Re: Nintendo Is Preparing For Even More Movies In The Future, Unsurprisingly

Elbow

Genuinely sad that they decided to go for a live action Zelda film. Maybe it'll be good, but I think the Mario movie was superior to all three Sonic films combined simply because it embraced animation instead of live-action gunk. I hope more films are animated, and that we eventually get an animated Zelda film, too.

Re: 68 Switch 1 & 2 Games You Should Check Out In The 'Screaming Deals' eShop Sale (North America)

Elbow

Want to add my own 2 cents about Kaze and the Wild Masks. I bought it several years ago. It has great level design, the gameplay is tight enough, the art design is really nice... but it just didn't click with me. I'm not trying to scare anyone off, but it felt like it followed Donkey Kong Country to a fault without finding something unique to push itself forward.

It's a super faithful DKC love letter, but I personally felt like it didn't aim to do more than that. I'm not even trying to scare anyone away from it because it IS a well designed game and is definitely worth that sale price, just wanted to share how I felt.

Re: Croc's Switch Remaster Returns This Week With A Free 'Platinum Edition' Update

Elbow

@Metal-Slug Pretty sure it is getting a physical release from LRG

And, unrelated to that, I bought this day one on Xbox as there were probably only.... five people in total who did so. Put my money where my mouth is not only for Croc's return but that Xbox is (..okay, was) a place for all games. That was in April, so this year progressing as it has.... has made that a very depressing topic lol

Re: Review: Pac-Man World 2 Re-Pac (Switch 2) - Short, Sweet, Prettified, And Not For Everyone

Elbow

Adding to this a day after: I've just completed the game, and the reviewer really sold short the amount of content this game has to offer. There is post-game content that's basically an epilogue of 6 levels and remixed bossfights, with a story attached, AND a post-post game challenge that also has a story AND a callback to World 1. There's so much to do in this, please don't let this review scare you off. There's easily 13+ hours of content, and that's WITHOUT 100% the game.

Re: Aspyr Brings Deus Ex Remastered To Switch Next February

Elbow

@PKDuckman I imagine — not defending this practice by Aspyr, by the way-- that Nightdive is costly. Since they actually put real effort into their remasters. So Aspyr just... excretes AI-upscaled gunk instead. Which I'm genuinely saddened by. Deus Ex deserves SO much better.

Re: WWE 2K25 Online Shutdown Date Revealed Just Months After Switch 2 Release

Elbow

I stopped buying these games a long time ago. It broke my heart when I realized all the memories and characters and stuff I put into the 2008 version is just gone, or at least hanging on to life support on my (one day to cease) hard drive.. Not that I'd expect a ton of people to play that version still, but... yeah. Planned obsolescence for this stuff is the easiest pass of my life.

Re: "It Was A Bit Of A Perplexing Experience" - Hideki Kamiya On The Fan Reaction To Bayonetta 3

Elbow

I didn't really click with Viola's combat style but I didn't hate the game either. It was fine, I've played all of them and got them all at release. There were some cool ideas and I'd rather they do what they want rather than stick to some rigid formula.

I also never once got any impression of Bayo and Jeanne being anything more than friendly rivals. I was shocked when that particular backlash hit, people read far too deep and clung way too hard to head canons on that one.

Re: Antonblast Appears To Be Jumping On The Virtual Boy Bandwagon

Elbow

@N00BiSH It's a very small homebrew community, which is the word I should've used instead of indie, but there are people making cool stuff for it yeah. If you look up Planet Virtual Boy on google, it should be the first result. Results of course vary, but there's tech demonstrations to new unique games and even work in progress stuff like a Doom port. It's cool stuff to see!

Re: Antonblast Appears To Be Jumping On The Virtual Boy Bandwagon

Elbow

If Nintendo embraced the *homebrew community around VB and added their games to the service, that would be an immediate boon and novelty to the addition. (Not saying Anton blast should be added as this is just a palette swap thing.)

Alas, Nintendo despises that. No fun for us.

*Edit: Replaced 'indie' with homebrew as that's more accurate.

Re: Mega Man Star Force: Legacy Collection Brings DS RPGs To Switch In 2026

Elbow

This is the last bastion between us and a Legends collection. There's nothing left. They've already got a general PS1 emulation setup with X Legacy Pt. 2

Not that it would make porting the Legends games easy, but all three are native on PS1 so some work is already laid out. Unless they decide for some ungodly reason to include 64, and the PSP versions of both Legends..

Though if they included the Legends mobile game from Japan, that would be a pretty sick bonus.

Re: Review: Bubsy In: The Purrfect Collection (Switch) - Limited Run Cleans Out The Kitty Litter

Elbow

It's been said above, but bad games also deserve preservation. I'm happy Atari/LRG put real effort into this, despite knowing they could've just kicked out a barebones collection and try to collect some money off meme. I am curious why they left the modern games out of this collection though.

With that said, bad games are harder to swallow at higher price points. If this gets a deep discount, I will absolutely buy. Probably double dip on PC/Switch or Xbone.

Re: Pac-Man World 2: Re-Pac Looks Waka Waka Wonderful In New Gameplay Trailer

Elbow

The only concerning thing about this is that it's based off World 1 Repac. As in, movement and momentum. World 2 was much faster and snappier than World 1, but they're still using Pac's moveset from 1, which is slower and has a pause with butt bounces. (Development wise it makes sense that they built this remake off the original Repac.)

Now none of this means I'm not excited for it. I am, this is a day ONE buy for me. I just hope the lack of a snappier, faster moveset isnt sorely felt.

Re: Pac-Man World 2: Re-Pac Is A Big Glow-Up On Switch & Switch 2

Elbow

As a Pac-Man fan, I'm so happy this is happening. Not only this, but they're bringing back his voice actor from World 3 from 2005! So we have a great chance at getting a Repac of 3 as well.

These games are really good. They were overshadowed to an extent because they weren't Mario, but Pac can hang with the plumber. The World games are absolutely worth it if you like 3D platformers and if you're on the fence.

Re: Nintendo Unveils Diddy Kong's Brand New Design

Elbow

They made his ears smaller and gave him a bigger tumtum. Weird they'd contrast it so sharply with how skinny he is in the movie.

Not much to be bothered by, even if I wonder why they made him fat. (imo the slight change just makes him looks like he's been snacking on the banana hoard)

Re: Yep, Tony Hawk Fancies An 'Underground' Remaster Too

Elbow

I obsessively played THUG growing up. It was so fun, I would seriously cry if they remastered both. I really hope it happens; the new generation needs to learn that Eric Sparrow sucks!

And with Bam being confirmed to be back in 3+4.... sky is the limit!

Re: Katana Zero's Long-Awaited DLC Is "Still Coming" To Switch

Elbow

@Henmii The Switch will almost certainly continue to receive games and DLC for at least two more years, but I think it will begin to slow down partway into that. Depends how many people migrate to Switch 2 and how many people continue to buy content on the original Switch. Third parties will definitely continue for at least two years more.
