sense as it would give the NX more publicity.
@The_Ninja The Gamecube was revealed at Nintendo's own event in Japan (Spaceworld), not Gamescom.
I like how everybody keeps using the Ps4 as if its the best system ever. To me the Ps4 isn't even the best game system this gen even with the best sales.
@memoryman3 what you on about?
The X1 chip can hit 1080p fine. Honestly of course the NX will output 1080p when it is setup on docking station
@NintendoFan990 Why can't it go the way of the 3DS instead?
Wow I didn't think anyone would believe that rubbish I but on the web.
If any of this is true (in regards to power/specs), then Nintendo are playing that dangerous game once again.
Good luck with that.
@the101 the Wii and DS were BEFORE the rise of smart phones and the games that come with them. The 3ds, sold half as many as the DS to repeat buyers like myself and has a lot of hardcore games, technically there are about 30 million max active 3ds systems being used, the other 30million'ish are sitting in drawers or in second hand shops not selling.
I don't know how Ninty think they can take back the smartphone audience. Pretty much impossible now.
@rockodoodle that'd be perfect! But heh, what to do? They're following their own path. Finances-wise it'd be better to only own one console to play all games
Imagine an open world Pokemon game! No new Pokemon, no new gimmicks, just a massive Pokemon adventure.
You set out in Pallet town, you still have gyms and what not, but you can go anywhere, all the regions, as and when you please.
You can join guilds, so you could be a breeder, a trainer, a collector or even join team rocket if you fancy! Use the Zelda engine, make it happen, make me happy....
I guess a lot of people just want a Nintendo version of PS4. The last time Nintendo released a console that was on par with the competition was the Gamecube. It didn't fair so well and gave Nintendo the impression that people want something different from the competition. I guess that's why NX isn't your PS4 clone.
Im not happy ... focus seems to be on competing with the mobile phone market! I want a modern powerful home console base with a removable portable unit! Really hope this splitting up the controls thing is a rumour. I have no interest in playing 2 player games on something far smaller than a 7" tablet! As for power- Playing Last of Us on Vita just now (bought the L2/R2 attachment) and it runs perfectly ... actually plays the same (great!!)and looks much sharper on the Vitas OLED screen. If I was buying an NX it would have to offer a similar or preferably better experience to the PS4's remote play! Ive got a phone if I want to play mobile games ... I dont!!!
AND I HOPE THEYVE LEARNED THEIR LESSON FROM SONY VITA'S AND 3DS's MISTAKES. EVERY CONSOLE SINCE ABOUT 2000 HAS NEEDED A FULL SUITE OF (INDUSTRY STANDARD FOR ALMOST 20 YEARS) BUTTONS. I DONT WANT TO HAVE TO STUMP UP CASH FOR ANOTHER LUDICROUS LOOKING CIRCLE PAD PRO OR VITA L2/R2!!! HAVING TO BUY EXTRA BUTTONS FOR YOUR CONSOLE TO MAKE GAMES PLAYABLE IS """COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE!!!!"""
First, Iwata/DeNA announce intent to venture into mobile gaming. We know Animal Crossing mobile is coming. Pokemon Go is an absolute juggernaut. And now inside word that:
Nintendo seems set on trying to upgrade smartphone gamers.
I strongly suspect that the NX marketing campaign began all the way back with that Iwata-inked partnership 16 months ago and that these mobile games are lures into a larger system. Why tie a new Pokemon title into Sun/Moon, when you could reach a larger non-traditional gaming market by integrating it with Pokemon Go? (A new Pokemon Stadium?) They are swimming in free PR right now... Throw in a Zelda title at launch and we're off to the races. It would be brilliant marketing.
Were this to be true...I would love them forever just for the foresight!
@AlliMeadow the same can be said for Zelda and Mario :/. But I hope this is fake along with the nx being some weird handheld...
Handhelds in my opinion have more/get more mediocre games than home consoles. Psp,ds,vita,3ds compared to their stationary counterparts. So I hope it's fake ._.
