Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (22nd June)

DonierGunad

I'm sticking the same game every weekend until I complete it and that game is Octopath traveller. I bought it on release, played ten hours of it and dropped it. I've been able pile 45 hours over the last 3 weekends and I'm really enjoying it as I am my new approach of playing one game at a time. I'm still getting new ones through the door on pre-order, but I am working on my back log. I've completed 20 games out of the 360 I own for the Switch and in that 20 is thr Xc trilogy which is no small feat to complete with all DLC and DQ11!!. I will complete them all, though I know I'll never do 100% completion.

Re: Gallery: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Is Looking Absolutely Stunning On Switch

DonierGunad

I love this, I totally expect it to crossover to Nintendos next console. My word though, it looks amazing, all that hard those developers have put into it seems to have paid off. Nintendo has really shown the Metroid franchise some real love over theist few years and I couldn't be happier about it. I just hope developers get the appreciation they deserve when it releases.

Re: Xbox's Phil Spencer Reiterates Plan To Put "More Of Our Games On More Platforms"

DonierGunad

I can see Microsoft sharing there games (like they have done) and then making them exclusive to there game pass service and then people will do need to have it to play the next game or particular franchise. Build up a following on rival platforms first then entice them to your service afterwards. It's good personal business, but not good for the industry as a whole in the long run. Anyways I see gaming in future to be very much just a streaming service on PC. If that happens, I'm out.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (1st June)

DonierGunad

I've recently got back into playing Octopath traveller and really stuck at it this time and appreciated the game. I'll admit I got put off because you couldn't just build up money and buy the best weapons, which now I really enjoy this aspect of the game. I'm also playing Bravely Default 2 and really enjoying the story and job system in that game, I want do everything I can in it. Paper TTYD is another one I've been giving time too, I missed out on the GC release and really I got it this time round, its just soooo good!! FF6 pixel remaster is another one I've enjoyed playing alot of recently, I love the story and atmosphere it conveys. Considering this came out in 1994 that's some feat!!

Re: Poll: Is $60 Too Much For Nintendo's Switch Re-Releases?

DonierGunad

I think you really have to look at hiw much work has gone into the port. Paper Mario TTYD didn't just update assests, it overhauled them so £50 (which I bought it for) seems fair. Then again Nintendo expects that sell more than say Metroid Prime, which also had a complete overhaul graphically, and I got the physical copy for £29.99. At the end of the day there business and to them, it's not going to be about how much work has been done, but more, how much they think it will sell. By no means am I saying that labor isn't a factored cost, I'm just saying if they can up the price because they know it will sell, then they will do so.

Re: Nintendo Shares Luigi's Mansion 2 HD 'Rude Awakening' Video

DonierGunad

Played this on the 3DS and really enjoyed my time with it. Going to buy this and play with the kid. I've been meaning to break out my launch day Cube and copy of Luigis mansion I got with it, but my GC and the collection of games I have for it, are wrapped up in bubble wrap with a load of descant packs to soak up any moisture.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (6th April)

DonierGunad

I'm also playing Helldivers 2 with the squad in the evening time(played with them since battlefield 3 on the PS3). Need to seriously work on my backlog. I've completed 36 games out of 320.....it's sage to say I'll never have time to play them all. Out of the 35 that I've completed (100%) included XC1 (two playthroughs and dlc), XC2 (Two playthroughs and torna) XC3 (two playthroughs and dlc), Skyrim including dlc (for the 100th time), Metroid prime remastered(3 playthroughs), Legend of Zelda BoTW (including champions dlc), Tears of the kingdom (only 90% though) and Monster hunter rise+Sunbreak. A good 4000hrs worth of gaming there (monster hunter rise I'm at least 2000 hour in, rookie time lol). Really enjoying Bravely default 2 right about now though and sea of stars

Re: UK Charts: Mario Wonder Narrowly Makes The Top Five As New Releases Fight For Gold

DonierGunad

I remember when I was growing up, Nintendo, bar Mario kart or maybe a Mario platformer, would make the UK multi-platform charts. Since the Wii though (obviously the Wii U there weren't so many) but Nintendo have really smashed here in the UK. Considering it was classed as PlayStation territory, that's really good for them. I'm very happy that month in, month out, Nintendo titles are doing well here. Those dark days of waiting almost a full year after America are over (I know they've been over for a while now, but I still remember them very well).

