They made his ears smaller and gave him a bigger tumtum. Weird they'd contrast it so sharply with how skinny he is in the movie.
Not much to be bothered by, even if I wonder why they made him fat. (imo the slight change just makes him looks like he's been snacking on the banana hoard)
I obsessively played THUG growing up. It was so fun, I would seriously cry if they remastered both. I really hope it happens; the new generation needs to learn that Eric Sparrow sucks!
And with Bam being confirmed to be back in 3+4.... sky is the limit!
Always loved Bam. Glad he's finally finding a footing and pulling himself out of the hole. Wouldn't be the same without him, but it's even better that he's getting over his addiction.
Baldi is a very strange game but is amusing for what it is. I actually thought he was done working on this, so this is a huge surprise. I hope he finds a publisher, shouldn't be too hard considering the game was a fairly decent hit when it first released.
@Henmii The Switch will almost certainly continue to receive games and DLC for at least two more years, but I think it will begin to slow down partway into that. Depends how many people migrate to Switch 2 and how many people continue to buy content on the original Switch. Third parties will definitely continue for at least two years more.
This game is slick, fast, violent, and soul shattering if you really follow the story. I've been chomping at the bit for this update for years. About time they freaking acknowledge it again!
@TenEighty You definitely don't have to like these games but saying "this is not video gaming" is weird. These games are just as valid as Mario. I love both Mario and Manhunt, which is most definitely not a family friendly game. (And based on your reaction here I would definitely recommend you NOT look up.)
There is room for both and shunning one or the other is bad. Again, not liking them is perfectly fine.
It's absolute bull that Mario vs DK is $5 extra digitally, but this is still as close a price as I'll ever bite for. Nintendo never puts old games on sale once they move to a new generation, so this may be one of the last chances.
This was pretty clearly not using anything Nintendo related, but I also wonder how old the store is? Probably not more than 40 years, but if it was that also should eliminate any chance of Nintendo having a say.
I love Nintendo's developers, but their cancerous business side makes it really hard to like them.
@TheExile285 Bamco is pretty weird. Outside of surefire hits they don't seem to advertise much. It's like they place all these oddity projects they do into the word of mouth basket and just expect it to thrive.
It's weird that "it has to be great" is headline worthy, but it's Sonic, so...
I hope they learned their lesson this time. Frontiers did a lot right, but gameplay wasn't one of them. I really hope we don't get another spectacle on-rails game that breaks and falls apart the moment you try nudging in any direction.
@Dee123 You don't know what these words mean. Terraria has been going strong for over a decade, it's had physical toys on market shelves, and has been ported to everything under the sun, even the 3DS. Terraria is doing incredibly well and has been since 2011, to the point where even when official support ended, it continued to be so successful they came back and continued to update it again.
Palworld has already slipped past being FOTM, we are currently in those "low lows" you speak of and yet they're on a hotstreak with updates and collabs.
Please don't use words you don't actually understand.
Rare: "Banjo-Kazooie is just too dated, it wouldn't work in the modern era..."
Also Rare: "Wanna buy more merch from our ICONIC series Banjo-Kazooie?! Here's a deep cut figure!"
Say one thing, do another. I'm not upset BK is getting merch, but I AM upset that the blockheads at Rare are in charge of it. Seriously, how many figures and how much merch has BK been slapped on now compared to platformer rivals?
Sonic will be slapped on anything with a merchandising pulse, Mario the same as long as they can charge an absurd fee, those are given, but like... Banjo's up there. But they desperately pretend he's not.
Until this moment I believed this was a pure 1:1 port of DKC to the gameboy... interesting. I sucked so bad at this game as a kid I never saw much of the new content lol.
@Bolt_Strike You might be waiting awhile. I don't think TPC would add them without being a separate re-release paid for some kind of premium. Pretty greedy sort over there.
Oh wow, so Kirkhope will be too busy to do music for Playtonic/Yooka Laylee games now? That's a shame, but I look forward to seeing what this team does.
@GravyThief I played a lot of Prime as a kid, some Prime 2 (little in comparison) and I remember 3 being SUCH a jarring tonal whiplash from the first two that it put me off playing it. It felt way more scripted and on rails with all the dialogue and I didn't like it-- in hindsight I realize they were setting up the game, but I can agree it was a REALLY jarring change of pace from what I expected out of anything Metroid.
So, did MP2 walk so Hunters could run? I never played much of 2, but I DID play Hunters to death. This makes me think they took the multiplayer of 2 and tried to flesh it out a ton with Hunters. Maybe I'm dead wrong, though.