I doubt they´d make a new Pokémon game that soon after Sun & Moon, but then again...
Just make Pokémon Snap 2!!!
I think the idea of a handheld with power between a PS3 and a PS4 is pretty impressive, especially if it can run on my TV too. I love the whole concept, and I really hope these rumors are true. Mainly I just hope they give me a not-too-chunky form factor so I can easily haul it around with me, and so I don't look too childish playing it on the train on the way to/from work. If they hit these power specs and make it look like something people are proud to use, they might be able to hit that smartphone upgrader demographic.
Everyone prattles on about power like the 3DS doesn't have an awesome lineup of great games. 3DS has been one of the best systems ever for the number and quality of games, and it is out-powered by virtually any phone you are using to read NintendoLife. My sense is that those obsessed with console power have not been following the video game industry long enough. As Nintendo used to say back in the 80s, "the name of the game is the game." Power is only relevant insofar as it leads developers to produce good games.
@DarkmarkUnited yep and not sure why people are still in denial about the NX being a handheld.
There has not been one source who has argued it not being a handheld since Eurogamer article came out.
@Yorumi You have to understand though however that gamers are all about what's next. Why should I buy a Wii u over a Xbox one? Well you shouldn't and although the game pad is cool and unique it's not enough to beat the Xbox one. Nintnedo isn't trying to outpower it's rivals but trying to make a unique way to play games. The NX can cross the bridge between home and portable for the first time ever in the complete sense.
@Yorumi to be fair to Nintendo. They did have third parties on board but they all bailed once they saw Wii U was a Bomba.
Same happened with Vita. Should be a word of warning regarding the NX. When you see Nintendo announce 3rd party partners don't take it as a given.
These publishers will sign up as long as the machine sells.
With the look of all the design speculations its not making even want to bother with botw on that platform. I can't imagine playing it that way at all.
@westman98 Well, that sounds nice and all on paper, but it only doubled the current sales. The game's almost two years old, so it wasn't selling a lot to begin with. If it's a bump from a 1,000 to 2,000 a week, that's not a lot. And let's see how long this will last first. Unless Sun & Moon sell RB numbers, I really have to wonder how much impact the mobile games will have. It's a little, but not a massive boost like some pretend them to be.
I was hoping that the NX would be a console that would bring Nintendo back to the premiership, with a console that would have the power to impress, 3rd party AAA support equivalent to the XBoxOne and PS4 and Nintendo's innovation.
Power to attract gamers and keep loyal Nintendo gamers from being tempted to purchase a rival system. (The likes of myself).
Yet over these last two weeks I've gone from excitement to disappointment and now with quotes like this:
"It's a nice bit of kit, a bit of a novelty, but a good one. It won't appeal to PS4 fans. Nintendo seems set on trying to upgrade smartphone gamers. That's going to be a big job for the marketing department."
With the total mess the Nintendo marketing dept (especially here in the UK) did with the WiiU this seems an uphill struggle before it's even started..
Smartphone gamers play free games, with in app purchases during commuting or in lunch breaks but they still make calls, text, interact on social media etc as a primary function of their smart phone and would probably have a game consol or handheld at home (That's what I do).
So Why would a smartphone gamer abandoned that for the NX unless the next rumour to be released is that the NX will have a mobile phone sim slot and can allow the NX to receive calls. Hey the NX is a smartphone! Ridiculous!
I know these are all still officially just rumours but it is looking less likely that the NX is going to be a serious gaming console/handheld and more like a smartphone handheld hybrid targeted toward the casual gamer and lost Wii user base (Ubisoft refered to it as).
I reserve proper judgement until the official reveal by Nintendo but my eagerness to purchase at day one, as I did for the N64, GameCube, Wii and WiiU has turned to caution due to past experience of Nintendo commercial failures (although I've enjoyed each one, with the acceptance that those AAA cross platform titles where never going to be released on them) and that saying "once bitten twice shy"
Nintendo still owe us a proper Animal Crossing for NX. Better they started to make proper new Animal Crossing games.