Re: UK Charts: Prince Of Persia Starts Strong While Another Code Struggles To Make A Splash

DonierGunad

Maybe I've been blind when I've seen these before, but I'm really liking the percentages of formats sold, gives us a better idea. Plus on topic, I'm glad prince of persia has had a strong start. It's a great game series and deserves recognition, the developers did a fantastic job on it and though most of the money goes to Ubisoft and there investors, I feel like strong sales of the game show appreciation for all the hard work the actual workers put in. Best PoP game since warrior within.

Re: Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince Has Already Surpassed One Million Sales

DonierGunad

I've got to say having passed up on DQM joker on the DS back in the day I'm glad I picked this game up (physical copy pre-ordered). I'm a big fan of the DQ series and in my adult years have enjoyed all the spin offs as well including DQ builders and DQ treasures. This game though has got me invested to the point where I can ignore the performance issues because the gameplay is so rewarding. I'll definitely be looking forward to any future entries they may have. Though for me DQ builders 2 is next on the list of spin offs for me to play as I understand it expands on the first one ten fold.

Re: Feature: Nintendo Switch Year In Review 2023 - Our Most Played Games

DonierGunad

I spent a total of 791 hours on switch this year, first place is XC3 second place is XC2 and third place is Metroid Prime remasted and is actually my favourite game of 2023. I played 147 different games......I've decided to limit how much I spend my disposable income on games for 2024.....need to get that massive backlog down. That and put away money for when the new Nintendo console releases.

Re: 129 Switch Games You Should Pick Up In Nintendo's Cyber Deals Sale (North America)

DonierGunad

I have about 280 games for my Switch and I have had only enough time to complete about 20 of those. I think the 260 games I have left will more than do for now. Though I'm still going to pick up DQ the dark Prince when it gets released on the 1/12/23 and batman trilogy. I'm still currently playing through, star ocean second story, XC3, Ocotopath traveller, Red dead, Mario bros wonder, FF12, Trails from Zero, TotK and super mario bros wonder. I'm also going to buy turok 3 next Thursday because I love nightdive games and there remasters.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (November 18th)

DonierGunad

Xenoblade chronicles 3 for majority of the weekend. The whole trilogy has been a labor of love and I'm really looking forward to playing future redeemed but only once I've completed everything posy game ending (like leveling all the classes to max). In total ive spent 700 hours between all 3. That includes NG+ playthroughs of both XC1 and XC2 future connected and Torna.

Re: Square Enix Appears To Be Teasing Another Dragon Quest Announcement

DonierGunad

Either announce Dragon quest 2D-HD for the trilogy. Its the one of the only reasons I can think as to why they have shown nothing since the announcement trailer of DQ3. However, I would also be super hyped for more DQ12. I'm about 180 hours into DQ11 and I'm loving the post game content, but I need mooooooore DQ in my life.

Re: Review: Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 - An Extensive But Imperfect Compilation Of Classics

DonierGunad

I stuck with my PS5 pre-order, purely because of the frame rate and the fact I would've had to download the other 3 titles. If Konami actually patch the Switch version to 60fps (which I highly doubt) I might double dip just so I can have these games on the go. Switch is my preffered platform, however, as I stated above the frame rate and download of the 3 other is a deal breaker for now. It's just such a baffling decision to make really and I hope they see sense on this one. Anyway, I still have the original release of the 3 main titles and a PVM and a Hydra scart selector setup to play them in the best possible way I can.