I genuinely hope this will get ported to PC/consoles eventually. I know it will not be anytime soon, but once the interest dries up or they look to replace the units in the (probably very far) future? Not that bad an idea to double dip on it, eh? Ehhhh?
Boom was so weird. The part Sega wanted to matter, imploded in their faces since they're addicted to sabotaging themselves. The part they didn't, ended up taking off and shielding Sonic's rep by embracing the absurdity. Ah well, at least the show burned bright while it was around. Bright enough to mostly blind everyone from Rise of Lyric.
@Erigen I don't think they want to. It seems after Rare was forced to rock the boat with Adventures and then, Namco worked on Assault right?, this has been the status quo. They're terrified to do anything that isn't chasing the highs of SF64.
Tempted for $30... I hope this does well enough for Croc 2 to get a remaster. I'd seriously adore a 3rd entry but I'm getting ahead of myself! I grew up with an N64 and Banjo in particular, but I loved playing Croc whenever I had the chance.
@HeadPirate I wondered for the longest time why Rare Replay never even so much as got a consideration of a port to PC. I guess this explains why, which is pretty heartbreaking but makes complete sense. If it'd been released a couple years later during the Play Anywhere push, maybe! (though I realize that would have ruined the 30-year anniversary aspect.)
0 was made ten years after the series initially began, so having played it after Kiwami didn't bother me at all. 0 is great but it's not necessary. It adds to Kiwami, but is not necessary.
I dont care for the changes but also am not incredibly upset about them. It's just another mandate that won't mean anything in ten years when the series gets another tonal shift. I guess I'm just apathetic at this point to idiot execs making decisions.
But, yes, Sonic fans will always complain. Some valid, some not, some 100% insane, but there will always be complaints.
I get his point but every business wants the lowest risk for the highest reward. Even Nintendo. Some devs end up getting so much goodwill and success that they can go on to create passion projects, but that's pretty rare unless you're a self funded indie dev.
This thing seems like a neat novelty gift, but that price is insane. I know it's priced that way because of the name slapped on, but how long could this thing even last running 24/7 with screens like that?
If I'm reading this right, they're not thrilled with the changes but they're more annoyed their comments were mistranslated? I can understand that. They seem to be heavily pedantic here though, but as someone who doesnt understand the language I can't say much on it.
Nintendo Life staff does this on purpose. So do other sites that report on these games while aware Nintendo will scream and roll around on the floor foaming at the mouth if someone even considers doing anything with their creations.
Just hope this article gets buried, fast, so the blood sucking lawyers don't find it.
I've only played the first Ryza but I really enjoyed it. The one issue I have with Koei as a publisher is that they rarely put games on sale, and with a mountain of Atelier games coming out at a rapid pace that stings on the wallet. It took them about four years to even put Warriors All Stars on sale again! They're so stingy.
I am over the moon about this. I was unreasonably giga hyped for Shredder's Revenge and played it through far too many times. I yelled when I saw the release date trailer reveal Casey. I loved this, and the DLC, to bits. And now I have an excuse to replay it for the nine millionth time!
@LadyCharlie I think the reasoning is she wasn't in the 80s cartoon series. Then again, neither was Karai. Still, Venus has appeared in recent comics, so if the game can reach a third DLC, who knows? DLC 3 being Irma and Venus as playable characters would be perfectly insane.
@Markatron84 There needs to be a monkeys paw curl to this. They forced the devs to make Mania 2 on the Sonic Heroes engine, or Charmy is the sole playable character. It's not Sonic Team without absolutely bonkers self sabotage.
Sony still owns this, right? Are Namco just doing a deal with Sony similar to how Nintendo is with Sega and Bayonetta? Very strange, but in a good way.
I already own this game, but I'm tempted to double dip... I play a Yakuza game every October as that feels like the perfect season for it (the fall season, colder, gets darker much earlier. Not spooky related lol). Was going to start Like A Dragon, but maybe that can wait till next October..
@Bunkerneath The only reasonable answer as to why they took so long is that they probably pored over everything and checked as much as they could. They wanted as solid of a case as possible. Or, if you want a more cynical take, waited until they were safely rolling in all that cash so Nintendo could come and try to vacuum it up.
I personally hope Pocketpair comes out unscathed, but we don't know what exactly Nintendo is suing for, so maybe it will actually be something justified.
(Also, if you scroll up in the comments, you can find a ton of comments by HeadPirate who was doing a lot of sleuthing last night into the situation. Very informative stuff!)
@HeadPirate I am a massive idiot, and I appreciate your summaries/speculations on what could be happening with this. The peak of my brainpower is "nintendo stupid wtf are they doing"-- not going to figure out much myself.