...Y'know what? I wish Nintendo would reveal the damn thing already. Not because I want to see what it is, no no no...it's because I just want these rumors to die already!
The Pokemon bit makes me doubt this rumor at all. They've never switched hardware mid-generation. Next year's main series game, which should be a third version/sequel to Sun/Moon, should be a 3DS game. Then in 2018 we would get Gen 8 on NX. For the record, that's only 1 year after the platform's launch, which is half the time it took for the DS and the 3DS to receive a main series Pokemon game.
So either:
-Game Freak is working on a spinoff
-Next year's game is Gen 8 already, meaning Gen 7 is a one-entry generation
-The NX is backwards compatible with 3DS games.
-This information is partially or completely false.
The NX is LESS powerful than a PS4? Nintendo can do what they want, is ridiculous unless the price is $200 or less. Wow.
@G0dlike
Um... somewhat like Pokepark Wii ?
Nice idea, but at least there are an option to play as human with looks customization. Explore the beauty of the Pokemon world, Fighting ala Pokken (Not stiff and boring old Pokemon games style), befriend with other Pokemons and customize the world.
Gong to be a tough sell... Nintendo needs to remember that often times a smart phone cost is forgot and often mislabeled in people mind as free.
Don't know if this strategy will work well or not.
"It's a nice bit of kit, a bit of a novelty, but a good one. It won't appeal to PS4 fans. Nintendo seems set on trying to upgrade smartphone gamers. That's going to be a big job for the marketing department."
@Alundra-1998 don't get hopes up... ps4 can't even do 4k well.
Well if this is true (pillar of salt) then that covers the trifecta...so end of the world about the happen?
@Yoshis_VGM I agree. But, I smell a conspiracy with that comment. Why just mention the PS4, when there's also the remarkably similar Xbox1? Sounds like someone doesn't want the PS4 to be overshadowed.
Mario and Pokemon would be the smart choice for the early era. NX needs a strong base or third parties will gloss it over. Apparently leaning towards pumping power that would have been a console into a portable is still an interesting idea.
@readyletsgo so right. Same for me. I waited forever to get a Wii U. I finally got one when the details for Mario kart was released.
There is no way a day one for me...
@123akis your typo is a bad omen. But I agree with you
@Linkinabottle yes but... all Nintendo created software (excluding games) has been pretty bad.
Wii was aweful and Wii u is more aweful.
The software is slower than Ubuntu mate on a raspberry pi....
@Yorumi I think the "getting smartphone gamers to upgrade" comment is just the executive's opinion, not Nintendo's actual strategy.
In the same article, it mentions Nintendo targeting an audience "that sits between smartphone gamers and the more hadrcore users of PS4 and Xbox One." That's probably more in line with Nintendo's actual strategy.
I have no problem with what was quoted regarding the NX idea behind it. As for him saying that NX won't appeal to PS4 fans, I find this to be a good thing. I have a PS4 and only play one game for it. So, maybe I'll trade it in towards the purchase of an NX. I'm looking forward to it.
I'm more of a casual gamer nowadays anyways. I don't play on phones but I'll try this new platform Nintendo is working on. So far this "idea" is interesting to me.
@Alundra-1998 There is ZERO chance that the NX can do gaming in 4K. Not even the PS4 Neo can do that. The NX will be comparable to original model Xbox One and PS4, but Nintendo has no interest in 4K gaming (mainly because very few people have 4K TVs, and the NX would have to cost like $1200 to be as small as they are trying to get it with the power of a Xbox One Scorpio).
@A01
I know right. Lol
I subracted from that portion of the comment that was made. It was eyebrow raising worthy... But I'm not concerned about power as much as most 3rd parties and a legion of gamers are.
@Danrenfroe2016 I just read it again, I don't see any typos? What's omen?
I don't know whether to be excited or worried at this point. Glad it's most likely gonna at least have portable elements to it (portable consoles are my favs). Just waiting for Nintendo to make an official announcement, as these rumors are either on point or going to make the NX seem like something it's not.