Re: Mini Review: Shadow Man Remastered - A Rich, Inscrutable World To Get Lost In

DonierGunad

Kind of late to the party on this review, but the soundtrack was even mentioned here. Anyone reading this review in future should check out the remastered soundtrack. Tim haywood did a marvelous job and it's much improved over the N64 version. Though I agree the gameplay will frustrate, as it did me back in the day on the N64. This remaster is amazing and by now, there are going to be walkthrough guides a plenty on YouTube and written text. It also has the Nvidia enhancements now (compare the asylum gateway for example). You can't go wrong with the Switch version, though if you high resolution textures and a more stable framerate I would go for the PS4 version. I have both and really enjoyed them on both consoles.

Re: Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 Resolution & Frame Rate Chart Released

DonierGunad

@Pupuplatter I kept my original copy from release, so no need for an emulator. I prefer original resolutions and forked out for a Sony PVM and the picture quality is sublime. I own all the other main line metal gear solid games, so to see this collection get a half-baked port job on modern consoles is really sad and buying them for Switch to have on the go was main selling point for me. I was also suggesting to the other guy that MGS twin snakes on the isn't worth the money punters are trying to sell it at. Like the games enjoyable, it's not bad, it just not a classic like the original PS1 release is. I'm surprised Konami dropped the ball on this collection considering the Castlevania collection and the Cowabunga collection got the VIP treatment. It's like the Chrono Cross remaster, half-baked and a quick cash grab. Developers should treat there legacy content with respect, especially those games that are getting first time releases in the west.

Re: Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 Resolution & Frame Rate Chart Released

DonierGunad

I thought the switch version was 720p-30fps for both docked and handheld. Maybe I misread it a month back. It still makes me wonder why the Switch can't run 1, 2&3 60fps docked or handheld, then again I am not really a tech person. I still have the original releases and having these on the go is what sells it to me. Though I should improve my standards, because its people like me who encourage what could be considered shoddy ports and for that I apologise. Hence why this time I think I'll just leave it and maybe pick this up second hand instead.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (September 2nd)

DonierGunad

I'm flipping between red dead redemption, a second playthrough of metroid prime on Hard (I am at meta ridley) and sea of stars. Though this wasn't asked, I'm looking forward to getting Baten kaitos on the 15th this month. Hopefully I'll unlock vetran or hypermode and complete MP1 on that before Baten Kaitos releases. Then it'll be XC3, sea of stars, Baten Kaitos and undead nightmare as I've nearly completed RD1 in hard-core and smash out the challenges from time to time to get 100% completion.

Re: The Next Xenoblade Will Be "Vastly Different" Says Monolith Soft Director

DonierGunad

I'd love to see a remaster of the trilogy on the next Nintendo console helmed by saber interactive or Panic Button, off topic I know, but we're talons xenoblade and would love an up scaled 4K presentation of those games.

On topic though, I would also love to see what Monolith software do next whether it's a xenoblade title or not. I'll always support there work with my wallet.

Re: Video: Digital Foundry's Technical Analysis Of Red Dead Redemption On Switch

DonierGunad

I still bought the game after watching Switchups review of the game, because I had so much fun with RDR on the PS3 back in the day. I also pre-ordered the physical, because I collect video games also. It might he a bare bones port and lack multi-player, but I'm still having just as much fun with it as I did the first time round. I cam understand people being disappointed with the PS4/5 release as they could have done so much more with it, but the Switch version I believe is spot on. Just wish they added multi-player, I had a blast with it back in the day, but at least I got undead nightmare in there, which still stands as one of the best DLC to he released for a game imo.

Re: Poll: What's Your Game Of The Year Of 2023 So Far?

DonierGunad

I've really enjoyed Warhammer 40k boltgun, though I voted for metroid prime remastered due to the fact I got so much more than just the GC/Wii version in HD. It really impressed with me with what they did with that game. ToTK is out of this world, but metroid takes top spot for me.