While I'm waiting for official confirmation, I just hope it has decent third party support. And that doesn't necessarily mean it has to have the latest COD or even GTA (though it would be nice to have the options).
New Nintendo machine has a Super Mario game as a launch title?
REALLY?!?
REALLY?!??!?!
There is no facepalm big enough for this rumor.
It's not exactly shocking that the "NX" will have flagship titles very early on. I would be very surprised if a Mario game wasn't a launch title as it has been 3 years since 3D World was released.
I am hoping to see the first 12 months of the NX to be littered with quality titles.
game development was cancelled on the Wii U and moved to NX remember.
first 12 months should be awesome for games.
@Octane Please don't tell me you believe Sun/Moon selling 30+ million copies like Red/Blue is the bar that must be cleared in order to acknowledge of Pokémon Go's impact on mainline Pokémon software sales. That's ridiculous. In fact, only two handheld games in history have ever sold over 30 million; one of them is Pokemon Red/Blue on the GB, and the other is the original NSMB on the DS.
http://www.mcvuk.com/news/read/3ds-sales-up-over-200-per-cent-as-pok-mon-go-phenomenon-continues/0170682
3DS hardware sales were up over 200% last week YOY due to Pokémon Go. All 3DS Pokémon titles sold over 9000 copies combined. And this is just to UK, a region that Nintendo has struggled in this generation, even for the 3DS.
What I am trying to say is that attracting mobile gamers to buy a dedicated gaming platform is possible, because it is happening as we speak. But in order for the NX to receive the same sales push the 3DS is receiving right now, it needs to be cheap, and Nintendo needs to make sure their own mobile experiences are compelling enough to ensure the mobile-to-handheld transition is possible.
“Nintendo didn’t learn”
Well... let’s see.
N64, GCN, Xbox One, Vita, powerful consoles that were dedicated to hardcore gamers, none of them sold very well, yes, I’m including One, that thing has sold 20 millions or so, and the upgrade is coming pretty soon, it will sell 5 more millions probably.
Wii, DS, consoles that everyone said will fail miserably... those are two of the three best selling consoles of all time.
I’m pretty sure Nintendo has learned... a lot.
@Yorumi I think if they go after any casuals this time, it will be different from the DS/Wii. With those two systems, their goal was to expand the general gaming population by appealing to people who had no prior interest in video games at all. With NX, it seems like they'll be targeting non-gamers who already have an interest in gaming and pre-existing gamers who want an alternative.
I think that positioning themselves as an alternative makes sense when you consider the types of games it will get: Nintendo 1st party games, indies, and Japanese 3rd party games. I don't see them getting a lot of big AAA western 3rd party support - and I actually think that would be the case even if it was a PS4 clone. So positioning yourself as the alternative should be natural.
Would love a game similar to Pokemon on 3DS but for the NX. That would be great!
A remake of the original Pokemon Red and Blue with full open work 3D graphics on NX would be a dream come true!
Pokemon NX doesn't necessarily have to be a main series game. Probably more akin to Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness with some more depth (and more of the main series mechanics thrown in)
I don't understand this concept of Nintendo 'choosing' not to compete with Sony and Microsoft. Nintendo will be competing with them regardless if it wants to or not.
It's like a pizza shop opening in the same shopping center of another pizza shop and the owner claiming he won't be competing with the other... It just doesn't make sense.
@Yorumi Agreed. We saw some of that with over the top action games like Bayonetta 2 and Devil's Third on Wii U, as well as games like Monster Hunter on the 3DS. They definitely need to do more of that.
Beyond Good & Evil 2 is a nice start
@wiggleronacid I agree, but it's more like a pizza shop specializing in grinders, pasta, appetizers along with the pizza, while the other pizza shops still pump out the same old pizza just loading it with more toppings and asking if people still like it. While yes, they still are both pizza shops competing, the Nintendo pizza shop has more to offer than just your typical pizza. This is what Nintendo is referring to by "not in competition".
"Now trade publication MCV has been leveraging its sources and has shared some insights of its own - naturally they're to be treated as rumours at this point."
That's all I take out of this article. Rumours, rumours and more rumours. Once again Nintendolife delivers another nothing article. I'm just waiting for some actual Nintendo press releases instead of this.
It's like the videogame equivalent of fishwives.
@wiggleronacid
Anti-mainstream people usually not interested compete with someone. So, Nintendo is in same case. Being out of the box that typical of Anti-mainstream makes Nintendo unique. Just let Nintendo being unique.
"Upgrade smartphone gamers"??
What does that mean to us traditional gamers?? Doesn't sound too promising!!
@Danrenfroe2016
Wii wasn't awful at all. At least i have 15 -20 selected games that suitable with my taste. Power is important but Power is not everything. I'm still satisfied even with Wii technology. Instead, PS3, PS4 technology just make me sick. I hate those console. Not because the HD graphic, but the game content itself. Tons of mature games, almost no choices for Kid-friendly games, why should i choose bad consoles like that ?
Mario is a given. Question is, what Mario exactly? Will it be another quick New Super Mario Bros entry like NSMBU or the next 3D Mario entry?
Pokemon is interesting. It would normally scream a spin off if not for the fact Game Freak is working on it. Bit too early for a new entry in the series with Sun/Moon coming in November. Maybe an all new Stadium type game, or could they finally be playing that MMORPG card people have begged them to play for god knows how long?
Mario Maker should be pre-loaded onto the system. BOOM! SALES! mic drop
Logically they could actually make a real game that uses some of the elements from pokemon go.
I have never been less excited for a new Nintendo console in my entire life and I've been around for the launch of all of them. I hate to sound like a pessimist, but nothing about these rumors of the NX sparks my interest - and it definitely sounds like I'm not alone.
That said, I am happy to hear that there are fans that are genuinely excited for the NX. The last thing I want to see is Nintendo struggle with another unpopular, lackluster console.
Trying to stay hopeful that Nintendo comes out and surprises and delights us all with the official unveiling.
If true, then this confirms what I've been predicting this whole time. Nintendo seems to be returning to what they got right with the Wii, while refining and updating it for 2017. In that case, I'm glad.
I know the Nintendo Fandom doesn't want to hear this, but Nintendo made a lot of right moves with the Wii. The Wii U was poorly designed mess that damaged Nintendo's reputation. So taking what made the Wii great, and simply refining and improving it is what they should've done with the Wii U, not toss everything out and confuse people.
This makes the NX sound even worse than the Eurogamer report did, why go after smartphone "gamers" I use that term loosely as the majority only play them because they're simple (the games, not them) free and available on the device already in their hands. They will not buy a console and then buy far more complex games. Nintendo should be targeting real gamers, many of which may have actually grown up playing Nintendo games
@Anti-Matter I'm sorry but I have a PS4 and there are many kid friendly games on the console with the likes of Knack, Littlebigplanet, Tearaway, Ratchet and Clank, Rayman, Disney infinity, Skylanders, Lego games. Soon there is Kingdom Hearts, World of Final Fantasy, Ni No Kuni 2 a couple of Sonic games, Crash Bandicoot Trilogy, more Skylanders, Dragon Quest, some VR playroom and I suspect there are many that I haven't mentioned.
If you don't like PS4 that's fine but let's not pretend there are few kid friendly games because it's simply not true
@Anti-Matter
PS3 and PS4 have loads of kid-friendly games. If you don't like them that's down to your taste but don't pretend they don't exist.
@carlos82
To be honest, even PS4 have some kid-friendly games, but NONE of them attract me. NONE OF THEM. Why ?
1. Western games. I don't like games created by Western developer. Simply, my trust about them below than 1 %. Even titles like Knack, Littlebigplanet, Tearaway, Ratchet and Clank, Rayman, Disney infinity, Skylanders, etc NEVER impressed me at all. Never like the style, gameplay concept, trivias, genre, etc. BUT, the only Western game that i like MOST is... The Sims series. Simply, mindblowing gameplay, full customization, relax gameplay. But, 1 great Western title is not enough to attract me for overall.
2. Some Western games just TOO Mainstream like Star Wars, Angry Bird, Harry Potter, Marvel Heroes, etc. I NEVER like Mainstream hype like that. Just simply stupid for me. Not awesome at all. I want something Cute, colorful, not following trends, unique like some Japanese developer did.
So, What games that make me impressed ?
1. Done by Japanese developer. I trust Japanese developer for making good quality games, so my games collections basically 99% dominated by Japanese developers. Why? Because Japanese developer offered me something Special that i didn't find on Western games. Some Japanese developers know how to make games with cute and charming looking.
2. Must be APPROPRIATE. Maximum TEEN rating. I still allowed Teen games but not much as E and E10 games.
Nintendo have TONS of E and E10 games, some Teen games, few Adult games while SONY has TONS of Adult games, some Teen games, very few E until E10 games.
So, Basically I trust Japanese developers a lot than Western developers. I don't pretend there are no kid-friendly on PS3 and PS4 but SONY offered me with BLAH kid-friendly games while Nintendo offered me with some WOW kid-friendly games. So, which should i choose ?
@electrolite77
I don't pretend it doesn't have any kid-friendly games on PS3 and PS4 but when i looked at the consoles itself, i saw ADULT machine, not a kid-friendly machine. Unfortunatelly, almost ALL kid-friendly on both PS3 and PS4 are NOT my taste. Too Western, Too mainstream, Boring gameplay, Boring concepts, BLAH result. Very contrary with Nintendo. The games like Cooking Mama, Fantasy Life, Animal Crossing New Leaf, Mario Kart series, etc are Instant Buy from me.
@Ichiban You can disagree with him but do so in a more constructive manner as comments like that may just unnecessarily antagonise users. (Jazzer)
@Anti-Matter good thing cooking mama is not on ps4 but I did have it for free on the iPad. Nintendo does charge you 20 bucks for that game. Enjoy
New Mario Maker or Kart and Im in.
@Anti-Matter choose whichever games you like of course, I never disputed this only that you said there were few options on Playstation when clearly that isn't the case. Oh and you do realise that there are plenty of Japanese developed games on the Japanese Sony Playstation
Instead of possible games, Id like Nintendo to finally unveil what the NX is. They havent even given a date to their fans on when it will eventually be announced. I expect a mario game to of course be announced but i still have my doubts if its a 3d mario fans have been waiting for. Ugh. im sick of rumors.
Using breath of the wilds physics engine
@Ichiban
Ah...Yes. If i have to admit. I'm very pickier when talking about games. Very hard to be pleased.
@carlos82
Okay, i will continue my history between Sony. Used to be played PS1 and PS2 + Love both of them. Those both machines have well balanced library games, even kid-friendly games from both machines attracted me to buy. But, only on Japanese version machine, not USA version machine ( Because my best games mostly on Japanese version). When PS3 launched, my trust with Sony gradually ruined into ashes, because tons of adult games dominated PS3 and i can't find any decent games like PS2 or PS1 before. I felt extremely disappointed and then i left from Sony in rage, Switch back to Nintendo again for continuation my game collections. When NDS introduced, i saw a lot of interesting titles both from Japan and Western, even some of them not so really impressed me much but still okay to watch the gameplay from Youtube.
So, even there are some Japanese developers on Sony games, but... None of them make me interested like they did on Nintendo. The Sony image of being an Adult machines ruined my trust, even there are some games developed by well-known developers such as SquareEnix, Capcom, Namco, Level-5, etc. I don't choose Sony machines anymore because it has been labeled as an Adult machines for me. And what me sick even more, i saw tons of adult games from PS4 displayed almost everywhere in my country, especially inside the Malls. And i think to myself, what the heck is going on and how disgusting to realized tons of Inappropriate things around me. Tons of Inappropriate adult games from PS4 make me even sicker and never ever buy that product. My trust has been ruined and Sony keep making my pain even worse. Sorry, just want to be honest.
@Ikramali
Yeah... i have enjoyed that and so what ? I never want to play Freebies on smartphone or ipod or ipad. Better i give my money to Nintendo rather to someone else. I have no regret at all. For me, some Freebies games like that are crappy. And one thing, i adore PHYSICAL games, not Digital download games. Never got interested downloading games from internet. Never ever unless if i have owned the physical first.
@Anti-Matter that's cool. It's better you give your money to Nintendo so they can add more smartphone games or more quality games on the console
I'm in no rush to buy NX honestly, really after the Wii U I see no benefit as a consumer buying something like this on say launch night.
"Nintendo seems set on trying to upgrade smartphone gamers"
Impossible!
As for Mario: That will be a New super mario bros of course.
@Anti-Matter sorry, I probably did not make my post clear I meant that the operating system and built-in software for the Wii was terrible, the games were great, well, a lot of the games were great.
I am worried about Nintendo still being several steps behind when it comes to the built-in features of the operating system and such.
I'm surprised how many people still think the next Mario game will be yet another NSMB game. Miyamoto has hinted at some pretty big changes coming for the Mario franchise. Expected Zelda Breath of the Wild-esque shifts in the core gameplay and structure in the next Mario game.
Also, Nintendo really needs to nail the marketing for this platform. I see a ton of people who are pissed about the NX, not because they think the device itself is bad as a portable with a TV-out, but because it isn't the ultra-powerful traditional home console successor to the Wii U that many expected after a year-and-a-half of NX hardware speculation.
@Danrenfroe2016
Yeah, i admitted the flaw of Wii like Wii Connect24, Wii eshop, Gamecube memory card issues on Wii, etc. Same case with 3DS that Youtube on 3DS seems worse than Youtube on Wii U that we can access from Internet Browser and did better than 3DS. Despite the flaws, still delivered some wonderful titles.
@Grumblevolcano Still, it's around the same time.
@123akis " I'm not expecting the Wii U to be a powerhouse but if it's too underpowered, then it's just gonna fail like the Wii U! "
You said wii u instead of NX.
@Danrenfroe2016 Haha omg I did not notice! 😂😂 Thanks for telling me, I just edited it. A big mistake yet I still got 5 likes on the comment!
for crying out loud just tell us what it looks like Nintendo!!!
@Anti-Matter you mean you don't like this? This is what Nintendo desperately needs, according to quite a few people on here Look at the variety, look at the diversity!
@WiltonRoots
Sorry, if i must to tell the truth about me, i HATE all those guys with looking like that. I HATE THEM. I HATE every single adult games. I'm not looking characters like that. I'm looking for Cartoonish, Whimsical, Cute characters like Mario series , MySims series and Animal Crossing series. So, forget ALL those HD characters, i HATE them all. I don't care about that diversity. I DON'T NEED THAT IN MY LIFE. I'm tired with those HD graphic. It will definetely not working at all for me. Just give me CUTE characters like above, i'll prepare my money from my wallet. Don't give me adult games characters !
One thing about me if you don't know yet, i'm not looking WESTERN games like that. I'm only looking 99.99% games that developed by JAPANESE developers. My games priority just ONLY Everyone and Everyone10+, with a few of TEEN games. So far, i just only have 1 TEEN Nintendo games and it is The Sims 3 3DS. Sorry if i have to tell my truth that can be hurting your feeling.
Oh, one thing again. Nintendo doesn't need the characters like that. Completely disgusting. Just let's Nintendo keep being KIDDY, CUTE , and KID-FRIENDLY. I'll definetely Stick on Nintendo.
One thing about me, I'm a Kiddie gamer, even i'm already 31 years old.
@Anti-Matter I was only messing around. But yeah none of those types of games in the pic I posted appeal to me. I much prefer art style over attempted realism.
@WiltonRoots
Thank you for understanding me.
